Thesis On Talking Head System
Seminar topic falls under the area of computer graphics. Graphics is mainly used here for the easy
communication between computer and user. Seminar topic focuses on talking head system.Talking
head system is a technique in which an animated talking head generates lifelike face which is based
on speech recognition. Talking head system converts this speech to an animated talking head having
facial expressions and mouth movements. The seminar focuses on an approach that synthesizes ones'
face using a two and half D head model, with the facial expression driven by speech.Such system

Business Goals Through Effective Community Management
The company agrees to the fact that it is important for the company to cater for business goals
through effective community management (Da Silveira, 2013) .The positioning of Sainsbury is
comparatively plain and it helps the users to quickly scroll through the main menu. The scale of
Sainsbury in the realm of operating in retail business is compact; hence this is reflected in the
website layout as well. However, position of Sainsbury is not cost effective, since it doesn't offer
interesting discounts.
It has been seen that both the companies try to foster loyalty programs that helps to widen brand
loyalty and builds brand equity by leaps and bounds. The loyalty card feature of Sainsbury takes
into account the intangible profitable feature that is invested in corporate social responsibility, rather
than monetarily and extrinsically benefitting customers directly. The layout in the website is user
friendly and is easy to interpret. Hence, this is how value creation and proposition is identified
(Balmer, 2012). Sainsbury involves itself in customer's lives rather than conventionally providing
services. In this case, the provider's sphere is the extra Sainsbury funds invested for customer's
sphere (independent value– quality and price wise). Hence, a joint spherical value realm is created
as Sainsbury's through loyalty charity programs created as Sainsbury's through loyalty charity
programs (Gronroos & Voima, 2012).

Reaction of Letting a Indigent into the Hospital
To begin this discussion of this unfortunate incident obviously there was a lack of communication
by all parties involved. An incident such as this one should never have occurred to begin with, but
since the person is an indigent perhaps this is why this oversight occurred. Using the classic
decision model the first thing that we have to do as stated is identify the problem. As stated by South
University, "determine what additional information you need and where you will get it to clearly
define the problem." (South University, 2013, Decision–Making Model). The problem is the
hospital allowed an indigent in the hospital for dialysis which the hospital does not allow. The
hospital managers and administrators need to understand how this problem occurred, why it
occurred, and speak to the people involved who allowed this person into the hospital for this
procedure. The second part of the classic decision model is determining who the stakeholders are
involved in the situation. We need to determine how to handle this situation and who to speak to
about it. As stated by South University, "When you decide who should participate, you will also
decide how they participate. You will want to speak with some people individually, especially those
persons who contribute technical or other knowledge relating to the subject matter and who is a
specialist in the situation," (South University, 2013). At this point it is best to speak to a manager
and head of the Emergency

QuickBooks software can be easily learned by the beginners. The people involved in creating this
software can be contacted anytime in order to learn to operate the software.
Every time a new or unacquainted user starts using the QuickBooks, it is likely that he/she will
encounter an error. These errors are displayed with a specific code. These error codes display the
message that gives an idea to the user of what it is about. One such QuickBooks error code is 6177.
It conveys that the company file will not be accessed anywhere except where it is located as the path
is unknown to the computer. This error usually occurs when the file is set to multi–user mode.
The developers have carefully studied the error and found the common cause of the same. It is
explained below:
1. Unknown path
Every time a company file is accessed, a connection is made between the path of the file with the
source or from where it is originated. On failing to recognize the path of company file,

1.1 Consumer Behavior
The term consumer behavior is defined as the behavior that consumers display in searching for
purchasing, using, evaluating & disposing of products & services that they expect will satisfy their
needs. Consumer behavior focuses on how individuals make decisions to spend their available
resources (time, money, effort) on consumption related items. That includes what they buy, why
they buy it, when they buy it, where they buy it, how often they buy it, how often they use it, how
they evaluate it after the purchase and impact of such evaluation on future purchases & disposal.

ABSTRACT
Technological advancements such as Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) and the Internet have
made it easier and affordable to share information, which enables complex and time sensitive
decisions to be made with higher confidence. Further, advancements in information technology have
dramatically increased the ability to store, manage, integrate, and correlate larger amounts of data to
improve operational efficiency. The studies have shows that crime is on the rise and that the police
are handicapped in managing it because of the obsolete methods and resources at their disposal.
Therefore, crime maps are becoming significant tools in crime and justice. Advances in the areas of
information technology and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) have opened new opportunities
for the use of digital mapping in crime control and prevention programs. Crime maps are also
valuable for the study of the ecology and the locational aspects of crime. Maps enable areas of
unusually high or low concentration of crime to be visually identified. Maps are however only
pictorial representations of the results of more or less complex spatial data analyses. Therefore, the
study therefore seeks to

Decision Based Modeling : Case Study
Decision Based Modeling The purpose of this paper is to review a business case presented by a
laboratory services company and make recommendations on how best to incorporate required
changes and the impact it will have on current and future operations. Prior to making any
recommendation, a review of the company's existing business operations is required. This
assessment will afford the decision maker various tools in which informed decisions can be made.
More times than not, multiple options are available and can prove successful, even dealing with
situations that require complex decisions. There are several decision based modeling schemes out
there, but for this paper three models were compared against the business case to determine which
afforded the greatest supportability. Graham Allison published The Essence of Decision in 1971;
Allison suggested that there are three perspectives that one might use to analyze a major decision:
(1) the rational model, (2) the organizational process model, and (3) the governmental politics
model which will be referred to as the collaborative model (Nahavandi,A., Denhardt, R., Denhardt,
J., & Aristigueta, M., 2015). These models will be discussed in detail and compared against the
business case presented by the laboratory services company. Also, there are several techniques and
skills that can be incorporated into these models to increase the chance of success. This paper will
compare some of the options available to management

With 3D modeling, I first think about how I am bringing to life something. It is like creating dreams

detail makes the models become more realistic. I do not like when I am creating something and the
model or tool I am using is coming out the way or doing what I want it to do, and trying to figure
out how to fix what it is doing. This month I honestly struggled with almost anything in creating in

