How From Be A Boy
HOW TO; Be a Boy "Oh my god you guys are so dumb!" says girl 1.
"Why are you so immature?" and "Stop touching each other! Why are you always touching boys?"
says teacher 1. "I don't understand why you boys have to be so wound up and wild" says teacher 2.
"Your friends are so annoying." says girl 2 to her boyfriend. "I don't know why you all are a bunch
of "dogs" all the time."
These are all comments made in the direction of boys. We all know how boys tend to act, and I
know it is annoying to most people, but these are some of the crucial steps to being a boy if you ask
any girl at school. Loud and proud, we boys accept these comments. But is there more to guys than
just what is seen by the naked eye? What I am going to teach you today is the proper way to be a
boy.
The first step to being a boy is being dumb. This means laughing at dumb stuff including: goofy
walks, voices, gestures, impersonations of people, when teachers say something inappropriate, and
sometimes even farts or coughs. If you have not pissed someone off or grossed someone out by
doing this, you are not succeeding at your expectation of being a boy. Yes, we are an odd species.
This brings me to the next step.
The second step is to be gross. To be gross, you must have poor manners while eating, farting and
burping in public areas, and even not showering for a couple days. The grosser the better when it
comes to being a boy. I know not showering can become extreme, but it is very important to get as
gross

Joseph Bruchac's The Bear Boy
The Lesson to Be Learned.
Imagine that you are a young boy in an old Pueblo village and your mother has passed away.Your
father is sad and surrounds himself with work to do, and he is too busy to care and teach you. This is
what happens in Joseph Bruchac's, "The Bear Boy."
This short story begins when a boy named Kualtay, has grown up, and it is time for his father to
teach him so he can do his best in initiation, The process of admitting someone in a society. . His
father just pushes him away and says that he is "too busy." The boy finds bear tracks (which you are
never supposed to follow.) and follows them piqued. He finds two bear cubs and starts to play with
them. The whole town starts looking for the boy, The boys father starts to worry

Boy By Roald Dahl Boy Quotes
Boy
In Roald Dahl's book Boy, Dahl described his life as a child. His childhood was full of violence and
delights. This statement is true. Some examples of violent experiences in his life were visits to the
doctor, the boazers and caning. However, Boy also had a holiday in Norway and took great delight
in pranking Mrs Pratchett, the owner of the candy shop.
When Dahl was a young child he experienced a painful removal of his adenoids by the local doctor.
Boy was whisked to the doctor and he thought nothing violent would happen to him. To his surprise,
the doctor secured him to a chair, heated a red–hot iron blade and plunged the blade into his mouth.
The doctor gave it a quick twist, and then pulled it out. Making matters worse, the entire ... Show

"It is impossible to describe the absolute peace and beauty that surrounds you. The boat weaves in
and out between countless tiny islands."
Apart from the journey to Norway, when his grandmother fully convinced herself that they were
most certainly going to die, Boy seemed to enjoy the experience. Dahl loved the beautiful
tranquillity and the sound of the ocean. Although his hotel was pitifully basic, the meals were a sight
to behold. Dahl's breakfasts were mouth watering dishes such as spiced and pickled herrings or
perfectly crisped rolls. For dinner, Dahl would eat poached flounder with vivid orange spots with
hollandaise sauce that immensely enhanced the flavour of the fish.
Dahl also adored the family's motorboat. In the evening they would zoom back and forth breathing
in the fresh air and enjoy the wind ruffle their hair. Based on these experiences from Dahl's book
Boy it is fair to say travelling to Norway definitely was a delight in his

Boys Rite Of Passage Essay
Mukanda – Boys Rite of Passage A boy's rite of passage for becoming a man is called a Mukanda.
This begins between the age of ten and twelve and is announced when a masked, garbed creature (or
makishi) travels from village to village announcing when an upcoming Mukanda is about to occur (
"Mbunda" 2007 ). The boys usually live three to six months away from home at a bush camp and
are taught survival–skills, knowledge about nature, religion, social practices and values ("Mbunda
people" 2014). One of the rituals that's done is putting on a mask (that represents their ancestors'
spirits in order to deliver positive supernatural influences to their community) and dance. The young
men who make their own mask typically make them from a wicker frame as a base and add on
materials such as, bent twigs and branches and bark cloth (Wagner 2013; Jordán 2014). These masks
are made in the initiation camps and are burned afterwards. Masks that are made by professionals
are made in privacy where women and boys wouldn't be able to figure out any of the mukanda's
secrets. Generally the professional makes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a Mbunda wants to worship and pray to their ancestors before and activity starts then they will set
it next to their bed and near their head while they're sleeping. If an evil spirit is thought to be
somewhere then any living animal (except humans) will be killed and its blood will be rubbed on
the fetish pole. Then the fetish pole will be placed where the evil spirit is expected to be, by rubbing
the animals blood on the pole the Mbunda are showing respect and honor to God and the spirits.
They also use fetish poles to offer something to an ancestor, during illnesses or deaths, when
someone has a nightmare, if a hunter doesn't kill an animal, during the beginning of planting season,
and to summon rain during a drought ("Mbunda people"

