The Social Media And Digital Media
The template/sample can be found in the appendix, as well as all the results summarized by Google
Form. 20 people took the survey in a lapse time of 5 days between October 12 and October 17. The
survey suggested that half of the surveyed had a Bachelor's degree and 75% of them are single,
never married. Most of them (65%) had between 18 and 24 year old and took the survey via social
media. The other category mostly represented (20%) was between 45 and 54 year old and took the
survey sent my email. Knowing that most of the person who answered the survey was in the young
generation I will focus my analysis on them. It is interesting to get to know more about their own
perception of media. They haven't lived the transition between traditional media and digital media
like the other older generation did. They have an all–new look on media but still do not trust them.
Only 25% of the surveyed answer "social media" to the question "Please choose a media outlet you
think is the most trustworthy ». The Generation Y should trusts the tools they use the most but
surprisingly, for them the trustworthiest outlets were Newspaper and radio with 30%. People mostly
trust radio and newspaper but still, 55% of them choose social media to access current news on the
daily basis. The question here is; why do people go on media they don't trust?
More the surveyed answered questions, more it was obvious that the majority was relying on social
media and new outlet to get updates on the latest news.

The Importance Of Ignorance
Ignorance is the lack of knowledge or information. In the root of ignorance, it is natural to not know
information once a person is born; this is sometime referred to as the age of innocence. Ignorance
becomes unacceptable through education; if a student does not know, a student does not pass. Being
a well–informed citizen in a complex society can be overwhelming with today's stifled and
persuasive media, yet there is no report card to fail adults, often no penalty to pay and seemingly no
consequences for being ignorant as an adult. There is a large amount of power for an American to
know their civil rights and frankly it is the only power they have; this knowledge greatly shapes
their social and economic mobility. The definition of civil rights is protection provided by
government, for the right to be free from discrimination. Why is this important: constitutionally or
not, it would be hard to find people to agree that big business has the right to dominate America
economically, yet effectively this is happening with one supreme court decision. Socially in America
and really anywhere in world there are three entities that greatly shape a citizen's social horizons,
they are money, power, and education. Not knowing something is the same as being ignorant of that
something. Ignorance is the root of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Big business has begun to lead government in controlling America, and to change, ignorance is not
the solution, ignorance is the root of what enables what people don't know, will hurt them.
Knowledge of the truth of these issues and sovereignty of the American people are the only things
that can take back America, so Americans should talk to neighbors, friends, and family, start talking
about politics and find the truth to answers; start voting and not just on the presidential election, and
take back

Social Media Trust
To start this analysis off, I asked myself what do these sources say about how can social media be
used to influence people's trust in the government. A large number of people potentially get some of
their news from social media and this is proven by a 2016 Pew Research Center survey, which states
69 percent of US adults use social media. This also makes a lot of people vulnerable to receiving
and believing false information. The authors of "Campus politics, student societies and social
media" said "The very ease of access and the potential rapid and widespread 'viral' dissemi–nation
of content led to expressions of concern that social media could amplify misinformation. 'Facts', it
was claimed, could be misconstrued, taken out of context ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

From observing and analyzing sources, it seems one way to gain people's trust in the government is
to not just use social media to give the most up–to–date information, but to take advantage of social
media to reduce the distance between the people and government officials, which in turn creates
more trust in the government. I will call this theory 'Social Government'. However, false and biased
news can negatively influence people's trust, it's up to the government to present accurate and
reliable information on social media and elsewhere. I am aware that there are many factors that
affects one's trust in the government such as political parties. The 'social government' theory is only
a part of the puzzle. This theory is important because many people use social media and this is a
great opportunity for the government to get closer to the citizens and those citizens could potentially
become more active in

Since Its Creation In 1958, The National Aeronautics And
Since its creation in 1958, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has had a
number of high profile failures, but these breakdowns are heavily outweighed by the multitude of
successful missions they have flown. NASA is a very large, well–known government organization
with many moving parts within its system. In its 59 years of existence, many of their policies have
been slow to change to keep up with modern standards and operations. In spite of this creeping pace
of change, the communication department within NASA has been ahead by leaps and bounds when
compared to other government organizations. After locating 4 samples of public communication
taken from NASA, I have identified a positive change in the communication ... Show more content

The telecommunication process came about as the result of NASA creations to advance the
technology that is available to businesses and spur growth in the United States. "Thirty–seven
percent of U.S. workers say they have telecommuted, up slightly from 30% last decade but four
times greater than the 9% found in 1995." (Gallup). I found a frequently asked questions (FAQ)
communication sample that NASA employees can use for their instant meeting audio conferencing.
NASA has branches across the country, spanning both space and time zones, which can cause issues
with scheduling meetings. NASA benefits from the research and development they put into
telecommunication by being able to communicate across both space and time. This communication
sample highlights the use of rich media technology channels to transmit information. In this
instance, the rich media they are utilizing is the audio conference calls to transmit data heavy
communication. The use of the FAQ sample also points to the organization's use of technologically
advanced systems to assist employees in communicating across a variety of platforms. The option of
technology in organizations can improve and promote collaboration among team members, which is
important when half of a team is at a different location than the other. For example, members of

Politics Is Not Inherently Exciting
The time has come to vote. Long and careful thought has been put into selecting the right candidate,
the right person to lead this country. However, before making the selection on the ballot, what
would one do if none of the candidates were qualified to lead this country? It is once again time to
elect a president into office, but with the options of
Donald Trump, Hilary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, and several other president
hopefuls, many people would rather choose none of the above.
Government is obviously different and ever changing. The issue is the current American system of
government is beginning to deteriorate, and it is taking the presidential candidates down
simultaneously.
Often times when people think of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not to mention, this comment from Rubio is nearly hypocritical compared to an earlier statement,
"The presidency is not a reality TV show, It's not the political version of 'Survivor,'" (O'Keefe
March, 2). This helps Rubio to maintain his persona as the honest optimistic one with his eyes set on
the future, but in fact he is on to something.
Even though his opinion is that the "disintegration of our culture" is to blame, truth can be found, in
fact the disintegration of our culture applies to the candidates as well.
Although presidential campaigns are not a stranger to violence, both sides are only adding fuel to
this fire. A more specific example is the fact Trump is using words that aggravate people, and
already people are beginning to lash out. Gov. John Kasich of Ohio stated. "There is no place for a
national leader to prey on the fear of people." (Barbaro,
Parker, and Gabrielmarch, 1) Unfortunately, that is exactly how these candidates are calling
attention to themselves in an attempt to make a statement. That strategy does have its desired affect,
but when rallies end in pepper spray stand offs and Secret Service agents encircling a candidate,
something is corrupt within the system.
Still, some believe the media is terribly biased and that is the problem undermining present day
politics. Although bias has been found in reporting,

Dating Vs Technology
In the world of today, two words that constantly come up are change and improvement. These two
words directly tie into the widespread, worldwide use of technology. Everything we do involves
technology. And we are always looking for ways to change it to improve something in our lives. We
are always striving to make things faster, easier, more efficient. But what you need to ask yourself is
this: Are these improvements in technology actually helping me? Are they really making my life any
easier? These are questions I asked as I strove to find out why, in a world centered around
improvements, relationships are falling apart, and in such high quantities.
In conducting research it was becoming apparent that there were two, somewhat distinct, ... Show

These mediums are most commonly used because they provide an endless amount of opportunities
for any individual. The basic set up of dating websites is you enter information about yourself and
what you are looking for in a partner and then begin surfing the website for a soulmate. According
to Jonathan Pitts article on: Online Dating Advantages, online dating is not only becoming a normal
part of the dating scheme, its also very convenient. He explains it in with one particular scenario:
"After all you couldn't go into a nightclub or a bar, ask all the people to line up and then split them
into several categories judged on personality, body type, hair color, hobbies and interests and even
salary range...but you can online..." Another advantage that Pitts mentioned was the fact that using
social media is that it is safer so that you are able to tell what the person really likes and how they
will really react to different things.
Using social media and dating websites for relationships very often leads to the sending of intimate
photographs to other people's phones, called sexting. This process has positive impacts on
relationships because it is said to add an extra spark to an already occurring relationship, as well as
making long distance relationships more bearable, just to name a few. (How is Technology Shaping
Romance?). In other words, it really is used to increase the intimacy of a relationship, which is
generally what people are looking for in a

College Worth It Essay
Mrs. Vilato Eng. 003 7, February 2012 College: The Greatest Decision You Can Make "In the
United States today, there is no more certain investment than a college education"(Carnevale and
Melton). Education has always been a major component of American society. One can only go so
far without an education, and the more education and knowledge someone has, the better their
chances of being successful. Some people believe a high school education is enough, and it is,
enough to land a job at a fast food restaurant. I speculate they feel this way because they feel school
is not for them, or maybe they just do not want to go far in life. To get far in life people must go

