Do you have any tattoo’s and/or
piercings? If so, how many?
We asked this question as we wanted to gain the opinion of
both people with and without tattoo’s, so this was an essential
question in order for us to establish if there is a difference of
opinion between people with, and without tattoos and piercings.
This question was our most basic, as it is a closed question;
however we gained a beneficiary knowledge of the public’s
interest in tattoos/piercings.

Do you think that body modifications
affect the chances of being
employed?
We asked this question in order to establish the
public’s opinion of whether tattoo’s and piercing’s
should affect their chances of being employed.
This question made us consider whether body
modification should affect chances of employment
and raised the issue that people do get
discriminated against because of their body
modifications. We felt that this could strengthen
our documentary by enabling us to develop points
on both sides of the argument; whether tattoos’s
should, or shouldn’t affect job occupations.

Have you ever been discriminated
against because of your
tattoos/piercings?
We asked this question as we we were interested if the public
had experienced any form of discrimination; this is the main
topic of our documentary and so this question was essential in
establishing whether discrimination is evident within
tattooed/pierced peoples lives. We gained a variation of
answers which showed us that different people experience
different forms of discrimination, or none at all. This all gave us
a wider spectrum of feedback and research which improved the
content and quality of our documentary.

discriminating people with tattoo’s and

however was important in

people with tattoo’s and
piercings.

Do you know where tattoo’s and/or
piercings originated from?
We asked this question in order to establish
whether the general public had any basic
knowledge of the history of their body
modifications. We received an indepth answer
from one of our expert interviews which we
were impressed with and felt will benefit our
documentary well. This also enabled us to find
out whether people think that body
modification originated from their own country
or whether they are aware that they originated
from different cultures to their own.

Do you think that body modification
should affect the way that you
see/judge a person?
We asked this question to
develop a basic knowledge of
whether the general public are
prejudice against people with
body modifications. We aimed
to receive opinions of the
general public. We aimed to
receive all sorts of feedback
that we could then integrate
into our documentary.

What is your overall opinion on tattoo’s
and piercings?
We asked this question last. This is
because it was good to round off the
interview with an easy question where the
interviewee could give us their personal
opinion on body modification. This
question took a more broad approach
looking at the overall topic, trying to get
different peoples opinions on the matter.
We also asked this question to provoke
contrasting opinions and ideas, so that we
could represent each sides of the
argument effectively.
