I Am Serving As An Instructor
Reading these initial chapters in our textbook comes at an interesting time for me, as I am currently serving as an instructor for the first time!
Speaking from personal experience, I agree with the authors' in that simple skills are a crucial first step in getting off on the right foot. I believe it
would be difficult to recover with students (as well as your own self–esteem) starting out ill prepared. I really wish that I could have taken this course
prior to serving as an instructor, or at the very least attended some kind of training to prepare me. Of great importance, as Svinicki and McKeachie
point out, is having a firm grasp on university etiquette to avoid taboo subjects and relate to students appropriately. Although common sense should
prevail, training in this area may help mitigate issues that may arise with a lack of understanding on the part of the instructor. I appreciate the timeline
that chapter two offers in relation to preparing to teach three months in advance, and can see myself referring back to this in the future. This section
highlights the importance of avoiding procrastination in planning, and provides detailed instructions on how to stay on task. I did find the discussion
of course goals and objectives interesting because I had assumed they would be set by the university or department. Regardless, the authors make clear
the importance of goals and objectives; however from my experience there doesn't seem to be much emphasis placed on these in the

Efficacy Of Telemedicine Essay
In 2010 a study was completed in the state of California in order to evaluate the efficacy of telemedicine to reduce barriers to healthcare in rural
populations (Ritter, L., Robinette, T., & Cofano, J., 2010). The assessment was made in 33 counties throughout California and was accomplished
through patient satisfaction survey. The ultimate result of the survey was that telemedicine can improve access to care for people inrural settings, along
with those who live in situations that make it difficult to access care.
Ritter, Robinette, & Cofano (2010), refer to the California Telehealth and eHealth Center's definition for telemedicine. This definition is: "the use of

(2008), has shown that CCTM is a viable approach to chronic disease management. They included a large volume of patients over a number of
years and proved that the program is viable in all kinds of demographic settings from urban, to super rural. This particular review further agrees
with other studies relating to customer satisfaction using telemedicine. This seems universal across studies. The area where this particular
evaluation differs from the others is the proof that it does reduce consumption of care, and reduces cost of care. This review validates this in a
significant manner. The VHA appears to have developed a solid program model for delivering CCTM to its customer base, and the customer base
seems to like it. This case report supports the capstone project question by validating the efficacy of case management via telemedicine. As
illustrated by the patient enrolled in the CP program there is a desire to participate in her care. However, she is physically unable to do so because
of a lack of transportation. CCTM would enable this patient to manage her chronic diseases while being engaged with her primary care team so that
her experience of care would improve, while simultaneously reducing her per capita cost of care as she would no longer have to rely on emergency
services to provide her

Heart Failure : A Debilitating Syndrome That Has Driven Up...
Heart failure is a debilitating syndrome that has driven up health care costs (O'Donovan, 2014). Therefore, making heart failure one of the most
expensive chronic diseases. Heart failure is one of the most prevalent chronic diseases in the U.S. It is the only cardiovascular disorder that is
increasing in both incidence and prevalence (Park, Wortmann, & Edmondson, 2011). The current treatment for heart failure is known to improve
survival, but the quality of life may be compromised. Routine implementation of clinical guidelines may lead to a standardization of care, which could
affect the patient–centered care that is needed in today's healthcare (Sanders, Harrison, & Checkland, 2010). It is imperative that each patient's care

Self–care and personalizing care has been widely promoted within heart failure management programs to improve patient outcomes and reduce hospital
admissions (Barber, Currie, & Gardiner, 2011). The problem and purpose of this research is to test the effectiveness of educating both patients and
providers regarding the effectiveness of self–care and personalizing care in the management of heart failure patients in an urban area in Florida.
Does self–care and personalizing care education decrease hospital readmission of chronic heart failure patients? Self–care is a dynamic process in
which patients actively manage their chronic illness (Schulman–Green et al., 2012). Self–care is defined as the decisions and strategies undertaken by
the individual in order to maintain life, healthy functioning, and well–being (Barber, Currie, & Gardiner, 2011, p. 489). Personalizing patient's care
improves outcomes. Literature reveals that there is a need to re–examine the appropriateness of traditional caring in the context of evidence about
healthcare interventions, and there is a need to reflect on the need to incorporate patient's own values into the care plan (Sanders et al., 2010).
It is hypothesis and null hypothesis that self–care and personalized care education will improve patient outcomes and reduce hospital admissions.

