3. THE STUDENT
I am Ruby Ann S. Aceron, a
third year student taking
up Bachelor in Secondary
Education (Major in
Mathematics) at Cavite
State University- Main
Campus.
6. EDTECH IN A NUT SHELL
Educational Technology 2 is concerned with
“Integrating Technology into Teaching and Learning”.
In essence, the course aims to infuse technology
in the student – teachers training, helping them to
meet and adapt to rapid and continuing technological
changes in thriving global ICT environment.
7. DEVELOPING BASIC DIGITAL SKILLS
As teachers adjust their teaching to effectively
match the new digital world of information and
communication technology (ICT), they must be clear on
what basic knowledge, skills and values (or literacies)
need to be developed by digital learners.
8. DEVELOPING BASIC DIGITAL SKILLS
Six Fluency Skills
Solution fluency
Collaboration fluency
Creativity fluency
Information fluency
Media fluency
Digital fluency
10. THE COMPUTER AS A TUTOR
The computer is a
tutor in this new age of
learning. It does not
replace the teacher,
although it assumes
certain roles previously
assigned to teachers who
now has to take the new
role of facilitator and
guide.
11. THE COMPUTER AS A TUTOR
Computers will become an integral component of
the future classroom and not a mere machine that can
deliver routine drills and exercises.
12. THE COMPUTER AS THE TEACHER’S TOOL
We shall again look at the computer, but this time
from another perspective the computer as teacher’s
tool.
Teacher can employ the computer as a/an:
An information tool
A communication tool
A constructive tool
As co- constructive tool
A situating tool
14. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY IN
SUPPORT OF STUDENT – CENTERED LEARNING
The Traditional Classroom
It may be observed that classrooms are usually
arranged with neat columns and rows of student chairs,
while the teacher stands in front of the classroom or sits
behind his/her desk.
15. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY IN
SUPPORT OF STUDENT – CENTERED LEARNING
The SCL Classroom
The students have now become active not passive
learners, who can interact with other learners,
demonstrating independence and self- awareness in the
learning process.
16. COOPERATIVE LEARNING
WITH THE COMPUTER
Cooperative or collaborative learning is learning by
small groups of students who work together in a common
learning task.
17. COOPERATIVE LEARNING
WITH THE COMPUTER
Five Elements of Cooperative Learning
a common goal
interdependence
interaction
individual accountability
social skills
18. HE SOFTWARE AS AN EDUCATIONAL RESOURC
There are two kinds of software:
The Systems Software
This is the operating
system that is found or
bundled inside all computer
machines.
19. HE SOFTWARE AS AN EDUCATIONAL RESOURC
The Application Software
This contains the
system that commands the
particular task or solves a
particular problem.
20. HE SOFTWARE AS AN EDUCATIONAL RESOURC
Instructional software can be visited on the
internet or can be bought from software shops or
dealers. The teacher through his school should decide on
the best computer- based instructional (CBI) materials
for the school resource collection.
21. LEARNING THROUGH EDTECH 2
I have learned that technology is not just
machines. It is a “planned, systematic method of working
to achieve planned outcomes – a process not a product.
It can also be of great use to professional
teachers, school administrators, teacher educators, and
in fact anyone who is interested on how Information
Technology can be used to improve not only instruction
but the school management program and curriculum.
22. LEARNING THROUGH EDTECH 2
I have learned also the difference between
traditional and modern classroom.
The Traditional Classroom
teacher- centered
more in lecture and discussion
the teacher assume all the works in the
implementation of lesson
the teacher do all the talking
where books are widely use
23. LEARNING THROUGH EDTECH 2
The Modern Classroom
student- centered
collaboration happens
the teacher serves as facilitator
students are active and expressive
demonstrating independence and self-
awareness in learning process.
24. LEARNING THROUGH EDTECH 2
In the years ahead, we shall use the computer in
schools as a common tool for the enhancement of the
students thinking, communication and collaboration skills.
Edtech is not just a course subject that you need
to pass. It is a subject that we can gain knowledge or
information that can help as a future educator. Through
this we can know to apply our available resources through
teaching.
25. THE STUDENT AFTER EDTECH 2
As future educator in the 21st century learners, I
will ensure that I will apply what I’ve learned in this
course through using an appropriate educational
technologies in my experiential, constructivist and
integrative teaching approaches that make my students
become alive and motivated to participate in classroom
discussion.
26. THE STUDENT AFTER EDTECH 2
And also I will ensure that my students are
actively engaged in the activity, analysis, abstraction
and application phases of the lesson. As well as, in
making them connected to real life situation.
