3. My targeted audience was primarily young people aged between 13-18. My magazine also has elements that are relevant for the older generation, both male and female. I have targeted this group because this is the main demographic audience for music today, more specifically, Pop and R&B.To be able to fully get across my intentions for a music magazine for this audience, I created a survey and did this using an online survey creator. I then pasted the link onto my blog and asked my class (16-17) to answer it. This helped me get the best possible ideas for my magazine, when in production.
4. What interests your reader? Through the survey I was also able to get an understanding of what interests they have and what they like doing in their spare time. Many of my friends stated that they enjoy going to concerts and festivals. So to attract my audience fully I included, as one of my features – “Concert dates revealed” – because I know they will be interested in booking tickets to go to them.
5. Appealing? You have to make sure your magazine is appealing to your targeted audience because otherwise they will not be interested in buying it. To make sure your magazine appeals, you have to consider design elements, colour schemes, photos and features. I looked into similar magazines and was able to get an understanding of how to make sure my magazine was appealing. Using these techniques has helped to earn that outcome. Magazines must be appealing!
