Digipak insides Codes and Conventions
1.
2. LITTLE MIX ALBUM COVERS
LITTLE MIX HAVE PRODUCED SEVERAL ALBUMS
WHICH HAVE CONTRASTING DIGIPAKS,
NEVERTHELESS THROUGHOUT THE MANY
DIFFERENT ALBUMS THEY HAVE PRODUCED YOU
CAN SEE A THEME ON CONTINUITY WHERE THE
FEATURES AND CHARACTERISTICS REMAIN THE
SAME OR SIMILAR.
3. GET WEIRD
Unusual characteristics for the back
page; as the tracks aren’t listed
conventionally but abnormally rebelling
against the common conventions of
back page digipaks.
Stance of the four girls challenges the
common stereotypes for females as they
appear physically strong as well as
dominant.
Barcode and record label logos are listed
within the back cover. This is a common
convention; nevertheless the back cover
also has a plain and non-exciting
background colour, it seems to be
presented a floor design or a door not a
picture of the four girls.
All girls carry different facial expression, emphasising their uniqueness and individuality
within the group. The fact that they are sat on a sofa is a common stereotype of this band as they
have used this setting before in many albums present to the release of this one.
Combination of images used; using different colours as well as images of the girls in
different locations, wearing different outfits, having different facial expressions. This is a
quality that I would like to mimic within my digipak production.
Using contrasting colours
within the title of the album, the
artists producing it and the
side bar of the front cover. All
promoting coordination and
standing out against the other
colours used within the house
theme. The use of bright
colours is also another
characteristic which I would
like to feature in my production.
4. DNA
The simplistic back house colour
of the physical CD contributes to
the simplistic style of the digipak
as a whole. It is a bright colour
and therefore grabs the attention
of audience members which will
help with the commercialising of
the product.
The bright house colour also used within the
blurb of the digipak conforms with the rest of
the album and also colour coordinates with
the front cover and CD for the album DNA.
However also the tracks are listed here which
is a common convention of digipaks,
nevertheless it is layed out in a unique and
rare style which makes it different and
thereforestand out against other products of
the same genre.
The four plain images ago is a simplistic yet effectivelayout for this CD due to it being the first release from
the artists it doesn’t have the common conventions that their products do today. As well as this because it is
their first release it is simplistic as they lack experience. Their ranging facial expressions emphasises the
diversity within their group and due to their ‘good looks’ will attract men; Goffman’s theory supports this.
Light pale pink colour used commonly
associated with females.
Different variations of the CD
depending on whether it is the
deluxe album or not. Changes in
house colour and image etc.