In reference to jobs "55% [said] it was very useful in helping them prepare for a job or career". The
data from the study supports my assertions of what college provides students with, which is a strong
foundation for joining the work force. College also gives students connections. While taking part in
activities students make friends and meet people with all kinds of goals for the future. These
connections make life easier after college. Students meet friends that have connections to
internships, jobs, summer programs and with the help of their friends, students can find themselves
in one of these if not more resume building opportunities. Meeting new people and participating in
activities make students appear very diverse in turn, more appealing to employers. Another benefit
of college is the education that one receives. Not only does one learn about a specific field that other
people only have general to no knowledge about, but they essentially become a specialist in a few
areas. College forces people to pick their main interests and focus on them. The further they take
their education, the more knowledgeable they become in particular fields. Picking a major and
minor (sometimes double major and double minor) narrows choices when employers are seeking
workers because they want people with a specific skill set, and specific knowledge. Most degrees
can give students the opportunity to obtain high paying jobs. Now, while it is true that right out of

Gender Equality Essay
Gender Equality in Today's Workforce
In today's business environment, women get paid on average 12–30% less than men. This affects
their ways of living and retirement options. To this day, women still have less rights when it comes
to workforce in many Asian and European countries. Men are the preferred gender because they are
perceived to be smarter. In many countries, women are limited on the amount of education they can
receive. Women are not treated fairly in the workforce because it harder for them to get jobs, they
get paid less than men, and men are thought to be smarter than women.
It is very difficult for women to get jobs compared to men. Men are the preferred choice of
employment over women in many situations ("Chapter 4"). Even when the job might be more suited
for a female, men are still preferred in some places. Currently the only country to not permit women
to drive is Saudi Arabia. This makes it very hard for those women to get jobs. Although it is harder,
women are trying very hard and are joining the workforce in huge numbers. These women are then
forced to share the money they have earned with their husbands. Saudi women are making a
statement but saying that a woman that is working should get to spend what she has earned
("Movement Grows In"). This shows that women are making a difference and standing up for what
they believe should happen in the workforce. Although, Saudi Arabia isn't the only country that is
starting to allow women to

Obamacare : The Affordable Care Act
During his presidential announcement speech, Trump's presented his ideas on how he will bring the
American back to life since the American dream is dead in his perspective. Among all the claims he
expresses his thoughts on Obamacare, also known as the Affordable Care Act. He affirms "We have
a disaster called the big lie: Obamacare. Obamacare." and admits that indeed Obamacare will really
kick in 2016. Trump plans on repealing and replacing Obamacare. He plans on granting better
health insurance to everyone at an inexpensive cost for the people and for the government. Trump
exaggerates the cost to persuade his Republican audience into believing of Obamacare as a
catastrophe, however, he fails to backup the data he presents not to mention that the data is wrong.
During Trump 's presidential speech he describes Obamacare as "a big lie." He declares that "costs
are going for people up 29, 39, 49, and even 55 percent, and deductibles are through the roof."
Consequently, you would have to get hit by a tractor to use it because deductibles are so high. In
other words, Trump illustrates Obamacare as useless. In addition, he speaks upon the Obamacare
website by stating that we spent "$5 billion... and to this day it doesn't work." He ridicules the
outrageous price by mentioning that he has a handful of websites and that they only cost him three
dollars. He claims doctors are quitting. In fact, his friend who is a doctor is devastated by the
outcome, and claims to have more

Analysis Of The Unluckiest Generation
My oldest sister has always been a hard worker. She was the top percent of her class, always has
good grades and graduated with a high GPA. She even did all this with a job. But when she
attempted to be an "adult" and rent an apartment with her friend it didn't go as planned and she later
moved back in with us. Many of these situations like this happen to this generation why? what is
causing this delay in adulthood? In the article "the unluckiest generation: what will become of the
millennials", Derek Thompson explains why generation Y is unluckiest economically. Throughout
the article Thompson goes back and forth giving negative and positive things generation Y has.
Thompson mentions how generation Y has gone through many terrible events, but it did not prepare
them for the "economic sledgehammer" after the collapse of the market. He states that this can
affect generation Y "for the rest of their working lives."Thompson argues that because of the bad
economy, adults are not moving out their parents' home and is causing millennials not to buy
houses. He believe that because generation Y is not buying houses or cars it is causing the economy
not to move forward. He acknowledges that this generation is the most educated but that it also
comes with problems. However, Thompson includes the positives of cheaper food, apparel, and
entertainment. In the article, "generation nice" by Sam Tanenhaus, he talks about how millennials

The Effects Of Excessive Time With Technology
As seen on CBS news, a man was so immersed in his cell phone that he missed a beautiful
humpback whale surface right next to his boat. Not that missing a whale surface isn't bad enough,
however, spending too much time with technology and media causes more loss than we know.
Overuse of technology and media socially isolates our generation, destroys their social skills, and
allows them to be prone to health issues.
Obsessive use of technology socially isolates us and destroys our social skills. The first effect of
excessive time with technology and media is social isolation. As published in the New York Times
article "Antisocial Networking", the Pew Research Center found that half of American teenagers –
defined in the study as ages 12 through 17 – send 50 or more text messages a day and that one third
send more than 100 a day. Two thirds of the texters surveyed by the center's Internet and American
Life Project said they were more likely to use their cell phones to text friends than to call them.
Fifty–four percent said they text their friends once a day, but only 33 percent said they talk to their
friends face–to–face on a daily basis. This research is proof that children are more willing to text
their friends rather than to talk with them, therefore they are less likely to meet their friends in
person as often as they text. So although kids chat through their cell phones, they are still socially
isolated when it comes to having real conversations. Next, overuse of

previous generations, women had one role to accomplish; to care for their children. As mothers,
women were required to play the role of June Cleaver. Mothers need to care for the children and
keep the home in smooth working order. After many protests, women wanted to empower their
equal rights, and become career women. Thanks to women's perseverance, today women are able to
work, and be just as qualified as men in their careers. Yet, there is still the debate over whether

There are many debates over the focus of the added daycare expense. Children are often only put
into daycare to help assist the working mother. In return, this adds more pressure to the mother,
because daycare is an added expense. In the old days men worked while the wives stayed at home.
This helped to eliminate the added expense of daycare. Now mothers want to work and choose to
use daycare. The question is if the family can afford the daycare expense. Some of the mothers who
work, their salaries pay just the daycare expense. Their wages are not helping their families; the
extra wages are just breaking even. If mothers choose to work, they have to decide if the family can
basically live on one income. Furthermore, there is the issue about the addition of a working
mother's income, what happens if the parents divorce, the husband passes away, or the husband
becomes injured, and he can not work? The working mother can be beneficial. If a mother has a
career, and a solid financial income, it can secure that the mother, and her family will be more
financially stable. With the possible loss of the main income source, this can be devastating to the
mother, and her children. The mother would have to worry more about the lack of income instead of
making the choice of sending her children to daycare. In fact studies have shown that children who
attend daycare are more successful in socializing as they

Constant Technology And Social Isolation
Constant technology and social media is a tightrope walk, one gust of wind, one misstep and it can
be catastrophic for society. Technology has the potential to make our society a better place but it
also could lead to the downfall of humanity. First and foremost, our new technology causes isolation
between people. I've seen people ignored in favor of their cellphones. The Pew Research institute
found that Americans discussion networks have shrunken by about a third since 1985 and have
become less diverse because they contain few non–family members. This social isolation is caused
by the new technology that pushes us further and further from each other. Furthermore, this social
isolation can be compared to Ray Bradbury's character Mildred, who is an emotionally numb
women who cares more about her television then her own husband. Mildred has made no deep
social connections not even with her own husband. Her social isolation has gone so far that Montag
realizes that he would not cry over her death. Although it is an extreme it's not too far off from what
our world could be like if we don't start taking face to face communication seriously. While I
acknowledge the isolation caused by technology, I also realize that it is not such a simple matter.

Negative Effects Of Media On Millennials
Media's Negative Impact On Millennials
Media is now the dominant source of information and entertainment in the world. People use it as a
major part of their lives, but little do they know how much it impacts them, especially millennials.
According to the Pew Research Center (2017), "Today around seven–in–ten Americans use social
media to connect with one another, engage with news content, share information and entertain
themselves." Today's media is negatively affecting millennial behavior, physical health, and mental
health.
Media is affecting the behavior of millennials. Children, on average, watch around twelve–thousand
acts of violence on televisionTV each year, such as murder or even sexual assault. Several studies
show that this kind of exposure can lead to aggressive behavior (PMC, 2003, para. 9). Media is also
becoming a heavy influence on sexual morality, portraying sex outside of marriage as common and
seldom mentioning its risks and dangers. Studies show how susceptible teens are to media's
influence on sexual behavior (PMC, 2003, para. 12–13). Drugs are promoted by the media to today's
audience as well. Celebrities are often seen and imitated by millennials as role models; but news and
media often highlight the negative things that they do, portraying sex, drugs, and other addictions as
normative (Mondal, n.d., para. 6). Also, several alcohol and tobacco companies make
advertisements telling the viewer that taking such products is are considered "cool" (PMC,