This would have made creating my UV maps easier in the end. I would have learned how to use my

locations When I started placing my objects I would change the way I defined space to show more

3D modeling uses these concepts from linear perspective to create the 3D image and provide
structure to the composition. When arranging elements in the 3d environment we provide a
perspective for the viewer to see the image we have created in our mind come to life.
I have learned a lot in 3D modeling, from top proportions, keeping geometry simple when blocking

The Effects Of Conflict On A Decision Making
The objective of this essay will demonstration to what extent is conflict detrimental to a decision
making. March and Simon (1958,p 112) "consider conflict as a breakdown in the standard
mechanisms of decision making, so that an individual or group experience difficulty in selecting an
alternative." (Rahim, 2011, p. 15). Decision–making "is the process of making choices by
identifying a decision, gathering information, and assessing alternative resolutions." (Decision–
making process – UMass Dartmouth, 2016). Furthermore, the author will provide detailed
information to what extend conflict can be harmful or useful for decision making, followed by the
conclusion. Conflict is normal, and we cannot avoid it. Conflicts create an atmosphere ... Show

Conflict can produce positive results, including a greater capacity to make well–informed decisions.
Viewing conflict as an opportunity to strengthen decision–making skills and implement constructive
changes to office procedures and policies will result in better outcomes and improved department
operations Conflict does not always come from bad decisions, but it can also arise from
disagreements over a wrong decision. De Clercq, Thongpapanl, and Dimov, 2008). Academy of
Marketing Science report shows that companies who works toward goals and growth often
encourage conflict to make the best decision. A conflict also brings the best out of employees as it
allows them to be free and individuals bring their own unique ideas and experience. (Stravato and
12, 2014, p. 18). Also, it gives the individual team member the ability to act independently.
Nevertheless, in order, this to work team members must maintain the strong relationship that allows
them to work together effectively. This link with destructive conflict because destructive conflict
tends to create inequality and unevenness of power. Often employees feel they are judged
negatively, which leads them to lose focus and confidence. Also, employees experience frustration
during the conflict as their voice doesn't have value towards decision making therefore, they tend to
avoid communication with co–workers which might create additional

The Potter Box : An Analytical Tool That Evaluates Ethics...
Navigating the Potter Box Created by Harvard University professor and theologian Ralph B. Potter,
we will discuss in this paper how and why to apply the Potter Box, which is an analytical tool that
assesses ethics of decision making and dilemmas. By using the Potter Box, we are guided towards a
decision after considering a number of elements and steps very carefully. To be more specific, we
will be understanding the four interrelated steps for making an ethical decision. As you complete
each quadrant it is important to remember that two point of views need to be exposed so you can
have a clear picture of the situation presented and the alternatives to making the final decision. Let's
dive into the Potter Box. Quadrant 1 To start the first quadrant of the Potter Box you must be able to
define the situation you are in, or just describe all the facts you know. To do that, begin by gathering
all available information that affects the situation from the beginning until what it looks like at the
moment of the decision. By listing the facts that you see yourself in, you can better understand it.
Here all facts are necessary, it is important not to make any judgments or hide any of the facts. This
is called empirical definition, where you will be defining the situation objectively. The steps to start
the empirical definition are just responding to basic questions that will describe your situation: who
is involved, what is going on, why this is happening, where it is occurring, and

Of course, when we think we have found the man for our dreams, we tend to do everything that can
to keep him. However, one should remember that the dates (especially the first one) is not just about
developing his views or opinions about you. It 's about knowing the basics of each other and
deciding whether you both want to give this relationship the green signal or call for the red flag.
Therefore, even if you 're already falling head over heels for him, don 't forget to wear your "woman
's hat" during the first date, so you can make a good decision. Here are 5 dating rules for women
heading into their date:
Dating Rule #1 Confidence Is Key
Why is it that the bubbly and confident girl next door always seems to attract the most amazing
guys? The answer is simple – men are naturally by nature drawn to women who look and feel
confident about themselves. Until the moment you show him that you are confident in your own
skin, he won 't treat you as you would like to be treated. Of course, everyone has their own baggage,

Research Paper On Crime Mapping
1.) Crime Mapping is the use of patterns of criminal activity were identified on pin maps. Colored
stick pins that would be stuck on around different places on a map of the city, country, district,
precinct, or other area. Different colors corresponded to different types of crimes. This approach,
while crude, permitted police to identify problem areas and patterns of criminal activity. The
problem was that the maps were one dimensional and could easily get crowded with pins, especially
in the case of minor crimes that occurred with great frequency. These maps were also static they
could not be easily be changed to serve a different purposes like tracking certain types of crimes
over time. Crime mapping has became so common that it has created the Crime Mapping Research
Center. The center promotes research, training, and technical help for police agencies around the
country and help them in their mapping efforts. Mapping the crimes in and around the city can also
help law enforcement protect citizens more effectively in the areas they serve. Any regular map of
any city can help display the locations were crimes or concentrations of crimes that have occurred

What Does Conquering A Culture Of Indecision?
What does conquering a culture of indecision? According to Charan (2013) suggests it is leaders of
organization that are setting the culture for indecision. Specially, when a leader allow the decision to
be completed by silent approval, giving others the indication of approving the actions of the
decision. The expression of lack of emotion could present others with false approvals, or the belief
of the approval. Therefore, interacting with the employees within the decision could help to concur
positive results. Charan (2013) advised leaders in order to change the indecision culture in their
company, they must stimulate the" intellectual honesty and trust in the connections between people"
(Charan, 2013, p. 59). In addition, to creating an indecision culture, a leader have the ability to
break it. Being productive with each encounter, social operation mechanism, being responsible and
implementing could shape the organization to establish a powerful culture (Charan, 2013). In all
honesty, the negotiation need to be imbedded in the company social operating mechanisms, which,
transact through the company as well as, the individual decisions have to be recognized. According
to Charan (2013) conquer of a culture decision begins with dialogue, innovation, viewpoints,
equipped for action, and being passionate about the decision. Furthermore, you have to be ready to