Computer Based Instruction As An Adult Learner
Computer–based instruction, or CBI, is widely used to deliver content to learners of all ages. Although this form of instructional delivery has become
nearly ubiquitous, levels of effectiveness of CBI vary, particularly when considering computer–based instruction for adults. In 2005, researchers Janis
Lowe and Elwood Holton, III developed a theory regarding the elements necessary for an effective CBI experience with adult learners and then drew
five conclusions based on their investigation. Lowe and Holton (2005) acknowledged a need for both external support and instructional support if an
adult learner's CBI experience will be deemed positive. Of their five conclusions, this one was of particular interest to me based on the different
computer–based instruction experiences I have had. My first experience with a course conducted completely using computer–based instruction as an
adult learner occurred during the fall semester of 2007. I was nearing the completion of my first Master's degree and enrolled in ED500A, which was
an educational research class. Although I had extensive experience utilizing technology and the Internet, and had dabbled in CBI, this course was
conducted entirely online and proved to be challenging for me. The challenges were not due to the content, but were based on the limited connectivity
with other course participants and the instructor. I quickly adapted to the format of the course expectations and developed a schedule in order to meet

Social Work Course Reflection
The writer will actively engage in this course through creating knowledge and new concepts by adding personal experiences and interpretations into
all aspects of this course. The writer has gained knowledge both academically as well as personal hands on at this point of the program. Sharing these
experiences can help everyone in the program learn and grow by discussing them. This will be done through group discussions and weekly postings.
Each course builds upon the next at this point and having taken numerous courses with a common denominator, that of serving the Hispanic
community. The knowledge that was learned from each course and the frameworks learned from each one will be integrated into this course along
with the new frameworks being taught. The writer can also take this new knowledge and reflect on past experiences to determine if this could have
been a better fit. The writer will read all course material and then analyze the material, they will then try to compare and contrast it to their current
beliefs and experience in the field. The social work program is designed to give students both the academic knowledge combined with the real world
hands on experience, it is then their job to combine the two and use it in a practical setting. Current understandingThe ecological perspective is used as

Research Techniques Throughout The Course Of My Work
Research Techniques:
I will no doubt be employing many research techniques throughout the course of my work, however the three that I will describe in detail are:
interviews, participant observation, and site mapping. Some of the additional methods include: household information survey, literature review,
government policy analysis, and public discourse analysis.
To begin, I will likely start with participant observation. I will be visiting and volunteering at multiple different non–profit organizations and
community events. This will allow me to engage with affected populations and learn about their reality, as well as meet people that would like to talk to
me. Participant observation could mean many different things depending on the situation. In one instance it might mean delivering food hampers with
Winnipeg Harvest to families that have requested them, in another it might mean preparing a meal at Siloam Mission. The broad range of programs
offered in the private sector (for free) means that participation in the form of volunteering could take numerous forms. Participant observation could
also mean visiting the sites of extreme poverty in Winnipeg, in publicly funded housing, homeless populations, and shelters. Getting a sense of the
difficulties of living with food insecurity would likely mean taking trips to local food sites, whether they be grocery stores, food banks, and free meal
kitchens, and learning about prices, wait times, travel time/costs, and other factors

Ethnographic research: oral interview
4–5 pages double spaced
An ethnography is a long term investigation of a group (often a culture) that is based on immersion in and, optimally, participation in that group.
Ethnography provides a detailed exploration of group activity and may include the collection of historical information and in–person interviews of
members of the group. It is an approach which employs multiple methodologies to arrive at a theoretically comprehensive understanding of a group or
culture. Ethnography attempts to explain the web of interdependence of group behaviors and interactions.

Hard Work Course Analysis
Looking back on this entire course, I've learned how to recognize the true value of hard work, and the importance of being the best that you can be
instead of always comparing yourself to someone else. To be completely honest, I was quite nervous about grade 9 physical education and did not
know what to expect. I have history of being last–pick for a team and was the slowest at Track and Field. I really did not like exercise, in fact, I found it
really boring to run in circles for extended periods of time, but also did not like being known as the worst athlete in the class either. Therefore, ever

Even though my goals for school were specific, measurable, attainable, and relevant, I needed more time to enhance my aerobic fitness enough to

I did not reach my goal for the 20m shuttle run. I would like to note that I was extremely close to achieving it, and I had been given slightly more
time. Again, I will infer that I simply needed a maximum of one or two more weeks to reach my aerobic fitness goals. As for performing 50 push ups
in one minute, we were not consistent with the style of push ups done between the testings (we varied between the method where you bend your arms

having to switch to the more intensive and time–consuming push up method, instead of doing the push up style I had been

