I have chosen to use a Canon 1200D in order to film the
whole of my music video. This is because it has a high
frame rate, and a lens in which can be zoomed in and out
from 18mm to 55mm. AlsoI have used this model multiple
times, meaning I am familiar with how it works and the
different aspects of the camera.
I will use a monopod in order to steady my shots but to still give
opportunity to make it seemfree hands free and for some shots to create
a smoother camera movement when travelling up or down.
I will use a tripod (especially in the dance sequence and green screening) in order to
have the shots completely still to focus more on the actors as well as to show the
contrast in scenes from the main storyline to the dance sequence and green screening.
I will use a green screen for my singer’s scenes in order that I can put any
background I need behind her. This could include a simple black background or even
lots of bright laser lights.
I will use 2 studio lights for my dance sequence and green screening in order to
make the light remove as many shadows as possible and to emphasise that they
are more stylised scenes than the narrative ones. Due to them being white lights
they will hopefully increase the quality of the shots and help to avoid any yellow
or orange lights.
I will use a shoulder mount briefly for a few moving shots to slightly steady
them, but not so much that it looks as if were on a track in order to make the
audience feel like they are the ones watching this from the where the camera
is positioned and to engage more with the actor.
The rest of my shots will be filmed free hand so that I can follow
common conventions of EDM music videos where they use this
particular technique often. It will again help the audience to feel more
connected with the actor as it will feel as if they are more invested in
the story onscreen.

I will use two 16 GB SD cards in order to record my footage onto. This is so that I
will definitely have enough space to record all that I need and to be able to
alternate between cards during one filming session in-case one of the SD cards
corrupt during the upload process. This will mean that I will have some footage
from one of the card so I wouldn’t have to record the whole thing again. Also by
having a total of 32 GB I will be able to keep all my footage on both the cards for in-case they
corrupt or are lost on my computer, I will keep them on there until my project is fully edited
and uploaded.
In the ‘dance sequence’ I will use 4 wooden boxes with one of the 4 letters ‘HERO’ on each
of them and place them at the back of my dance area. I will also use two smaller boxes for
part of the sequence for my dancers to each sit on and do a dance using the boxes.
I will use Premiere Elements in order to edit the majority of my footage, this is
because I am familiar with this programme and know all the aspects of it due to
having it many years for previous projects. It is also a quick programme to cut and
place clips where I need them and it is easily accessible. The export quality is also
very high and has a variety of different formats in which it can be exported to.
I will also use Premiere After Effects in order to colour grade each clip and enhance
the quality of them. But also it will be used for adding in my special effects such as
energy balls, glitter, green screening, motion tracking, light rays etc. This isn’t a
programme I am fully confident in using, but I will use this to challenge my editing
ability further, in hope that I can achieve the look I want. As it is still part of the
Adobe collection it has a similar layout to the other software’s I have used, meaning I should
catch on to how it all works fairly quickly.