The Black Of Black Boys
2. (A) Hook (2004) hits on a few key notes as to why black men are so angry and they all stem from
the idea that manhood is synonymous with the domination and control over others. By being male
they are in a position of authority that gives them the right to assert their will over others, to use
coercion and or violence to gain and maintain power. This train of thought starts with what role men
and women play in patriarchal culture. Being raised in this manner little boys are not allowed to
express feelings and emotions. If they do, it's generally associated with being weak. Many black
parents feel it is crucial to train boys to be "tough." Black boys are daily victimized by toxic
shaming. In the black culture there is little concern about the emotional wellbeing of black boys.
Many young black boys are conditioned to be victims by emotional abuse, experienced at home and
at school. Emotionally abused black boys are filled with rage. Primed to act out they become adults
who are rageoholics. There is often so much attention given the concrete material manifestations of
the impact of racism and other forms of social oppression on black males that the psychological
impact of early childhood abandonment is not highlighted. Black males are unable to think
creatively about their lives because of their uncritical acceptance of narrow life–scripts shaped by
patriarchal thinking. Hooks refers to such victimization and shaming as soul murdering. Soul
murder is the psychological term

Stone Boy Themes
Authority, grief and guilt are all contextual themes in both 'The Stone Boy' by Gina Berriault and
episode six 'Pretty Boy Blue' of the Australian television programme, 'Redfern Now'. 'The Stone
Boy' is a short story about a young boy named 'Arnold' accidentally shooting dead his older brother
'Eugene' otherwise known as 'Eugie' as they are on their way to pick peas. Episode six 'Pretty Boy
Blue' of 'Redfern Now' is about Aboriginal police officer 'Aaron Davis' who under certain
circumstances allows a young Aboriginal delinquent 'Lenny' to die under police custody. The
themes; authority, grief and guilt will be explored from both materials and comparisons and
contrasts will be made between them.
The theme of guilt can be noticed in both; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the eyes of Arnold, Eugene is a superior and an authoritative figure. Arnold thinks this because
Eugene is the eldest child in the family and therefore is aware of his superiority over Arnold. A clear
absolution is not available for Arnold yet but because he still very young and cannot do to much
about anything, he tries to escape his family treating him differently by leaving the house to look for
the lost calf up on the mountain. Although his parents are trying to set aside the accident his sister
does not seem to acknowledge him as a person anymore, "...Nora, sitting at his left, did not pass the
pitcher of milk to him...Pass it on to Arnold....Nora put her hands in her lap" (Berriault 9). Arnold
allows characters like the Sheriff and Uncle Andy to impose a their view of him and he adheres to
that perception of being a "reasonable" killer. For Aaron, his cultural background prevent him from
reaching any sort of absolution. The community having a prejudice against him since his inaction

Clip Three cont. When Seth makes the observation "She thinks she's robbing a f**king bank", his
body language changes, with a midshot showing his outside shoulder leaning in towards the other
two boys. This suggests that he is more open to a connection with both boys now. Joseph's first
dialogue in the Irish school is an imitation of his teacher, "Now". This helps to establish a bond with
his peers. The diegetic sound at this point also includes laughing and the boys begin to make eye
contact with each other. This suggests the establishment of a new positive relationship and
perception of belonging for all three boys.

Bear Boy
In the fictional story that I read "Bear Boy" by Joseph Bruchac was about a young boy named Kou–
Haya wanted to be loved and spend time with his father, but his father was depressed about his
wife's death so he didn't pay much attention to Kou–Haya. 'As a result, Kou–Haya was a timid boy
and walked about stooped over all the time. When the other boys raced or wrestled, Kou–Haya
slipped away. He spent much of his time alone.' As time passed he reached of age when he should've
been getting his father's help to get ready for initiation. His father still didn't pay attention to him.

father then took some honey from the bees and "put some pollen and a small piece of turquoise at

that the father was starting to learn. The father went up to the cave again but this time he gave the

