The True Believer Summary
1. The True Believer Summary
The True Believer: Thoughts on the Nature of Mass Movements, by Eric Hoffer is a book about
human nature. When Hoffer start his life as a young age he was blinded until later in his teen's year
before he could see. He did not attend high school, neither college, but read many books and got
inspired by reading from Montaigne to Hitler's Mein Kampf. As life goes on, Hoffer worked as a
longshoreman in San Francisco for over a decade and made living by writing books. "The True
Believer" which drives in the mind of why people do things by a holy cause or do things sometimes

If you are part of a mass movement, you are radicalized to do things against your wills. For
example, we saw that happened during the 9/11 when a man fly an airplane through the World Trade
Center because he believe in a holy cause and wanted to get rid of the unwanted selves. Up to now
we will never know what his intention was, did he do it because of Ali or was he force against his
wills? Furthermore, I agree with Hoffer that tension raises in a mass movement because of hatred
and power. "A movement can exist without a God but no movement can exist without a devil." The
Nazi and the communist kills many Jews because of hatred and is still happening around us every
day. Three years ago, right here in Boston we saw that hatred play in the mind of the Tsamaev
brothers to kills innocent's people because the big brother was motivated by some extremist Islamist
belief. However, one thing Hoffer did not mention in his book, is the sound of imminent that those
things are going to happens and people should be on the alert at all

3. Religion : Believers And Non Believers
Religion Impacts Believers and Non–Believers Religion is something most people around the world
have in common. Whether one holds religious beliefs or not, he can relate to others with similar
beliefs. A belief in a higher power has a big impact on society today just as it has in the past, as
illustrated in Shakespeare's Hamlet. Religion impacts all members of society, whether they believe
in one or not. For example, many people believe that purgatory is part of their afterlife. "[T]he
Catholic Church defines purgatory as a 'purification, so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter
the joy of heaven,' which is experienced by those 'who die in God's grace and friendship, but still
imperfectly purified'" (Brom). For Catholics, this place in between Heaven and Hell is where they
repent for their sins before moving on to Heaven. Because this middle ground exists, people
following this religion may not focus as much on repenting for their sins while they are living.
Instead, Catholics may wait to ask for forgiveness for all their wrongdoings. Moreover, they may
feel more free to take actions that negatively impact others because they think they have the luxury
of seeking forgiveness in the afterlife. In the play Hamlet, the Danish King was raised as a Catholic.
After he died, King Hamlet was stuck in purgatory, and he came back for revenge rather than for
forgiveness. He explains to his son, "I am thy father's spirit, / Doom'd for a certain term to walk the

5. Believer Creators
Without a question, people are always the most valuable assets of any organization. It takes a person
to create the idea for any business or non–profit enterprise and people to implement on that vision
and make it genuinely lifelike. All other resources have to be assigned to or managed by people. All
organizations begin as a thought in the mind of one or more individuals. That vision is shared with
others who may become employees. An employee will perform better or at his peak when he has a
positive perception of the work he is doing and his organization. When an organization believes in
its people, it does everything in its power to keep them happy and motivated. Believers are more
creative, committed, collegial and productive than unmotivated employees. A believer's passion for
the organization and its mission may inspire others who lack the same enthusiasm and drive. ...

A creator can be anyone from an innovative salesperson to a head of marketing. Creators think of
unique ways to brand and promote your organization, products and services, culture and people.
Organizations that recognize the value of creators always promote free and radical thought. Tim
Cook, Apple's CEO, says that his organization does not view creativity as a process, but as people
who keep thinking about an idea until they find the simplest and best way to execute it. Achievers
are the people within your organization that meet or exceed your expectations. Whether it's a VP of
Marketing delivering on a projection or a salesperson delivering on a sales target, achievers get the
job done right. These individuals take responsibility for their actions, focus on what works, are
strategic in outlook, committed and determined. Achievers tend to be both believers and creators.
Coming up with new ideas is commonplace for these employees, as is believing in the mission,

7. Who Is A Saved Believer In The Army
Some people are soldiers, but most people are civilians. Some people are saved, while most people
are lost. A civilian becomes a soldier when he is enlisted in the army. A person becomes enlisted in
God's army when he is saved by receiving Jesus as his Lord and Saviour. When we receive our
salvation, we also receive the burden to seek and save the lost, by leading others to Jesus Christ and
helping them to walk the paths of righteousness.
A person that is genuinely saved will no longer live for his own cause, but for the cause of Jesus
Christ. He will not live according to his own will, but according to the will of his Heavenly Father,
therefore a saved believer in Jesus Christ is also a soldier of Jesus Christ. There are only a few that
are saved, while there are many that are perishing.
They perish for the reason that those that are enlisted as soldiers in God's army are cowards and
instead of fighting the battle, they have turned cold and have lost their way. Sadly, Christians are not
aware of their battle, they have no clue on which side they are fighting, they have become allies with
the enemy, they have deserted their true calling, and are shooting at their own comrades–in–arms. ...

