NASA Pros And Cons
"That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." Neil Armstrong. The words that came
out of his mouth left an impression on all mankind, and now it's like the government doesn't want
this to happen again. They cut the budget for space exploration down to a bare minimum. The
organization is scraping by with the money they have left and with the little sum they are given.
NASA has made advancements in education and technology over many years, and should be
rewarded with a higher budget for the next fiscal period. NASA is the reason for most at home,
world, and economical growth in all sorts of technology. They improve households and living for all
of America yet they don't deserve a higher budget? The government funds a lot of the companies
that NASA helped start or helped gain prospect into the business community. Satellites allow
devices the government uses to work, and the space organization is who sent them all into space to
orbit. If you are using most of the technology that NASA has created or made work then how don't
they show they deserve a higher budget? The tempur pedic bed and soft seats were never recognized
until they installed them into airlines, and NASA promoted them through commercial(Lockney).

For the government and Obama as president the belief is that they shouldn't be given more money,
and this countrywide program has no importance with the economy. But looking into the future it's
not just space, there is more out there then just black skies. The advancements and growth we have
accomplished because of exploring and monitoring this environment is exponential. The previous
ramifications against NASA and its budget should be rechecked and allowed a second chance to
persuade the government to allow America back into the space

Cause/Effect /60 Asteroid Mining and the Economy of the Future Asteroids. Commonly thought of
as a natural doomsday device, these hunks of space rock clutter the solar system by the millions.
Many give the asteroids credit for all sorts of cataclysmic events such as the extinction of the
dinosaurs. Others claim the asteroids can cause cataclysmic events such as the extinction of
humankind. Amidst these fears lie a truth: Asteroids are interplanetary gold–mines, filled to the brim
with platinum–group metals (PGMs), and some are close. As of June 2014, there are 11052 near–

The asteroid mining industry will get nowhere if they can not be sure they even own the materials
they mined. Thankfully, there is legislation waiting to be passed in the House of Representatives that
will ensure companies own the materials mined from asteroids. Eventually, asteroid mining will
become a reality. When it does, asteroid mining will have numerous effects on the global economy.
To begin with, the development of the asteroid mining industry will lead to a massive surplus of
PGMs. A near–Earth asteroid, 3554 Amun is an M–type asteroid. That means it is at least partially
known to be made of metal. At a relatively small size of 2.48 Kilometers, 3554 Amun is estimated to
contain eight trillion USD worth of platinum, six trillion USD worth of iron and nickel, and six
trillion USD worth of cobalt, for a value of around twenty two trillion USD worth of metals (Lewis
1). Even though 3554 Amun has the enough value to wipe the U.S. National debt clean, the
monetary value is not what is important. The quantity of metals is what is important. Here on earth,
PGMs are very difficult to obtain, because they are found in small deposits at a time, and must then
be processed into metals. Asteroids like 3554 Amun are saturated with PGMs, and contain more
precious metals that have ever been excavated in history, and perhaps more than could ever be
excavated from earth 's upper crust (Whitehouse 1). Mining an asteroid like 3554 Amun

Why I Want To Be AAerospace Engineer
Being an Aerospace Engineer has been a goal of mine since high–school, and the main reason I wish
to become an Engineer is because it is a challenging field that will directly impact the future of the
entire human population. The implications of Aerospace Engineering makes me want to be involved
in building spacecraft that will further the human race, create more and more efficient propulsion
systems, and create technology in the Aerospace Engineering field that can better life here on Earth.
A reason I want to be involved in the propulsion field is so that we can find an affordable means of
getting materials and equipment into orbit, whether it be low earth orbit, or high earth orbit. This
efficiency would allow us to build larger spacecraft than we can launch from here on earth. ... Show

This is one of the many reasons I am interested in propulsion, because to build the spacecraft for
galactic exploration, one would have to reduce the cost of an earth to orbit flight so that it would be
affordable in the public's eye. A recent development in the aerospace field, or rather a development
that has occurred in the past 15 years, has made me very excited to be alive, and it also has made me
want to become an Aerospace Engineer even more. The RF resonant cavity thruster, or in layman's
terms, the EmDrive, has been a topic of heated debate and study for the past few years. If the
proposed propulsion system is actually capable of creating thrust in a vacuum with no reaction mass,
then this technology could revolutionize the space industry, and make galactic exploration possible
in the foreseeable future. I am hesitant to believe anything before I firsthand witness it and conduct
research, and that is one of the reasons I would like to become an Aerospace

Personal Statement For Space Exploration
Ever since I was a little kid, I looked up at the night sky in awe, fascinated by the infinite wonder of
space. I also remember spending countless hours learning facts about space from a science book at
my grandma's house. Today, as a young adult, I look up at the stars, seeing them as destinations. As
humanity looks towards Mars, a massive engineering effort will be necessary. Both NASA and
private space companies will soon require a plethora of well–educated engineers. I hope to be one of
those engineers and am willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that I make my mark on the
progress of space exploration. To this end, I plan on obtaining a four–year degree in Mechanical
Engineering after I graduate high school this year. While in college, I plan on taking aerospace
electives, so that I can understand the basics of aerodynamics. I was considering majoring
specifically in Aerospace Engineering, but eventually chose Mechanical Engineering as this major
provides a much broader range of possible space related careers. I chose RIT both because of the
quality of its engineering program and the excellent co–op program offered. Through RIT's co–ops,
I will be able to start networking with knowledgeable professionals, while also gaining valuable
experience in the industry.
My interest in space has led me to a hobby in model rocketry over the past few years. My Papa and I
collectively own over a dozen model rockets which we semi–regularly launch in a field behind his

Laboratory Wormholes In Space
Comicbooks and science fiction novels have always written about wormholes in space. Wormholes
are an opportunity to meet aliens. This time, however, a laboratory made wormhole was created.
Scientists have discovered the possibilities of quantum leaps and timie travel. As they continue to
find out if there are huge implications on the space–time continuum, NASA and SpaceX plans to
make contact with aliens.
Those things highlighted above may sound far fetched, but NASA and SpaceX have been making
huge strides in space exploration and aerospace. According to Clapway, both companies are willing
to make contact with aliens through the use of laboratory–made wormholes.
The possibilities of wormholes excites SpaceX. The lab wormhole created in Universitat

Death Star Research Paper
Anyone who thought Star Wars couldn't become more popular is wrong. It now appears that NASA
is actually talking about it. Also, the XPRIZE Foundation recently launched a global competition for
companies to map the seafloor and explore ocean mysteries. The winner of this competition is set to
make a good amount of money as well.
NASA SAYS THEY CAN MAKE A STAR WARS DEATH STAR
What seems like a science fiction dream could soon be a reality. A NASA engineer, Brian Muirhead,
actually stated that the company could one day build their own Death Star. He states that this could
be possible because of asteroids. Muirhead says that asteroids would give them the necessary metals
to make it. Organic compounds, water, and all of the building blocks are present to eventually build
a custom Death Star.

However, this was shut down as the White House did not deem this a good idea to waste money on.
Some comments from members of the White House included that The Administration does not
support planets begin blown up. They also asked the people who made the petition why on earth
they would spend so much money on a Death Star. It sounds like a fun idea, but NASA can not
expect the White House to pitch in.
STAR WARS POPULARITY IS MIND BLOWING
It is truly amazing to think that an organization as big as NASA is even talking about Star Wars. Star
Wars has truly become a global phenomenon and I do not think people realize how widespread it is.
The upcoming movie is only helping matters, but even before then it was extremely popular. If
NASA does eventually make their own Death Star, then it can be rest assured that Star Wars will hit
even a new level of popularity. That is almost hard to imagine.