Parental Control In Romeo And Juliet
"We've called it Family Safety. We are calling it Family Safety rather than Parental Control because

your child is the way parenting works. Some of these parents find that their child rebels against their
"very specific" instructions. Between parent and child, their will always be a aspect of control and

tries to control the child, the child feels the need to push back and get their ground back. This what
happens between parent and child. The Pew Research Center did studying to figure out if there is a
connection between parents controlling their kids and if the child rebels. Surveys from the Pew

having surveillance that arguments will happen because the kid is pushing back and is going to

Technology And Usage During Dinner Time
Technology and millennials are like peanut butter and jelly. They are synonymous with each other.
Millennials have grown up with so much technology that this generation is also known as the
"information generation." This generation has had technology at every toss and turn in their lives.
Technology comes in many forms that range from smart phones to tablets to televisions. Many
households throughout the last decade have changed. Homes now have more technology than ever.
Technology is no longer just in the family rooms, or bedrooms. It is also in the kitchens and is often
times within easy reach or viewing of a dinner table. This does not change when it is time to enjoy a

Meier and Musick suggest that the blame does not fall on millennials, but the parents. Parents are
held accountable for several reasons, the first is that parents are the ones who purchase the gadgets
and give permission for them to be used. Parents have the power in this relationship that is why
families must be educated on the pitfalls of technology.
I agree with Annie Murphy Paul, a writer for the magazine, Good House Keeping point that parents
are responsible for children's usage of technology. In Paul's article she cited a study that was
reported by the American Journal of Epidemiology which reported that "while half of parents
surveyed in a 2010 study said they always or often set limits on screen time, 18 percent of their kids
really disagreed" (Paul). This highlights a key discrepancy between parents and children. In the eyes
of children parents do not restrict children enough. This is exactly what Alessondra Villegas, a
researcher at Fordham University, states in her journal. She claims that parents must be able to
develop clear rules and that parents must also be firm with the boundaries that are set forth (Villegas
2–3). In Villegas's research she found that parents use technology to watch their children. Villegas
concluded that, "on average, mothers claim to use the television as a babysitter for at least one hour
a day," (6). Her work , which was published in the New York State Communication Association

Eye and spine health are a core elements of comfort. They are usually disregarded when people sit
down to use computers, tablets, and smartphones. Many people that have jobs that require them to
sit in front of computers for extended intervals of time do not think about their back and eye health.
Technology has also infiltrated itself into classrooms, which is a large risk because many students
do not consider their back and eye health. Eye health is usually not taken into account, but it should
also be a very large factor in how much time we spend in front of technology. The health of the eyes

also the demographic that have admitted to suffering back pain. The use of technology in this age is
unavoidable. Many people think that back pain is a normal occurrence; however special care should
be take when using technology, and is often ignored, however it can be a sign that there are more
severe, underlying problems. On one hand, I understand that this new generation is being raised
amid a myriad of technological advances, and avoiding them would be very difficult. But on the
other hand, I still insist that we consider how much time we spend in front of these devices. In other
words, limiting the time that we spend in front of computer screens can improve our eye and spine
health. My point is not that computers are the sole source of spine and eye detriment, but that
computers and tablets should be enjoyed with caution. Many people assume that the worst that can
happen from overuse of technology is a little headache and a small amount of back pain. This is
simply not true. My point is that our bodies have been slowly changing to fit our computer usage,
and we are doing this unsuccessfully.
Using technology in the classroom can also be an issue if the proper measures are not taken to
protect the spine health of students. The enjoyment of tablets and computers is very common, and

Argumentative Essay On Social Media
Social media is a game changing invention but it has come with a hefty amount of backlash. When I
was younger I didn't have a phone and social media was nothing compared to how it is now present
day. It's astonishing just how far the internet and social media have come. Not just when it comes to
how advanced or how widespread they've become, what shocks me is just how influential social
media has become. It's almost borderline unsettling how much humans as a whole rely and depend
on social media for nearly everything they know or want to discover. Social media has become not
only a way to locate others and communicate with others but a way for people to learn and stay
informed and aware of what goes on outside the doors of their cozy little nook. Looking back to my
childhood days, I recall lounging on the couch with my mother in the morning watching news on the
television but now that has become a distant memory if I need news today, I get it from social media
on my cell phone. The poor television in the living room has become obsolete from lack of use
because of a boost in social media's involvement with news and correct political issues. Research is
vital to a paper which is why I carefully selected where and what information I picked to include
and work on. I started early on research by just diving in full force on just social media as a whole.
My research mainly just focused in on social media as a whole and how it has adapted and evolved
over time. This opened some doors for me because it widened my eyes to just how fast and how
influential social media became. Not to far ago in the recent past social media and the internet itself
wasn't much more than just an infant but, today social media is a giant that controls our every
action. I also hand crafted a survey, but couldn't gather enough data from it to use it effectively. I
looked at social media and its impact and role in the news. From this I focused on Snapchat and it's
global stories like Brother and others. Just in general I did research on how social media depicts
news and global events and how that impacted how people actually comprehend the information
presented to them. Researching social media and receiving first hand accounts from them and

Responsibility And Its Effects On Young Minds
The infamous mantra that parents everywhere have heard time after time from children is, "He made
me do it." Parents hear this every second of every hour of every day. We learned at a young age that
if you do not want to be responsible for the situation, you blame it on someone else. As we get older,
we begin to realize how important taking responsibility really is. In fact, 93% of the 3,000 parents
surveyed by the Pew Research Center said that responsibility was the number one character trait
they wanted their child to possess. Ron Kurtus, the creator of School for Champions, said, "Being
responsible and taking responsibility for the things that may go wrong is an admirable character
trait. We all dislike dealing with people who are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In an act of desperation, Wyatt decides that to get a better chance at being picked, he must decrease
Grace's chance of being selected by popping her. As the hours pass, Grace slowly deflates, losing air
little by little. Soon an older, wiser balloon, named Theo, gives Wyatt some much needed advice.
Theo tells Wyatt that he needs to do the right thing and take responsibility for his careless actions.
Wyatt learns how important it is to take responsibility for what he did because if he had not, Grace
and Wyatt's friendship would have been ruined. He prevents Grace from deflating any further by
patching up his old friend. Grace understands what Wyatt did, and she is glad he learned to take
responsibility for his actions. Even though Wyatt was not sure if Grace would ever forgive him, she
decides to overlook Wyatt's impulsive decision, and the two become friends once again. Afterwards,
Wyatt and Grace are purchased together and are reminded that you should always take responsibility
for your actions, especially when those actions could hurt others.
"Everyone loves a happy ending." Although happy endings are done and redone, they are a must in a
children's story because their young minds are so impressionable. An unhappy ending would crush
their enthusiastic outlook on life which is needed to keep them positive in many different situations
and settings later on in life. A happy ending is a great

Negative Effects Of Technology On Adolescents
Effects of Technology on Adolescents In America today technology is always advancing.
Technology has made many positive impacts on adolescents such as online schooling, the ability to
meet new people, the opportunity to express and give their opinions, the ability to express
themselves, and also the resources to keep in contact with friends and family. Although there are
many positives to technology, there are also negatives such as distractions, technical difficulties,
cyberbullying, online hackers, and availability of resources. A study conducted by Pew Research
Center collected data that 92 percent of teens reported going online daily (Lenhart). This proves that
a majority of adolescents are using technology in their everyday lives. Technology has allowed
students to use the internet to advance in their school work. The Internet is a primary research tool
for teens. Census data indicates that 85 percent of older teens 14–17 and 77 percent of tweens 10–13
go online to do schoolwork. Among those teens who are online, 94 percent use the Internet for
school research and 34 percent have downloaded a study aid (The Henry J. Kaiser Family
Foundation). Technology has also allowed students to take classes online at a college while still in
high school. I have personally interviewed two students a Taylor High School, Emily Good who is
enrolled in the college credit plus program, this program allows her to take college classes online
through Cincinnati State and receive a high

Media 's Impact On The Media
Most of us watch television or listen to the radio on our commute in order to be up to date with the
surrounding events. We depend on those sources of mass media to relay relevant and reliable
information in order for us to understand pressing issues and formulate our opinions pertaining to
the best approach in dealing with those issues. But what if the information relayed to us is biased
and skewed or worse yet if those sources of information divert attention away from pressing matters
and place the individuals in an oblivious state.
The fact of the matter is that news organizations are more trusted sources of information than are
many other institutions, including government and business. And the public's impression of the

He gave an example that in his book of when wall street journal ran a story about how the federal
safety officials were investigating an issue with certain GE airplane engines that had faulty parts that
can disintegrate and cause a catastrophic failure, a problem that affected more than four thousand
airplanes that transport thousands of passengers every day. The writer continues to state that he
found this information to be very important to the public and that it needs to be covered by the news
channel he worked for which was CNBC at the time, part of NBC network. But since NBC is owned
by GE the agency decided not to run the story.
Another persistent matter is the distraction and the diversion of public attention by the media, a
strategy that is used as the primary element of social control. Its sole goal is to drive attention away
from important issues and changes determined by the political and economic elites, by the technique
of flooding continuous distractions and insignificant information.
Noam Chomsky in his book Media Control, talks about how domestic programs of the
administrations of the past ten years have really no serious proposal about what to do about the
severe problems of health, education, homelessness, joblessness, crime, soaring criminal

