2. REPRESENTATION
 Definition:
 The description or portrayal of someone or something in a particular
way
In media, representation is important for understanding the type of
message brought across and the type of person it appeals to.

3. PRELIMINARY TASK
 The group I represented was students, as it was a student
magazine.
 I represented students as hard -working and conscientious by
having him revising.
 He was sat in the common room as this is a place where
students spend a majority of their time while at school.

4. PRELIMINARY TASK CONTINUED
 I also used photos from the school prom to show other events
for students.
 This represents them as having a fun side and opportunities
to relax outside of revision and the classroom.
 Prom is something students look forward to leading up to the
event.

5. MAIN TASK
 I chose to represent rock artists for my main, as this was the
genre my magazine focused on.
 They are represented as quite serious, as they hardly ever
smile in photos and their clothes/makeup are always dark.
 I found this in my codes and conventions.

6. MAIN TASK CONTINUED
 I dressed my model in monochrome to go with the dark
imagery.
 She isn’t smiling but isn’t deadly serious, just enough to
suggest she takes her music seriously.
 I used black and white to represent the ‘soul’ of the music.
 The interview language was more serious than it would be in a
pop magazine.
