2. Type of documentary
This documentary is very factual and it also a “Voice of
god” documentary meaning that someone throughout
the episode speaks what is going on but it has to be
backed up by archive footage and cutter way shots. This
is about a singer called meatloaf who had made it big in
America but because of one song it could of been the
end of his career but he came fighting back and got to
wear he wanted to be.
3. Narrative structure
This narrative structure starts with the brit awards showing how famous
meatloaf was this engages the audience and shows them how good the music
artist joust to be then it goes into a long section of the documentary witch
shows meatloaf making the music video this shows the audience how much
hard work he actually has to put into become a big star. Then it goes into a
section that at the ymca and the betting shop witch creates conflict as they
are deciding who is going to become the Christmas number one the ymca or
meatloaf! It then moves onto they awards ceremony were meatloaf thanks
the audience and this shows his affection and how much it means to him and
then it finishes with the main song witch hasn't bean played through the hole
series
4. Camera work
Allot of cutter ways are you'd to back up the voice
of god there is also allot of hand held camera work
witch makes the audience feel like there actually
their its not planed its very kayotic and it makes the
audience very excited. They try and make the
camera work build up towards they ends this gets
the audience more and more excited
5. Mise-en-scene
Informal interviews with music industries on a green
screen the green screen is a sheet of green that you film in
front of then you put into a computer to add a background
this looks really good as it adds excitement into the video
there eyes also interviews that go on behind it and there is
one person on each time however two people have two
different opinions but they have been put on two different
sides so it looks like they are having a conversation this
shows conflict throughout the documentary
6. sound
The sound for this documentary is a voice of
god this is a narrator talking through the
hole of the series explaining what is going
on this is also backed up by cutter ways and
images the voiceover also reacts with the
interviews witch interacts the audience
without the voiceover the documentary
would not make sense.
7. editing
Filming fast short shots to make the audience
feel interested and keeping them on there
feet wanting to no whats going to go on next
. there is a really big build up to the big song
at they end witch is what the audience wants
to hear there is also allot of newspaper
articles piled up on top of each other
showing all the news about him. This shows
more history on him etc
8. Archive material
There is footage from the brit awards showing his
past experiences this shows the audience his
history and how many fans he youst to have
there are short shots and videos of his fans
screaming his name this shows he yost to be very
popular it also shows he joust to be on allot of
programmes and allot of programmes and record
labels did not want him anymore so he only had
one chance from one record label.
9. graphics
There is allot of montage editing for example there is allot of
creative pictures inside of a magazine this is showing all of the
different footage from meatloaf and the time he has been
around for there is a name in the bottom left hand corner
saying "music bizz” this tells the audience who is taking and
creating the documentary