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against

quote was a section of the Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution. Those lines are one
of the many things that set America apart from other countries around the world. It has protected us
for centuries from "unreasonable searches and seizures..." made by anyone, including the
government. This is all beginning to change with the inventions of the smartphone, computer, and
even GPS. These inventions have possibly turned our world for the better, or maybe even for the

This case has just recently happened, and it was not even a whole year ago. The second case is of
Riley v. California. After that I will present you with some of the startling data that was famously
leaked by former NSA contractor, Edward Snowden. For a long time the government has mostly
honored the Fourth Amendment, and we were able to live without the constant fear of being spied
on. That time is gone, and we need it back. The government must stop wasting their time and money
on watching innocent Americans and use it elsewhere, preferably where it is more needed.
Now for the case that has kept the nation on the edge of their seats, we have Apple v. FBI. This has
really split the nation as people are torn apart by wanting to side with the makers of their beloved
iPhone or the government that has given many their freedom. This all started with a tragedy,
unfortunately, the tragedy the San Bernardino shooting. After the terrorists were killed, the FBI
obtained the iPhone from one of the shooters and believed that they could find more information in
it. They turned to Apple in order to open up the phone, as iPhones are set to 'self–destruct' all data
after 10 failed password attempts. Apple flat out refused. In a letter to the public sent out by Tim

Technology And The Positive Effects Of Information Technology
Information technology is the study or use of systems, such as computers and smartphones, for
storing, retrieving, and sending information. In our society today, it has become more common to
own a smartphone. A survey ran in 2015 regarding the ownership of these devices demonstrated that
68% of U.S. adults have a smartphone, rising about 35% since 2011, and tablet ownership is at 45%
among adults (PEW Research Center). As of right now technology is becoming a threat to the way
we live. Even though technology has created positive impacts in society, it has caused a barrier in
human interaction, inactivity in daily life, and has lead to the spread of false news on social
platforms. Technology affects the way individuals communicate, learn, and think. It helps define
society and determines how one interacts with others on a daily basis. Over the years, technological
advancements have contributed to the barrier in communication that society suffers from today. A
study done by the International Center for Media & the Public Agenda (ICMPA) found that 1 in 4
people spend time socializing online (Hampton). Through the growing popularity and usage of
social media platforms, it has become more simple to remain in contact with others through online
platforms. Although it is great to keep in touch with distant friends and relatives, many individuals
have taken advantage of this opportunity. A poll ran by Statista determined that the percent of

What is the size of your market? o There are hundreds of thousands of churches here in America, all
of which could benefit from paid social media advertising and expert advice. Although midsize–to–
mega church sized churches are more likely able to afford such services.
What is the current demand in the target market? o With amount of churches in America and the
church's overall dive in numbers, there is certainly a high demand for effective church social
marketing services. Churches need to relearn how to reach people and how to encourage them to

o The increasing trend of social media use is also ever present. There were almost 2 billion people

approximately "one–in–five Americans share their faith online" (Pew Research Center, 2015, p.1)
What is the growth potential? o The growth potential is limitless due to the fact that many churches
are not taking advantage of such services and the overarching mission of each church is to reach
people.
What are barriers do you face in entering this market and how can you overcome them? o Churches
may not be able to afford or feel the need to invest in paid advertising. Their invest into paid
advertising would include my fee of $2,000–$2,500 plus their monthly ad spent of at least $3,000.
This would be a monthly investment of a least $5,000. I would mostly likely limit my reach to
midsize and large churches that already have a strategy that just needs to be further developed.
Furthermore, I have never run church specific advertising so churches may question my ability
because they think church marketing is so different than other verticals and it is not. Understanding
how to effectively reach people is the same no matter the platform. I will overcome this possible
setback by explaining my true expertise is in reaching brand specific target audiences.

Do Video Games Help Students Essay
Do video games help students in the classroom? This is a question that I have been pondering about
because I am part of a group of about 150 million Americans that play video games. Alicia Ault, an
author of a video gaming and learning article wrote that the "biggest converts to video games are
educators, who are using them to teach such subjects as history, geography, science and math and to
hone students ' critical–thinking abilities" (Ault). According to a Pew Internet & American Life
Project survey, half of the experts surveyed predicted that gamification, or the use of games by
educators and companies to turn work into a game, would become a major factor in education,
health care and the workplace by 2020 (Pew Research Center). I believe that this gamification going
on throughout schools could help student learn. Elizabeth Box, a civics teacher in a Florida middle
school, started noticing a decline in kids' engagement. They didn't care, their parents didn't care, and
they were failing. Box knew that she needed to do something in order to make them study again. So,
she researched online and found a blog called Teched–up Teacher by Chris Aviles that made her
class into a video game. Her classroom went from a 30 percent assignment completion rate to 100
percent. In the end, all of her students get their work done, everyone logs in outside of school, and
every single one is passing her civics class. This shows that gaming is helping out teachers complete

Social Media Disadvantages
Social media affects many people's lives. The world has changed so much in the last twenty years,
and contributing factors like the invention of the phone and computer are a large part of the journey.
Teenagers can now talk to anyone, anywhere, at any time. Although it is true that there are dangers
within social media, its benefits outweigh the drawbacks. Social media platforms are positive outlets
for teens and young adults to express themselves. Firstly, negative effects of social media are less
common than parents think. More than 70% of US teens use applications or social platforms on
their phones, often daily according to a Pew Research Center report (Pew). Social media allows
teens to have control over their lives, and according to this statistic, the majority are. Many teens are
affected by the examples people lead on social media. Using apps and such can help a teen's self–
esteem, boost their mood, and give them the ability to communicate better. During their years, teens
develop qualities like independence. They discover their identity and want to reach out to others.
Technology, especially apps like Snapchat or Instagram provide a new perspective for teens to view
and help create their identity. Shira Lee Katz, Common Sense Media's Director of Digital Media,
explains, "Teens said that they feel that social media has a more positive than negative impact on
their lives." She also states, "They believe social media helps their friendships, makes them feel

Introduction:
From the beginning of times it has always been the women's responsibility to rear the children and
keep the house tidy, traditional wifely duties. Why? Because kids come from inside of women? Pew
Research Center, reports that men spend 4.8 hours a week (in 2011) more with their children than
they did in 1965 and six more hours a week (in 2011) on household duties and chores. Women
actually spend less time than they did in 1965, a reported fourteen hours less a week in 2011 (USA
Today, 2013) .Men and women are learning to work together. Work/life balance is becoming a
shared priority which in 1965 was not as women spent most the time in the home. I do find it very
interesting that men and women with children both spend about 10 hours less doing leisure activities
with kids (USA Today, 2013); I find it interesting only because the number is so much higher than
originally thought which suggests that teamwork between husband and wife is beneficial to
everyone making better relationships. The percentage of stay at home dads has increased by 3% in
1989 to 7% in 2012 (Pew Research Center, USA Today).
"Fathers are extremely conflicted today," says Christopher Brown of Cedar Park, Texas, who is

Social Media Is A Form Of Political Activism
Social media is a form of political activism that has received a significant amount of debate. Does it
offer major value to political parties hoping to gain traction with key demographics? Or does it
simply detract from the real message, creating a giant distraction that does not turn into actual voter
turnout? Pew Research Institute and others have shown that social media popularity has actually led
to improvements in voter turnout and that there is a positive correlation between a candidate's
Facebook likes and his or her actual voter numbers. This conclusively shows that social media has
real political value, offering a candidate the opportunity to communicate a point to many new
viewers who may have otherwise never heard the message. Today, many candidates are using social
media to the exclusion of more expensive methods like TV campaigns, because they are able to
gather significant support with the added expense. Social media has also provided many groups with
the opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings and to recruit new members. Regardless of what
a group believes, it can create a social media account and work to share its message with others.
This may seem like a fairly simple opportunity at first, but it offers a significant value to many
marginalized communities, especially those with very little money. As social media is free, it does
not discriminate against people who do not have money and can instead be adopted by basically
anyone. This means that

Media Hurt Relationships
Social Media Can Hurt Relationships Nearly all communications are now done through some form
of social media. Today around "seven–in–ten Americans use social media" to connect with their
friends or to entertain themselves. In 2005 when the Pew Research Center began to track social
media use, just "5% of American adults used at least one of these platforms" and by 2011 half of all
Americans began to use social media (Pew Research Center). Today "69% of the public uses some
type of social media" (Pew Research Center). Social media can negatively hurt relationships
because of miscommunication and words are exchanged that normally would not be exchanged in
person.
Relationships are put on the line due to social media. The Pew Research Center says that overall
reports have shown that "young adults are more likely to report tension in their relationships over
technology use" while just "one in ten online adults 65 and older say the same" (Lenhart &
Duggan). A girl will not have a good first impression if a guy is on his phone the whole time while
on their first date or vice versa. Family relationships and trust will have a hard time growing if a
parent communicates with their child or a child lets their parent know something through social
media. Words are exchanged that normally would not be exchanged in person. Since social media is
at our fingertips, it is easy to "write impulsively and based on emotions which may be temporary"
(Siegel). Soon, what was once our personal life