Analysis And Evaluation Of Working With A Team
Executive Summary (250 words) This report provides an analysis and evaluation of working with a
team in order to achieve both individual and team goals. This has been done through the application
of decision–making, attribution theory and perception to understand how to achieve the best
outcome given any circumstance. Before any of the Everest climbs, the clear consensus of the group
was that communication was vital in order to be successful. To do so, social media such as
Facebook and Skype Conference calls, Google documents and face–to–face communication both
during and after tutorials were utilised. Through the comparison of two different simulation
environments with similar scenarios and roles for each, results have indicated that groups who
spend time prior to the exercise combined with past experiences and clear communication are more
likely to complete the tasks assigned to them and therefore reach their goals together. This is evident
in the 14% increase to 69% of the completion of group goals in the second climb, as opposed to just
54% in the first. Individual goals also increased from 14% to 86% for the environmentalist, a great
improvement which is attributed to the increase in communication due to the second climb being
done face–to–face, where the application of perceptual skills was more successful since everyone
was able to identify and voice their opinions in the same environment. This report also highlights
that while the outcome of one group may have

played the major role in crime analysis and detection.
The places or locations for crime is continuously growing therefore, identification of the crime hot
spots can play a vital role in developing an effective criminal justice intervention to reduce crime.
Geography plays a significant influence on the crime as the characteristics of the landscape,
placement of the building, open spaces determines the nature of the crime. If these geographical
data is combined and used together with incident databases it will become an effective way to

Decision Making at the Executive Level Essay
Decision Making at the Executive Level The focus of my term paper is the decision making process
used by today's top–level managers. Top–level managers, such as Chief Executive Officers (CEOs),
Chief Operations Officers (COOs), and Chief Financial Officers (CFOs), must make critical
decisions on a daily basis. Their choices and the resulting outcomes affect the company, the
employees, and the stakeholders. Due to the high importance of their decisions, the process they use
to reach them merits a close examination. A study published in the winter 1997 volume of Business
Strategy Review suggests the major factor in a decisions success is the decision process itself. The
study, by Paul Nutt, suggests that poor decision making ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The study divided this task into four different areas. The first area, labeled concept tactic, used a
solution to a problem to guide the decision. The second, problem solving, uses an existing problem
to direct the decision. The third area, objective setting, uses a preferred performance level to decide
the course to follow. The last area, reframing, uses benchmarking to prove that a decision must be
made. The last area was implemented more times in the study than the others. I believe that this is
because competition is very fierce, and executives often feel that they must keep ahead of others in
their industry. By comparing themselves to others of equal size and direction, companies must act
fast if they want to keep their competitive advantage. The next step in the decision making process
is to identify the alternatives. According to the author of the study, there are three ways to generate
options; by copying, searching, or designing. The first way is to adapt an existing option to fit the

Summary Paper One Assignment
Crimes are inevitable. Law enforcement agencies will always develop new methods or ways to
apprehend criminals as criminals also develop new ways to commit crimes. Communication plays
an integral part in law enforcement because it acts as a bridge between criminal analysts or
producers and consumers i.e. patrol officers, detectives, agents, policy makers, etc. in order to
produce results in the field whether it is operational or strategic operations. Reducing crimes is one
of the main goals of law enforcement agencies. In the field of criminal justice, the use criminal

Consumer Behavior of an International Chinese Student Essay
Introduction
Consumer behaviour is defined as the behaviour that consumers undertake in seeking, purchasing,
using, evaluating and disposing of products and services that they expect will satisfy their personal
needs (Nayeem 2012). Different consumer may have different choices in purchase that is dependent
on various influences. High involvement purchase sets the best example of engaging in consumer
behaviour in various aspects as complex buying behaviour occurs when the consumer is highly
involved with the purchase and when there are significant differences between brands. This
behaviour can be associated with the purchase of a something significant in value and meaning to
consumer which could be risky (Tanner 2012). High ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Wei is limited by a budget of $200–$250 for the purchase. Therefore, the purpose of
purchase is to select appropriate yet economical gifts for his family for the occasion. Lanolin cream
is a reasonable choice for Wei upon consideration because of the reasonable price and the product
awareness among his family members. There are two relevant situational influences in this purchase
situation. Situational influences is all those factors that impact customer's decision beside the
condition of products self and pertains to time and location (Quester, etc, 2013, p.38). Those two
relevant dimensions under situational influences in this situation are temporal perspectives and task
definition.
The temporal perspectives refer to the specific time during purchase for customer. In this instance,
the gifts are for Chinese New Year occasion. Therefore the purchase is specific to the festival
season. Furthermore, Wei has ample time to consider and make the purchase as he has able to
survey during the long weekend holiday for the gifts just before Chinese New Year. Task definition
is the reason for customer purchase of products, and includes customer's requirements for the
products. Wei`s reason is to represent his wishes to his family for Chinese New Year. The
requirements of Wei for the gifts are that it is Australian made product, could be conveniently
purchased and suitable for his entire family members and thus chooses

The Marketing Plan Of The Patagonia Marketing Strategy
As a consumer of outdoor clothing for skiing and fishing I prefer to purchase Patagonia products.
Since I have become a loyal customer to their products, I now skip some of the steps in the decision
making process. However for this essay I will discuss how I have become a loyal customer and how
I have moved through the varies stages of decision–making. The process consists of five different
stages the consumer moves through, from initial stage of recognizing a need to the final stage of
post purchase. Additionally I will discuss the Patagonia marketing strategy in detail and why I think
they have a successful strategy.
The first stage in the decision making process is the need recognition stage. Need recognition, is
when a consumer recognizes they have an unsatisfied need of which they want to fulfil (Grewl &
Levy, 2014). Being an avid outdoorsman and growing up in the mountainous region of Idaho, I
spent many days being wet and cold in the winters. Initially my decision to purchase clothing was
driven by cost rather than performance. After spending a season wearing the subpar outdoor
clothing I had recognized the need to stay dry and warm during the winter months. My need
requirement and assessment was focused on the physiological risk, whereas what would happen if
the product did not perform as expected (Grewl & Levy, 2014). The result would be another wet and
cold season on the slopes.
Moving forward with my decision to fulfil the need for warmer, dryer and