My Course Of Social Work Program Essay
I feel that I would be an excellent addition to your Masters of Social Work program due to my education and experience within the field of Social
Work. As you may have noticed, I will have obtained my Bachelors in Psychology degree by May of 2017. While I know that there are many
differences between the two field's I feel that my background in psychology will be an asset and only add to my education within the master's
program at Washburn. While I was in the psychology program, I had the chance to learn about how various mental health issues impact the
community, and how psychologists and social workers can work together to help those struggling with mental health issues and with the family
members who are caregivers. In addition to my psychology courses I will have taken almost all the courses needed to satisfy my certification in the
addictions counseling program by my May graduation date. While my education is, important I feel that experience and putting the skills learned in
the classroom to use are important as well. As far as experience is considered I have a lot and it began as early as eight years old. My mother, Linda,

"Explain the role of Wells Fargo in the financial system. Assess its exposure and performance from 2009–2016, after the global financial crisis,

The bank
Wells Fargo is an American international banking and financial services holding company which was founded in 1852 by Henry Wells and William
G. Fargo in New York. As of the end of 2015, the total assets ofWells Fargo are more than $1.7 trillion, ranking 3rd all over the U.S. And in 2013,
Wells Fargo surpassed ICBC and became the world's largest bank by market capitalization for the first time, then exchanged the top bank place with
ICBC for four times in the next years.
Wells Fargo today is a result of merger between San Francisco–based Wells Fargo & Company and Minneapolis–based Norwest Corporation in 1998
and the subsequent 2008 acquisition of Charlotte–based Wachovia. Now, it has become the only U.S. bank to have the highest possible credit rating
from both Moody 's Investors Service, "Aaa", and Standard & Poor 's Ratings Services, "AAA". And also, it was one of the minority of the companies

A Long-Standing Issue Within The Community Of Nursing Is
A long–standing issue within the community of nursing is an inconsistency of care related to patients who present multiple times to the emergency
department. The journal article, Patient experience in the emergency department: inconsistencies in the ethic and duty of care, explores the issue of
multiple presentations to the emergency department, the ethics and duty of care they receive, and how it directly affects the patient's ongoing
management of health needs. The article addresses a study where 34 people with a chronic illness who have multiple presentations to the emergency
department are interviewed regarding the appropriateness or inappropriateness of care they received during these visits. From these interviews four

When this client–centered approach is used, it promotes patient confidence in medical personnel and ensures that when the patient leaves the
Emergency department (ED) they have a firm understanding of their follow up care and plan. This makes the patient more likely to be compliant with
follow up care, and self–management of their chronic issues. (Cheryle Moss, 2014)
We should all be striving to provide this holistic approach that leaves the patient not only treated competently and completely, but also leaves them
feeling as though they understand what has been done, and what needs to be done to improve their health and well–being. This will not only lead to
better outcomes, but less waste because the patient will be more involved and informed of their healthcare needs and decisions.
The next category of experience that the article identifies is: 'consistent duty of care'. This level of care describes a caregiver who is competent and
efficient, but does not base the care on a "patient–centered" model. The article identified a higher percentage of care scenarios that matched this
description at 37%. Many of these patients were acutely ill patients that required immediate stabilization and efficient treatment. Some of the patients
fitting this category may have had an altered level of consciousness during treatment as well, but they recall the efficacy of their care and are
appreciative. The patients that typically receive this type of care have trust that

Social Work Course Analysis
Before the start of this course, I heard the words micro, mezzo, and macro, but did not have full comprehension of their meanings. Throughout the
progression of this semester, through this course and others, these concepts have come into full view. As social workers, not only do we work one on
one with clients, their families, and in group settings, but we must also advocate for, and support social change. Social work is the profession that must
work towards the elimination and promotion of abstract and controversial social issues oppressing the populations of people we work with. I have

Clients are not always open and willing to participate in community programs and services. There are many situations where clients seek assistance on
their own volition, but there are also times when social workers enter situations due to no choice of the client. Through this challenge, it is the social
worker's job to actively participate in engaging clients. It is natural for resistance to be met and turned around through empathy, trust, guidance, and
relationship building. Many other challenges may be encountered depending on what aspect of social work one chooses to work in. Social workers
who work for child protective services face the many struggles of working with families and children under negative circumstances. On many levels,
social workers are met with the struggles of working with trauma and abuse. It is always extremely important for professionals in the human service