The Importance Of Space Exploration
The importance of space exploration It was the golden tip of the compass that discovered our nation,
and it was the blazing flames of the shuttle that fed our 10,000 year hunger for curiosity. Our ever
exploring society is fed off of the wonder and magnificence of our world, and our only way to
satisfy ourselves is is to prey off of discovery. Space exploration and research has been rising since
the Apollo 11 landing on the moon, and our rates of discovery to the moon have drastically
increased by more than 50% in the last 20 years. (JAMES, 2013) Our minds have built the machines
of tomorrow, and our insane imaginations take us to the depths of the milky sea of the universe. Our
discoveries can aid the process of our growing world of technology, and it can solve our problems
with global warming. As referred to image 0.0, since 2013, over 58 % of our planet has been facing
drastic changes in climate dangers, with over 60% of our planet engaged in greenhouse gas related
activities and economies. (Feb, 2014, Occupy theory) Space exploration cannot only alert us of
dangerous climates and weathers but may be able to solve the puzzles we have been engaged in for
many years. With the age of space technology, we can help humanity with impossible problems, aid
our world with an insight of disaster, and innovate us towards a peak of new discovery. We, as a
revolutionary society need only to take one step to innovation, and let our innovation help us in our

The question of how long it will take a spacecraft to reach Mars depends on where we are because
both planets are constantly orbiting the Sun. According to Space.Com, on average, it would take
around 162 days to reach Mars [3] Because the Mars and Earth is so far away, we can expect that
there are many differences among the two planets. Living on Earth is as comfortable as it is, and so
this leads us to the question as to why we would want to risk our health, and our life to go out into
space and do explorations Different people have different say in this matter, but Fox News has
generated multiple reasons why we should have human explorations on Mars. The first and most
obvious reason would be because we want more scientific knowledge and discover more about the
Mars. We were able to gain many knowledge about the Mars through robotic explorations, but
scientist and others aspiring scientist have strong enthusiasm that humans can do a more thorough
exploration on the mars. The hopes of exploring Mars and other planets will then inspire the
younger generations to become more aware and interested in the STEM field [2]. Another popular
reason why we want to have human explorations on Mars is for advancement in our knowledge and
possible expansion of humanity. It is known that Mars is the planet that is most similar to our planet
Earth, so this challenges us to explore more about Mars [2]. The first question we want to address is

The Importance Of Space Exploration
Do you believe in the existence of extraterrestrial life? Through space exploration, this question has
withdrawn huge amounts of curiosity and has been debated more than ever. As space exploration
began from the beginning of the human existence, research has been conducted leading to major
discoveries. These discoveries are the tiniest aspects of our surroundings, but seem huge to mankind
and our existence. Therefore, the race into space changed the course of history, from the first step on
the moon, space exploration has flourished, triggering immense curiosity for ongoing discoveries.
Space exploration is the ongoing discovery and exploration of celestial structures in outer space by
means of continuously evolving and growing space technology, according to Wikipedia. Being a
paltry part of the solar system we evolve in, there are numerous levels beginning with the entire
universe and funneling down to comets and possibly extraterrestrial life. Many people with little
knowledge of outer space usually believe that space is congested, just as movies portray it.
However, space is so gargantuan, objects are seen as only one ten–billionth of the brightness that our
naked eye can perceive. From Earth, and months of deep investigation, a telescope can observe a
galaxy that existed over 13 billion years ago. Little do we know, any discovery of outer space is
considered a step closer to observing our actual surroundings beyond the planet Earth. Outer space
is so infinitive scientists wonder if space exploration could ever do any justice to compare how
small we truly are. As more information is gained, of course, more questions arise. For example, is
time travel possible? Will humans ever be able to travel to other planets at a reasonable cost? With
questions of every type, not all are capable of being answered at the moment, but hopefully through
hours of research and studies someday all questions will be solved. With the sun able to produce
energy up to a solid 3 to 5 billion more years, this gives us plenty of time to keep adapting to our
changing environment.
When the ISS was launched in 1998, international research and discoveries began. Observations
revealed that radiation from the sun that reaches the earth

Arguments Against Manned Space Research
Does the universe go on forever? What happens if you go into a black hole? Those are some of the
most pressing questions that could never be answered if government funding for man space flight is
cut off. NASA recently ended its manned space flight program, dishing the job off to private space
exploration companies.(Smith) In order to continue on the successful path to Mars and beyond, the
government needs to keep funding man space flight for the important research on topics such as
medicine and benefits to private space companies that come with it.

countries . On the ISS, many types of research that couldn't be accomplished on earth is done. For ...

"We spend billions on space flights that could have been spent feeding the poor, healing the sick,
and housing the homeless... [resolving] incurable diseases, crime, poverty, pollution, climate change,
unemployment, and war." (Evans) Yes, it is very costly, but just like many of the other things, the
money spent on it could be making world–changing discoveries, and isn't that worth it? Manned
space flight is also fairly dangerous, such as when "an unmanned rocket, owned by Orbital Sciences
Corp. and headed to the International Space Station, failed on takeoff. Three days later,
SpaceShipTwo, a rocket flown by Virgin Galactic, broke up over the Mojave Desert, killing its
pilot." (Accidents Highlight Limits of Human Space Travel) In perspective, we are still new to
human space flight, and there are bound to be risks at first, and a considerably small amount of
damage has been done considering how much has been done. There are many things, if lead astray
could create dangerous situations, but we still continue with many of them.
With the research about bacteria among other topics done on the ISS, and the benefits to the
development of private space companies, continuing the government funding of manned space flight
is beneficial more than it is harmfull. Humans always are hunting to learn more about everything,
and in order to carry on successfully with that, manned space flight

Future President: Should The Government Fund NASA
Hi, future President. There are many ways that America is going to remain great and things that you
will do will help ensure that we become even greater than we already are. One way I believe that we
can make America even greater is through extensive investment in our space industry, both in the
public sector and in the private sector, including government contracts with companies like SpaceX
and Boeing. I believe that we should raise the NASA budget while also working with private
companies to expedite our mission to Mars. Ensuring that NASA has the funding they need to get us
to Mars and increase our presence in space is of great importance. Funding NASA does so many
good things for us and people everywhere can appreciate how much it helps us. ... Show more

There are also many tangible benefits. Investment in space exploration results in new technologies
that help people everyday, such as medical technologies. This can even include relatively mundane
things, like cordless power drills, a by–product of the Apollo missions. Every dollar invested in
NASA has yielded an economic return of $12. Not only does investment in space help people in our
daily lives, but it also helps our national defense. Having a commanding presence in space helps
keep us safe from adversaries through the use of satellites and other technological advancements.
This has the nice effect of bolstering our military with unrivaled technological achievement, so it
can also be seen as investment in our military, one of your campaign promises. I know if anyone can

Thirty Meter Telescope Controversy
Research and observation in astronomy has discovered exciting details about our place in the
Universe. However, later discoveries have been made because of the innovation of telescope designs
which have astronomers focusing their ideas on more challenging questions and bigger ideas. To
continue this curiosity, project specialists are continuing to build the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT)
that seems to be the next big step in the astronomical community.
The Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) is being worked on to become the most advance and powerful
optical telescope on Earth by a team of scientists, engineers and specialists. After long controversy,
its planned location will be in Mauna Kea, Hawaii. The TMT is a reflecting telescope because it
uses a mirrors over lenses. "TMT, with its 30–meter (nearly 100 foot) diameter mirror, will have
nine times the light gathering power of today's best telescopes (Gateway, 2010). TMT's smaller
parts, which are less than two meters across, can be created, handled and replaced a whole lot easier.
The telescope will be designed to observe from near–ultraviolet to mid–infrared, in addition to
having an adaptive optics system. That system will help fix any image blur ... Show more content on

Abstract
Funding by the government allows selected human beings to experience a world beyond the
atmosphere of earth. Some of mans greatest accomplishments have occurred in space, such as the
moon landing. Space travel not only provides the delightful experience, but it also helps us to better
our technology as the year's progress. Although these are positive aspects of space travel, there are
negative aspects that strongly linger, making space travel not so promising. As you may know,
funding for space travel has cost the people in our society a great deal of money. The government
has managed to put the U.S. in debt causing an economic domino effect on other sectors of the ...

The problem is the U.S. doesn't have billions of dollars to throw around, so most of the money used
for space travel is budgeted into the U.S. deficit. This deficit affects all U.S. citizens through taxes,
interest rates, consumption, and investment. Society as a whole is affected tremendously
economically. Now when a natural disaster occurs all the money is tied up in the deficit, and federal
agencies battle over where the disaster relief money should come from. While all this bickering is
taking place within the government, millions of people could be in grave danger. Just a couple of
months ago America witnessed an event similar to this one involving Hurricane Katrina.
Government agencies took too long to aid the relief and hundreds of people died. Government has
been known for centuries to be very slow in decision making. If the Government allocated money
more efficiently then some of the nations financial problems could be solved. As with any
advancement of technology, the moon landing had both positive and negative aspects associated
with it. On the positive side, the moon landing paved the way for future space exploration. The trip
was a huge success for the forward movement of mankind. The capabilities of the lunar module and
other devices allowed scientists to determine the best designs and techniques for space travel.