9. The Role Of Metropolitan Filaret 's Divine Context And...
The influence of Metropolitan Filaret's divine context and ambiguity are evident in the document. In
speaking to the unity of God and tsar, Metropolitan Filaret makes the connection very clear. He
wrote, "We thus became convinced that the problem of improving the condition of serfs was a
sacred inheritance bequeathed to Us by Our predecessors, a mission which, in the course of events,
Divine Providence has called upon Us to fulfill." The focus is that the time for emancipation is now,
whereas it had not been time before, and that the tsar is fulfilling the will of God. While there is
some discussion of the specific terms of emancipation such as the temporary obligation the peasants
still had to the lords and a vague hint of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to being able to read scripture themselves, peasants also could read church liturgy and
practices, which created questions and enabled peasants to see how insufficient their parish priest
was. Peasants began sending petitions and grievances to local and national church offices; they
wanted increased authority over their own parishes, something the Orthodox Church did not want to
give. The Russian Orthodox Church viewed this increased interest among the peasantry very
negatively. The Church "often interpreted peasant activism as a negative consequence of secular
enlightenment that ultimately would harm the Orthodox faith through the dilution of its traditional
hierarchical principles." Thus, the church became increasingly reactionary and isolated itself further
from the peasantry–interacting even less and trying to distance the peasantry from doctrine and
liturgy. The Church saw peasant interest as directly undermining their power instead of a
development of a more devoted populous. This led to the paradox of a weakening political and
culture power of the Church while simultaneously the peasantry became increasingly devoted to
"localized religious practice." The gap widened even further between the Church and the peasantry
due to the Church's fear and mistrust of the peasantry. As the Church distanced themselves from the
peasantry in relational and spiritual realms, it also tried to reassert its control over the peasantry,

11. The Is A Christian Believer
Arianne is a Christian believer who is going through her rebellious teenage years. She believes her
parents do not understand her. One night, after having an intense argument with her mother about an
unwise decision she was about to make, Arianne went to bed. While sleeping, she dreamed about her
taking the wrong path, which at the end led to her own death. Arianne woke up scared, agitated, and
confused. She wondered if her dream had a meaning. Was God trying to tell her something, or it was
just because she went to bed upset? In the past, there were natural dreams, which occurred only
because of physiological needs or emotional states, and there were God–influenced dreams, which
involved getting a message directly from God through dreams, ... Show more content on

One example he provided was when the dreamer experienced a traumatic event – such as a rape, an
attack, or an escape – it is probable that person will dream with something that will picture the
emotion felt in that moment. Overall, the main idea of Hartmann´s theory states that dreams occur
through a series of connections that are contextualized by emotion, and thus the dream's imagery
depends on what the person's emotions were that day before going to sleep.
On the other hand, there is not an exact or one percent proved explanation in scientific terms on why
or how dreams occur; however, many erudite have developed theories on why they might happen.
Many of them include an area of our brain that activates the dream imagery while sleeping. Allan
Hobson, Harvard Medical School professor, stated in his activation–synthesis model that as soon as
the dreamer enters REM sleep, which is the state where dreams are said to occur the most, a signal
of electrochemical pulse changes is sent out from the brainstem and activates the dreamer's visual
perception. After this signal is sent out, the forebrain responds by putting significant effort in
creating a gibberish story in the dreamer's mind. Next, the limbic system, which is located in the
forebrain and is the one in charge of a person's emotional life, gets highly activated as well. This is
probably why dreams are said to be guided by emotions – just as Hartmann believed. In addition to
that, when the dreamer goes to bed,

13. Non-Believer: A Conceptual Analysis
The word "conform" means to approve of or agree to certain behaviors or beliefs. God's word is
telling us right here to disapprove of the ways of world. People who aren't Christians live for
themselves only. Of course, we're all naturally sinful because of the fall, but the ways of the world
reflect a lifestyle of ungodliness. In the worldview of the non–believer, it's all about me, myself and
I. The world sends the message that you don't need God and that you can be your own God. This
need to be your own highest power comes out in many ways. Whether it's uplifting material
possessions, giving into the pressure to take drugs, use alcohol and have premarital sex, the common