My Final Grades From The Past Two Semesters
What you see before you are my final grades from the past two semesters. While I know you 're concerned with the letters and numbers, rest assure
that these are about as insightful as an Instagram photo. My first semester of freshman year, for the most part, went by without much of a hiccup.
I was able to coast by with the same mindset towards learning I carried in high school, and I finished with a 3.30 GPA. Afterward, my second
semester was what lead me to buckle down. I realized that I would need to dedicate my time outside of the classroom to studying and
comprehending the material. My classes were going to become harder, each assignment more crucial, and my time more valuable. Thus, about
midway through the semester, I was building better habits with studying and learning in general. Keep in mind that at this point; I was still
adapting to the routine of a college curriculum. Even though I adopted a serious attitude towards each of my classes, there was still something
working against my favor. Looking back now, I realize that I had been enrolled in more credit hours than, perhaps, what I could handle. The increase
was only one extra credit hour (16 to 17) which came from a chemistry lab that I needed to take as a science. But, considering that I went from taking
all 100 level classes to 200 level classes, including a 300 level class, the extra credit hour was enough to stretch my workload. Plus, we had a lab
report due almost every week, which is more than what you

Goals For College Freshman Essay
James Mason Wood said, "Education today, more than ever before, must see clearly the dual objectives: education for living and education for
making a living." When people go to school because they have to, then it is only education for living. When people try hard and get a good
education, then they get good jobs to make a living. West Texas A&M University, home of the Buffaloes, will provide me with new skills to learn
about the medical field and can assist me to become an anesthesiologist. Before being able to apply for WTAMU, there is some requirements college
freshmen need to have and they also have to go through admissions. Before being able to register, incoming students need to have certain amounts of
credits from their high school. They need to have four English credits, four for math, four for science, three and a half for social science, half a credit
for economics, one for physical education, one for speech, and six credits of electives (WTAMU). College freshmen also need to have their
meningitis shot up to date before they are allowed into a classroom. They also need to submit their high school transcripts. To be able to get accepted
to WTAMU, students need to obtain 2.0 GPA. They also need to have certain ACT andSATscores. If the student is in the top 25% of the class, they
have no minimum ACT or SAT score. If they are in the 26% to 50% they need to have an ACT score of 18 or an 860 to 940 on the SAT. If the student

I Failed Two Accounting Courses
SMO411 Term Paper
Jenny Kim
11–12–2016
Introduction
Last year, I failed two accounting courses which were 400 levels. I tried to retake one of the courses because my dad was pressuring me so hard
that I should be able to understand much better but I still could not understand the concepts and I found it really hard to catch up with the class. Since
this class was a prerequisite class for my major, I was very frustrated. I was getting so much stress from my dad and the course that I had to retake.
However, several days before I had to take a midterm, I was overwhelmed and I was not ready to take an exam. I decided to withdraw from a course
because there was no way that I could handle 400 level accounting courses. Since I failed two accounting courses before, I got an academic
probation due to low grades. My dad thought that I was still retaking one of the accounting courses. When I told him that I withdrew from a course,
he was very mad because I did not discuss this issue with him. I did not know why I had to discuss with him while I was very stressed out. It was a
tough decision for me to withdraw from a course. I had to discuss with him about changing my major since I was in my last year. Preparation Stage
The purpose of this stage is to help me use the information to prepare what can be my options if the negotiation goes well or does not go well. Also,
preparation stage also helps me to guess what the other party's options can be and try to negotiate much better.

Next Level Education
Marie and Howard Dahn obvious know the value of next education. The very reason why they ask this is to see if the person writing the essay
knows that reason or has their own. I believe I have come up the many reasons for why I value a next level of education. I believe one of the many
reasons is knowledge, the creation of new bonds, and in general to experience new things. These are the some of the reasons why I believe next level
education is important. Like I previously said, Knowledge is a big reason why the next level of education is really important. Knowledge of course

your degree then that would be ignoring the other benefits. Which are knowledge, the creation of new bonds, and experiencing new things. In a next
level of education you will meet some people who will teach you new things and vice versa. You might find someone really inspiring that will be a sort
of encouragement to continue to succeed. Of course the end goal is to have a more educated community and experts in many fields to create more

Social Work Ethics Course Analysis
Coming into IPE 415, I personally thought I would not learn much. I thought my previous classes had taught me all I needed to know about working
with different professions, as well as how to handle ethical issues. My classes did teach me about these things, however they did not teach me it all.
This course's main goal was to have every student understand their roles on an interprofessional team, as well as develop an understanding of the other
members' roles and ethical principles. This course deepened my knowledge in many areas, but my personal three main areas were: the importance of
team building, the importance of education, and the importance of cultural competence.
Starting with the importance of team building, I came into this class knowing a team of social workers is helpful, but never thought too much about
other professions. That being said, this class taught me that there are many members and career paths that I would be working with in any job I am
occupied in, which is not always easy. This can be seen in the article, "Interprofessional team building". This shows how to work fittingly together, such