Business Analysis On Business Communication
Although much associated with business still relies on face–to–face communication, technology has
taken its place in business–to–business communication practices as being reliable, effective, and
efficient. Whether discussing a major decision with an executive level officer, starting a new
company in search of product and distribution, or informing a department that layoffs may occur,
the communication process remains the same. A purpose defines the reason a process begins. The
initiator, or the sender, has an intended message for a specific audience, the receiver. With business–

(About.com, 2011). On a good day, walking into a business to solicit a different product, service, or
partnership opportunity means that a decision maker has been spoken with and an additional
appointment may be established so that decision maker can have more available time to hear what is
being pitched. More than likely, however, a card or name will be collected with contact information
and that particular individual must create a method of re–contacting those potential business
opportunities at a later time. Through the use of VOIP, or voice over Internet provider as a less
expensive way for a business to have phone services, a call is made to create a relationship that
could potentially provide additional opportunities. The salesperson acts as the sender with the
purpose of selling his company's products or services. The receiver should be the decision–making
contact that had been collected while cold calling. The environment is more than likely a cubicle to
personal office setting and depending on how the day of that decision maker is going will determine
if the noise becomes too distracting. If the message is delivered successfully, hopefully that
salesman will receive positive feedback.
In this particular situation, the message and technology used are appropriate given the environment
and purpose because unless that salesperson makes face–to–face contact on the initial visit, phone
and e–mail will be that individual's only available means of

Data Quality As Crime And Crime
In our continuing state of shrinking government operating budgets, crime scientists and crime
analysts need to consider the interrelatedness of spatial and temporal shifts in crime patterns when
creating, tracking, and handling crime hot spots. Many studies indicate that crimes are clustered at

specific parts of neighborhoods contain high concentrations of crime

2.2 History of GIS and Crime The use of GIS in crime has been around for centuries with Dent
(2000) tracing the mapping of crime back to 1829, when Adriano Balbi and André Michel Guerry
created choropleth maps showing the relationship between violent and property crimes with
education levels. As time went on sociologists from the Chicago School, Shaw and McKay (1931)
began to map crimes by their XY coordinates to show the geographic location to understand the
importance of the crime location. In the 1980's the reduction in price of computers meant it became
more cost effective for GIS Applications (Longley et al, 2011). With the introduction of the new GIS
technologies, the ability to use police records within the GIS applications allowed for crime and
intelligence analysis (Radcliff, 2004). These days the advancements in technology and the
reductions in cost has resulted in GIS applications moving from the backroom computer analysis
tool to be used by almost every discipline, from criminology to healthcare, natural resources to
economics. These advancements have not just been in the applications but also in the science behind
them. This has allowed for more advanced analysis, which use well known mathematical models

The activities that represented also consist of a lot of different tasks. Micro level is a more detailed
level which specifies each single action, process and decision making points. It is clearly illustrated
in the Appendix on Page 7 for the total levels of mapping a process. (Damelio, R, 2011, p.125–134)
Implications and Analysis of Process Mapping Process maps display the activities of any particular
process; it has been an important tool for the implication in the manufacturing market. In the
manufacturing industry, waste elimination is an effective way to add profit in its distribution
business. It is essential to recognize what the waste is and where it exists. Taiichi Ohno, the former
Chief Engineer at Toyota, has identified 7 wastes in the manufacturing process relying on the maps.
(Tapping, D et al, 2002, p.40–45) * Overproduction * Transportation * Motion * Waiting * Over
Processing * Excess Inventory * Defects These 7 wastes are the basics of the unprofitable actions of
the business. See the Appendix on Page 8, for the detail explanation for these wastes. It has the
possibility by evaluating the wasted in each process for the improvement of its value. Conclusion To
summarize, the process mapping has been considered in details for the improvement of service
operation. As mapping the processes with the specific symbol, it could not only easily identify the
different types of activity that happened during the operation process, but also

Harvard Business Review: 1996: What Is Strategy:...
Micheal E Potter: 1996 (What is Strategy, Harvard Business Review) has define strategy by using
five concepts. Each statement can be summarized as below:
1. Operational effectiveness is not strategy.
According to M E Potter: 1996 Operational effectiveness and strategy are both essential to chive
superior performance, which is the primary goal of any organization. Operational effectiveness is
about performing similar activities better than competitors. It refers to any number of practices that
allow the organization to better utilize its inputs. In the other hand strategic position is about
performing different activities from competitors or performing similar activities in different ways.

Inconsistencies in image or reputation.
II. Tradeoffs arise from activities themselves.
III. Tradeoffs arise from limits on internal coordination and control.
Therefore M E Porte: 1996 has stated that tradeoffs are essential to strategy as they are creating the
need for choice and purposefully limit what a company offers.
4. Fit drives both competitive advantage and sustainability
Fit locks out imitators by creating a chain that is as strong as its strongest links. Simply fit means
that poor performance in one activity will degrade the performance in others, so that weaknesses are
exposed and more prone to get attention. For an example, cost of an activity can be decreased due to
performance of another activity. Or particular activities value to customer can be enhanced by
another activity. That's how strategic fit bring advantages and competencies to an organization. M E
Porter: 1996 has mentioned three types of fits as follows:
I. Simple consistency between each activity and overall strategy.
II. Occurs when activities are reinforcing.
III. Optimization of effort.
Fit and sustainability
Competitive advantage grows out of the entire system of activities. The fit among activities
substantially reduce cost or increases differentiation. Therefore strategic fit is essential not only to
gain competitive advantages but also to the sustainability of that