Reading Comprehension Is An Essential Skill For Reasoning...
Reading comprehension is an essential skill for reasoning and for functioning well in everyday life.
The SAT is a test that measures these skills and it is a crucial part of high school students to be
admitted into post–secondary schools. A test of this magnitude combined with the increasing
competition in college admissions should have test scores increasing as each year passes, but
instead, a reverse trend is occurring. The average reading scores have decreased in the last four
decades, having dropped an average of thirty–three points from 1972 (Chandler). These drastic
decreases in the scores can be attributed to the change in demographics of the test takers and the
advancement of technological goods in everyday life. Reading scores have dropped primarily
because of the increasing amount of different individuals taking the test. First introduced in the early
1900s, the primary test takers of the SAT were American, rich, white males. In the next century test
takers have grown tremendously, nearing two million high school seniors. Students from all races,
backgrounds and nationalities take the test now. With the increase in the number of students taking
the SAT, more and more high school students who speak English as a second language are taking
the standardized test. Forty–eight percent of all Hispanic students took the test in 2011, whereas
forty years ago, only a fraction of Hispanic students took the test (Chandler). The

Phones Down, Faces Up Sherry Turkle 's Stop Googling Essay
Phones Down, Faces Up Sherry Turkle's "Stop Googling. Let's Talk" article was published on
September 26, 2015 in The New York Times. The author explains that college students spend more
time on their phones than talking face–to–face. Turkle mentions that parents have realized this at the
dinner table with their kids or just trying to have a conversation with them. Teenagers and young
adults claim that they can multitask and understand what the person is saying while being
preoccupied. Multiple studies have been done to demonstrate the influence and behaviorial changes
without a device. This generation reports that they feel more personal when their phones were taken
away for a certain period of time. A boy from one of the studies describes this dilemma as "It's what
texting does to our conversation when we are together that's the problem" (Turkle par. 6). Texting
has become more popular as time goes on and college students were born in a world where phones
were a problem and with new features coming out, they have become more intrigued. Using
rhetorical strategies such as mentioning research studies and rhetorical appeals, the author
effectively explains how technology changes society. Sherry Turkle is a professor for Social Studies
of Science and Technology at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She graduated from Harvard
University with a doctorate in sociology and personality psychology. She is qualified with topics

Religious Repression And Its Effects On Religion
Introduction Despite religious freedom being a fundamental human right under international law,
more than 5.1 billion people live in countries with strict religious restrictions (Johnson, 2013). In a
more and more connected global community, religious persecution is on the rise, according to pew
researchers (Johnson, 2013). Religious repression worldwide can be attributed to mob violence
against minority religions, sacrilege of holy sites, detentions of religious enemies, and many more
crimes against humanity (Johnson, 2013). The nature of Fundamentalism is called into question, as
extremist religious figures lead intolerance of other religions, resulting to violence and ethnic
cleansing to make their interpretation the only interpretation (Johnson, 2013). Questions are raised
over the U.S inclusion of religious freedom in its foreign policy, and a remedy of the ineffectiveness
of the Presidential Administrations since the Religious Freedom Act (Johnson, 2013).
What pattern did recent Pew researchers measuring restrictions on religion worldwide find? What
do various experts attribute the increase in religious persecution? The Pew Research Center's Forum
on Religion and Public Life has found that in recent years, that religious restrictions have been and
continue to rise in every region of the world, indicating a global trend of religious persecution
worldwide (Johnson, 2013). This pattern demonstrates religious persecution and physical violence

Partisan Polarization Has Been An Issue For Many Americans
According to the Pew Research Center, partisan polarization has been an issue for many Americans
for a long period of time. Meaning, that those Americans are not in complete agreement with either
republican or democratic parties, their ideas, and standards. In response, the Pew Research Center
made an anonymous survey in an attempt to find and categorize people's typology. If one were to
take the quiz, their answers would create the their new typology and show how it may correspond
with either partisan parties. When I took the Pew Research Center quiz, I found out that I am in the
Faith and Family Left typology category. I agree with my given typology to a certain extent. Due to
the limited number of answers of the quiz and the way questions were worded, it forced me to make
uncomfortable choices, which weakened my ability to agree with my results. Although, the quiz did
include all government issues and involvements, I think the most prominent issue is foreign
involvement, specifically, the Islamic State in which the government will have to become more
active and continue to be involved in with the Islamic State. Faith and Family Left does, in fact,
capture the majority of how I view issues of politics and public policy. I do believe that government
support is an important role for the government to have in order to better the country. Next, it is said

The Impact Of Social Media On Society
The rapid growth and innovation of technology has had a lasting effect on the people of this
generation. Tasks are done faster; life is more efficient. But the same efficiency that has made our
quality of life better, has a hand in decreasing the quality of relationships around us. Sherry Turkle
and Zeynep Tufekci both believe social media has done well to our society, but disagree on whether
or not it is making human relationships grow apart. Social media is a double–edged sword; it brings
people together that are physically apart by five hours, or even 30 minutes, but it also has negative
effects on the quality of the relationships we have with these people. There seems to be several
obstacles that want to get in the way of human relationships. Distance was the first– people
travelling away from their homes to establish themselves in a new place. When at this new place,
work came next. It effectively kept a person away from their immediate family all day long. Now, it
is arguable that social media is what keeps us apart when we are finally together with family and
friends. Distance and work keeps us apart in a physical sense, whereas social media is more on an
emotional level. On the flip side, social media helps people to connect with family or make
completely new friends that would have been otherwise impossible. These new communities can
enhance a person's network and satisfy their social needs. The differing viewpoints have similarities,

Words To Describe Chris
There are many people in this world who hold great reputations. There are far fewer people who

Chris stands a little over 6 feet tall with thick, dirty blonde hair. His piercing blue eyes change color

effect on his personality. He doesn't seem to take anything personally.
I once asked him if he had ever gotten angry. He replied, « More times than you can ever know ! »
But I have never seen this side of him. He tends to cover his anger and hurt very well. He never
takes his anger out on his friends. When he is upset, he normally starts humming a christian tune in
his mind to allievate himself from the frustration he feels.
In addition to this, Chris is an extremely educated young man who will one day become very
successful. As an engineering student, he is on a full NASA scholarship, and receives many other