Essay On Stereotypes Of Boys
Many things and many problems appear to all people in all ages but when we say boys we talk about
our future and the main treasure, and here we talk about boys will be boys which refer to one thing.
we should treat boys according to their ages. Some boys find themselves depressed and want to
commit crimes, why? this is a result of not being able to live their childhood in societies which treat
them differently from girls. They are oppressed to act like real men not real boys; Subsequently we
find them hiding their emotions, lying to themselves and keeping silent. There are roles for family,
school and community to get rid off all the oppressive stereotypes associated with boys so we can
discover their merits and demerits. As one's family is usually closer, families should start by
treating boys with more kindness. Schools should recognise their abilities and communities should
facilitates their talents.
Causes:

They then start feeling isolated. This isolation evolves to depression. Depressed boys can commit
crimes, do strange acts, and rebel against all people whom they believe have wronged them.
Especially their parents.
Solutions:
The point here is how we can treat boys better. At first, we should acknowledge their needs, let
them express themselves, and we should let them live their ages. They can cry, they can love, and
they can hate. Schools should take extra steps in student care. Starting with its teachers, Teachers
should interact with boys and keep an eye on them if they showed aggression or violence. And if a
boy misbehaved, communication is key. The boy's family should be informed and a follow–up from
the school is obligatory. Also communities should establish programs about how to communicate
with boys in different

Socializing Boys Research Paper
What are the negative effects of socializing boys to fear weakness in our society? Most of the time
we hear stories about women facing the pressures of fitting in with societies expectations of being a
woman. From the supermodels on magazine covers to a simple television ad, women feel as though
they have a specific stereotype to live up to. Though, women are not alone men also feel pressured
by society and the media to fit a certain gender role. While women are taught to express themselves
and be the fostering, nurtures, men are encouraged to be courageous, tolerate pain, and confront
danger, men also have stereotypes to fulfill. Men's magazines and posters often contain pictures of
what the media describes as "manly." From an early age, boys are taught to be tough and physical.
Male role models that we always see are athletes and strong heroes, but they are also are war heroes
who have grown their infamy through vicious actions. Boys are born affectionate beings, but at a
very young age, they are taught the behaviors, language, and mentality that aligns them with
society's idea of what it means to be a man. Society needs to stop socializing boys to fear weakness
because there are negative effects, such as being forced to wear the "male role" mask trying to prove
themselves a man, hiding their emotions, and violence. There is a common misconception that men
don't go through the pressures that society enforces on them. Young boys learn how they should act
and look,

Epilogue To The Cold Boy
Calum watched Sterling slowly stir the cold soup with a mocking smile. The boy anxiously lifted his
arms still trying to break the knots. The ropes hurt his injured wrist but he didn't dare complain.
He knew Sterling was cruel but he never thought the alpha would be this evil. The alpha had starved
him and was now bribing him with food to get information out of the boy. Honestly at this point
Calum would tell anything he knew to make Sterling stop, but he knew nothing. The questions
Sterling was asking he had no knowledge of.
He watched Sterling scoop up another spoonful of the soup and tip it back into the bowl.

"Um about five." He mumbled. Sterling frowned and handed the bowl of soup off to another alpha.
"If you are going to bullshit me you are wasting my time. We will try again at breakfast tomorrow
morning." Sterling grumbled. Calum closed his eyes trying not to cry. He swallowed thickly as his
breaths began to quicken.
He heard Sterling slam the door to the room and begin to talk to someone outside. After a moment
of so the door opened again. There was a brief pause before the door slammed shut again and
footsteps began to approach.
He felt his wrist begin to loosen and he slowly opened his eyes. A sigh of relief overcame him when
he realised it was just Nick. It was odd, he use to be terrified of the alpha back when he would visit
Styles but now he prayed for Nick to come see him.

Bra Boys, A Brotherhood That No One
Bra Boys, a brotherhood that no one can split up, a sense of fulfillment and belonging. Bra Boys is
filmed based on the story of the Abberton brothers and how they were saved by surfing. In this film,
they provide numerous example of masculinity. But are there any femininity examples shown? This
film, in which females are absent except for a stalwart grandmother, displays no actual females. The
two that were displayed were not really significant in the film, for example the two little girls
playing patty–cake as the Long Bay Correctional Complex lurks in the background. Also shown
were the moms of some of the young boys that joined the Bra Boys. This whole film revolves
around males and their masculinity of their community and lifestyle. Every single Bra Boy that was
interviewed showed many features of archetypes, such as; the typical surfer and also the larrikin.
These archetypes define who the Bra Boys are within themselves and to the outside world.
Bra Boys are all about being the biggest, baddest, most adventurous gang around. They stand up for
their rights and also where they come from. They believe in true brotherhood, for that is all they
have. Masculinity is represented all throughout the film. Some were more obvious than others, for
example; violence, and also protection. Within the first couple scenes, violence was one of the key
concept that seemed to be part of the 'normal' masculine. Like any man, violence is caused by
aggression that is exerted in the wrong

