2. WHAT IS AUDIENCE RESEARCH?
Audience research is the questing of your target market on their opinions, preferences,
attitudes and interests in order to gather feedback on your particular product. The
official definition is to ‘research into the make-up and habits of the audience of a
particular television or radio programme or network’
3. THE PURPOSE OF AUDIENCE RESEARCH
Target audience research is carried out so that the final design of our promotional
package can be the most appealing to the audience, and also so we can get a better
insight of the target audience themselves. By knowing what the audience want to see
the promotional package has a better chance of being operative in drawing in a
maximum amount of people. To gather this information we will use a range of
different methods, for example questionnaires, a focus group and a pitch, along with
holding informal conversations with fans of supernatural horrors. By doing this we
can maximize our chances of creating an effective promotional package as we will
know and understand what they want.
4. METHODS
• To gather our target audience research, we plan to make and distribute questionnaires
to get a greater understanding of who our audience is and what they are interested in
seeing in supernatural horrors.
• A focus groups will be conducted so the questions asked can have more elaborate
answers, along with the presentation being highly visual and therefore more interesting.
• Social media can be used to gather target audience research by posting work and
gathering feedback from others on it.
• From using these methods of research we hope to gain a greater understanding of who
our target audience are so we can therefore create a media package suited to them.
