1. Music VideoQuestionnaire result analysis
In order to create a music video that will appeal to my target audience I composed a
questionnaire to find out exactly what people wanted to see when watching a music video.
The questionnaire results will help me in making crucial decisions when it comes to song
choice, what I will put in my music video, where I will set it and what type of genre style it
will adhere to. I asked 20 people around college to fill a questionnaire out, I am aware that if
I were to make a real music video I would have to ask a lot more people than this is order to
make a video that would appeal to as many people as possible.

From this result it is clear that the majority of people who filled out my questionnaire prefer
the Pop genre, however the RnB genre is also popular, the people who filled out my
questionnaire are all aged 16-25, this is who my target audience will be so in order to appeal
to this audience I will choose a Pop/RnB song for my music video.

From this result the decision is quite split and even, so when making this decision we can
either feature the artist or not as no preference is really obvious, however the artist
probably will briefly feature in the video to make the music video appear more realistic.

From this result it is clear that a Narrative style is not popular, so we will either do a
performance style video, an abstract style video or a combination of the both in order to
appeal to our target audience.

From this result it is clear my target audience prefer a happy narrative/feeling to a music
video therefore this is what I will incorporate, I also may include some elements of humour
as this was also popular within my target audience.

3. The above results show that my target audience prefer a fast paced edit, so I shall bare this
in mind when it comes to editing my own music video.

These results are all quite close, however the 3 obviously most important to our target
audience are an attractive artist, the song and the location, all these will be greatly
considered when making our final decisions for our music video.

These results tell me that the majority of the people I asked donโt like to see music videos
heavily filled with special effects, I will use some special effects but not loads.

age range in a music video?

I will incorporate people of the 16-25 year old age range in my music video as this is what
my target audience prefer to see. I believe that this is so they can relate to the people and
what is going on in the music video.

I will use more than three different locations within my music video to add variety and
range as this is what my target audience want.
These questionnaire results have been all in all very helpful and have given me a starting
point for the development of my music video. From them I already know I am going to do a
Pop/RnB music video I will incorporate a Performance/Abstract genre style, there will be a
happy/humorous feeling/narrative to it. When editing I will used some fast paced editing
and not overly use special effects, I will set the video in more than 3 different locations and
use people of the 16-25 year old age range in the video. This questionnaire has been very
helpful, I now I feel I can create a successful music video that will appeal to my target
audience of 16-25 year olds.