The Social Media And Digital Media

  • 1. The Social Media And Digital Media The template/sample can be found in the appendix, as well as all the results summarized by Google Form. 20 people took the survey in a lapse time of 5 days between October 12 and October 17. The survey suggested that half of the surveyed had a Bachelor's degree and 75% of them are single, never married. Most of them (65%) had between 18 and 24 year old and took the survey via social media. The other category mostly represented (20%) was between 45 and 54 year old and took the survey sent my email. Knowing that most of the person who answered the survey was in the young generation I will focus my analysis on them. It is interesting to get to know more about their own perception of media. They haven't lived the transition between traditional media and digital media like the other older generation did. They have an all–new look on media but still do not trust them. Only 25% of the surveyed answer "social media" to the question "Please choose a media outlet you think is the most trustworthy ». The Generation Y should trusts the tools they use the most but surprisingly, for them the trustworthiest outlets were Newspaper and radio with 30%. People mostly trust radio and newspaper but still, 55% of them choose social media to access current news on the daily basis. The question here is; why do people go on media they don't trust? More the surveyed answered questions, more it was obvious that the majority was relying on social media and new outlet to get updates on the latest news. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. The Importance Of Ignorance Ignorance is the lack of knowledge or information. In the root of ignorance, it is natural to not know information once a person is born; this is sometime referred to as the age of innocence. Ignorance becomes unacceptable through education; if a student does not know, a student does not pass. Being a well–informed citizen in a complex society can be overwhelming with today's stifled and persuasive media, yet there is no report card to fail adults, often no penalty to pay and seemingly no consequences for being ignorant as an adult. There is a large amount of power for an American to know their civil rights and frankly it is the only power they have; this knowledge greatly shapes their social and economic mobility. The definition of civil rights is protection provided by government, for the right to be free from discrimination. Why is this important: constitutionally or not, it would be hard to find people to agree that big business has the right to dominate America economically, yet effectively this is happening with one supreme court decision. Socially in America and really anywhere in world there are three entities that greatly shape a citizen's social horizons, they are money, power, and education. Not knowing something is the same as being ignorant of that something. Ignorance is the root of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Big business has begun to lead government in controlling America, and to change, ignorance is not the solution, ignorance is the root of what enables what people don't know, will hurt them. Knowledge of the truth of these issues and sovereignty of the American people are the only things that can take back America, so Americans should talk to neighbors, friends, and family, start talking about politics and find the truth to answers; start voting and not just on the presidential election, and take back ... • 3. Social Media Trust To start this analysis off, I asked myself what do these sources say about how can social media be used to influence people's trust in the government. A large number of people potentially get some of their news from social media and this is proven by a 2016 Pew Research Center survey, which states 69 percent of US adults use social media. This also makes a lot of people vulnerable to receiving and believing false information. The authors of "Campus politics, student societies and social media" said "The very ease of access and the potential rapid and widespread 'viral' dissemi–nation of content led to expressions of concern that social media could amplify misinformation. 'Facts', it was claimed, could be misconstrued, taken out of context ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From observing and analyzing sources, it seems one way to gain people's trust in the government is to not just use social media to give the most up–to–date information, but to take advantage of social media to reduce the distance between the people and government officials, which in turn creates more trust in the government. I will call this theory 'Social Government'. However, false and biased news can negatively influence people's trust, it's up to the government to present accurate and reliable information on social media and elsewhere. I am aware that there are many factors that affects one's trust in the government such as political parties. The 'social government' theory is only a part of the puzzle. This theory is important because many people use social media and this is a great opportunity for the government to get closer to the citizens and those citizens could potentially become more active in ... • 4. Since Its Creation In 1958, The National Aeronautics And Since its creation in 1958, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has had a number of high profile failures, but these breakdowns are heavily outweighed by the multitude of successful missions they have flown. NASA is a very large, well–known government organization with many moving parts within its system. In its 59 years of existence, many of their policies have been slow to change to keep up with modern standards and operations. In spite of this creeping pace of change, the communication department within NASA has been ahead by leaps and bounds when compared to other government organizations. After locating 4 samples of public communication taken from NASA, I have identified a positive change in the communication ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The telecommunication process came about as the result of NASA creations to advance the technology that is available to businesses and spur growth in the United States. "Thirty–seven percent of U.S. workers say they have telecommuted, up slightly from 30% last decade but four times greater than the 9% found in 1995." (Gallup). I found a frequently asked questions (FAQ) communication sample that NASA employees can use for their instant meeting audio conferencing. NASA has branches across the country, spanning both space and time zones, which can cause issues with scheduling meetings. NASA benefits from the research and development they put into telecommunication by being able to communicate across both space and time. This communication sample highlights the use of rich media technology channels to transmit information. In this instance, the rich media they are utilizing is the audio conference calls to transmit data heavy communication. The use of the FAQ sample also points to the organization's use of technologically advanced systems to assist employees in communicating across a variety of platforms. The option of technology in organizations can improve and promote collaboration among team members, which is important when half of a team is at a different location than the other. For example, members of NASA Langley ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Politics Is Not Inherently Exciting The time has come to vote. Long and careful thought has been put into selecting the right candidate, the right person to lead this country. However, before making the selection on the ballot, what would one do if none of the candidates were qualified to lead this country? It is once again time to elect a president into office, but with the options of Donald Trump, Hilary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, and several other president hopefuls, many people would rather choose none of the above. Government is obviously different and ever changing. The issue is the current American system of government is beginning to deteriorate, and it is taking the presidential candidates down simultaneously. Often times when people think of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not to mention, this comment from Rubio is nearly hypocritical compared to an earlier statement, "The presidency is not a reality TV show, It's not the political version of 'Survivor,'" (O'Keefe March, 2). This helps Rubio to maintain his persona as the honest optimistic one with his eyes set on the future, but in fact he is on to something. Even though his opinion is that the "disintegration of our culture" is to blame, truth can be found, in fact the disintegration of our culture applies to the candidates as well. Although presidential campaigns are not a stranger to violence, both sides are only adding fuel to this fire. A more specific example is the fact Trump is using words that aggravate people, and already people are beginning to lash out. Gov. John Kasich of Ohio stated. "There is no place for a national leader to prey on the fear of people." (Barbaro, Parker, and Gabrielmarch, 1) Unfortunately, that is exactly how these candidates are calling attention to themselves in an attempt to make a statement. That strategy does have its desired affect, but when rallies end in pepper spray stand offs and Secret Service agents encircling a candidate, something is corrupt within the system. Still, some believe the media is terribly biased and that is the problem undermining present day politics. Although bias has been found in reporting, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Dating Vs Technology In the world of today, two words that constantly come up are change and improvement. These two words directly tie into the widespread, worldwide use of technology. Everything we do involves technology. And we are always looking for ways to change it to improve something in our lives. We are always striving to make things faster, easier, more efficient. But what you need to ask yourself is this: Are these improvements in technology actually helping me? Are they really making my life any easier? These are questions I asked as I strove to find out why, in a world centered around improvements, relationships are falling apart, and in such high quantities. In conducting research it was becoming apparent that there were two, somewhat distinct, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These mediums are most commonly used because they provide an endless amount of opportunities for any individual. The basic set up of dating websites is you enter information about yourself and what you are looking for in a partner and then begin surfing the website for a soulmate. According to Jonathan Pitts article on: Online Dating Advantages, online dating is not only becoming a normal part of the dating scheme, its also very convenient. He explains it in with one particular scenario: "After all you couldn't go into a nightclub or a bar, ask all the people to line up and then split them into several categories judged on personality, body type, hair color, hobbies and interests and even salary range...but you can online..." Another advantage that Pitts mentioned was the fact that using social media is that it is safer so that you are able to tell what the person really likes and how they will really react to different things. Using social media and dating websites for relationships very often leads to the sending of intimate photographs to other people's phones, called sexting. This process has positive impacts on relationships because it is said to add an extra spark to an already occurring relationship, as well as making long distance relationships more bearable, just to name a few. (How is Technology Shaping Romance?). In other words, it really is used to increase the intimacy of a relationship, which is generally what people are looking for in a ... • 7. College Worth It Essay Mrs. Vilato Eng. 003 7, February 2012 College: The Greatest Decision You Can Make "In the United States today, there is no more certain investment than a college education"(Carnevale and Melton). Education has always been a major component of American society. One can only go so far without an education, and the more education and knowledge someone has, the better their chances of being successful. Some people believe a high school education is enough, and it is, enough to land a job at a fast food restaurant. I speculate they feel this way because they feel school is not for them, or maybe they just do not want to go far in life. To get far in life people must go above and beyond, and learn things that others do not know to make them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In reference to jobs "55% [said] it was very useful in helping them prepare for a job or career". The data from the study supports my assertions of what college provides students with, which is a strong foundation for joining the work force. College also gives students connections. While taking part in activities students make friends and meet people with all kinds of goals for the future. These connections make life easier after college. Students meet friends that have connections to internships, jobs, summer programs and with the help of their friends, students can find themselves in one of these if not more resume building opportunities. Meeting new people and participating in activities make students appear very diverse in turn, more appealing to employers. Another benefit of college is the education that one receives. Not only does one learn about a specific field that other people only have general to no knowledge about, but they essentially become a specialist in a few areas. College forces people to pick their main interests and focus on them. The further they take their education, the more knowledgeable they become in particular fields. Picking a major and minor (sometimes double major and double minor) narrows choices when employers are seeking workers because they want people with a specific skill set, and specific knowledge. Most degrees can give students the opportunity to obtain high paying jobs. Now, while it is true that right out of college ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Gender Equality Essay Gender Equality in Today's Workforce