A New Space Age
A new space age is about to set in with its leaders being private firms. The growing appeal of outer
space as a tourist destination, as well as a research destination, has brought multiple problems to
light in the international community. One of the first questions to be answered is how to manage
space transportation tourism. Passengers could hypothetically cause damage to the spacecraft or vice
versa, bringing up the issue of liability as the private sector is not addressed in the Liability
convention. Seeing as the Treaties of the UN are difficult to interpret, it is unclear if private firms
are in themselves a loophole to the Outer Space Treaty which protects all celestial bodies and outer
space from being laid claim to. This also shines a light on the topic of resource extraction, seeing as
it is unknown if this is considered "national appropriation" by the OST, as many private firms have
detailed plans to use what space has to offer. This includes asteroid mining, the use of lunar water–
both of which could possibly contain radiation, and lastly the installation of solar panel, which could
pose a threat to the oil industry on Earth. Public to private sector relations are currently quite
prosperous wherever they are being introduced, however there is always the daunting possibility that
governments will start to become too reliant on corporations in the aerospace sector, a gateway for
corruption. Funding is a massive topic to conquer regarding the private sector.

Title: Space Travel
General purpose: To inform
Specific purpose: To inform audience members on both modern and forthcoming capabilities of
space travel.
Thesis Statement: The current space travel capabilities do not allow for travel into interstellar space
and beyond. With the creation of laser beamed nanochips travelling at 100 million miles per hour,
we could reach the nearest star, Alpha Centauri in 20 years, gaining pictures and data from some
place far, far away.
Introduction:
Currently, it is very difficult to send humans and spacecraft anywhere in space, let alone out of our
own solar system. The cost and risk involved in sending people and objects into space have not
stopped humans from achieving impressive missions over the past 70 years. We have sent humans
248,655 miles deep into space and space craft 11.7 billion miles from the Earth. Although we are
making strides in furthering our space exploration, there are still steps being taken to travel further
than ever imaginable. With new and improving technology, scientists and others, are trying to find
ways to make it into interstellar space and beyond. Stephan Hawking and a Russian billionaire
unveiled their plan for an interstellar nanochip that could make it to Alpha Centauri in 20 years. This
may seem very exciting, but there are a few road bumps in the way to get the technology where it

Space Exploration Is A Waste Of Money
Have you ever wondered about the possibilities of finding a planet like Earth which can sustain life?
Through the continuation of space exploration, we can continue to look for earth–like planets and
learn much more about the mysteries of the universe. Space programs and exploration have helped
mankind to develop useful knowledge in different fields such as digital technology and medicine.
According to Mindy Townsend, a writer for the social networking website Care2, we have to give
credit to NASA for the development of the cell phone camera, which was developed at the Jet
Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), one of NASA's research centers. (par. 2). Likewise, Townsend also
gives credit to NASA for the technology used in the development of CAT scanners, microscopy, and
radiography (par. 6). However, many people still argue that space exploration is a waste of money
because they claim that money can be spent on other priorities such as education and health care.
Even though space exploration is expensive, the United States government should continue funding
space exploration to promote innovation in technology, find extraterrestrial natural resources in the
near future, and protect planet earth from outer space threats like space debris and excessive solar
radiation.
Through innovation in technology, the space exploration programs of the United States have
achieved several benefits for today's society. Many studies have shown that space programs have

The topic is I choose for my Physics Research Project is rockets. The topic question is how are
rockets made and what do they do? There are many reasons why I choose this topic but one of the
main reasons is because of the fact that I live in Houston. This city is a historical landmark for the
commanding of rockets and satellites. And I just love the great power that the rocket contains, this is
where my second reason comes. I am fascinated by the fact that the rockets contains enough power
to push through gravity and break through the atmosphere. The topic is how rockets are made. And
many think of a rockets that launches into space, but it can also be a type of engine. The rocket
usually has a fuel storage in it shaped like a cylinder with one end open. The reason is for one side
to be open is when is ignited it fires with lots of thrust. This helps the rocket excel to a higher

Sir Issac Newton discovered that an object can only be accelerated if a force is applied to it. And this
lead to the equation Force= Mass X Acceleration. Newton also described another part of rockets
science which he also was able to explain. He said that if an object or (A) applies force to another
object or (B), then object (B) automatically applies the same force to object (A). This was a great
discovery by Newton which helped piece the puzzles in flying a rocket. How this is related to
rockets? This was explained by newton from his third law that states: For every action, there is an
equal and opposite reaction. This means that for every interaction, there is a pair of forces acting on
the two interacting objects. So the force of the first object is the same as the force of the second

The Importance Of Commercial Space Exploration
Since the mid–twentieth century, people have had a desire to explore different aspects of space. The
space race between the United States of America and Russia was the height of space exploration.
Now with modern interest in the colonization of Mars, the desire to explore space has, again,
increased with 20 licensed launches in America in the 2017 calendar year according to the Federal
Aviation Administration ("Commercial Space Data"). Different countries still express interest in
exploring space, but commercial space exploration has become popular since the 2000's. American
organizations have to adhere to regulations of the FAA, the government organization that provides
licenses and permits to enter into space. Many current pieces of legislation, which have solved
multiple previous issues, can still be further developed to improve commercial space exploration in
the future as Mars colonization becomes a more tangible goal. Robert Walker, a former member of
the United States House of Representatives, declared that many of the current space laws "make it
easier for government to function in space" (q.t.d "Space Law"), but not companies that could
revolutionize commercial space travel. Current American laws on regulations, protection for
companies, and what people can do in space need to be altered in order for commercial space
companies to reach Mars. To engage in space exploration, commercial companies must receive a
license from the FAA, which is both an inconsistent

Positive Consequences Of Space Exploration
This peer–reviewed journal article talks about the positive consequences of developments in future
space exploration in scientific perspective. The author states the development of future space
exploration by using resources from the solar system will produce varies beneficial results, such as
space tourism, asteroid resources, and so on. The main beneficiary among all the others is science.
Supported by space resources, the growth of space economy can provide the cost of building
scientific instruments, outposts, and infrastructures in space. Improvement in scientific technology
leads to further discoveries and knowledge. Which shows the symbiotic relationship existed between
science and space resources.
This article is useful to my research because of the analysis of the relationship between each step in
space exploration and the possible benefits in the science field. Although this article is shorter than
most of other resources, it clearly explains the whole processes of space exploration as a benign
cycle, space resources produce economy, economy provides technologies, technologies creates
opportunities to future exploration, future exploration leads to more discoveries and resources, and
then back to increase in economy. It is a unique perspective of explaining the reason why we need to
explore outer space and mining resources, each step produces considerable benefits.

Impact Of Space On The Space Industry
'Space Industry' is a broad term. It includes a huge variety of different sectors and industries. It is not
easy to track down an accurate definition of its boundaries. Estimation of the global value of the
industry present significant discrepancies. It can be agreed, however, that the Space industry
generates important revenues: SIA estimates USD 322.7 billion of global revenues for the industry
in 2014, while the Space Foundation estimates USD 330 billion.
The space economy has presented a constant and sustained growth over the last 40 years. As we can
observe in Figure 1 in the last 40 years space sector revenue's has grown significantly faster than the
global GDP. Moreover, the development of many modern widespread technologies have ... Show

In broad terms, the literature distinguishes between three different sectors: scientific, military, and
commercial.
The scientific sector aims to develop new academic and technological knowledge, providing other
sectors the capabilities needed for their activities. Universities and research institutes are important
scientific and technological actors. The military sector, on the other hand, provides the conditions
required to secure national assets. Last but not least, the commercial sector aims to create richness
and business growth out of the Space industry. It is of fundamental importance for the sustainability
of the Space sector as a whole, as, differently from the scientific and military, is the only one
specifically designed to be profitable.
As the final objective is to provide an overview for the development of a sustainable Space strategy
in South Australia, the commercial sector will be the crucial unit of analysis of the paper, but not the
only one, as each sector is closely linked with the others, and has no chance to survive in isolation.
SPACE INDUSTRY'S VALUE CHAIN
When asked about space activities, most people tend to think about big government and public
funded projects such as the International Space Station (ISS), the Voyager program, which is now
exploring the boundaries of our solar system, or the Mars Rover, which is studying Mars' surface.
This is understandable, as such

The Rocket Boys Research Paper
Sonny and the rest of the Rocket Boys had to follow through with many steps in order to complete
their process of making rocks. With little knowledge, the rocket boys had to believe in themselves
that they could succeed in building rockets. There were many steps the Rocket Boys had to go
through like things such as, finding the right materials to use, learn more math and science
equations, and most importantly, they had to learn how to build the rockets. With their knowledge
and support from the community around them, the Rocket Boys had enough confidence to create
many different rockets. The Rocket Boys had to follow their dreams of building rockets despite of

The first rocket the boys launched was off of Elsie's fence. The rocket blew up the fence and did not
fly at all. But, they learned from their mistakes and kept trying. Many of the problems the Rocket
Boys ran into while launching rockets were small and harmless. However, they ran into one major
problem. There ended up being a forest fire in the county next to Coalwood, and the boys were
blamed for the starting of that fire. But with Sonny's knowledge with the harder math and science
equations, he realized it wasn't their rocket that started that fire. After Sonny figured that out, they
could continue on and pursue their dreams of going to college, winning the science fair, and even
doing something in their lives other than coal mining. The principal sent Sonny to the National
Science Fair in Indianapolis, Indiana. All the hard work and dedication the boys put into rocket
building had finally been paid off. Sonny and the Rocket Boys won first place at the science fair.
When Sonny returned home, they launched their last rocket. The whole town was practically by
their side for this launching. With launching the final rocket, Auk XXXI, the rocket was six and a
half feet long and two and a quarter inches in diameter. The rocket reached a height of 31,000 feet.

