It is not equal representation of "them" (minorities and women) by a university dominated by "them" (white males). We want students to think of all
people in the same way, to include all human beings in the "us" group, to judge them by the same standards free from stereotypes and generalizations.
This is an idealistic vision, I know, but without ideals, where do we begin? Some say we begin by requiring college students to take a certain number of

regards to demographics, so schools need to adjust to be able to teach to all students.
Multicultural education is probably not the best name for the kind of education that I envision, however, I think there could be better. A better name for

I found the readings this week to be very interesting; cultures and variances in perspectives, beliefs and ways of life between groups and individuals

distance between their child's school and home. Some schools reported vandalism and student frustration in regards to the change of scenery. In 2001,
busing for Charlotte students ended, but not without leaving a legacy. Since the termination of busing, student test scores continue to rise, even

Fifteen years ago bilingual education was a controversial subject in the United States because of its association with national identity, multiculturalism
and immigration, according to Robert Linquanti, the project director for English–learner evaluation and accountability support at WestEd, a San
Francisco–based research group. Today, multilingualism has grown, especially in California, which educates approximately 1.35 million
English–learners. Patricia Gandara, a research professor of education in the graduate school of education at the University of California, Los Angeles,
and a co–director of the Civil Rights Project there, said" we've seen a tremendous growth in the numbers of dual –language programs popping up in
California, which now has more than any other state. Californians have become comfortable with the fact that we have a very multicultural,
multilingual population." Transitional–bilingual education programs provide instruction in the English–learners' native languages with separate English
classes, before transitioning students into all–English instruction. With the tone changing in favor of transitional–bilingual education in California
repealing Proposition 227 could gain popularity.
According to state Senator Lara, repealing Proposition 227 could have many positive impacts on the state. California has one of the largest economies