Some people listen to songs because they like the how the song sounds to them, and completely
ignore the lyrics, while others listen to the lyrics of the song, rather than simply hearing the catchy
beat. In "Oh Ms Believer" by Twenty One Pilots, someone is trying to help his or her loved one
through the complications of depression. There are many different hidden meanings in the lyrics of
the song "Oh Ms Believer", such as in the lyrics "Oh, Miss Believer, my pretty sleeper/Your twisted
mind is like snow on the road" (1–2). The song opens with a simile that means her thoughts cover up
who she truly is, or that her thoughts could be dangerous, perhaps life threatening, because when
snow covers a road it becomes hidden, slippery, and dangerous to drive on. Another part of the
song's lyrics "Your shaking shoulders prove that it's colder/Inside your head than the winter of dead"
(3–4), show that the subject in the song is probably crying because her shoulders are shaking, and
also that her thoughts are depressing and likely dangerous. The entire song relies heavily on the idea
of cold, such as winter and snow, for in the lyrics of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Prometheus begins with Two archaeologists, the skeptic 'Holloway' and the believer 'Shaw'. These
two are seen to be excavating on the Isle of Skye, Scotland. In a cave they discover paleolithic art
illustrating a star map an ancient alien civilization. It's clear from Shaw and Holloway 's reactions
that this mysterious painting is what the archaeologists were searching for. Once the painting is
identified they do an in depth pattern–recognition search of images from other sites and discover
global evidence of paleocontact. Soon Shaw and Holloway are sent on a "undisclosed" mission with
a group of explorers. After flying at light speed to a planet trillions of miles away from Earth the
group of explorers discover a spot they believe to be signs of civilization. After a brief moment of
investigating they find conclusive evidence. Nevertheless, many of these explorers have ulterior
motive for being there, one mainly being the Weyland Corporation. The Weyland corporation
believes that this sight is where the human race actually came from. Discovery soon turns to a fight
for there life once they are discovered. Prometheus although it was filled with many thrilling scenes

19. The Justification Of Believers By The Sacrifice Of Christ
For this report, I have been challenged to interview my pastor on the subject of his views of the
justification of believers by the sacrifice of Christ; after my investigation, I am content to announce
that his frame of mind didn't blow me away all. With Christian I have ever known, the justification
of believers by the sacrifice of Christ has been dependable and steadfast; so once I posed the inquiry
to my pastor, the first thing we discussed that he wanted to make sure I understood was that all have
sinned, and there is no one who is righteous. "From the womb, we were born sinners, and enemies
of God" is how Pastor Thompson started the banter; this seemed to echo the same sentiments that
the Apostle Paul used in Romans chapter 3 verse 23 when he declares "For all have sinned, and
come short of the glory of God". That is the initial deliberation I believe all must come to grips with
as far as salvation is concerned. One person has to know that they are blameworthy before you can
become conscious of their need to be justified, or affirmed righteous. Moving along in the interview,
Pastor Thompson praised God for being such a wonderful creator and God. He elucidated that while
yet we were sinners and enemies of our own creator, God loved us so much that He gave his own
creations a possibility to be made righteous with Him according to His mercy and grace. "If there is

21. Bible Believers Case Summary
A federal appeals court ruled that the police officers in Dearborn, Michigan violated the First
Amendment rights of a Christian group by forcing them to leave an Arab–American festival in 2012
when a crowd began throwing objects at them.
In 2012, members of "Bible Believers"–– a group of Christian street preachers–– were kicked out of
an Arab–American festival in Dearborn, Michigan. When the Muslim crowd became violent, the
preachers contacted the police to protect them. Instead, the police told the preachers to leave the
festival or be arrested.
Members of the Bible Believers filed suit, but the lawsuit was dismissed in 2013 and was upheld by
a three–judge federal appeals panel in 2014.
By a narrow 8–7 vote, the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals decided on Wednesday that Wayne
County and two deputy police chiefs were liable to members of the group for violating their
constitutional rights, reversing the earlier decisions.