Essay on The Landlords of the Oceans
The Landlords of the Oceans
Have you ever thought about the landlords of the oceans? There is a saying: "Big fish eats the
smaller ones." The most powerful and deadly animals who taste the freedom of the sea world are
whales. So many kinds of whales exist. One of the most interesting kinds is the bottle–nosed whale.
It is no wonder why they are given this name. Their bulbous forehead and elongated snout give them
a unique character. Besides these unique physical characteristics, they have other special qualities as
well including their rarity and their enormous size. Northern species and southern species are the
two types of bottle–nosed whales that are categorized by the difference in their size, living habitats
and mating seasons. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Northern species are gray with a lighter underside and a pale band around the neck. The color of
southern species varies more; they have blue–black, gray, brown or yellow bodies and light–colored
snouts and undersides. However, they share a common treat, males have two conical teeth in the
lower jaw and females have no teeth. In short, the size, color and the shape of bottle–nosed whales
vary according to where they are found.
The second quality is their living habitats. Both of the species usually inhabit cold waters deeper
than 3000ft. They are most often observed in deep trenches or canyons in the sea floor. Northern
bottle–nosed whales live in the North Atlantic. Significant populations are found in a vast undersea
canyon near Sable Island, Nova Scotia, and north and west of Scotland near the Shetland Islands,
the Orkney Islands, and the Outer Hebrides Islands. Southern bottle–nosed whales range throughout
the Southern Hemisphere from Antarctica north to the equator. In winter, they are sighted
occasionally off the coasts of the Hawaiian Islands and Japan, as well as in the Pacific and Indian
oceans. The third quality is their mating. Both southern and northern species' mating takes place
during the spring. After a gestational period of about 11 months, female bottle–nosed whales deliver
a single baby and then nurse it for nearly a year. They give birth every two or three years. The

Is Major Exploration Worth The Risk Of Space Exploration
Is Major Exploration Worth the Risk Major exploration shouldn't be supported because of all the

Missions to space pose a great risk on astronauts. Space exploration risks human life. Staying in a

Poetic Analysis Of Spaceship By Kesha
Poetic Analysis of Spaceship by Kesha In the song spaceship by Kesha, the title suggests a song
about outer space and aliens. It could be about traveling in a spaceship or aliens coming to Earth in a
spaceship. Though the upbeat, country vibe of the song it is revealed that spaceships are a metaphor
for life after death. Throughout the song Kesha sings about her excitement that the spaceship
coming and saving her from the stresses of life on Earth, and about how death only brings humanity
to the next great adventure. In Kesha's spaceship the main theme is that life can be difficult and
filled with hate and negativity, but there is a place reached after death and in ones dreams that is full
of love and joy.
The second verse helps to prove the theme by showing the negative feelings about life on Earth, and
also beginning the reveal the yearning for life after death. She sings, " I knew from the start I don't
belong in these parts / there's too much hate, there's too much hurt for this heart / Lord knows this
planet feels like a hopeless place" (Kesha 15–17). In this quote Kesha shows her feelings on the
difficulties of life on Earth, which can give deeper insight as to why she is so excited to be leaving
the planet. She shows her desire to escape earth when she says, " Thank God I'm going back home
to outer space" (Kesha 18). This adds to the overarching theme because she calls outer space her
home which insinuates that the spaceship is comfortable and familiar. Kesha also mentions God
which could be a sign ` that outer space holds a spiritual significance beyond natural forces. The
second verse shows the struggles of life on Earth and Kesha's yearning visit the spiritual place she
envisions as outer space.
The refrain emphasizes Kesha's deep faith in the spaceships, coming to save he from earthly
difficulties. She first sings, " I'm waiting for my spaceship to come back to me / ... / I don't really
care if you believe it's coming back for me yeah" (Kesha 19–21). This quote shows that she truly
believes in her spaceship returning to her, which implies that she has previously had contact with it.
It also emphasizes that it doesn't matter if people believe her to be crazy, Kesha is going to continue

The Issue Of Interstellar Travel
Since I was young, I've always had an interest in space, the planets, our solar system, and the
galaxies. Looking up at the night sky, it made me feel small compared to the universe. I imagined
one day that there would be a time when humans would be able to travel through space to different
galaxies. At the time it was a far–fetched idea, but now the idea of interstellar travel is all the rage
these days. When we talk about interstellar travel, we have to consider many issues and problems
that would arise with interstellar travel. A few issues that arise are about us human beings first. How
does our body react in space? What problems could arise with our systems in space? Can we live
long enough to travel through space for long distance travel? That's where suspended animation
comes in. Another issue is about how advanced we are in our civilization to actually be able to travel
through space. In other words, the Kardashev scale. Even though scientists and researchers have
found different planets that could hold life, we have yet to build the perfect spaceship that could
uphold all these issues when traveling through space at the speed of light.
Interstellar travel is a pretty debated topic that has both sides to a coin. Many researchers say it is
possible in a few centuries, but do we really have the time and effort to accomplish this? Sten
Odenwald is an astronomer and critic of interstellar travel. In one of his articles The Dismal Future
of Interstellar Travel, he makes

Persuasive Essay: The Benefits Of 3D Printing
It's no secret that constructing things in space takes quite a bit of time. The International Space
Station is around the size of a football field, but it first began construction in 1998. That's almost 20
years of space missions to build that thing. As impressive as our technology is, we still have to strap
all these things to rockets and fire them up there. It costs around $1,000 per pound to send
something into space, so if you want to bring some ramen with to space, it's really going to costs
you. What really seems to be changing the game is 3D printing. How much easier would it be to
print things in space rather than to bring it with you? A lot easier. Now apply that to bases on the
moon and even Mars.

If NASA and other agencies wanted to build a base on the moon, they're going to have to use the
resources available to them on the moon to get the operation up and running. If they were to
physically ship all of the pieces to the moon from Earth, the cost would probably bankrupt the

Why Fund NASA
NASA is trying to fund asteroid studies. The people in NASA believe it could do a lot of good. They
want to use the asteroids to our advantage. However, some people are unsure about whether NASA
should or not. I believe NASA should fund these studies because of Earth's safety, mining asteroids,
and price.
Asteroids left unchecked can be very dangerous to Earth. According to the Crater Data Chart, some
craters have a diameter of "300 km". That would cause so much destruction if it landed in a place
where people live! Also, in the Tunguska Meteor Impact, it says some asteroids (like Tunguska)
release "energy equivalent to about 185 Hiroshima bombs". One Hiroshima bomb was absolutely
catastrophic. Imagine how much damage one hundred and eighty five of those bombs could do!
Asteroids can have things that would benefit the Earth. Mining Asteroids Planetary Resources states
that "one asteroid may contain more platinum than mined in entire history." If we could mine these
asteroids we could get many precious minerals. Along with minerals, the Mining Asteroids ... Show

2013 Budget Puts Brake On Planet Probes, NASA has a "17.7 billion" budget out of the total "3.7

This shows that the asteroid studies and other studies NASA is doing really do not cost that much.
NASA should fund their asteroid studies, and people should support it. It would benefit the Earth
greatly, for reasons I've stated and reasons I have not. People would be able to learn more about the
vast space around us. They would also learn more about asteroids in general. Along with this
knowledge, it would benefit us by making Earth safer, allowing us to mine and use asteroids, and by

McCurdy pointed out that there have been several different mechanisms established to analyze space

Landing On The Moon Pros And Cons
Technology has been useful to mankind in the past through our motivation to move forward. For
example, the Apollo program was the greatest peacetime mobilization in the United States. NASA

with about 20,000 companies and organizations. The program was not only a victory for the West
from the Cold War, it increased our curiosity of what technology is capable of. The astronauts went
to the moon because it was a big thing to do. However, landing on the moon would not have
happened if it were not for the long series of technological triumphs like the assembly line and the