Similar to CoCoRaHS, Public Lab is another community based effort where individuals can learn
how to investigate environmental concerns. These community organizers come up with ways to
create low cost solutions for monitoring air, water and land. In 2010, an explosion on BP's
Deepwater horizon oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico killed eleven workers and injured seventeen others.
Massive quantities of oil was flowing into the Gulf of Mexico. It took four months to contain the
leaks but they were also containing a lot of information. News reporters were being turned back
from documenting the spill and access to the site was being controlled. The Solution? Balloons and
Kites. These everyday objects were used to do "Grassroots Mapping". They captured high
resolution, close up imagery. The team was able to capture aerial images to document the spill.
People being affected by this environmental hazard were being shut out, but Public Lab provided
the tools and techniques anyone interested in could use to help build up data. Unlike the BP Spill
many natural disasters can not be avoided, and every minute is important after a disaster situation.
So maps and navigation systems play an important role when organizations like the Red Cross need
to assist disaster victims. No problem, right? We'll just open up Google Maps, and find our

The Pros And Cons Of Geographic Profiling
"For any crime to occur, there must have been an intersection in both time and place between the
offender and victim" (Rossmo, 2012). The traditional investigative methods employed to solve
serial crimes is on the basis of the theoretical principle of psychology; by analyzing the cognitive
processes of the offender and the role of the target rather than the nature of the situation. However,
this reactive approach disregards the extent to which environmental factors are able to manipulate
the offender's behavior leading up to the criminal act. This may include factors such as the shape,
size, and distribution between one crime scene to another. A developing technique recently

Crim Mapping Crime Chapter Summary
In chapter 2, Short discusses the many ways that maps have advanced over centuries. Without the
satellites and technology that we have today, maps were first created from educated guesses. Some
people thought the Earth was flat. Others believed that the universe revolved around the Earth.
Although maps have not always had the accuracy that they do today, they have still played a large
role in how we solve problems, especially when it comes to crime and public health. The latitude
and longitude on a map may be able to tell us where a neighborhood is located, but it doesn't explain
much about the area itself. Mapping crime began in France in the early 1800's. It was first used to
show where different types of crime were occurring. Throughout the years, mapping crime has
advanced, giving law enforcement a visual of where crime occurs most frequently. These maps help
detectives and police officers to understand crime. They have learned that crime is most likely to
happen far enough from a criminal's home to not raise suspicion, but close enough that the criminals
are still feels comfortable with the area. A great example of the positive effects of ... Show more

If there is a certain illness that is targeting one area of a map, then it is easier to narrow down the
cause of the illness. Maps can also help us learn where we need to build hospitals, urgent care

know that a specific area has a higher crime rate, we can increase the police presence in that area to
stop the crime before it happens. Mapping of crime and public health have helped the government
and general public learn how to improve the quality of life for the people living in that area.

The Day Of The Last Rock Fight
The reasoning and thought process behind any decision will dictate the outcome of the situation, as
it is affected by prior knowledge and experience, which is necessary in predicting how an event will
play out. In both "The Day of the Last Rock Fight" by Joseph Whitechill and "Lather and Nothing
Else" by Hernando Tellez, the authors use fear driven characters who are in similar situations
regarding immorality. However, the events leading to and reasoning behind their thoughts remain
very different despite the fact that the circumstances they find themselves in are alike in nature. This
is portrayed through the barber and Ronnie's contrasting beliefs and impact from society. It is also
shown through the variance in the decision making process carried out by the two individuals.
Ronnie habitually makes hasty decisions that will benefit himself, whereas the barber makes
calculated and selfless decisions. Through the two stories it is explained that the latter will result in
a better conclusion, as being selfish and too quick to act can lead to unexpected personal and
external conflicts. The opposing outcomes highlight the idea that the ways in which decisions are
made are extremely influential, regardless of the circumstances. Though the barber and Ronnie are
in almost parallel situations, their values and pressure from society play a major role in determining
the type of decisions they make, and in turn the eventual conclusion of the issue at hand. In "The

High–Tech, Low–Involvement: Changing Consumers' Search for Information The internet has made
it significantly easier for consumers to conduct an information search during the consumer
decision–making process. Almost every household owns a computer and has access to the internet.
This makes the internet highly accessible, hence information search is fast and convenient. From the
case study, Grace wanted to buy a toaster and it has became a priority for her. Buying a toaster used
to be a low involvement process for Grace. Initially, she was not interested to spend much time and
effort, and low price was the main factor in buying a toaster. However, internet offers both high and

A consumer like her, who if not for the internet, as stated in case study 'would have only spent five
minutes comparing the three brands that each store stocks and bought whichever was the cheapest'.
As mentioned above, if Grace were to physically visit the stores and compare the toasters, she
would probably spent up to days solely on the information gathering process, much less analyzing
the information to arrive upon her decision. The efficiency of the internet allows Grace to not only
be aware of her needs, but also saved a huge amount of time and cost in terms of information
searching. It has turned her limited information search into an extended one effortlessly. As quality
of information available online improves, consumers can make more informed decisions when
deciding on a purchase. They possess 'information power', and have the internet access at their
dispose whenever they are equipped with their laptops or even mobile phones. The process of
information search is simplified through internet and make it more beneficial and swift for both
low–involvement and high–involvement consumer. After a random search on several websites for

Design Model For Curriculum Planning
Teachers around the world are tasked with what seems to be an impossible job. Increasing students'
knowledge and skills is no easy task, yet millions do it daily. Many can attribute their success to the
ability to design a curriculum that engages learners and sets the foundation for success. Heidi Hayes
Jacobs believes that a good curriculum sets the path for students to take (Laureate Education, n.d.).
The process of curriculum mapping helps to ensure that learning is cohesive and beneficial to the
individual needs of our students. Curriculum mapping provides the foundation and vision of
learning. Once that foundation is set, it is up to the teacher to bring each individual lesson to life in a
way that will truly impact students.
Developing the Unit Plan
My campus is one that promotes and practices the Understanding by Design model for curriculum
planning. When creating my unit, I wanted to complete the process on my own so that I could gain
practice. Being familiar with the Understanding by Design model and thinking with the end in mind,
made the process of creating a unit very smooth. Jay McTighe (2010) found "that the intentional use
of backward design results in more clearly defined goals, more appropriate assessments and more
purposeful teaching" (p. 274). When planning my interdisciplinary unit, I constantly asked myself if
the activity or assessment reflected the standards that students would be learning. Constantly
reviewing the knowledge students will gain in a