By this, I mean learning about each other's code of ethics and perspectives. Through the "Ricky case", our class discussed our various ethical
standpoints. This surprised me because I did not realize that our code of ethics contrasted in the ways they did. We also looked at an article on the
Tavistock group that spoke about the different ethical codes and sought to bring them to a "shared code" (Berwick, Hiatt, & Smith, 1999.) An
example of how to use education in my career would be to ask different professions how they may handle an ethical dilemma or what their ethical code
states. On top of that, as a professional, I can educate myself through my workers and the client when I may not understand why they think a decision
should be made a certain

Quality and safety are directly tied to the purpose of the goal. Many of the tools and application of principals that have been assimilated in the alarm
management project have been part of the curriculum at WU MSN program course work. Strategies utilizing lean principals, critical thinking, data
analysis, PDCA cycles are a few of the means used to advance this project. Fundamental to the role as a patient safety leader is the use of advanced
safety, quality, and nursing theory that backs nursing practice regarding prevention of patient harm. Patient safety findings were brought to the
attention of the clinical alarm teams and the applications of the quality and safety principles were part of the litmus test for any actions steps.
Essential IV
Consequently, building onto the quality and safety principles, is the use of EBP, strongly present in the platform for every WU nursing course. The
WU program focuses on use of evidence in the literature and the assessment of the evidence. These principles are demonstrated throughout the project
with prominent use of AACN (2013) evidence based practical guidance kit. Consumption of science based information to impart practices for alarm
management was apparent in teams' participation in the literature reviews and the webinars attended. Discussions and making project decisions were
based on the strength of evidence and was a direct result of the course work from the MSN and DNP prepared participants.

Human Rights Law Course Work
Human Rights Law Course Work
1.0 Introduction
The European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms (hereinafter referred to as 'the Convention') stands as the
world's most successful legal instrument and foundation for international legal process in the protection of Human Rights. Drafted two months after the
founding of the Council of Europe, in the aftermath of the atrocities of World War II, it was fundamental to the future and stability of the region to
introduce Human Rights in a document able to bring peace, unity and accountability. This was articulated at the conference of the International
Committee of the Movements for European Unity where the delegates stated: We desire a Charter of Human Rights guaranteeing liberty of thought,
assembly and expression as well as the right to form political opposition; we desire a Court of Justice with adequate sanctions for the implementation of
this charter.
The subject of this paper is on Article 3 of the Convention, a 'cardinal axiom' of International Human Rights Law, in the sense that it provides the
absolute and non–derogable right, which states 'no one shall be subject to torture or inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment'. The prohibition of
torture goes far beyond just written international law and has also been manifested as jus cogens and acknowledged as a fundamental peremptory norm
of general international law. The absolute nature of this right is however not an express

Online Classes vs. Traditional Classroom Learning
Online Classes vs. Traditional Classroom Learning
When deciding to take college courses there are many choices you have to make. One of the more important choices is where you plan to take your
classes. Online classes are becoming increasingly popular because they can be easier to fit into a busy schedule, but some people still argue that
nothing beats a traditional classroom setting. Having the option of online classes makes continuing an education more appealing to people that have to
balance many other responsibilities like family, jobs, etc. Online classes and the traditional classroom setting both offer many of the same advantages.
They both provide the student with the same course content so there is no loss of curriculum between the two. Both demand the same time investment
for learning, studying, taking exams, completing papers, and so on. Although it seems easy to think that with doing all of your school work online
there isn't any personal interaction with professors and peers, however, that is a common misconception. Online classes, like traditional ones, require

The Project Is Fine Tuning Work Done From Previous Course...
Introduction: The introduction section is designed to provide background on the research problem. Further, it provides insight for the reader as to why
this problem is significant, and what the researcher's perspectives are on the problem (Maryville University, 2012). It is in this section that the research
question is clearly presented for the audience. The timeframe to complete the introduction for the capstone project has initially been outlined as seven
days. The purpose for such a short duration is secondary to previous course work that has helped to narrow the topic to a reasonable research question.
Further refinement may be necessary, but the question should be very close to final. Essentially all that will be left in the ... Show more content on