In today's business environment, women get paid on average 12–30% less than men. This affects their ways of living and retirement options. To this day, women still have less rights when it comes to workforce in many Asian and European countries. Men are the preferred gender because they are perceived to be smarter. In many countries, women are limited on the amount of education they can receive. Women are not treated fairly in the workforce because it harder for them to get jobs, they get paid less than men, and men are thought to be smarter than women. It is very difficult for women to get jobs compared to men. Men are the preferred choice of employment over women in many situations ("Chapter 4"). Even when the job might be more suited for a female, men are still preferred in some places. Currently the only country to not permit women to drive is Saudi Arabia. This makes it very hard for those women to get jobs. Although it is harder, women are trying very hard and are joining the workforce in huge numbers. These women are then forced to share the money they have earned with their husbands. Saudi women are making a statement but saying that a woman that is working should get to spend what she has earned ("Movement Grows In"). This shows that women are making a difference and standing up for what they believe should happen in the workforce. Obamacare : The Affordable Care Act During his presidential announcement speech, Trump's presented his ideas on how he will bring the American back to life since the American dream is dead in his perspective. Among all the claims he expresses his thoughts on Obamacare, also known as the Affordable Care Act. He affirms "We have a disaster called the big lie: Obamacare. Obamacare." and admits that indeed Obamacare will really kick in 2016. Trump plans on repealing and replacing Obamacare. He plans on granting better health insurance to everyone at an inexpensive cost for the people and for the government. Trump exaggerates the cost to persuade his Republican audience into believing of Obamacare as a catastrophe, however, he fails to backup the data he presents not to mention that the data is wrong. During Trump 's presidential speech he describes Obamacare as "a big lie." He declares that "costs are going for people up 29, 39, 49, and even 55 percent, and deductibles are through the roof." Consequently, you would have to get hit by a tractor to use it because deductibles are so high. In other words, Trump illustrates Obamacare as useless. In addition, he speaks upon the Obamacare website by stating that we spent "$5 billion... and to this day it doesn't work." • 10. Analysis Of The Unluckiest Generation My oldest sister has always been a hard worker. She was the top percent of her class, always has good grades and graduated with a high GPA. She even did all this with a job. But when she attempted to be an "adult" and rent an apartment with her friend it didn't go as planned and she later moved back in with us. Many of these situations like this happen to this generation why? what is causing this delay in adulthood? In the article "the unluckiest generation: what will become of the millennials", Derek Thompson explains why generation Y is unluckiest economically. Throughout the article Thompson goes back and forth giving negative and positive things generation Y has. Thompson mentions how generation Y has gone through many terrible events, but it did not prepare them for the "economic sledgehammer" after the collapse of the market. He states that this can affect generation Y "for the rest of their working lives."Thompson argues that because of the bad economy, adults are not moving out their parents' home and is causing millennials not to buy houses. He believe that because generation Y is not buying houses or cars it is causing the economy not to move forward. He acknowledges that this generation is the most educated but that it also comes with problems. However, Thompson includes the positives of cheaper food, apparel, and entertainment. • 11. The Effects Of Excessive Time With Technology As seen on CBS news, a man was so immersed in his cell phone that he missed a beautiful humpback whale surface right next to his boat. Not that missing a whale surface isn't bad enough, however, spending too much time with technology and media causes more loss than we know. Overuse of technology and media socially isolates our generation, destroys their social skills, and allows them to be prone to health issues. Obsessive use of technology socially isolates us and destroys our social skills. The first effect of excessive time with technology and media is social isolation. As published in the New York Times article "Antisocial Networking", the Pew Research Center found that half of American teenagers – defined in the study as ages 12 through 17 – send 50 or more text messages a day and that one third send more than 100 a day. Two thirds of the texters surveyed by the center's Internet and American Life Project said they were more likely to use their cell phones to text friends than to call them. Fifty–four percent said they text their friends once a day, but only 33 percent said they talk to their friends face–to–face on a daily basis. This research is proof that children are more willing to text their friends rather than to talk with them, therefore they are less likely to meet their friends in person as often as they text. So although kids chat through their cell phones, they are still socially isolated when it comes to having real conversations. Next, overuse of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Working Mothers Essays Working Mothers Carrie Grubb Axia College of University of Phoenix Working Mothers In previous generations, women had one role to accomplish; to care for their children. As mothers, women were required to play the role of June Cleaver. Mothers need to care for the children and keep the home in smooth working order. After many protests, women wanted to empower their equal rights, and become career women. Thanks to women's perseverance, today women are able to work, and be just as qualified as men in their careers. Yet, there is still the debate over whether mothers should work, or be stay–at– home mothers. There are many debates over the focus of the added daycare expense. Children are often only put into daycare to help assist the working mother. In return, this adds more pressure to the mother, because daycare is an added expense. In the old days men worked while the wives stayed at home. This helped to eliminate the added expense of daycare. Now mothers want to work and choose to use daycare. The question is if the family can afford the daycare expense. Some of the mothers who work, their salaries pay just the daycare expense. Their wages are not helping their families; the extra wages are just breaking even. If mothers choose to work, they have to decide if the family can basically live on one income. Furthermore, there is the issue about the addition of a working mother's income, what happens if the parents divorce, the husband passes away, or the husband becomes injured, and he can not work? The working mother can be beneficial. If a mother has a career, and a solid financial income, it can secure that the mother, and her family will be more financially stable. With the possible loss of the main income source, this can be devastating to the mother, and her children. The mother would have to worry more about the lack of income instead of making the choice of sending her children to daycare. In fact studies have shown that children who attend daycare are more successful in socializing as they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Constant Technology And Social Isolation Constant technology and social media is a tightrope walk, one gust of wind, one misstep and it can be catastrophic for society. Technology has the potential to make our society a better place but it also could lead to the downfall of humanity. First and foremost, our new technology causes isolation between people. I've seen people ignored in favor of their cellphones. The Pew Research institute found that Americans discussion networks have shrunken by about a third since 1985 and have become less diverse because they contain few non–family members. This social isolation is caused by the new technology that pushes us further and further from each other. Furthermore, this social isolation can be compared to Ray Bradbury's character Mildred, who is an emotionally numb women who cares more about her television then her own husband. Mildred has made no deep social connections not even with her own husband. Her social isolation has gone so far that Montag realizes that he would not cry over her death. Although it is an extreme it's not too far off from what our world could be like if we don't start taking face to face communication seriously. While I acknowledge the isolation caused by technology, I also realize that it is not such a simple matter. Social media opened up a new platform for people to ... According to the Pew Research Center (2017), "Today around seven–in–ten Americans use social media to connect with one another, engage with news content, share information and entertain themselves." Today's media is negatively affecting millennial behavior, physical health, and mental health. Media is affecting the behavior of millennials. Children, on average, watch around twelve–thousand acts of violence on televisionTV each year, such as murder or even sexual assault. Several studies show that this kind of exposure can lead to aggressive behavior (PMC, 2003, para. 9). Media is also becoming a heavy influence on sexual morality, portraying sex outside of marriage as common and seldom mentioning its risks and dangers. Studies show how susceptible teens are to media's influence on sexual behavior (PMC, 2003, para. 12–13). Drugs are promoted by the media to today's audience as well. Celebrities are often seen and imitated by millennials as role models; but news and media often highlight the negative things that they do, portraying sex, drugs, and other addictions as normative (Mondal, n.d., para. 6). Meier and Musick suggest that the blame does not fall on millennials, but the parents. Parents are held accountable for several reasons, the first is that parents are the ones who purchase the gadgets and give permission for them to be used. Parents have the power in this relationship that is why families must be educated on the pitfalls of technology. I agree with Annie Murphy Paul, a writer for the magazine, Good House Keeping point that parents are responsible for children's usage of technology. In Paul's article she cited a study that was reported by the American Journal of Epidemiology which reported that "while half of parents surveyed in a 2010 study said they always or often set limits on screen time, 18 percent of their kids really disagreed" (Paul). This highlights a key discrepancy between parents and children. In the eyes of children parents do not restrict children enough. This is exactly what Alessondra Villegas, a researcher at Fordham University, states in her journal. She claims that parents must be able to develop clear rules and that parents must also be firm with the boundaries that are set forth (Villegas 2–3). In Villegas's research she found that parents use technology to watch their children. • 19. Argumentative Essay On Social Media Social media is a game changing invention but it has come with a hefty amount of backlash. When I was younger I didn't have a phone and social media was nothing compared to how it is now present day. It's astonishing just how far the internet and social media have come. Not just when it comes to how advanced or how widespread they've become, what shocks me is just how influential social media has become. It's almost borderline unsettling how much humans as a whole rely and depend on social media for nearly everything they know or want to discover. Social media has become not only a way to locate others and communicate with others but a way for people to learn and stay informed and aware of what goes on outside the doors of their cozy little nook. Looking back to my childhood days, I recall lounging on the couch with my mother in the morning watching news on the television but now that has become a distant memory if I need news today, I get it from social media on my cell phone. The poor television in the living room has become obsolete from lack of use because of a boost in social media's involvement with news and correct political issues. Research is vital to a paper which is why I carefully selected where and what information I picked to include and work on. I started early on research by just diving in full force on just social media as a whole. My research mainly just focused in on social media as a whole and how it has adapted and evolved over time. This opened some doors for me because it widened my eyes to just how fast and how influential social media became. Not to far ago in the recent past social media and the internet itself wasn't much more than just an infant but, today social media is a giant that controls our every action. I also hand crafted a survey, but couldn't gather enough data from it to use it effectively. I looked at social media and its impact and role in the news. From this I focused on Snapchat and it's global stories like Brother and others. Just in general I did research on how social media depicts news and global events and how that impacted how people actually comprehend the information presented to them. Technology has made many positive impacts on adolescents such as online schooling, the ability to meet new people, the opportunity to express and give their opinions, the ability to express themselves, and also the resources to keep in contact with friends and family. Although there are many positives to technology, there are also negatives such as distractions, technical difficulties, cyberbullying, online hackers, and availability of resources. • 29. Social Media Disadvantages Social media affects many people's lives. The world has changed so much in the last twenty years, and contributing factors like the invention of the phone and computer are a large part of the journey. Teenagers can now talk to anyone, anywhere, at any time. Although it is true that there are dangers within social media, its benefits