A Brief Note On The Person Centered Care Essay
Person–centred care Person –centred care refers to the care delivered in accordance with the
individual needs and preferences, but also considering all aspects including physical and mental
health issues. Furthermore, family and carers are being provided information in order to understand
and to support the patient through their care with the aim for the best care under the given
circumstances (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence 2011). In addition, the care
planning needs to consider all aspects of care, including the individual 's wishes and preferences in
accordance with their rights to accept or to refuse the treatment. Buka (2015) argues that before the
Human Rights Act 1998 patients ' rights were not recognised and the decision making process
belonged entirely to the doctors due to paternalism which now was substituted by the Person–

  • 4. Business Goals Through Effective Community Management The company agrees to the fact that it is important for the company to cater for business goals through effective community management (Da Silveira, 2013) .The positioning of Sainsbury is comparatively plain and it helps the users to quickly scroll through the main menu. The scale of Sainsbury in the realm of operating in retail business is compact; hence this is reflected in the website layout as well. However, position of Sainsbury is not cost effective, since it doesn't offer interesting discounts. It has been seen that both the companies try to foster loyalty programs that helps to widen brand loyalty and builds brand equity by leaps and bounds. The loyalty card feature of Sainsbury takes into account the intangible profitable feature that is invested in corporate social responsibility, rather than monetarily and extrinsically benefitting customers directly. The layout in the website is user friendly and is easy to interpret. Hence, this is how value creation and proposition is identified (Balmer, 2012). Sainsbury involves itself in customer's lives rather than conventionally providing services. In this case, the provider's sphere is the extra Sainsbury funds invested for customer's sphere (independent value– quality and price wise). Hence, a joint spherical value realm is created as Sainsbury's through loyalty charity programs created as Sainsbury's through loyalty charity programs (Gronroos & Voima, 2012). • 5. Reaction of Letting a Indigent into the Hospital To begin this discussion of this unfortunate incident obviously there was a lack of communication by all parties involved. An incident such as this one should never have occurred to begin with, but since the person is an indigent perhaps this is why this oversight occurred. Using the classic decision model the first thing that we have to do as stated is identify the problem. As stated by South University, "determine what additional information you need and where you will get it to clearly define the problem." (South University, 2013, Decision–Making Model). The problem is the hospital allowed an indigent in the hospital for dialysis which the hospital does not allow. The hospital managers and administrators need to understand how this problem occurred, why it occurred, and speak to the people involved who allowed this person into the hospital for this procedure. The second part of the classic decision model is determining who the stakeholders are involved in the situation. We need to determine how to handle this situation and who to speak to about it. As stated by South University, "When you decide who should participate, you will also decide how they participate. You will want to speak with some people individually, especially those persons who contribute technical or other knowledge relating to the subject matter and who is a specialist in the situation," (South University, 2013). At this point it is best to speak to a manager and head of the Emergency ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