The Space Of Space : Space Exploration Look Easy, But It...
Movies like Star Trek may make space exploration look easy, but it is no walk in the park. Space
projects take years of planning and development. Part of the reason why it takes such an extensive
period of time is because scientists have to come up with a spacecraft capable of sustaining human
life, develop spacesuits that can support human life, and gather nutritious food and medicine for the
journey. Obviously, scientists must consider a multitude of variables before sending someone into
space.
First, scientists must consider the dreaded space sickness. Space sickness occurs when the brain gets
jumbled by the lack of gravity; this is an issue astronauts face in the first couple of days (Bond 35).
Car sickness is very similar to space sickness (Bond 35). For example, nausea is a mutual symptom
of both diseases (Bond 35). However, nausea can be a gigantic problem in space because astronauts
have no way of disposing of vomit and have to carry vomit bags (Bond 35). Other symptoms are
dizziness, headache, tiredness, loss of appetite, and chills (Bond 35). The first report came from
Gherman Titov (Bond 35). Titov was a soviet astronaut. Titov reported that he was suffering from
nausea during his 24–hour flight (Bond 35). The next report came from astronauts Boris Yegorov
and Konstantin Feoktistov (Bond 35). Both astronauts "reported feeling upside down" (Bond 35).
Additionally, they experienced dizzy spells when they moved their heads (Bond 35). Furthermore,

Resolving Conflicts in Space Resource Commercial Exploration and Utilization with The Outer

Abstract
As technology progresses, so too does humanity's reach. November of 2015 saw a new Act signed
into law that promotes commercial activity in space. The activities of acquisition and use of asteroid
and space resources must be in compliance with the Outer Space Treaty. This paper reviews the new
Act and identifies three areas where the Act may be in conflict with the Treaty: threatening scientific

citizens (U.S. Commercial Space Launch Competitiveness Act, 2015).
The Act is a boon to Planetary Resources, which is one of only two companies known to be actively
developing technologies to mine near–Earth asteroids for their water, hydrocarbons, and precious
metals. Planetary Resources (n.d) states on its website that it intends to deliver these resources back
to Earth. However, Deep Space Industries, Inc., (2016) the other asteroid mining company,
alternatively proposes to keep the resources in situ to spur human expansion into the solar system.
The mining technologies and resources left in situ will likely encourage other space companies like
SpaceX to strengthen their pursuit of exploration or colonization missions to Mars.
While these companies, buoyed now by additional support from the U.S. federal government,
enthusiastically pursue a space–age "gold rush", little concern appears to be given to their

colloquially referred to as the Outer Space Treaty. There are multiple points of potential conflict

Space Technology : The Advancement Of Space Travel To Mars
Before the twentieth century, there was little opportunity that existed to explore Mars, except with
astronomical observations and scientific knowledge. Within the last couple decades, however,
advancements to technology have brought forth many new significant achievements in space
exploration, making it possible to possibly send people to Mars. The advancement of space
technology and space medicine made it a reality for humans to go to Mars. Space travel however
comes with some challenges, these include bone and muscle loss due to the constant exposure to
zero gravity, some cell damage from the cosmic radiation, and psychological and sociological issues
from the constant isolation. A month long road trip across the United States with five other people in
a car would be a little cramped and would most likely lead to everyone getting on each other's
nerves, but on the bright side, stops can be made for breaks, food, stretching, or even site seeing. On
a 2–3 year trip to Mars however, there are no stops, or breaks for food, or stretching. One cannot
open the window for some sort of fresh air or to relax. The trip to Mars will be one that will be very
difficult to make, requiring certain attributes to overcome the problems that occur. Of all problems
that one may experience in route to Mars and back, effects on the astronaut's mind may be the most
considerable risk factor of them all. A round trip to Mars would take about 2–3 years. The crew will