Also, the review should capture what is known about the topic. Literature review helps the reader to connect the dots between what is known, and
how this project can lead to new knowledge in the area of study. There are numerous ways for a literature review to be completed. For example,
chronologically, topically, or by articles that agree and disagree with the topic. Layout of the literature review is up to the author. Again, a decent
start for literature review is underway. The articles that are under review from previous course work will more than likely need to be refined as
more skill is developed in the art of literature review, but the work is started. The completed reviews also bring refinement in further research as new
knowledge is developed with each article reviewed. Not to mention the articles that are reviewed and rejected. Even though they are ultimately
rejected, there is always knowledge gained by their evaluation. There are 15 more articles to be researched and analyzed for their inclusion in the
capstone project. As mentioned earlier these articles will help to shed light on the identified problem, and begin to lead the way for how knowledge
gained in these evidence–based studies can help pave the way for new knowledge required to complete the capstone project. 21 days have been allotted
to this aspect of the project. It takes considerable time to find quality studies, analyze, and synthesize the content, and then summarize this

The Assassin Bug
The comparison between me or any other creature of the animal kingdom in reference to me as a student would have to be like that of the
reduviidae otherwise referred to as the "assassin bug". It 's consistent thirst for a meal is but a mere reflection of my thirst for knowledge. The
means of attack as to which it deploys are quick as well as painless which falls into the nature as to how I accomplish my goals. If by chance a student
falls behind or needs aid I will also help them just as assassin bugs sometimes hunt in a form of group or pack for their prey. For as many means the
reduviidae has become an effective in it 's means to survive; I have had to adjust my means of furthering my education.
Though out the years, even as a leader in the U.S. Army, I always perceived myself as a student never ceasing to learn something new; no different
from the assassin bug who craves blood often feeding on any source to gain a fresh supply. Currently with over 1,000 college credit hours. From
Fort Gordon, Georgia I studied in the MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) 35N. Received OJT (On the Job Training) Enabling me to become
proficient in the MOS 35F. Lastly, transferring the combined credit to the MOS 94F. Beyond my military education I still craved more; so does the
reduviidea feeding on multiple insects as well as even sleeping mammals. Certified gunsmith, and archery mechanic, AFT ( American Firearms
Training) certified, followed by studied in the field of computer

Analysis Of The Article 'Basic Writing Through The Back Door'
In her article, "Basic Writing Through the Back Door: Community–Engaged Courses in the Rush–to– Credit Age," Oregon State University professor
Cori Brewster reflects on her experiences working with high school and college students in an accelerated summer writing course for college credit.
Brewster's reflection is pragmatic and demonstrates the strengths and the weaknesses of the program. She also shares her hopes for the future of similar
programs and some suggestions for the improvement of future of dual–enrollment, early–college, and other similar programs that are a part of the
"rush–to–credit" trend in secondary and postsecondary education. These features of Brewster's writing show Brewster's careful consideration of her
students and of the trend toward underpreparedness that these expedited programs can cause for students when the focus is on hurried matriculation or
the "numbers" instead of students' actual needs. With a goal of providing better access to composition instruction for Oregon's rural students in a
limited time under restricting conditions, Brewster manages to create a service learning project that is meaningful for the students and the community.
The obstacles they encountered serve to give other teachers in similar programs and other teachers of transitional students with the necessary insights
to help make developmental and basic writing programs better.
The article was published by the Basic Writing e–Journal's special issue focusing on "Basic