CRIME MAPPING IN KENYA: USING GIS TO EXAMINE CRIME SITUATION IN ELDORET METROPOLIS By CAROLINE JEPKEMBOI CHEPLONG A RESEARCH CONCEPT NOTE SUBMITTED IN PARTIAL FULFIMENT OF THE DEGREE OF DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY IN GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS OF UNIVERSITY OF NAIROBI JULY, 2015 ABSTRACT Technological advancements such as Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) and the Internet have made it easier and affordable to share information, which enables complex and time sensitive decisions to be made with higher confidence. Further, advancements in information technology have dramatically increased the ability to store, manage, integrate, and correlate larger amounts of data to improve operational efficiency. The studies have shows that crime is on the rise and that the police are handicapped in managing it because of the obsolete methods and resources at their disposal. Therefore, crime maps are becoming significant tools in crime and justice. Advances in the areas of information technology and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) have opened new opportunities for the use of digital mapping in crime control and prevention programs. Crime maps are also valuable for the study of the ecology and the locational aspects of crime. Maps enable areas of unusually high or low concentration of crime to be visually identified. Maps are however only pictorial representations of the results of more or less complex spatial data analyses. Therefore, the study therefore seeks to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Decision Based Modeling : Case Study Decision Based Modeling The purpose of this paper is to review a business case presented by a laboratory services company and make recommendations on how best to incorporate required changes and the impact it will have on current and future operations. Prior to making any recommendation, a review of the company's existing business operations is required. This assessment will afford the decision maker various tools in which informed decisions can be made. More times than not, multiple options are available and can prove successful, even dealing with situations that require complex decisions. There are several decision based modeling schemes out there, but for this paper three models were compared against the business case to determine which afforded the greatest supportability. Graham Allison published The Essence of Decision in 1971; Allison suggested that there are three perspectives that one might use to analyze a major decision: (1) the rational model, (2) the organizational process model, and (3) the governmental politics model which will be referred to as the collaborative model (Nahavandi,A., Denhardt, R., Denhardt, J., & Aristigueta, M., 2015). These models will be discussed in detail and compared against the business case presented by the laboratory services company. Also, there are several techniques and skills that can be incorporated into these models to increase the chance of success. This paper will compare some of the options available to management ... I do not like when I am creating something and the model or tool I am using is coming out the way or doing what I want it to do, and trying to figure out how to fix what it is doing. This month I honestly struggled with almost anything in creating in Maya. I am a reentry student, I was previously enrolled 2010 and 2011 so coming back to Full Sail in 2017 was a struggle because I have not been practicing with Maya or any ... Potter, we will discuss in this paper how and why to apply the Potter Box, which is an analytical tool that assesses ethics of decision making and dilemmas. By using the Potter Box, we are guided towards a decision after considering a number of elements and steps very carefully. To be more specific, we will be understanding the four interrelated steps for making an ethical decision. As you complete each quadrant it is important to remember that two point of views need to be exposed so you can have a clear picture of the situation presented and the alternatives to making the final decision. Let's dive into the Potter Box. Quadrant 1 To start the first quadrant of the Potter Box you must be able to define the situation you are in, or just describe all the facts you know. To do that, begin by gathering all available information that affects the situation from the beginning until what it looks like at the moment of the decision. By listing the facts that you see yourself in, you can better understand it. Here all facts are necessary, it is important not to make any judgments or hide any of the facts. This is called empirical definition, where you will be defining the situation objectively. The steps to start the empirical definition are just responding to basic questions that will describe your situation: who is involved, what is going on, why this is happening, where it is occurring, and ... Colored stick pins that would be stuck on around different places on a map of the city, country, district, precinct, or other area. Different colors corresponded to different types of crimes. This approach, while crude, permitted police to identify problem areas and patterns of criminal activity. The problem was that the maps were one dimensional and could easily get crowded with pins, especially in the case of minor crimes that occurred with great frequency. Before any of the Everest climbs, the clear consensus of the group was that communication was vital in order to be successful. Through the comparison of two different simulation environments with similar scenarios and roles for each, results have indicated that groups who spend time prior to the exercise combined with past experiences and clear communication are more likely to complete the tasks assigned to them and therefore reach their goals together. This is evident in the 14% increase to 69% of the completion of group goals in the second climb, as opposed to just 54% in the first. Individual goals also increased from 14% to 86% for the environmentalist, a great improvement which is attributed to the increase in communication due to the second climb being done face–to–face, where the application of perceptual skills was more successful since everyone was able to identify and voice their opinions in the same environment. (Damelio, R, 2011, p.125–134) Implications and Analysis of Process Mapping Process maps display the activities of any particular process; it has been an important tool for the implication in the manufacturing market. In the manufacturing industry, waste elimination is an effective way to add profit in its distribution business. It is essential to recognize what the waste is and where it exists. Taiichi Ohno, the former Chief Engineer at Toyota, has identified 7 wastes in the manufacturing process relying on the maps. (Tapping, D et al, 2002, p.40–45) * Overproduction * Transportation * Motion * Waiting * Over Processing * Excess Inventory * Defects These 7 wastes are the basics of the unprofitable actions of the business. See the Appendix on Page 8, for the detail explanation for these wastes. It has the possibility by evaluating the wasted in each process for the improvement of its value. Conclusion To summarize, the process mapping has been considered in details for the improvement of service operation. As mapping the processes with the specific symbol, it could not only easily identify the different types of activity that happened during the operation process, but also ... • 33. Harvard Business Review: 1996: What Is Strategy:... Micheal E Potter: 1996 (What is Strategy, Harvard Business Review) has define strategy by using five concepts. Each statement can be summarized as below: 1. Operational effectiveness is not strategy. According to M E Potter: 1996 Operational effectiveness and strategy are both essential to chive superior performance, which is the primary goal of any organization. Operational effectiveness is about performing similar activities better than competitors. It refers to any number of practices that allow the organization to better utilize its inputs. In the other hand strategic position is about performing different activities from competitors or performing similar activities in different ways. But the organizations have been failed to achieve sustainable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Inconsistencies in image or reputation. II. Tradeoffs arise from activities themselves. III. Tradeoffs arise from limits on internal coordination and control. Therefore M E Porte: 1996 has stated that tradeoffs are essential to strategy as they are creating the need for choice and purposefully limit what a company offers. 4. Fit drives both competitive advantage and sustainability Fit locks out imitators by creating a chain that is as strong as its strongest links. Simply fit means that poor performance in one activity will degrade the performance in others, so that weaknesses are exposed and more prone to get attention. For an example, cost of an activity can be decreased due to performance of another activity. Or particular activities value to customer can be enhanced by another activity. That's how strategic fit bring advantages and competencies to an organization. M E Porter: 1996 has mentioned three types of fits as follows: I. Simple consistency between each activity and overall strategy. II. Occurs when activities are reinforcing. III. Optimization of effort. Fit and sustainability Competitive advantage grows out of the entire system of activities. The fit among activities substantially reduce cost or increases differentiation. Therefore strategic fit is essential not only to gain competitive advantages but also to the sustainability of that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the beginning of this episode one of the speakers says, "Every single data point has a human story." Today many people are pursuing their passions, while being able to gather data. This data is not only useful for research, but can save lives. Warnings for flash floods, disaster reliefs maps, or protecting our planet – We, "The Crowd" can play a big role in our communities or even half way around the world. Similar to CoCoRaHS, Public Lab is another community based effort where individuals can learn how to investigate environmental concerns. These community organizers come up with ways to create low cost solutions for monitoring air, water and land. In 2010, an explosion on BP's Deepwater horizon oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico killed eleven workers and injured seventeen others. Massive quantities of oil was flowing into the Gulf of Mexico. It