NASA Pros And Cons

  • 1. NASA Pros And Cons "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." Neil Armstrong. The words that came out of his mouth left an impression on all mankind, and now it's like the government doesn't want this to happen again. They cut the budget for space exploration down to a bare minimum. The organization is scraping by with the money they have left and with the little sum they are given. NASA has made advancements in education and technology over many years, and should be rewarded with a higher budget for the next fiscal period. NASA is the reason for most at home, world, and economical growth in all sorts of technology. They improve households and living for all of America yet they don't deserve a higher budget? The government funds a lot of the companies that NASA helped start or helped gain prospect into the business community. Satellites allow devices the government uses to work, and the space organization is who sent them all into space to orbit. If you are using most of the technology that NASA has created or made work then how don't they show they deserve a higher budget? The tempur pedic bed and soft seats were never recognized until they installed them into airlines, and NASA promoted them through commercial(Lockney). Anti–Icing Systems, Fire Fighter Gear, Solar Energy, Water ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the government and Obama as president the belief is that they shouldn't be given more money, and this countrywide program has no importance with the economy. But looking into the future it's not just space, there is more out there then just black skies. The advancements and growth we have accomplished because of exploring and monitoring this environment is exponential. The previous ramifications against NASA and its budget should be rechecked and allowed a second chance to persuade the government to allow America back into the space ... • 3. Asteroid Mining And The Economy Of The Future FCAs Evan Ashba Conclusion /20 11/18/14 Works Cited/Citations /20 5th Hour Dev. of Cause/Effect /60 Asteroid Mining and the Economy of the Future Asteroids. Commonly thought of as a natural doomsday device, these hunks of space rock clutter the solar system by the millions. Many give the asteroids credit for all sorts of cataclysmic events such as the extinction of the dinosaurs. Others claim the asteroids can cause cataclysmic events such as the extinction of humankind. Amidst these fears lie a truth: Asteroids are interplanetary gold–mines, filled to the brim with platinum–group metals (PGMs), and some are close. As of June 2014, there are 11052 near– Earth Asteroids known (Chamberlin 1); All just waiting for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The asteroid mining industry will get nowhere if they can not be sure they even own the materials they mined. Thankfully, there is legislation waiting to be passed in the House of Representatives that will ensure companies own the materials mined from asteroids. Eventually, asteroid mining will become a reality. When it does, asteroid mining will have numerous effects on the global economy. To begin with, the development of the asteroid mining industry will lead to a massive surplus of PGMs. A near–Earth asteroid, 3554 Amun is an M–type asteroid. That means it is at least partially known to be made of metal. At a relatively small size of 2.48 Kilometers, 3554 Amun is estimated to contain eight trillion USD worth of platinum, six trillion USD worth of iron and nickel, and six trillion USD worth of cobalt, for a value of around twenty two trillion USD worth of metals (Lewis 1). Even though 3554 Amun has the enough value to wipe the U.S. National debt clean, the monetary value is not what is important. The quantity of metals is what is important. Here on earth, PGMs are very difficult to obtain, because they are found in small deposits at a time, and must then be processed into metals. Asteroids like 3554 Amun are saturated with PGMs, and contain more precious metals that have ever been excavated in history, and perhaps more than could ever be excavated from earth 's upper crust (Whitehouse 1). • 5. Why I Want To Be AAerospace Engineer Being an Aerospace Engineer has been a goal of mine since high–school, and the main reason I wish to become an Engineer is because it is a challenging field that will directly impact the future of the entire human population. The implications of Aerospace Engineering makes me want to be involved in building spacecraft that will further the human race, create more and more efficient propulsion systems, and create technology in the Aerospace Engineering field that can better life here on Earth. A reason I want to be involved in the propulsion field is so that we can find an affordable means of getting materials and equipment into orbit, whether it be low earth orbit, or high earth orbit. This efficiency would allow us to build larger spacecraft than we can launch from here on earth. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is one of the many reasons I am interested in propulsion, because to build the spacecraft for galactic exploration, one would have to reduce the cost of an earth to orbit flight so that it would be affordable in the public's eye. A recent development in the aerospace field, or rather a development that has occurred in the past 15 years, has made me very excited to be alive, and it also has made me want to become an Aerospace Engineer even more. The RF resonant cavity thruster, or in layman's terms, the EmDrive, has been a topic of heated debate and study for the past few years. If the proposed propulsion system is actually capable of creating thrust in a vacuum with no reaction mass, then this technology could revolutionize the space industry, and make galactic exploration possible in the foreseeable future. I am hesitant to believe anything before I firsthand witness it and conduct research, and that is one of the reasons I would like to become an Aerospace ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Personal Statement For Space Exploration Ever since I was a little kid, I looked up at the night sky in awe, fascinated by the infinite wonder of space. I also remember spending countless hours learning facts about space from a science book at my grandma's house. Today, as a young adult, I look up at the stars, seeing them as destinations. As humanity looks towards Mars, a massive engineering effort will be necessary. Both NASA and private space companies will soon require a plethora of well–educated engineers. I hope to be one of those engineers and am willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that I make my mark on the progress of space exploration. To this end, I plan on obtaining a four–year degree in Mechanical Engineering after I graduate high school this year. While in college, I plan on taking aerospace electives, so that I can understand the basics of aerodynamics. I was considering majoring specifically in Aerospace Engineering, but eventually chose Mechanical Engineering as this major provides a much broader range of possible space related careers. I chose RIT both because of the quality of its engineering program and the excellent co–op program offered. Through RIT's co–ops, I will be able to start networking with knowledgeable professionals, while also gaining valuable experience in the industry. My interest in space has led me to a hobby in model rocketry over the past few years. My Papa and I collectively own over a dozen model rockets which we semi–regularly launch in a field behind his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This time, however, a laboratory made wormhole was created. Scientists have discovered the possibilities of quantum leaps and timie travel. As they continue to find out if there are huge implications on the space–time continuum, NASA and SpaceX plans to make contact with aliens. Those things highlighted above may sound far fetched, but NASA and SpaceX have been making huge strides in space exploration and aerospace. According to Clapway, both companies are willing to make contact with aliens through the use of laboratory–made wormholes. The possibilities of wormholes excites SpaceX. • 11. Death Star Research Paper Anyone who thought Star Wars couldn't become more popular is wrong. It now appears that NASA is actually talking about it. Also, the XPRIZE Foundation recently launched a global competition for companies to map the seafloor and explore ocean mysteries. The winner of this competition is set to make a good amount of money as well. NASA SAYS THEY CAN MAKE A STAR WARS DEATH STAR What seems like a science fiction dream could soon be a reality. A NASA engineer, Brian Muirhead, actually stated that the company could one day build their own Death Star. He states that this could be possible because of asteroids. Muirhead says that asteroids would give them the necessary metals to make it. Organic compounds, water, and all of the building blocks are present to eventually build a custom Death Star. A PETITION FOR NASA FUNDING A STAR WARS DEATH STAR ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, this was shut down as the White House did not deem this a good idea to waste money on. Some comments from members of the White House included that The Administration does not support planets begin blown up. They also asked the people who made the petition why on earth they would spend so much money on a Death Star. It sounds like a fun idea, but NASA can not expect the White House to pitch in. STAR WARS POPULARITY IS MIND BLOWING It is truly amazing to think that an organization as big as NASA is even talking about Star Wars. Star Wars has truly become a global phenomenon and I do not think people realize how widespread it is. The upcoming movie is only helping matters, but even before then it was extremely popular. If NASA does eventually make their own Death Star, then it can be rest assured that Star Wars will hit even a new level of popularity. That is almost hard to imagine. XPRIZE WANTS OCEAN MYSTERIES ... • 13. The Importance Of Space Exploration The importance of space exploration It was the golden tip of the compass that discovered our nation, and it was the blazing flames of the shuttle that fed our 10,000 year hunger for curiosity. Our ever exploring society is fed off of the wonder and magnificence of our world, and our only way to satisfy ourselves is is to prey off of discovery. Space exploration and research has been rising since the Apollo 11 landing on the moon, and our rates of discovery to the moon have drastically increased by more than 50% in the last 20 years. (JAMES, 2013) Our minds have built the machines of tomorrow, and our insane imaginations take us to the depths of the milky sea of the universe. Our discoveries can aid the process of our growing world of technology, and it can solve our problems with global warming. As referred to image 0.0, since 2013, over 58 % of our planet has been facing drastic changes in climate dangers, with over 60% of our planet engaged in greenhouse gas related activities and economies. (Feb, 2014, Occupy theory) Space exploration cannot only alert us of dangerous climates and weathers but may be able to solve the puzzles we have been engaged in for many years. With the age of space technology, we can help humanity with impossible problems, aid our world with an insight of disaster, and innovate us towards a peak of new discovery. Unlike other kids her age, she would look up YouTube videos by Neil DeGrasse Tyson and Bill Nye and learn about the different planets. She was able to recognize different planets and know a lot about them compare to her peers. Her elementary school teachers were always impressed by her knowledge and her passion to learn about space. The question of how long it will take a spacecraft to reach Mars depends on where we are because both planets are constantly orbiting the Sun. According to Space.Com, on average, it would take around 162 days to reach Mars [3] Because the Mars and Earth is so far away, we can expect that there are many differences among the two planets. Living on Earth is as comfortable as it is, and so this leads us to the question as to why we would want to risk our health, and our life to go out into space and do explorations Different people have different say in this matter, but Fox News has generated multiple reasons why we should have human explorations on Mars. The first and most obvious reason would be because we want more scientific knowledge and discover more about the Mars. We were able to gain many knowledge about the Mars through robotic explorations, but scientist and others aspiring scientist have strong enthusiasm that humans can do a more thorough exploration on the mars. The hopes of exploring Mars and other planets will then inspire the younger generations to become more aware and interested in the STEM field [2]. Another popular reason why we want to have human explorations on Mars is for advancement in our knowledge and possible expansion of humanity. It is known that Mars is the planet that is most similar to our planet Earth, so this challenges us to explore more about Mars [2]. The first question we want to address is what will ... • 17. The Importance Of Space Exploration Do you believe in the existence of extraterrestrial life? Through space exploration, this question has withdrawn huge amounts of curiosity and has been debated more than ever. As space exploration began from the beginning of the human existence, research has been conducted leading to major discoveries. These discoveries are the tiniest aspects of our surroundings, but seem huge to mankind and our existence. Therefore, the race into space changed the course of history, from the first step