Barrio Boy Analysis
Introduction What drives people to undertake a mission, well people are crazy sometimes, they drive
themselves to do things so they can make them and their family happy. They all do different things
to make themselves believe that they can do it and, they are all determined to get the things they
want. Ernesto Galarza, Farah Ahmedi, and Billy Coleman all drive their determination to the things
they need as well. As an example Farah wants her and her mom to be safe so they travel up the
mountain and Farah is determined to get through the mountains to get to her safety. Even though she

The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas Innocence
The novel "The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas" written by John Boyne, shows the impact of a child's
innocent perspective leading to significant events during the horrific time of the Holocaust. Bruno,
the main protagonist tells a tale of exploration and his formation of an unlikely friendship while
living in Nazi occupied Poland during WW2. Throughout the text, Bruno's lack of awareness of the
cruel acts committed by those closest to him, including his Father, the Commandant, implements the
nature of childhood innocence and its importance. In particular, Bruno's interactions with his Father,
Gretel and Shmuel clearly display demonstrating innocence despite the atrocities of this dark period
in history.
The novel demonstrates how Bruno and Shmuel share a great deal in common but perhaps what is
most striking is the childhood innocence which characterises both boys. Bruno is unaware that his
father is a Nazi commandant and that he lives within yards of a concentration camp. Shmuel,
imprisoned in the camp, seems not to understand the severity of his situation. When his father goes
missing Shmuel does not understand that he actually went into the gas chamber, "He was here on
Monday and then he went on work duty with some other men and none of them have come back."(p
194). While spending time together, being filled with purity, Shmuel tells Bruno of the horrific train
experience that the Jews were forced through. "The doors were at the end," explained Bruno. "There

Boys Without Girlfriends
Boys without girl friends in NSU
Introduction:
As a coeducation institution boys and girls study together in North South University, they come in
contact with many strangers on the sidewalks, steps, classrooms, and library. At first these
individuals constituted a confusing blur of people they didn't know. In a relatively short period,
however, as they walked down on the campus or sat in the classrooms, some faces began to stand
out simply because they passed by or sat beside a few individuals more than once. These casual and
unplanned contacts soon led to mutual recognition. Those boys and girls may not have known who
these individuals were, but they came to recognize their faces. As a result both of them were more

Love is a central issue in most people's lives and some times people may not know the right

Quotes From The Boy
A Character Analysis of The Boy
The boy has numerous different identites, his mindset is childlike, next he is seemingly living
different lives relying on the people around him and reacts in certain ways when put in multiple
types of situations.
Moving on, the boy acts younger than who he turly is. This can be shown when the author had
written, "will he learn to grow up before it's too late?". The author explains how the boy is living in
this world without a care. The boy is seen as immature and not reasonable. In fact, the boy
"daydreams of winning the global race" which is a very puerile thing to say. The boy dreams big yet
does not seem to comprehend the difficulty of being "the best in the world". ... Show more content

This quote proves that in a circumstance such as with his uncle who he has a stronger relationship
with due to them being family, he behaves like a child. Not to mention, his uncle does get strict and
stern with him, as well as being confrontational at times. Besides, when the boy speaks at the table it
is considered rude and ill–mannered yet it comes across as if he does it frequently. The author
mentions that the boy possess an inconsistent attitude towards people as "split personality not
excluded". This means that the boy behaves differently depending on the people surrounding him.
This could be due to his parents having very opposite personailties which resulted in the boy to have
a combination of both. Moving on, the author notes how, "he's really much more like his Father and
yet if you say so he'll pull a great face.". With this information, the boy appears to not have a close
relationship with his father. This could be due to his parents living apart. Moreover, the author states
"you" signifying that regardless of who the person is if they mention how he appears to look like his
father he'll give the impression of being disgusted and

Rick Moody's Boys
The title of the story "Boys", by Rick Moody, is quite misleading. Although this is a story about
boys, one often denotes that term to necessarily be referring to maleness. This story though, is
lacking quite a bit of maleness and masculinity. As we see these two "boys" grow up in life, they
lack the ability to grow into proper men, but rather stay as boys, at best. The boys are unable to
become men, due to the women in their life limiting them to a feminine nature, and only when
everyone in their life is gone are the boys able to grow into real men. This story is not just a simple
biographical narrative, but a Bildungsroman, completely concerned with the gender roles and
growth of the boys.
Repeatedly, the boys fail to act in ways that fulfill ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One might assume this to mean that they leave and do not come back, however, they are never seen
to leave the house, rather, they simply stay in the house constantly and therefore are unable to re–
enter. Their act of staying in the private sphere indicates not only their consistency within their
femininity but being completely engulfed in it. This is further seen in the statement of "boys as an
absence of boys" (416). Although they are still male in sex, they are not truly male in gender.
Eventually, though, the boys "enter the house, which they ultimately must do" (416). This indicates
to us that they did eventually leave the private sphere again, and now that they have left and come
back, we never see of the mother again. As the boys return home they are finally preparing to get
married boasting a "beard, neatly trimmed" and "denim". This combination is one that speaks to
assured masculinity. Furthermore, the boys now participate in fishing and spending time with their
father again, activities they are only able to do now that their mother is gone. As the mother is never
said to have died as the other characters in this story, it is unlikely that she left physically, but rather
that the boys realized she had been holding them back from growing as men and cut her out of their