23. Who Is Agnes In The True Believer
Secondly, the character Agnes in the play is a symbolic image for the fanatic of a mass movement,
who chooses to do everything for the success of the party. For instance, Agnes spends hours of her
time creating the skit for the Communist Party to gain more support in the fight against the Nazis for
the Parliamentary Election (Kushner 20). This shows the true dedication of Agnes for her party by
continuously working in support of the party and refusing to take a rest. In other words, Agnes's
desire for change drives her into fighting the Communist Party's success without hesitation.
Moreover, because of her yearning for a better change and a better life, she pushes aside all her
friends' pessimistic about the obvious loss of the Communist Party in the future. ... Show more

Likewise, the same idea is also illustrated in The True Believer when Hoffer describes the
relationship between the fanatic and man of words: "He shoves aside the frightened men of words, if
they are still around, though he continues to extol their doctrines and mouth their slogans" (111).
This indicates that the fanatic is one who supports the development of the mass movement without
fear of how the future might look like for he or she only believes in the original purpose of the party.
However, instead of just creating Agnes as a fanatic who fights for her party with an unshaken
passion for change, Kushner creates her as a more realistic person. In fact, Kushner lets Agnes
experience fear of losing her loved ones as her friends and her party's members start to leave her and
Berlin one by one. For example, Agnes expresses her loneliness in her speech with Malek in saying,

29. Conflict Between Believer And The Unbeliever
Among many scholars, there is a general agreement concerning every scientific investigation, which
should proceed in full consciousness from a specific starting point that in theology is the ontological
Trinity. Kuyper acknowledges that around the epistemological investigation of the phenomena, there
is a particular area of common territory without methodological dispute between the believer and the
unbeliever. Thus, according to Kuyper's view, there are three territories in which both the believers
and unbelievers' interpretation of fact can interact: all natural (lower) sciences, the lower spiritual
sciences and logic. For these areas, says Kuyper, "As a result all scientific research that deals with
the ὁρατά only, or is carried on only by those subjective elements, which did not undergo a change,
remains common to both. At the beginning of the road the tree of science is common to all."
However, while Van Til agrees with the validity of this distinction, he also argues that this
compromises the starting–point of the ontological Trinity and leads Kuyper's interpretation into the
Scholastic and Kantian 's direction, because within the distinction of these respective territories, he
allows a common area of investigation of the various phenomena.
On the one hand, Kuyper represents the "lower" territories of epistemological investigation such as
the physical sciences, namely the lower spiritual sciences and logic. The two different groups of

No document signed by the president, or even God for that matter, will change the minds of many of
those how deem it fitting to look down amongst a race. No matter how much is taught in our history
classes, it is never enough, because as Toni Morrison demonstrated in the book, there are many
viewpoints and sides of our historical past that are ignored and not told to the mass for everyone to
be able to understand and learn from such mistakes that are made then. Does that mean that there is
no hope? I would not jump to such drastic conclusions, but I am a firm believer after taking this
class that as long as certain individuals have the power to control what the media reports and what
not to report, what are written in our history books for schools, and what literary works are allowed
to be published and be out in stores for the mass to read, history will continue to repeat itself. That is
not only here in America, but in many other countries how do not have the democratic freedom that
America presents to its population. For example, Bassem Youssef, better known to many people as
the "Jon Stewart of Egypt," brought lots of laughter through his "biting" political satire to many of
his fans not only in Egypt, but those following him around the world. A man, who was a former

The book I read is called True Believer by Nicholas Sparks. I think the author wrote this book
because he wanted to create another love story for people to read. When I read this book, you could

Nicholas Sparks writes romantic novels that people fall in love with. I chose this book because I am

readers with a good love story where miracles take place. The book takes place in Boone Creek,
North Carolina which is not a real city, but a city Nicholas Sparks made up. He pictured it to be in
Pamlico County down on the coast where it would become a good retirement city.
My overall impression of the book was that it was a very good book. It had a mystery but yet was a
love story with things you never think would happen. I really liked everything about the book,
especially the sequence of events because it kept me on my toes. The author did a very good job of

than I thought it would. Intro to Women's Studies expanded my knowledge on women's issues and

believe we all have a choice on what we want to focus on and how to overcome our life struggles. I
disagree with Chief Seattle's words because we as humans are valuable, have things to be grateful
for, and blessed. There are a few people in this society we live in that believe their lives are more
valuable then others because they are of upper class. I refuse to believe wealth entitles anyone's life
to mean more then middle to low class individual. This state of mind reminds me of a movie called,

