 Definition : Ribbon is attractive Woven narrow Fabrics,
characterized in the higher quality by fine warp yarns and high
Density and usually lustrous appearance.
 Features of the Ribbon fabrics :
1. It is an attractive narrow fabrics
2. High thread density
3. Lustrous appearance
4. Fine filaments are used
5. Mainly satin weave, twill weave , plain weave can
be used
6. The products have a fused edge
7. Cloth ribbons are made of natural materials such
as silk, velvet, cotton, and jute and of synthetic
materials
 Material used for Tape fabric Making :
1. Polyester
2. Nylon
3. Rayon etc.
 Classified By the textile Industry :
Ribbon is classified by the textile industry as a narrow fabric, and
it ranges from 1/8 in-I ft (0.32-30 cm) in width.

iii. Wire Edge Ribbons.
 Quality Control :
The machines used to process one type of ribbon, but perhaps
multiple varieties or colors of it, are arranged in a series and in a
layout so that one operator can monitor one ribbon loom
producing many ribbons in a series. Careful attention is paid to
the detail in the ribbon, and the operators control the quality of
the product as well as maintain the machines.
 End Uses :
i. Packing
ii. Decorative purpose
iii. Hair Tie up, garments trimmings etc.