took four months to contain the leaks but they were also containing a lot of information. News reporters were being turned back from documenting the spill and access to the site was being controlled. The Solution? Balloons and Kites. These everyday objects were used to do "Grassroots Mapping". They captured high resolution, close up imagery. The team was able to capture aerial images to document the spill. People being affected by this environmental hazard were being shut out, but Public Lab provided the tools and techniques anyone interested in could use to help build up data. Unlike the BP Spill many natural disasters can not be avoided, and every minute is important after a disaster situation. So maps and navigation systems play an important role when organizations like the Red Cross need to assist disaster victims. No problem, right? • 35. The Pros And Cons Of Geographic Profiling "For any crime to occur, there must have been an intersection in both time and place between the offender and victim" (Rossmo, 2012). The traditional investigative methods employed to solve serial crimes is on the basis of the theoretical principle of psychology; by analyzing the cognitive processes of the offender and the role of the target rather than the nature of the situation. However, this reactive approach disregards the extent to which environmental factors are able to manipulate the offender's behavior leading up to the criminal act. This may include factors such as the shape, size, and distribution between one crime scene to another. A developing technique recently incorporated into policing, primarily to address the limitations of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Di Naso discusses the geographical strategies and analysis (e.g., field surveys, news articles, mapping, satellite networks) conducted in his investigation to locate the burial of victims of the Herrin Massacre that occurred in Herrin, Illinois in 1922. Di Naso's team of investigators suggested the case be conducted from a geographical approach by remapping the historical context of the massacre. He argued that locating the bodies could not be achieved by simply mapping the probable location of the bodies, due to the nature of the cemetery, but instead by discovering what is beneath the surface (i.e., environmental ... • 36. Crim Mapping Crime Chapter Summary In chapter 2, Short discusses the many ways that maps have advanced over centuries. Without the satellites and technology that we have today, maps were first created from educated guesses. Some people thought the Earth was flat. Others believed that the universe revolved around the Earth. Although maps have not always had the accuracy that they do today, they have still played a large role in how we solve problems, especially when it comes to crime and public health. The latitude and longitude on a map may be able to tell us where a neighborhood is located, but it doesn't explain much about the area itself. Mapping crime began in France in the early 1800's. It was first used to show where different types of crime were occurring. Throughout the years, mapping crime has advanced, giving law enforcement a visual of where crime occurs most frequently. These maps help detectives and police officers to understand crime. They have learned that crime is most likely to happen far enough from a criminal's home to not raise suspicion, but close enough that the criminals are still feels comfortable with the area. If we know that a specific area has a higher crime rate, we can increase the police presence in that area to stop the crime before it happens. Mapping of crime and public health have helped the government and general public learn how to improve the quality of life for the people living in that area. • 37. The Day Of The Last Rock Fight The reasoning and thought process behind any decision will dictate the outcome of the situation, as it is affected by prior knowledge and experience, which is necessary in predicting how an event will play out. In both "The Day of the Last Rock Fight" by Joseph Whitechill and "Lather and Nothing Else" by Hernando Tellez, the authors use fear driven characters who are in similar situations regarding immorality. However, the events leading to and reasoning behind their thoughts remain very different despite the fact that the circumstances they find themselves in are alike in nature. This is portrayed through the barber and Ronnie's contrasting beliefs and impact from society. It is also shown through the variance in the decision making process carried out by the two individuals. Ronnie habitually makes hasty decisions that will benefit himself, whereas the barber makes calculated and selfless decisions. Through the two stories it is explained that the latter will result in a better conclusion, as being selfish and too quick to act can lead to unexpected personal and external conflicts. The opposing outcomes highlight the idea that the ways in which decisions are made are extremely influential, regardless of the circumstances. Though the barber and Ronnie are in almost parallel situations, their values and pressure from society play a major role in determining the type of decisions they make, and in turn the eventual conclusion of the issue at hand. Policing And Crime I feel rural areas have been neglected in research and practice because most people feel nothing happen in rural areas. they feel we all know each other, so we would know who committed the crime against us, but that is not always true, A lot of time other people come from other cities and towns to commit crime. This is why we need policing, and crime mapping in some of these rural, and without policing and crime mapping we are being neglected in these areas. Another things is a lot of times our lawmakers do not think we need money for policing in these areas because they feel it is not enough crimes in these areas , so urban cities get a lot more funding than rural areas. High–Tech, Low–Involvement: Changing Consumers' Search for Information The internet has made it significantly easier for consumers to conduct an information search during the consumer decision–making process. Almost every household owns a computer and has access to the internet. This makes the internet highly accessible, hence information search is fast and convenient. From the case study, Grace wanted to buy a toaster and it has became a priority for her. Buying a toaster used to be a low involvement process for Grace. Initially, she was not interested to spend much time and effort, and low price was the main factor in buying a toaster. However, internet offers both high and low involvement consumers a wealth of shopping ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As mentioned above, if Grace were to physically visit the stores and compare the toasters, she would probably spent up to days solely on the information gathering process, much less analyzing the information to arrive upon her decision. The efficiency of the internet allows Grace to not only be aware of her needs, but also saved a huge amount of time and cost in terms of information searching. It has turned her limited information search into an extended one effortlessly. As quality of information available online improves, consumers can make more informed decisions when deciding on a purchase. They possess 'information power', and have the internet access at their dispose whenever they are equipped with their laptops or even mobile phones. The process of information search is simplified through internet and make it more beneficial and swift for both low–involvement and high–involvement consumer. After a random search on several websites for online consumer reviews, we discovered that in general, many online consumers prefer to rate the satisfactory level of a product on a neutral stand, which means on a scale of 5, they would give rating at 2.5 or 3. With tactical mapping products you wait for the next offense to happen to create a new map and prediction and help catch the offender. There are only a few analyst across the country that ever do tactical analysis. This function seems to be increasing but it does require the analyst to work very closely with the case detectives and that relationship has to be nurtured over time. • 41. Design Model For Curriculum Planning Teachers around the world are tasked with what seems to be an impossible job. Increasing students' knowledge and skills is no easy task, yet millions do it daily. Many can attribute their success to the ability to design a curriculum that engages learners and sets the foundation for success. Heidi Hayes Jacobs believes that a good curriculum sets the path for students to take (Laureate Education, n.d.). The process of curriculum mapping helps to ensure that learning is cohesive and beneficial to the individual needs of our students. Curriculum mapping provides the foundation and vision of learning. Once that foundation is set, it is up to the teacher to bring each individual lesson to life in a way that will truly impact students. Developing the Unit Plan My campus is one that promotes and practices the Understanding by Design model for curriculum planning. When creating my unit, I wanted to complete the process on my own so that I could gain practice. Being familiar with the Understanding by Design model and thinking with the end in mind, made the process of creating a unit very smooth. Jay McTighe (2010) found "that the intentional use of backward design results in more clearly defined goals, more appropriate assessments and more purposeful teaching" (p. 274). When planning my interdisciplinary unit, I constantly asked myself if the activity or assessment reflected the standards that students would be learning. • 42. A Brief Note On The Person Centered Care Essay Person–centred care Person –centred care refers to the care delivered in accordance with the individual needs and preferences, but also considering all aspects including physical and mental health issues. Furthermore, family and carers are being provided information in order to understand and to support the patient through their care with the aim for the best care under the given circumstances (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence 2011). In addition, the care planning needs to consider all aspects of care, including the individual 's wishes and preferences in accordance with their rights to accept or to refuse the treatment. Buka (2015) argues that before the Human Rights Act 1998 patients ' rights were not recognised and the decision making process belonged entirely to the doctors due to paternalism which now was substituted by the Person– centred care.