I Am Serving As An Instructor

  • 1. I Am Serving As An Instructor Reading these initial chapters in our textbook comes at an interesting time for me, as I am currently serving as an instructor for the first time! Speaking from personal experience, I agree with the authors' in that simple skills are a crucial first step in getting off on the right foot. I believe it would be difficult to recover with students (as well as your own self–esteem) starting out ill prepared. I really wish that I could have taken this course prior to serving as an instructor, or at the very least attended some kind of training to prepare me. Of great importance, as Svinicki and McKeachie point out, is having a firm grasp on university etiquette to avoid taboo subjects and relate to students appropriately. Although common sense should prevail, training in this area may help mitigate issues that may arise with a lack of understanding on the part of the instructor. I appreciate the timeline that chapter two offers in relation to preparing to teach three months in advance, and can see myself referring back to this in the future. This section highlights the importance of avoiding procrastination in planning, and provides detailed instructions on how to stay on task. I did find the discussion of course goals and objectives interesting because I had assumed they would be set by the university or department. Regardless, the authors make clear the importance of goals and objectives; however from my experience there doesn't seem to be much emphasis placed on these in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Efficacy Of Telemedicine Essay In 2010 a study was completed in the state of California in order to evaluate the efficacy of telemedicine to reduce barriers to healthcare in rural populations (Ritter, L., Robinette, T., & Cofano, J., 2010). The assessment was made in 33 counties throughout California and was accomplished through patient satisfaction survey. The ultimate result of the survey was that telemedicine can improve access to care for people inrural settings, along with those who live in situations that make it difficult to access care. Ritter, Robinette, & Cofano (2010), refer to the California Telehealth and eHealth Center's definition for telemedicine. This definition is: "the use of telecommunications and information technologies for the provision of healthcare ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (2008), has shown that CCTM is a viable approach to chronic disease management. They included a large volume of patients over a number of years and proved that the program is viable in all kinds of demographic settings from urban, to super rural. This particular review further agrees with other studies relating to customer satisfaction using telemedicine. This seems universal across studies. The area where this particular evaluation differs from the others is the proof that it does reduce consumption of care, and reduces cost of care. This review validates this in a significant manner. The VHA appears to have developed a solid program model for delivering CCTM to its customer base, and the customer base seems to like it. This case report supports the capstone project question by validating the efficacy of case management via telemedicine. As illustrated by the patient enrolled in the CP program there is a desire to participate in her care. However, she is physically unable to do so because of a lack of transportation. CCTM would enable this patient to manage her chronic diseases while being engaged with her primary care team so that her experience of care would improve, while simultaneously reducing her per capita cost of care as she would no longer have to rely on emergency services to provide her ... Therefore, making heart failure one of the most expensive chronic diseases. Heart failure is one of the most prevalent chronic diseases in the U.S. It is the only cardiovascular disorder that is increasing in both incidence and prevalence (Park, Wortmann, & Edmondson, 2011). The current treatment for heart failure is known to improve survival, but the quality of life may be compromised. Self–care and personalizing care has been widely promoted within heart failure management programs to improve patient outcomes and reduce hospital admissions (Barber, Currie, & Gardiner, 2011). The problem and purpose of this research is to test the effectiveness of educating both patients and providers regarding the effectiveness of self–care and personalizing care in the management of heart failure patients in an urban area in Florida. Does self–care and personalizing care education decrease hospital readmission of chronic heart failure patients? Self–care is a dynamic process in which patients actively manage their chronic illness (Schulman–Green et al., 2012). Self–care is defined as the decisions and strategies undertaken by the individual in order to maintain life, healthy functioning, and well–being (Barber, Currie, & Gardiner, 2011, p. 489). Personalizing patient's care improves outcomes. Literature reveals that there is a need to re–examine the appropriateness of traditional caring in the context of evidence about healthcare interventions, and there is a need to reflect on the need to incorporate patient's own values into the care plan (Sanders et al., 2010). It is hypothesis and null hypothesis that self–care and personalized care education will improve patient outcomes and reduce hospital admissions. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Computer Based Instruction As An Adult Learner Computer–based instruction, or CBI, is widely used to deliver content to learners of all ages. Although this form of instructional delivery has become nearly ubiquitous, levels of effectiveness of CBI vary, particularly when considering computer–based instruction for adults. In 2005, researchers Janis Lowe and Elwood Holton, III developed a theory regarding the elements necessary for an effective CBI experience with adult learners and then drew five conclusions based on their investigation. Lowe and Holton (2005) acknowledged a need for both external support and instructional support if an adult learner's CBI experience will be deemed positive. Of their five conclusions, this one was of particular interest to me based on the different computer–based instruction experiences I have had. My first experience with a course conducted completely using computer–based instruction as an adult learner occurred during the fall semester of 2007. I was nearing the completion of my first Master's degree and enrolled in ED500A, which was an educational research class. Although I had extensive experience utilizing technology and the Internet, and had dabbled in CBI, this course was conducted entirely online and proved to be challenging for me. The challenges were not due to the content, but were based on the limited connectivity with other course participants and the instructor. I quickly adapted to the format of the course expectations and developed a schedule in order to meet ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Research Techniques Throughout The Course Of My Work Research Techniques: I will no doubt be employing many research techniques throughout the course of my work, however