45. The True Believer Eric Hoffer Summary
Main Thesis:
Eric Hoffer wrote ?The True Believer: Thoughts on the Nature of Mass Movements? in early 1950
when he offered insight about the current cultural phenomenon surrounding public movements. In
his book, Hoffer discusses about the appeal of mass movements, the potential converts, united action
and self–sacrifice, and finally the beginning and end of mass movements. This discussion draws
upon examples from religious, social, and nationalistic movements.
The author organizes the books into four sections, which presents a convincing argument for
understanding mass movements. Hoffer is often called the longshoreman philosopher because he
was self–educated and worked as a longshoreman. This would give him a great deal of food for
thought. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, he does not intend to focus on classical works that focus on Western movements without
much consideration of cross–cultural examples. That does not mean Hoffer fails from this oversight,
but his arguments simply does support enough his global.
Critique:
With unique assessments and the continued citations to contemporary academics and experts in the
social sciences, the author provides some validation to even after sixty years. In fact, the author
cited relevant works in a post 9/11 environment that searches for answers regarding terrorist
movements like Arquilla, Psychology, Sowell and Madigan (Hoffer, 1951, p. ). His book ?touches?
on many aspects of political, social, academy and psychology, these scientists should read the book
because it sheds light on good and bad, begin, gain momentum and move towards a state of activity.
Although, his book is a shortcoming, its thesis lacks quantitative evidence, limits much of his focus
to Western movements, and to movements that fit a particular mold, which are the ones that focus on
the future being better versus ones that try to return to a former state (Translating Eric Hoffer).
However, that should not exclude the valid insights that Hoffer provides, it merely showcases the
limitation of his work, but it still remains relevant

47. Comparing The Song Believer And In Raymond's Run
Never Give In You are the first person to run across the finish line, how would you feel? A fictional
character in a short story named Squeaky is a person who has done this every single time she races
somebody.. She is a very determined young girl who strives to become the best runner no matter
what other people tell her to do or think of her. Her mother has always wanted her to wear a satin
sash... (blah blah blah) But Squeaky as a girl will never gives in on stereotypes. Even if it is her own
mother. Squeaky is the protagonist of a short story called "Raymond's Run" written by Toni Cade
Bambara. She lives in Harlem in the 1960s, and thinks that winning is everything; yet she thinks that
she is being prevented from the best runner she can be just by her mentally disabled brother. The
song "Believer" and "Raymond's Run" share the same theme of not being able to be stereotyped. In
the song believer and in Raymond's Run there are many themes and character traits that they both
share. Such as, how Squeaky does not let herself be stereotyped, how she is open about opinions,
serious about running, and last but not least how she does not other people tell her what she has to
be/ what she is. They share the same theme by generalizing the idea that the main character of the
story do not get stereotyped and will always be the master of everything they do. ... Show more

49. The Orthodox View Of Orthodox Church
Orthodox is a religion that is talked less among strong Christian believers. Many of the population
don't even know that it exists, youth, and old adults are more likely to discuss the religion
Catholicism. Directly following the social protocol, many think that orthodox is a religion that died
out long time ago and few never learns the history behind of its being in this world. Unlike the other
denominations, Orthodox churches have followed strict rules and scriptures that have been passed
down from generations. Many of my friends may say, "Orthodox is not a true religion. Stop wasting
your time!" As a member of the Orthodox faith for eighteen years, I can only replay and say, "You
have no idea what you are talking about." In this DCA paper, I will write to show that I am part of
the Orthodox church, logically explain why Orthodox altar boys is so strong, and illustrate how this
type of commitment affects your emotional life to prove that I belong in the Orthodox discourse
community.
I have always admired my faith, since birth I have been grown to believe Orthodox scriptures and to
follow the undying faith. I nearly never understood what certain motions of a priest during a service
or what some of the readings meant in my years as a child. The recognition of church faith began
when I was 12 years old, as a member of the St. Mary's, now called St. Mary's Valliyapally, in

51. Mass Movement In Eric Kushner's A Bright Room Called Day
Nowadays, mass movement is defined as an assimilation process, where people throw away their
own personal identities and follow submissively the orders of their leaders. The idea of people being
obedient to some of the cruelest orders, such as killing millions of people in the Holocaust, surprises
many people. Thus, many authors decide to find out the answer by bringing up many opinions about
the creation of the mass movement in their own books or plays for discussion. One of those authors
is Eric Hoffer, who suggests that a mass movement is created by the cooperation between "the man
of words", "the fanatic", and "the man of actions" (147). In fact, he points out that the three groups
have the same craving for something new and different that they believe can only be obtained
through a revolution. At the same time, Tony Kushner also offers his own belief on the topic through
his play "A Bright Room Called Day" by establishing a setting in Berlin, where people follow their
own party in a fight against the development of a Nazi government. Moreover, many characters in
the play perform somewhat similar roles to the three groups' duties described by Hoffer. In fact, the
characteristics of Baz as an outsider and a man of words, Agnes as a fanatic who joins the party out
of boredom, and Zillah as a person of action who refuses to accept the Reagan government will be
discussed in this essay to identify the similarities and differences between the viewpoints of two