on the moon, space exploration has flourished, triggering immense curiosity for ongoing discoveries. Space exploration is the ongoing discovery and exploration of celestial structures in outer space by means of continuously evolving and growing space technology, according to Wikipedia. Being a paltry part of the solar system we evolve in, there are numerous levels beginning with the entire universe and funneling down to comets and possibly extraterrestrial life. Many people with little knowledge of outer space usually believe that space is congested, just as movies portray it. However, space is so gargantuan, objects are seen as only one ten–billionth of the brightness that our naked eye can perceive. From Earth, and months of deep investigation, a telescope can observe a galaxy that existed over 13 billion years ago. Little do we know, any discovery of outer space is considered a step closer to observing our actual surroundings beyond the planet Earth. Outer space is so infinitive scientists wonder if space exploration could ever do any justice to compare how small we truly are. As more information is gained, of course, more questions arise. For example, is time travel possible? Will humans ever be able to travel to other planets at a reasonable cost? With questions of every type, not all are capable of being answered at the moment, but hopefully through hours of research and studies someday all questions will be solved. With the sun able to produce energy up to a solid 3 to 5 billion more years, this gives us plenty of time to keep adapting to our changing environment. When the ISS was launched in 1998, international research and discoveries began. Observations revealed that radiation from the sun that reaches the earth ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Arguments Against Manned Space Research Does the universe go on forever? What happens if you go into a black hole? Those are some of the most pressing questions that could never be answered if government funding for man space flight is cut off. NASA recently ended its manned space flight program, dishing the job off to private space exploration companies.(Smith) In order to continue on the successful path to Mars and beyond, the government needs to keep funding man space flight for the important research on topics such as medicine and benefits to private space companies that come with it. Started in 1998, the International Space Station (ISS), is a project involving sixteen different countries . On the ISS, many types of research that couldn't be accomplished on earth is done. For ... [resolving] incurable diseases, crime, poverty, pollution, climate change, unemployment, and war." (Evans) Yes, it is very costly, but just like many of the other things, the money spent on it could be making world–changing discoveries, and isn't that worth it? Manned space flight is also fairly dangerous, such as when "an unmanned rocket, owned by Orbital Sciences Corp. and headed to the International Space Station, failed on takeoff. Three days later, SpaceShipTwo, a rocket flown by Virgin Galactic, broke up over the Mojave Desert, killing its pilot." (Accidents Highlight Limits of Human Space Travel) In perspective, we are still new to human space flight, and there are bound to be risks at first, and a considerably small amount of damage has been done considering how much has been done. There are many things, if lead astray could create dangerous situations, but we still continue with many of them. With the research about bacteria among other topics done on the ISS, and the benefits to the development of private space companies, continuing the government funding of manned space flight is beneficial more than it is harmfull. There are many ways that America is going to remain great and things that you will do will help ensure that we become even greater than we already are. One way I believe that we can make America even greater is through extensive investment in our space industry, both in the public sector and in the private sector, including government contracts with companies like SpaceX and Boeing. I believe that we should raise the NASA budget while also working with private companies to expedite our mission to Mars. Ensuring that NASA has the funding they need to get us to Mars and increase our presence in space is of great importance. Funding NASA does so many good things for us and people everywhere can appreciate how much it helps us. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are also many tangible benefits. However, later discoveries have been made because of the innovation of telescope designs which have astronomers focusing their ideas on more challenging questions and bigger ideas. To continue this curiosity, project specialists are continuing to build the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) that seems to be the next big step in the astronomical community. The Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) is being worked on to become the most advance and powerful optical telescope on Earth by a team of scientists, engineers and specialists. After long controversy, its planned location will be in Mauna Kea, Hawaii. The TMT is a reflecting telescope because it uses a mirrors over lenses. "TMT, with its 30–meter (nearly 100 foot) diameter mirror, will have nine times the light gathering power of today's best telescopes (Gateway, 2010). TMT's smaller parts, which are less than two meters across, can be created, handled and replaced a whole lot easier. • 25. Space Travel Alex Gagosian Composition II Instructor Bieniek Abstract Funding by the government allows selected human beings to experience a world beyond the atmosphere of earth. Some of mans greatest accomplishments have occurred in space, such as the moon landing. Space travel not only provides the delightful experience, but it also helps us to better our technology as the year's progress. Although these are positive aspects of space travel, there are negative aspects that strongly linger, making space travel not so promising. As you may know, funding for space travel has cost the people in our society a great deal of money. The government has managed to put the U.S. in debt causing an economic domino effect on other sectors of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The problem is the U.S. doesn't have billions of dollars to throw around, so most of the money used for space travel is budgeted into the U.S. deficit. This deficit affects all U.S. citizens through taxes, interest rates, consumption, and investment. Society as a whole is affected tremendously economically. Now when a natural disaster occurs all the money is tied up in the deficit, and federal agencies battle over where the disaster relief money should come from. While all this bickering is taking place within the government, millions of people could be in grave danger. Just a couple of months ago America witnessed an event similar to this one involving Hurricane Katrina. Government agencies took too long to aid the relief and hundreds of people died. Government has been known for centuries to be very slow in decision making. If the Government allocated money more efficiently then some of the nations financial problems could be solved. As with any advancement of technology, the moon landing had both positive and negative aspects associated with it. On the positive side, the moon landing paved the way for future space exploration. The trip was a huge success for the forward movement of mankind. The capabilities of the lunar module and other devices allowed scientists to determine the best designs and techniques for space travel. • 27. A New Space Age A new space age is about to set in with its leaders being private firms. The growing appeal of outer space as a tourist destination, as well as a research destination, has brought multiple problems to light in the international community. One of the first questions to be answered is how to manage space transportation tourism. Passengers could hypothetically cause damage to the spacecraft or vice versa, bringing up the issue of liability as the private sector is not addressed in the Liability convention. Seeing as the Treaties of the UN are difficult to interpret, it is unclear if private firms are in themselves a loophole to the Outer Space Treaty which protects all celestial bodies and outer space from being laid claim to. This also shines a light on the topic of resource extraction, seeing as it is unknown if this is considered "national appropriation" by the OST, as many private firms have detailed plans to use what space has to offer. This includes asteroid mining, the use of lunar water– both of which could possibly contain radiation, and lastly the installation of solar panel, which could pose a threat to the oil industry on Earth. Public to private sector relations are currently quite prosperous wherever they are being introduced, however there is always the daunting possibility that governments will start to become too reliant on corporations in the aerospace sector, a gateway for corruption. Funding is a massive topic to conquer regarding the private sector. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Personal Statement : Space Travel Name: Austin Autry Title: Space Travel General purpose: To inform Specific purpose: To inform audience members on both modern and forthcoming capabilities of space travel. Thesis Statement: The current space travel capabilities do not allow for travel into interstellar space and beyond. With the creation of laser beamed nanochips travelling at 100 million miles per hour, we could reach the nearest star, Alpha Centauri in 20 years, gaining pictures and data from some place far, far away. Introduction: Currently, it is very difficult to send humans and spacecraft anywhere in space, let alone out of our own solar system. The cost and risk involved in sending people and objects into space have not stopped humans from achieving impressive missions over the past 70 years. We have sent humans 248,655 miles deep into space and space craft 11.7 billion miles from the Earth. Although we are making strides in furthering our space exploration, there are still steps being taken to travel further than ever imaginable. With new and improving technology, scientists and others, are trying to find ways to make it into interstellar space and beyond. Stephan Hawking and a Russian billionaire unveiled their plan for an interstellar nanochip that could make it to Alpha Centauri in 20 years. • 33. Space Exploration Is A Waste Of Money Have you ever wondered about the possibilities of finding a planet like Earth which can sustain life? Through the continuation of space exploration, we can continue to look for earth–like planets and learn much more about the mysteries of the universe. Space programs and exploration have helped mankind to develop useful knowledge in different fields such as digital technology and medicine. According to Mindy Townsend, a writer for the social networking website Care2, we have to give credit to NASA for the development of the cell phone camera, which was developed at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), one of NASA's research centers. (par. 2). Likewise, Townsend also gives credit to NASA for the technology used in the development of CAT scanners, microscopy, and radiography (par. 6). However, many people still argue that space exploration is a waste of money because they claim that money can be spent on other priorities such as education and health care. Even though space exploration is expensive, the United States government should continue funding space exploration to promote innovation in technology, find extraterrestrial natural resources in the near future, and protect planet earth from outer space threats like space debris and excessive solar radiation. There are many reasons why I choose this topic but one of the main reasons is because of the fact that I live in Houston. This city is a historical landmark for the commanding of rockets and satellites. And I just love the great power that the rocket contains, this is where my second reason comes. I am fascinated by the fact that the rockets contains enough power to push through gravity and break through the atmosphere. The topic is how rockets are made. And many think of a rockets that launches into space, but it can also be a type of engine. The rocket usually has a fuel storage in it shaped like a cylinder with one end open. This was a great discovery by Newton which helped piece the puzzles in flying a rocket. How this is related to rockets? • 39. The Importance Of Commercial Space Exploration Since the mid–twentieth century, people have had a desire to explore different aspects of space. The space race between the United States of America and Russia was the height of space exploration. Now with modern interest in the colonization of Mars, the desire to explore space has, again, increased with 20 licensed launches in America in the 2017 calendar year according to the Federal Aviation Administration ("Commercial Space Data"). Different countries still express interest in exploring space, but commercial space exploration has become popular since the 2000's. American organizations have to adhere to regulations of the FAA, the government organization that provides licenses and permits to enter into space. Many current pieces of legislation, which have solved multiple previous issues, can still be further developed to improve commercial space exploration in the future as Mars colonization becomes a more tangible goal. Robert Walker, a former member of the United States House of Representatives, declared that many of the current space laws "make it easier for government to function in space" (q.t.d "Space