the three that I will describe in detail are: interviews, participant observation, and site mapping. Some of the additional methods include: household information survey, literature review, government policy analysis, and public discourse analysis. To begin, I will likely start with participant observation. I will be visiting and volunteering at multiple different non–profit organizations and community events. This will allow me to engage with affected populations and learn about their reality, as well as meet people that would like to talk to me. Participant observation could mean many different things depending on the situation. In one instance it might mean delivering food hampers with Winnipeg Harvest to families that have requested them, in another it might mean preparing a meal at Siloam Mission. The broad range of programs offered in the private sector (for free) means that participation in the form of volunteering could take numerous forms. Participant observation could also mean visiting the sites of extreme poverty in Winnipeg, in publicly funded housing, homeless populations, and shelters. Getting a sense of the difficulties of living with food insecurity would likely mean taking trips to local food sites, whether they be grocery stores, food banks, and free meal kitchens, and learning about prices, wait times, travel time/costs, and other factors ... I would like to note that I was extremely close to achieving it, and I had been given slightly more time. Again, I will infer that I simply needed a maximum of one or two more weeks to reach my aerobic fitness goals. • 29. Social Work Ethics Course Analysis Coming into IPE 415, I personally thought I would not learn much. I thought my previous classes had taught me all I needed to know about working with different professions, as well as how to handle ethical issues. My classes did teach me about these things, however they did not teach me it all. This course's main goal was to have every student understand their roles on an interprofessional team, as well as develop an understanding of the other members' roles and ethical principles. This course deepened my knowledge in many areas, but my personal three main areas were: the importance of team building, the importance of education, and the importance of cultural competence. Starting with the importance of team building, I came into this class knowing a team of social workers is helpful, but never thought too much about other professions. That being said, this class taught me that there are many members and career paths that I would be working with in any job I am occupied in, which is not always easy. This can be seen in the article, "Interprofessional team building". This shows how to work fittingly together, such as: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By this, I mean learning about each other's code of ethics and perspectives. Through the "Ricky case", our class discussed our various ethical standpoints. This surprised me because I did not realize that our code of ethics contrasted in the ways they did. We also looked at an article on the Tavistock group that spoke about the different ethical codes and sought to bring them to a "shared code" (Berwick, Hiatt, & Smith, 1999.) An example of how to use education in my career would be to ask different professions how they may handle an ethical dilemma or what their ethical code states. On top of that, as a professional, I can educate myself through my workers and the client when I may not understand why they think a decision should be made a certain ... Human Rights Law Course Work Human Rights Law Course Work 1.0 Introduction The European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms (hereinafter referred to as 'the Convention') stands as the world's most successful legal instrument and foundation for international legal process in the protection of Human Rights. Drafted two months after the founding of the Council of Europe, in the aftermath of the atrocities of World War II, it was fundamental to the future and stability of the region to introduce Human Rights in a document able to bring peace, unity and accountability. This was articulated at the conference of the International Committee of the Movements for European Unity where the delegates stated: We desire a Charter of Human Rights guaranteeing liberty of thought, assembly and expression as well as the right to form political opposition; we desire a Court of Justice with adequate sanctions for the implementation of this charter. The subject of this paper is on Article 3 of the Convention, a 'cardinal axiom' of International Human Rights Law, in the sense that it provides the absolute and non–derogable right, which states 'no one shall be subject to torture or inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment'. The prohibition of torture goes far beyond just written international law and has also been manifested as jus cogens and acknowledged as a fundamental peremptory norm of general international law. • 48. Online Classes vs. Traditional Classroom Learning Online Classes vs. Traditional Classroom Learning When deciding to take college courses there are many choices you have to make. One of the more important choices is where you plan to take your classes. Online classes are becoming increasingly popular because they can be easier to fit into a busy schedule, but some people still argue that nothing beats a traditional classroom setting. Having the option of online classes makes continuing an education more appealing to people that have to balance many other responsibilities like family, jobs, etc. Online classes and the traditional classroom setting both offer many of the same advantages. They both provide the student with the same course content so there is no loss of curriculum between the two. Both demand the same time investment for learning, studying, taking exams, completing papers, and so on. Although it seems easy to think that with doing all of your school work online there isn't any personal interaction with professors and peers, however, that is a common misconception. Online classes, like traditional ones, require a degree of contact with your peers and professors. It may not be as personal interaction as raising your hand and being called on, but you can e–mail your professor at any time and there are discussion boards and forums available for fellow students to communicate and help each other out. One of the most significant differences between taking online classes and having the traditional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Layout of the literature review is up to the author. Again, a decent start for literature review is underway. The articles that are under review from previous course work will more than likely need to be refined as more skill is developed in the art of literature review, but the work is started. Brewster's reflection is pragmatic and demonstrates the strengths and the weaknesses of the program. She also shares her hopes for the future of similar programs and some suggestions for the improvement of future of dual–enrollment, early–college, and other similar programs that are a part of the "rush–to–credit" trend in secondary and postsecondary education.