53. Believer In Dreaming Big Analysis
A wise man once told me, "If you can believe it, you can achieve it." I am a firm believer in
dreaming big. If Martin Luther King Jr. was being 'realistic' at the time of his existence, segregation
would have more than likely still be a normality in society. Big dreaming promotes creativity,
intellectual growth in society and emphasizes hard work. Big dreamers are impeccably creative and
express individualistic ideals. The United States was founded on new ideas and creativity. In a fairly
young country I believe there is still room for improvement and creativity is the answer to
improvement. Being realistic promotes a socialist society therefore killing democracy. When
everyone begins to think the same socialist systems are already being

55. How Do Believers Examine Themselves
B. Believers are to examine themselves (3–5)
Verse 3 – "For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself."
1. Believers should not to think highly of themselves (v3)
a) "For" the "ei" conjunction shows the state of mind that is necessary when a believer seeks to bear
a burden of the sinning brother in verses 1 and 2. If a man thinks of himself to be something"
(morally above reproach) when he is nothing (he also susceptible to sin at times), he deceives
himself." The Galatians, being Jews, have the notion that they are better than others and this notion
making them look to the law instead of grace (compare with 1 Cor. 3:6–8). In Philippians 2:3–4b–4,
Paul writes with the same idea – "In lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.

Believers should examine themselves (v4)
Verse 4 – "But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone,
and not in another."
a) "Prove" (dokimazó: examine) – literally "to approve something after testing it." Instead of
deceiving themselves, they must take a careful and a sober examination of their lives ("his own
work" refer to one own "load" of sin – Matt. 7:3–5) before God and before extending help to a
sinning brother. While Paul asserts the important responsibility of believers to restore a sinning
brother, this work should be done with much precaution.
b) "Then shall he have rejoicing in himself, and not in another" – if a believer rejoices or boasts after
his good works, the boasting should be only in the Lord (2 Cor. 12:12–18). In this case, if a believer
had thoroughly examined his own load, then he will rejoice in himself because his moral strength is
measured up to God's standard, not comparing with the sinning brother (2 Cor. 10:12–13). If his
work is of God, it will prove itself.

57. Who Is A True Believer?
CAN I RELATE? Charles Lemert explains modernity through several perspectives of classical or
established sociologist. Sigmund Freud understanding of Oedipus tells us that humans only see what
they want while masking the reality of the world. He believes this is the reason for the feelings of
many bourgeois Europeans during the 19th century of modernity. Karl Marx insinuated that
modernity was the destruction of tradition, and that humankind was expected to tolerate the
contradictory lives that modernity created. Lemert exposes many classical writers' concepts that
describe both sides of modernity: story of progress and story of destruction. As I have been
awakening, eyesight still not truly focused, I believe that modernity has individuals blinded to its
underlying truth. I am also a true believer in conspiracies therefore I've come to a place where I
question reasons and actions. My life in relation to Lemert story of modernity can be described as in
between. I was raised in government housing with my mother, who was an alcoholic and drug
addict. My father was a recovering addict, whom also lived off assistant living through a private
funded program. We had little money and I had to rely mostly on hand me downs. Even though my
mother battled her own demons, she took good care of me. I went to a predominately white
elementary. I participated in all their activities. I played the flute, with the help of my principle. I did
ballet for a few years and I did African dance.

59. Believer Poem Analysis
Believer The song "Believer", by Imagine Dragons, they sing about how the pain and depression,
they were going through, has made him stronger than before. This song tells us that your greatest
strengths come from your weaknesses. Imagine Dragons are trying too say that "Pain" and
depression and sadness are only stepping stones to your strength, in this song. "Believer" is about
that you don't have to dwell on your troubles and can look on the bright side of things. This song
also explains that you can become a "Believer" by embracing all of the problems going on in your
life today. The theme of relationships in this song is highlighted through many various examples of
similes, metaphors, and other literary devices throughout the song. This theme is brought through
the song by showing multiple literary devices. Such as "I'm the one at sail, I'm the master of my
sea". This metaphor shows the realization and empowerment that oneself can give in a depressing
situation. This simile "Falling like ashes to the ground, Hoping my feelings they would drown"
compares his feeling of sadness and depression to ashes, and wanting them to drown and vanish,
from his life. This line, "All the hate that you've heard has turned your spirit to a dove" explains how
all of the hate that he has experienced and gone through has turned his feelings around, and decided
to look on the bright side of things. Personally I think this is a great ... Show more content on