blooming. He stalks around sure shouldered and you have the feeling he's got more in him, more
stories to tell. For a girl each boy it's as though a petal gets plucked each time". She mean that boys
in a way guys don't care as much about things but for girls they do. Boys have a hard time

Boy Meets Girl: A Reflection Paper
This paper analyzes the film Boy Meets Girl. The story within the film revolves around a
transgender girl navigating her life space. The film will be critiqued on its portrayal of LGBTQ
persons, relation to course material, cultural factors, and discrimination/oppression of the main
character. Finally, the paper concludes with a personal reflection.
Portrayal of LGBTQ
The main character, Ricky, identifies as a "transgender girl". The film does a good job emphasizing
the normality of Ricky's daily life experiences, while also including important distinguishing
features. For example, Ricky has conversations and outings with her best friend, Robby, but also
experiences uneasiness regarding her external appearances. The film portrays LGBTQ individuals in
a humanistic way such that the viewer empathizes with Ricky. Struggles are touched upon like the
difficulty in having to share transgender status in a safe space and have conversations about sexual
history. However, the film is weak in having a realistic portrayal of people reacting to Ricky being
transgender. Though the film does indicate that Ricky's mother left due to Ricky being transgender,
David having outward hatred towards her, and Ricky being denied acceptance to a school, the film
does not truly cover the depth of difficulties that transgender women face. ... Show more content on

The Boy In The Striped Pajamas Essay
The Boy in Striped Pajamas is a heartrending film based on Bruno's struggles with friends, family,
and a new home. Bruno, a young boy who is the son of a Nazi soldier, faces multiple troublesome
situations. Even through Bruno's struggles, the film supports a major theme of friendship. In this
movie, Bruno and Shmuel strike an unlikely friendship that would ultimately be life changing. The
movie makes it clear that friendship can break all boundaries. The Boy in Striped Pajamas
effectively uses the elements of sound, costuming, lighting, and dialogue to support the theme of
friendship. The element of sound is used throughout the entirety of the film to support the essence of
friendship. In the opening scenes of the movie, Bruno is seen playfully ... Show more content on

Lighting is used multiple times throughout the film to support the theme of friendship. The first
example of lighting is present in the opening scenes of the movie. As Bruno and his friends are
playfully running through the streets of Berlin, the sun is shining and the picture is bright. In
contrast, Bruno's home when he finds out that his family is moving is dark and gloomy. Once again,
the director uses the lighting to display Bruno's emotions. When Bruno is with his friends, the
shining light indicates his happiness. However, when Bruno discovers that he is leaving his friends,
the dark lighting displays Bruno's dismal feeling. Similarly, the same concepts are used in the later
stages of the film. As Bruno wanders into the backyard, he finds the shed with a window, a possible
route to the "farm". As Bruno looks up at the window, the light shining through the open window is
vibrant. This bright light represents Bruno's escape from this place without friends to the farm where
friendship surely awaits him. Finally, the director uses lighting in scenes with both Bruno and
Shmuel to show their friendship. In scenes where Bruno and Shmuel are together, the lighting is
bright, once again representing the friendship between the two, along with Bruno's happiness in this
friendship. However, in the closing scenes of the movie, the lighting while Bruno and Shmuel are
together becomes

Analysis Of The Boy In The Box
Out of all homicide cases in the US, about one third of them end up unsolved. The unfortunate
murder of 'The Boy In The Box' is no exception. The spine chilling case of 'The Boy In The Box' is
about the devastating death of a little boy found in Philidelphia and no one knows who or what
killed him. The mysterious death left many investigators baffled about who the boy was and how he
died. Many people from different places developed their own theories to conclude his death, but like
any other theories, there's always something that disproves them.
In February of 1957, a man came across a big box that contained what he thought was a doll, but
upon further inspection, he found out that he had actually discovered the body of a little boy. ...