outweigh the drawbacks. Social media platforms are positive outlets for teens and young adults to express themselves. Firstly, negative effects of social media are less common than parents think. More than 70% of US teens use applications or social platforms on their phones, often daily according to a Pew Research Center report (Pew). Social media allows teens to have control over their lives, and according to this statistic, the majority are. Many teens are affected by the examples people lead on social media. Using apps and such can help a teen's self– esteem, boost their mood, and give them the ability to communicate better. During their years, teens develop qualities like independence. They discover their identity and want to reach out to others. Technology, especially apps like Snapchat or Instagram provide a new perspective for teens to view and help create their identity. • 30. Women's Responsibility Of Rear The Children And Keep The... Introduction: From the beginning of times it has always been the women's responsibility to rear the children and keep the house tidy, traditional wifely duties. Why? Because kids come from inside of women? Pew Research Center, reports that men spend 4.8 hours a week (in 2011) more with their children than they did in 1965 and six more hours a week (in 2011) on household duties and chores. Women actually spend less time than they did in 1965, a reported fourteen hours less a week in 2011 (USA Today, 2013) .Men and women are learning to work together. Work/life balance is becoming a shared priority which in 1965 was not as women spent most the time in the home. I do find it very interesting that men and women with children both spend about 10 hours less doing leisure activities with kids (USA Today, 2013); I find it interesting only because the number is so much higher than originally thought which suggests that teamwork between husband and wife is beneficial to everyone making better relationships. The percentage of stay at home dads has increased by 3% in 1989 to 7% in 2012 (Pew Research Center, USA Today). "Fathers are extremely conflicted today," says Christopher Brown of Cedar Park, Texas, who is executive vice president of the National Fatherhood Initiative, a nonprofit based in Germantown, Md. "Many years ago, the father was looked at primarily as a financial provider. Now he 's looked at in a much more holistic sense of what providing means. It 's not just financial – ... • 31. Social Media Is A Form Of Political Activism Social media is a form of political activism that has received a significant amount of debate. Does it offer major value to political parties hoping to gain traction with key demographics? Or does it simply detract from the real message, creating a giant distraction that does not turn into actual voter turnout? Pew Research Institute and others have shown that social media popularity has actually led to improvements in voter turnout and that there is a positive correlation between a candidate's Facebook likes and his or her actual voter numbers. This conclusively shows that social media has real political value, offering a candidate the opportunity to communicate a point to many new viewers who may have otherwise never heard the message. Today, many candidates are using social media to the exclusion of more expensive methods like TV campaigns, because they are able to gather significant support with the added expense. Social media has also provided many groups with the opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings and to recruit new members. Regardless of what a group believes, it can create a social media account and work to share its message with others. This may seem like a fairly simple opportunity at first, but it offers a significant value to many marginalized communities, especially those with very little money. As social media is free, it does not discriminate against people who do not have money and can instead be adopted by basically anyone. This means that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Media Hurt Relationships Social Media Can Hurt Relationships Nearly all communications are now done through some form of social media. Today around "seven–in–ten Americans use social media" to connect with their friends or to entertain themselves. In 2005 when the Pew Research Center began to track social media use, just "5% of American adults used at least one of these platforms" and by 2011 half of all Americans began to use social media (Pew Research Center). Today "69% of the public uses some type of social media" (Pew Research Center). Social media can negatively hurt relationships because of miscommunication and words are exchanged that normally would not be exchanged in person. Relationships are put on the line due to social media. The Pew Research Center says that overall reports have shown that "young adults are more likely to report tension in their relationships over technology use" while just "one in ten online adults 65 and older say the same" (Lenhart & Duggan). A girl will not have a good first impression if a guy is on his phone the whole time while on their first date or vice versa. Family relationships and trust will have a hard time growing if a parent communicates with their child or a child lets their parent know something through social media. Words are exchanged that normally would not be exchanged in person. Since social media is at our fingertips, it is easy to "write impulsively and based on emotions which may be temporary" (Siegel). • 33. Reading Comprehension Is An Essential Skill For Reasoning... Reading comprehension is an essential skill for reasoning and for functioning well in everyday life. The SAT is a test that measures these skills and it is a crucial part of high school students to be admitted into post–secondary schools. A test of this magnitude combined with the increasing competition in college admissions should have test scores increasing as each year passes, but instead, a reverse trend is occurring. The average reading scores have decreased in the last four decades, having dropped an average of thirty–three points from 1972 (Chandler). These drastic decreases in the scores can be attributed to the change in demographics of the test takers and the advancement of technological goods in everyday life. Reading scores have dropped primarily because of the increasing amount of different individuals taking the test. First introduced in the early 1900s, the primary test takers of the SAT were American, rich, white males. In the next century test takers have grown tremendously, nearing two million high school seniors. Students from all races, backgrounds and nationalities take the test now. With the increase in the number of students taking the SAT, more and more high school students who speak English as a second language are taking the standardized test. Forty–eight percent of all Hispanic students took the test in 2011, whereas forty years ago, only a fraction of Hispanic students took the test (Chandler). The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Phones Down, Faces Up Sherry Turkle 's Stop Googling Essay Phones Down, Faces Up Sherry Turkle's "Stop Googling. Let's Talk" article was published on September 26, 2015 in The New York Times. The author explains that college students spend more time on their phones than talking face–to–face. Turkle mentions that parents have realized this at the dinner table with their kids or just trying to have a conversation with them. Teenagers and young adults claim that they can multitask and understand what the person is saying while being preoccupied. Multiple studies have been done to demonstrate the influence and behaviorial changes without a device. This generation reports that they feel more personal when their phones were taken away for a certain period of time. A boy from one of the studies describes this dilemma as "It's what texting does to our conversation when we are together that's the problem" (Turkle par. 6). Texting has become more popular as time goes on and college students were born in a world where phones were a problem and with new features coming out, they have become more intrigued. Using rhetorical strategies such as mentioning research studies and rhetorical appeals, the author effectively explains how technology changes society. Sherry Turkle is a professor for Social Studies of Science and Technology at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She graduated from Harvard University with a doctorate in sociology and personality psychology. She is qualified with topics such as culture and therapy, mobile technology, ... • 35. Religious Repression And Its Effects On Religion Introduction Despite religious freedom being a fundamental human right under international law, more than 5.1 billion people live in countries with strict religious restrictions (Johnson, 2013). In a more and more connected global community, religious persecution is on the rise, according to pew researchers (Johnson, 2013). Religious repression worldwide can be attributed to mob violence against minority religions, sacrilege of holy sites, detentions of religious enemies, and many more crimes against humanity (Johnson, 2013). The nature of Fundamentalism is called into question, as extremist religious figures lead intolerance of other religions, resulting to violence and ethnic cleansing to make their interpretation the only interpretation (Johnson, 2013). Questions are raised over the U.S inclusion of religious freedom in its foreign policy, and a remedy of the ineffectiveness of the Presidential Administrations since the Religious Freedom Act (Johnson, 2013). What pattern did recent Pew researchers measuring restrictions on religion worldwide find? What do various experts attribute the increase in religious persecution? The Pew Research Center's Forum on Religion and Public Life has found that in recent years, that religious restrictions have been and continue to rise in every region of the world, indicating a global trend of religious persecution worldwide (Johnson, 2013). This pattern demonstrates religious persecution and physical violence are higher in areas with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Partisan Polarization Has Been An Issue For Many Americans According to the Pew Research Center, partisan polarization has been an issue for many Americans for a long period of time. Meaning, that those Americans are not in complete agreement with either republican or democratic parties, their ideas, and standards. In response, the Pew Research Center made an anonymous survey in an attempt to find and categorize people's typology. If one were to take the quiz, their answers would create the their new typology and show how it may correspond with either partisan parties. When I took the Pew Research Center quiz, I found out that I am in the Faith and Family Left typology category. I agree with my given typology to a certain extent. Due to the limited number of answers of the quiz and the way questions were worded, it forced me to make uncomfortable choices, which weakened my ability to agree with my results. Although, the quiz did include all government issues and involvements, I think the most prominent issue is foreign involvement, specifically, the Islamic State in which the government will have to become more active and continue to be involved in with the Islamic State. Faith and Family Left does, in fact, capture the majority of how I view issues of politics and public policy. I do believe that government support is an important role for the government to have in order to better the country. Next, it is said that the majority of people who are Faith and Family Left oppose same–sex marriage and legalization of marijuana, in which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. College Students Are Not Worth Attending College All throughout primary and secondary education, especially high school, educators and administrators drill into the heads of students that the main goal at the end is to attend college, to obtain a degree that ensures a successful life. What they don't reveal is the colossal cost of tuition that the average American cannot afford, instead they speak of scholarships that can be awarded to outstanding students. Once again they do not come to realize that not all students can be awarded scholarships or qualify for financial aid without placing students into debt, which is the majority of Americans who dream of attending college. Thus, college is not worth attending at its current cost because, college graduates still pay off their debts years ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 38. The Impact Of Social Media On Society The rapid growth and innovation of technology has had a lasting effect on the people of this generation. Tasks are done faster; life is more efficient. But the same efficiency that has made our quality of life better, has a hand in decreasing the quality of relationships around us. Sherry Turkle and Zeynep Tufekci both believe social media has done well to our society, but disagree on whether or not it is making human relationships grow apart. Social media is a double–edged sword; it brings people together that are physically apart by five hours, or even 30 minutes, but it also has negative effects on the quality of the relationships we have with these people. There seems to be several obstacles that want to get in the way of human relationships. Distance was the first– people travelling away from their homes to establish themselves in a new place. When at this new place, work came next. It effectively kept a person away from their immediate family all day long. Now, it is arguable that social media is what keeps us apart when we are finally together with family and friends. Distance and work keeps us apart in a physical sense, whereas social media is more on an emotional level. On the flip side, social media helps people to connect with family or make completely new friends that would have been otherwise impossible. These new communities can enhance a person's network and satisfy their social needs. The differing viewpoints have similarities, and can be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Of all of my friends, one exemplifies great character more than any of the others. His name is Chris. Chris stands a little over 6 feet tall with thick, dirty blonde hair.
