My Artist’s Poster Analysis
Heroes (We could be) By Alesso Ft. Tove Lo
This poster seems to have been split up into two sections; the artist and the
song to perhaps help to promote both.
The font and colours used in this poster are the same as the font and colour
used in this song’s CD cover; the white background, black art deco font, name
of the song being larger than other text, main artist’s name being larger than
the featured artist, light effect inside of the song’s name etc. This may have
been done to reflect repetitiveness of the song, as well as perhaps suggesting
the artist and his songs are consistent. This seems to be a common theme for
Alesso’s posters and CD covers (linking) for example in Alesso’s I wanna know Ft. Nico and Vinz he has used the font, colours and design of the CD cover also
on the poster and again split it into two; the name of the song and artists, and the album’s iconic design. In this one they haven’t however used a
picture of his face but of a vine in a specific shape with flowers attached to it. This may be the case because Alesso features in this music video
but does not star, there is another actor which has the main role in this song’s music video, also the flower
shape also features in the video on the back of the main actor’s jacket to demonstrate the actor acting as the
stunt man for Alesso is acting as Alesso.
The repeated theme of the black and white colours has
also been added to the picture of Alesso’s face to
possibly again continue this black and white theme.
Alesso is looking directly into the camera to perchance
engage and include his audience, with a neutral facial expression to maybe reflect that he takes his music
seriously and also to show he doesn’t need to wear any fancy clothes, effects or styles in order to promote
himself. This also seems to be the facial expression he continues to have during the music video. Since he stars
quite a lot in his music video to his song Heroes it seems logical that he stars in his own poster. It also seems to finish off the poster rather than
having it completely be the same as the CD cover.