61. Sin : The Spiritual Walk Of A Believer
Unconfessed sin can be very dangerous to the spiritual walk of a believer. Sin is when we do
something that displeases God. We are all guilty of sin, and deserve to spend eternity separated
completely from Him. He has promised to forgive us of our sins, but only if we take initiative and
confess them to Him. Although Jesus died on the cross to pay our debt in full, there are still
consequences when we sin against a holy and righteous God, and we don't ask for repentance. We
must acknowledge that unconfessed sin in the life of a believer will damage our ministry, take away
our joy in Christ, and ultimately make us feel separated from God. When we are living in sin, we
will eventually stop seeing results in our ministry. Our relationship with God becomes broken, and
we no longer have a strong desire to read and study His word. When we are not pursuing a constant
relationship with Christ, then we are unable to understand what His plan is for our lives. Our
understanding of His word becomes vague, so we can't clearly communicate it to others who are
trying to grow spiritually. We begin to have the wrong motive behind ministry. It becomes
something we do because it's a good thing, not because we desire to share Christ. We don't have the
heart to serve anymore. This is especially true when those in leadership of a church are harboring a
secret sin. The church starts to slide down a slippery slope, and no one seems to know why.
Eventually, the sin of that individual will come

63. The Impact Of Art On The Life Of The Believer
Throughout history, art has been an essential component of almost every civilization, both for its
own sake and for the reflection it provides of changing social attitudes and political climates. Yet
while art does serve an important role in secular society, how should it influence, and perhaps even
change, the lives of believers? Does God value art? If so, how does He expect us to interact with
both secular and religious works of art? This essay will address these and other questions by
analyzing the definition of art, discussing the role of art in the life of the believer, and considering
how to properly evaluate artwork. We will close our discussion with a reflection on the importance
of encouraging artistic expression and appreciation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
3). This latter definition is more comprehensive than the former because it explains that art requires
skill and is a medium through which an artist conveys a message. Yet even this description is not
completely accurate. First, artists occasionally create 'ugly' artwork to express inner turmoil or to
convey harsh truths about society. Second, not all imaginative designs can be considered great art.
Although creating a mural for a home, for example, certainly requires imagination and skill, the
mural might not qualify as a work of art according to the judgement of art historians. Perhaps a
better way to 'define' art would be to utilize a multifaceted approach, such as that suggested by
Jeffrey T. Dean. Dean proposes that in order to determine whether a certain work can truly be
considered art, it should be compared to "radial categories" of artwork (31) in the context of the
"historical narrative" of art (29). In other words, the item in question must have some relation,
whether direct or indirect, to a recognized work of art, and the connection between the two pieces (if
one exists) will likely correlate to known developments in art history (31 – 33). Based on these
definitions, what types of creative works would not be considered art? According to Maria Khan,
"Art is derived from our external and internal experiences. Art is a projection of what you
experience, how you view the world and what you want to

65. The Believer, By And Criticism Of Jews
Throughout history the Jewish people have undertaken a great deal of enslavement. They were first
enslaved by the Egyptians than later enslaved by the Germans. Their enslavement has defined their
identity. One can dispute the Jews would not be in existence if they were not enslaved. From the
article, The Sacrifice of Daniel, on the Believer, author Josh Kun disputes, "there is no Jewish
identity if the Jew is loved." (Kun p. 369). The Jewish identity is rooted in a passive identity with a
need to be detested by superior identities. This shows the Jewish sexual identity has a lack of
masculinity. From Henry Bean's film The Believer, the protagonist, Danny Balint, a Jewish neo–

