Anomaly detection and data imputation within time series
The music bizz
1. The music biz documentary is a mixed documentary because it contains
observational footage, interviews, archive footage etc.
As part of this series, I studied “The Marketing of Meatloaf”.
4. Not direct
address.
Conventional of an
interview.
This
interview was
side on,
which made
it look
different.
Unconventio
nal.
Use of green
screen behind
the
interviewee’s
show the music
video by
meatloaf.
The sunglasses
show his
personality and
elements of rock
star stereotypes.
Dressed formally, shows he
is more concerned in the
business side of the music
industry.
Rule of thirds,
meaning the
interviewee looks
at the interviewer
not the camera.
In locations
that are
relevant.
5. Conventional
element of
cinematography
is the handheld
camera. This
documentary
also used zoom
in some shots.
Uses a close up
of his hand on
the computer to
show his
professional
work.
During the awards ceremony there are extreme long
shots of the crowd to give a sense of the atmosphere
and meat’s fan base.
Used a
medium
close up
during the
interview
process.
Use of
panning
during
document
ary.
6. The typical
use of
editing in
documentari
es is the
simple cut,
and is also
used in The
music biz
frequently.
Used in the
interviews to
cut to
archive
footage so
they could
trim part of
the interview
that they felt
weren’t
necessary.
Use of fading to
give each
interviewee the
chance to talk.
There was a montage at the
beginning of the documentary.
Use of cut aways.
7. The narration
(aka the voice of
God) was used
to confirm the
exposition. The
narrator was a
young man with
no particular
accent.
There was also a lot of
meatloaf music included
to give the audience an
idea of what the context
is about. This went along
with archive footage of
the music video.
Also, there was non-
diegetic music when the
Village people where
being filmed.
8. There was a graphic
overlay for every
persons name and there
occupation within the
industry. Was also used
for archive footage of
things like the Brit
Awards in 1994.
Used for the Music Bizz
logo.
9. The footage of
the Brit awards
in 1994, with
Meatloaf's
performance.
Meatloaf's Bat
out of Hell
music video
and the behind
the scenes
video was
archive
footage.