Law"), but not companies that could revolutionize commercial space travel. Current American laws on regulations, protection for companies, and what people can do in space need to be altered in order for commercial space companies to reach Mars. The main beneficiary among all the others is science. Supported by space resources, the growth of space economy can provide the cost of building scientific instruments, outposts, and infrastructures in space. Improvement in scientific technology leads to further discoveries and knowledge. Which shows the symbiotic relationship existed between science and space resources. This article is useful to my research because of the analysis of the relationship between each step in space exploration and the possible benefits in the science field. Although this article is shorter than most of other resources, it clearly explains the whole processes of space exploration as a benign cycle, space resources produce economy, economy provides technologies, technologies creates opportunities to future exploration, future exploration leads to more discoveries and resources, and then back to increase in economy. Last but not least, the commercial sector aims to create richness and business growth out of the Space industry. It is of fundamental importance for the sustainability of the Space sector as a whole, as, differently from the scientific and military, is the only one specifically designed to be profitable. As the final objective is to provide an overview for the development of a sustainable Space strategy in South Australia, the commercial sector will be the crucial unit of analysis of the paper, but not the only one, as each sector is closely linked with the others, and has no chance to survive in isolation. It could be about traveling in a spaceship or aliens coming to Earth in a spaceship. Though the upbeat, country vibe of the song it is revealed that spaceships are a metaphor for life after death. Throughout the song Kesha sings about her excitement that the spaceship coming and saving her from the stresses of life on Earth, and about how death only brings humanity to the next great adventure. In Kesha's spaceship the main theme is that life can be difficult and filled with hate and negativity, but there is a place reached after death and in ones dreams that is full of love and joy. The second verse helps to prove the theme by showing the negative feelings about life on Earth, and also beginning the reveal the yearning for life after death. She sings, " I knew from the start I don't belong in these parts / there's too much hate, there's too much hurt for this heart / Lord knows this planet feels like a hopeless place" (Kesha 15–17). In this quote Kesha shows her feelings on the difficulties of life on Earth, which can give deeper insight as to why she is so excited to be leaving the planet. She shows her desire to escape earth when she says, " Thank God I'm going back home to outer space" (Kesha 18). This adds to the overarching theme because she calls outer space her home which insinuates that the spaceship is comfortable and familiar. Kesha also mentions God which could be a sign ` that outer space holds a spiritual significance beyond natural forces. The second verse shows the struggles of life on Earth and Kesha's yearning visit the spiritual place she envisions as outer space. The refrain emphasizes Kesha's deep faith in the spaceships, coming to save he from earthly difficulties. She first sings, " I'm waiting for my spaceship to come back to me / ... / I don't really care if you believe it's coming back for me yeah" (Kesha 19–21). Looking up at the night sky, it made me feel small compared to the universe. I imagined one day that there would be a time when humans would be able to travel through space to different galaxies. At the time it was a far–fetched idea, but now the idea of interstellar travel is all the rage these days. When we talk about interstellar travel, we have to consider many issues and problems that would arise with interstellar travel. A few issues that arise are about us human beings first. How does our body react in space? What problems could arise with our systems in space? Can we live long enough to travel through space for long distance travel? That's where suspended animation comes in. Another issue is about how advanced we are in our civilization to actually be able to travel through space. In other words, the Kardashev scale. Even though scientists and researchers have found different planets that could hold life, we have yet to build the perfect spaceship that could uphold all these issues when traveling through space at the speed of light. It would benefit the Earth greatly, for reasons I've stated and reasons I have not. People would be able to learn more about the vast space around us. They would also learn more about asteroids in general. Along with this knowledge, it would benefit us by making Earth safer, allowing us to mine and use asteroids, and by being not as expensive as many other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 67. What Is The Difference Between The Bureaucracy And The... Week 6 Essay – Bureaucracy and the Space Program It is no secret that going to space is an expensive endeavor. In order for programs to get approved it has to go through a bureaucratic process. An interesting point in this week's reading is in regards to how new initiatives are not scrutinized through the same standard routing process and how bureaucracy itself manipulates it. McCurdy pointed out that there have been several different mechanisms established to analyze space policies.(McCurdy, pg 108–110) These bodies can be used for different purposes by the President for different initiatives. None of these bodies are identified for any specific focus area. New initiatives, for the most part, are staffed through the easiest route ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 69. Landing On The Moon Pros And Cons Technology has been useful to mankind in the past through our motivation to move forward. For example, the Apollo program was the greatest peacetime mobilization in the United States. NASA spent about 180 million dollars of the federal budget, employed 400,000 people, and collaborated with about 20,000 companies and organizations. The program was not only a victory for the West from the Cold War, it increased our curiosity of what technology is capable of. The astronauts went to the moon because it was a big thing to do. However, landing on the moon would not have happened if it were not for the long series of technological triumphs like the assembly line and the airplane. As years gone by, technologist have diverted us and enhanced themselves ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 71. The Space Of Space : Space Exploration Look Easy, But It... Movies like Star Trek may make space exploration look easy, but it is no walk in the park. Space projects take years of planning and development. Part of the reason why it takes such an extensive period of time is because scientists have to come up with a spacecraft capable of sustaining human life, develop spacesuits that can support human life, and gather nutritious food and medicine for the journey. Obviously, scientists must consider a multitude of variables before sending someone into space. First, scientists must consider the dreaded space sickness. Space sickness occurs when the brain gets jumbled by the lack of gravity; this is an issue astronauts face in the first couple of days (Bond 35). Car sickness is very similar to space sickness (Bond 35). For example, nausea is a mutual symptom of both diseases (Bond 35). However, nausea can be a gigantic problem in space because astronauts have no way of disposing of vomit and have to carry vomit bags (Bond 35). Other symptoms are dizziness, headache, tiredness, loss of appetite, and chills (Bond 35). The first report came from Gherman Titov (Bond 35). Titov was a soviet astronaut. Titov reported that he was suffering from nausea during his 24–hour flight (Bond 35). The next report came from astronauts Boris Yegorov and Konstantin Feoktistov (Bond 35). Both astronauts "reported feeling upside down" (Bond 35). Additionally, they experienced dizzy spells when they moved their heads (Bond 35). Furthermore, Yegorov lost all ... For craft the wheel with cables connected to the pilot controls, which is found on the aero foil. National Aeronautics and Space Administration said that "shuttle contains a completely fly–by–wire astronautics system". Which suggests that each one the electrical association square measure a lot of autonomy, that mean everything is completed on the surface and conjointly it's monitored by the board. The most engines of the shuttle aren't aided by the most laptop and solely before the utilization of performance improved. There are two components in the box that help heat up the parts are gold painted walls and aerogel. Aerogel is basically 99.8% air. For example during the mars mission the warm electronic heated box because temperature always drops below –90F. This is one of the main component they needed to be successful during the mars mission or if it wasn't heated at the right temperature the rover could been misleading them with the readings. This is why NASA chose to create a Curiosity Rover which doesn't a lot rely on solar panels, but it also rely on other power sources. When components that rely on solar panels have a drawback and the drawback is when there isn't enough sunlight, it will be harder for component work properly. Dust will build over period of time and during winter less amount of sunlight is the heavy maintenance. That will affect the components during the mission because the components might fail on the spot. For example, during the mars mission they had different types of sources to keep the components. The mars drone is covered with solar panels and the panels produce more energy than the recommended energy. That shows us solar panels are effective for a certain period of time ... Williamson Abstract As technology progresses, so too does humanity's reach. November of 2015 saw a new Act signed into law that promotes commercial activity in space. The activities of acquisition and use of asteroid and space resources must be in compliance with the Outer Space Treaty. This paper reviews the new Act and identifies three areas where the Act may be in conflict with the Treaty: threatening scientific investigation in outer space, appropriating space resources, and introducing potential harmful biological contamination. Here, the reasons for their conflict are described and possible resolution are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... citizens (U.S. Commercial Space Launch Competitiveness Act, 2015). The Act is a boon to Planetary Resources, which is one of only two companies known to be actively developing technologies to mine near–Earth asteroids for their water, hydrocarbons, and precious metals. Planetary Resources (n.d) states on its website that it intends to deliver these resources back to Earth. However, Deep Space Industries, Inc., (2016) the other asteroid mining company, alternatively proposes to keep the resources in situ to spur human expansion into the solar system. The mining technologies and resources left in situ will likely encourage other space companies like SpaceX to strengthen their pursuit of exploration or colonization missions to Mars. While these companies, buoyed now by additional support from the U.S. federal government, enthusiastically pursue a space–age "gold rush", little concern appears to be given to their significance in regard to the 1967 Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space, Including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies. This treaty is colloquially referred to as the Outer Space Treaty. There are multiple points of potential conflict with this important document, which has been signed by 104 countries, in the practices of the nascent commercial space industry of the United States. These conflicts include: threatening scientific investigation in outer space, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 77. Space Technology : The Advancement Of Space Travel To Mars Before the twentieth century, there was little opportunity that existed to explore Mars, except with astronomical observations and scientific knowledge. Within the last couple decades, however, advancements to technology have brought forth many new significant achievements in space exploration, making it possible to possibly send people to Mars. The advancement of space technology and space medicine made it a reality for humans to go to Mars. Space travel however comes with some challenges, these include bone and muscle loss due to the constant exposure to zero gravity, some cell damage from the cosmic radiation, and psychological and sociological issues from the constant isolation. A month long road trip across the United States with five other people in a car would be a little cramped and would most likely lead to everyone getting on each other's nerves, but on the bright side, stops can be made for breaks, food, stretching, or even site seeing. On a 2–3 year trip to Mars however, there are no stops, or breaks for food, or stretching. One cannot open the window for some sort of fresh air or to relax. The trip to Mars will be one that will be very difficult to make, requiring certain attributes to overcome the problems that occur. Of all problems that one may experience in route to Mars and back, effects on the astronaut's mind may be the most considerable risk factor of them all. A round trip to Mars would take about 2–3 years. The crew will most likely come across ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