Qualities associated with a man comprise of exhibiting courage, independence and assertiveness. In
The Believer, there was a scene where Danny is beating on the Jewish boy, he had a lack of courage,
independence, and assertiveness, qualities he could have utilized to defend himself from Danny.
This is what solidified the belief that, "the Jew only knows who the Jew is when the Jew is hated."
(Kun p. 369). Danny wanted the Jewish boy to hit him back to defend the Jewish boy in Danny, to
attest Jews are capable of fighting back. The Jewish community also showed their lack of
masculinity in reaction to the film. In Josh Kun's article, Kun restates what The Los Angles Times,
Entertainment Weekly reported, "Rabbi Cooper made it clear to Paramount that the centre would not
publicly support the film because of its content." (Kun p. 370). By having the rabbi publicly state
the Jewish community will not support the film illustrates that the community is incapable of being
critical of themselves. The Rabbi represents the Father of the Jews. The obedience to the rabbi
represents the obedience to God. The Jewish community must obey their rabbi. There are Jew's in
the community that have concerns of their religious community, such as Kun who states, "I am
listening to the film's protagonist, Daniel Balint, an Orthodox Jew turned Nazi skinhead rant about
Jews, and I am agreeing with him." (Kun p. 369). Rabbi Cooper's unacceptance of the film, The

67. New Believer Research Paper
In today's society, there is an impending question amongst many Christians. Should Christians read
the bible every day? I believe it is necessary to read the bible most of the time. Although, when it
comes down to the how often you read, this is based on a person's overall walk with God. Whether
the person is a new believer, a weak believer, or strong believer the amount they read the bible is
based upon this.
As a new believer, I believe it is a must that a person reads the bible as close to every day as
possible. I remember when my parents first came to Christ, they would read the bible. Not just
because they wanted to, but they were hungry for the word and wanted to dive head first into it. This
is not bad at all don't get me wrong. With them being new believers, they are going to try to soak up
the Word like someone sipping out of a straw. They want to read this life changing book that
Christians talk about so much. Compare it to this, a little boy walks into a candy store and buys
some candy. The Mom says that he can eat it right away, so the kid rips the wrapper off as quickly as
he can and shoves the candy in his mouth. That is kind of how a new believer is with the bible. They
shove their whole face into the bible to taste its sweet joy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

If a person is truly strong in christ then they could get by with reading the Bible two or three times a
week. So what is a strong believer? To me, a strong believer is someone who has the Word in their
life and uses the Word to help with everyday things. The Word of God is so strong in them that they
can quote whatever scripture they need to help them or help others in a time of need. These people
would be like the candy store worker. Their job in the "store" is to help that kid that is super shy or

73. A Balanced Believers Reform Movement
Balanced Believers Reform The time and need for reform has never been greater than it is right now.
The way in which the world is moving is causing divisions among the people of the Islamic faith.
Now is the time to look to the Qur'an and the hadith. We must achieve the right balance of
maintaining our acts toward God, while modernizing and changing with the times, in order to better
benefit society and people as a whole. This is why our reform movement urges all Muslims to join
this cause and become a Balanced Believer, accepting and living the Qur'anic principles and
teachings while living in a modern technologically and scientifically advanced society. If all
Muslims, Shia or Sunni, become united under this belief the Islamic world will be better off in the
21st century. We, as Muslims, must first address the issue at hand, can and should Muslims be able
to modernize in the 21st century and still be Muslim? This is something that many Muslims stumble
over and it causes divisions within the Islamic faith. We must understand that they are mutually
exclusive entities because you can have one without the other. Modernization is merely accepting
the new technological and scientific advances without accepting the ideologies of the West.
Muhammad Abduh, Hassan al–Banna, and Sayyid Qutb all believed that to modernize was not
necessarily to westernize. To westernize is to begin to change our beliefs and ideologies to align

75. The Martyrdom Of The Christian Believers
During the first three centuries after the martyrdom of Jesus, many of the Christian believers have
suffered persecution to a great extent. Back in the days, these persecutions were meant to torment
and prevent the spread of the faith but instead, it only gave rise to the wider spread of Christianity.
Martyrdom strengthened Christianity through showing their people they willingly die for their
belief.
One of the events that greatly influenced Christianity would be the martyrdom of apostle Peter in 64
CE. After the great fire in Rome, during the emperor Nero's reign, Peter tried to flee from the city to
escape from being persecuted and so to continue his missionary journey in another time. But as he
was about to step out of the city, Jesus showed himself to Peter who questioned him why he was
coming back to the city and is it to be persecuted again. Entering the city of Rome, Jesus said to him
yes, he was willing to be persecuted once again [Myth of Persecution. p.134–135]. Herewith, he
came to an awareness that he had to defy his fears and accept his imminent death. The moment he
went back into the city; he was held captive by Roman soldiers and was condemned to die due to the
charges made by King Agrippa II. Instead of being in misery, he returned to Rome "rejoicing and
praising the Lord" [Myth of Persecution. p.134–135]. This would mean that he had witnessed the
truth that Jesus Christ truly is the son of God. He was one of the first to show many of the believers