The hat was made by Hannah Robbins who remembered the man because the cap was costume
made to have a leather strap and a buckle added. She described the man to be: blonde, between the
ages of 26–30. She said that he paid in cash and that she never saw him again. This lead to
detectives searching over 100 stores nearby but they eventually got nowhere. The next and last clue
about the poor boy's mysterious case was the box he was found in. The box was from a JCPenny
store 15 miles away. The investigators used the serial number on the box in which they later traced
down and found out that it had previously contained a bassinet. 12 boxes of the bassinets were
shipped but there was no record because since all 12 paid in cash. 8 out of the 12 people who bought
the bassinets called to clarify that they had either thrown the box away or still have it.
Apart from the clues given they still had one more mystery to solve and it was who the boy was.
Investigators still wanted to continue with the case so they kept the boy in a morgue. Many people
from 10 different stated came to look at the boy to see if he was a missing family member.
Unfortunately, nobody claimed him. Foot prints and fingerprints of the boy were taken and
compared to hospital records but nothing was found. 400,000 flyers of the boy were sent out and
even the AMA sent out a description but nothing came through. The fact that there is no proof that
the boy even existed led to many theories of who

The Boys Crisis Summary
On January 30, 2006, Newsweek published a magazine focused on "The Boys Crisis." There were
many topics that were covered in the magazine in regards to "The Boys Crisis." One of the main
ideas that the author, Peg Tyre focused on was that the academic performance of male students are
falling behind the performance of female students, throughout all grades, and that male students
need to be more accountable for their actions through things like serving detention. While she wrote
a lot about gender, pictures like the one that I have attached, of students at an all boy's public school
serving detention, were included in the magazine. This picture accurately depicts that Peg's

classroom comes from somewhere different and has been in different situations. It is vital to know a
brief background of each of your students and where they come from, and not to be out to change
them but instead support their behavior. Things can be done to help each student, but placing them
in a room together to serve time for their wrong doings is not going to solve anything. For example,
if I come from a very heated family, where when we get mad we physically exert our anger, then
come up with methods with that student to help he or she cope with their feelings. This is much
more effective than letting the situation escalate with the potential of someone getting hurt, or just

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas
In the novel, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, the author uses the plot to change the main character,

Boys And Girls Summary
" A woman' job is to keep her man happy." This has been the societal expectation for girls or women
rather, for centuries. If a marriage fails, the first concern is, did the wife satisfy her man in their
marriage. Boys are expected to be the providers, while girls are to stay at home and keep her mister
happy and satisfied as for as he is the one sustaining for their needs. A. Munro used "Boys and
Girls" to convey the idea that males are prominent to females in the society because it exhibits the
important duties, titles and privileges that are compiled to boys but remotely to girls.
When girls try to prove their worth in the society, they are obstructed with situations. Situations that
they may experience starting from a young age, such as the need to stay home in order to be trained
by the women figures in the family and be able to fulfill the duties that awaits them later in life;
becoming a wife and a mother, precisely as the society expects them to be. Moreover, they are
neglected to be given the chance to perform tasks that are envisioned to be difficult and manly.
Tasks such as working in a farm. The protagonist in the story is a girl who prefers manly duties and
have had a hard time accepting her true purpose in life. She perceived the roles associated with
women, not as important as the duties given to males. For example, her mother's duty is to stay
home to make sure that all the daily household chores are completed. Not to mention, her mother
serves as a helpful

Why Are Boys Dirty
Why do boys like to get dirty? It's a mystery to so many people! Sisters and mothers and
neighborhood girls scoff at the immaturity and Neanderthal nature of the activity in which boys
partake in immersing themselves in filth. Growing up there is some kind of fascination with grime
and dust and sweat and most of all mud. Almost every boy grew up with a sand box where he could
at least get somewhat dirty.
In our youth, we boys would spend hours digging holes in the backyard, building forts in the woods,
riding dirt bikes, building dams in the rain, only to return home to the frowns upon our mom's faces
at the state of our clothes and bodies. But of course we loved every minute of it, and dreaded the
time when we had to take a bath, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the lack of rain had turned the tiny cove into a shoe–swallowing, waist deep acre of muck
and mire. Standing on the wooden platform that regularly served as a floating dock, I watched my
companion journey across this small wasteland to retrieve a fishing net, long abandoned at the
bottom of the lake. Excitement overwhelmed me when after a few steps, I saw him lurch forward as
the wet ground appeared to swallow him up to his hams. I could not resist plunging in with him, and
the next six hours were spent in this wonderland, swimming and sinking and laughing in the slime.
There is a sense of freedom and recklessness and power and rejection of responsibility that
accompanies the male as he submerges himself in the land of dirt. He finds freedom in forgetting all
cares of what his mother or father will think, so he can do what he wants. In not caring he becomes
reckless, allowing his masculine wild side to show its colors, forgetting about stained clothes, and
matted hair. He'll run free and get dirty, ignoring the consequences because he knows they are small.
He loves to get dirty so he can prove that he can survive. He wants to know that he can live in nature
and overcome it, and the dirt is evidence of his survival, similar to the way old soldiers take pride in
their battle scars. Playing in dirt has been a major way many a boy has expressed his masculinity

