2. INTRO
• For the preliminary task we were asked in groups to film a short scene of characters
with narrative.
• We used the continuity rules which are shot reverse shot and the 180 degree rule.
• The camera shots that we wanted to use were close-up, establishing shot, over the
shoulder, two shot and medium close up.
We used a scene were we filmed an establishing shot of the building we were filming
in and the first character enters into a room to talk to the second character.
3. FILMING
• My role was to set the camera up in the right position and place.
• We positioned the characters on screen so that they were facing each other and
while exchanging dialogue we used an over the shoulder shot to show one
character giving the other a piece of paper and so you can see her hand it to her.
We also then shot a two shot from the side view so that you can see everything
going on in the scene.
4. EDITING
• For editing, we cut the mistakes out between the scenes were the filming had over
laped between the scenes. We could be have done more of the continuity rules as
we only use the 180-degree rule and didn’t use the shot reverse shot. I think our
camera postioning and framing was in the right place. I think we worked very good
as a group because we all agreed on what we were doing and we all gave equal
ideas to improve the task.
• Overall: I feel confident using the camera but not so confident with using final cut
express.