Just A Boy Thing
Is it Really Just a Boy Thing?
One of the most talked about debates in education is the widening achievement difference between
male and female students. It has been debated for more than a decade why male students are falling
behind in the educational system. There is significant evidence to believe that this is a phenomenon.
However, there is not a concrete answer as to why male students are lacking academically. This
leads to two possible lines of thinking about gender gaps: Either they represent innate differences in
boys' and girls' abilities because of genetic make up, or they represent the biases of how schools
treat boys and girls and that is the reason in differences academically.
According to a 2010 report by the Center on Education ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Boys are more likely to be suspended, retained in grade or placed in special education. A 2012 study
by Christopher Cornwell, head of the economics department at the University of Georgia, and
colleagues found that boys on average score 15 percent lower on an assessment of non–cognitive
skills (engagement in class, ability to sit calmly, interpersonal skills) than girls. Argued, this could
be possibly be because the opportunities for boys to be exposed to male role models are distinctively
disadvantaged across the nation by the dominance of women in teaching. Some have posited that
female teachers instinctively reinforce "female" behavior and fail to acknowledge, and even punish,
the gender–specific behaviors of boys. According to Cox, boys often feel alienated in school from
the earliest grades. They feel as though it's a place they don't belong, where their particular ways of
processing are not valued. He says. "Very often, we're pathologizing boys for being boys. They are
being treated as less–than members of a classroom, and people who are deficient or insufficient in a
number of ways." This is believed to be because it is necessary to teach boys, at young ages,
strategies to connect and communicate, to build their communication competency. That might
involve learning how to give compliments or cultivating a conscience. In schools, Cox advocates
social–skills groups, where teachers and students have conversations and students learn to voice
their opinions. While research shows that male teachers in the lower grades improve the likability of
school for boys, it does not necessarily translate into stronger academic outcomes. All–boys schools
also have mixed results. "There's been a proliferation of same–sex schools and classrooms in public
schooling," Davis says. "We would love to see more achievement outcomes." He reminds that urban
schools, in particular, struggle with issues of teacher

Boys' Antisocial Behavior Essay
Boys' Antisocial Behavior
In almost any college class you walk into you will find that there are more female students than
male. This wasn't the case years ago. David Thomas' article " The Mind of Man" points out that
women are progressing readily in today's society, but where are the men?
Years ago men were the only ones permitted into colleges. But as time went by people's ways of
thinking changed dramatically. People began to realize that girls were not getting the education boys
were, and things had to be changed. I think of this change, that society made, as a pendulum. Years
ago, the pendulum hung to one side. The side of boys' education. This side completely dismissed
girls education. Society wanted to fix this wrong by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today's society is vastly different from that of years past. Years ago, elementary teachers, along with
everybody else in society, put more emphasis on boys' education. This is understandable if we recall
that at that time men were the ones who were working and running the show, while the womans' job
was to stay home and tend to the children. At that time boys were treated fairly in the school system.
The boys' behaved rowdy and aggressive as boys do, but the teachers accepted it, to an extent,
because they understood that boys will be boys and that this was their natural behavior. The boys
would outgrow their anti–social behavior in due time. Unfortunately this isn't the case in today's
society. The society of today rewards feminine behavior and frowns upon what is considered
masculine behavior. Many female teachers, having been influenced by society, unconsciously frown
upon the behavior of their male students constantly. Thomas says that "there is a direct response
between a child's academic achievement and a favorable response from the teacher ." (122) If this is
true, which I believe it is, what messages are teachers giving to boys when their behavior is
constantly being criticized.
Today's society does not know how to tolerate kids' behaviors. For some reason we expect all boys

The Separation Of What A Boy Or A Girl
Stories surround most young children in a pleasant way. As soon as they will listen to a book, they
are shown different adventures and characters that they are supposed to wish to be. When they
finally pick out books for themselves there seems to be an idea of a divide between what a boy will
choose to read and what a girl will. This anxiety is not new, but instead the product of thoughts
founded back in the 19th century. Although not as present in today's literature, the separation of
what a boy or a girl will read is still presented as if it a problem in the book market. Children's
novels began not just as tools just for the benefit of literacy, but as ideal characters to model
behavior. In the 19th century the American Sunday School Union began to create books for children
that would help develop morally (Foreman, History of Adolescent Literature). These literature books
had obvious religious themes and presented didactic lessons meant to show children the
consequences of failing to be proper. A perfect example of this kind of novel is Hubert Lee: Or How
a Boy May do Good, by Herbert Lee. The very introduction of this book announces its intentions,
"The author trusts [this book] will be read with interest, and every child will resolve, by God's help,
to 'go and do likewise.'"(i, Lee). The idea was that a novel was to not be solely for pleasure, but it
should do something to advance the children's idea of how to act in the world. This idea was
developed further to fit

Symbolism Of The Boy In Mccarthy Mccarthy
In a ruined post apocalyptic world, it seems they only have each other. The man and the boy, each
with a desire to protect one another. The boy is all the man has and the man is all the boy has. The
boy is very intelligent and mature for his age it is quite surprising, it seems to me as if the boy holds
the mind of an adult. The way he carries himself and handles the situations he encounters, he does
not act like most kids his age. He has lived in some very harsh conditions, and still only manages to
put others first before him. Like the characters whose house he stayed in or even those who tried to

The ending is written is past tense and things are spoken in a way that signifies no return. I am very
hopeful that the boy will have the ability to start over and recreate a new life for him with his new
family. His ability to make the best of every situation is what makes me believe without a doubt he
is going to live a happy healthy life. Throughout the novel the relationship with the man and the boy
just goes to show their endless love for one another and how they would be nothing without one
another, them being together is the only thing that allows the to remain hopeful through their
journey. And that is exactly why hope is the main trait that surrounds the novel. Through all the
depression and tough times they still are able to remain hopeful. The boy being so young and he is
endowed with exceptional qualities and abilities, and a very prominent attribute to the book is
morality. And the author uses the novel to show the little things in life that make life meaningful.
And the boy in the road represents a new type of person, embarking on his journey to live in a new

The Pony Boy Characterisation
Intro:
In one view, characterisation is the device that enables writers to unpack a character's qualities. Pony
Boy, the protagonist in S.E. Hinton's teen drama, the Outsiders (1967), is portrayed as poor
unfortunate boy living on the filthy uneducated side of the town. However, characterisation is more
than just a device that describes a character. Characterisation is also symbolic. Pony Boy is not only
an alienated teen, he represents all kids in the same position as him in real life, the unlucky kids who
aren't presented with all the opportunities like most kids are. It is this second view of
characterisation that allows readers to be given an insight into what it is be like Pony boy, and from
this insight we sympathise with real life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The language that depicts Ponyboy's actions also reflects Hinton's agenda to make us feel sorry for
Ponyboy. For example, in the scene where Pony boy and Johnny are walking home from the movies
with cherry and the socs pull up in the blue mustang, Hinton writes: " It's ain't fair" I cried
passionately " It aint fair that we have all the rough breaks"
This passages shows ponyboy is starting to get fed up with the way him and the other greasers are
treated in the town. Notice that we are feeling sorrow and compassion for ponyboy and his situation
because of the language used in this scence. The quote is motivated by the socs pulling up and
stealing back their girls and treating ponyboy and the other greasers like shit, as if there on two
different levels, ponyboy then think about his situation and makes the comment pictured above. In
the dialogue and from other examples, readers can also see that ponyboy is beginning to except that
greasers will always be mistreated. For example when he says , "it ain't fair we have all the rought
breaks," this shows that ponyboy doesn't like the fact he is a greaser. The language used in this
quotes force us feel sorrow and compassion for ponyboy especially since he did nothing to deserve
the horrible position he was born into
Conclusion:
What this analysis of Outsiders shows is that characterisation isn't just a device for shaping stories,
it's a device for making us, the

The fictional life and death of a twelve year old little boy named Robert is vividly articulated in this
moving tale by Thomas Wolfe. The reader learns of the boy's life through four well developed points
of view. The reader's first glimpse into Robert's character is expressed through a third person
narrative. This section takes place on a particularly important afternoon in the boy's life. The second
and third views are memories of the child, through the eyes of his mother and sister. His mother
paints the picture of an extraordinary child whom she loved dearly and his sister illustrates the love
that the boy had for others. Finally, an account from the narrator is given in the ending. It is in the

"He only knew that something had been gained forever–something lost." (2007)
In the second and third portions of the saga the boy's mother and sister recall personal memories of
the deceased. The narrator is established as Robert's younger brother in these sections, as well. The
mother in this story unapologetically minimizes the narrator's abilities while exalting Robert. It is
not hard to see that Robert is their mother's favorite child. The proud mother gushes about the boy's
ability to stretch a dollar and his unnatural intellect. She goes so far as to tell a reporter inquiring
about the narrator's brilliance, that the narrator was not the most intelligent child she had given birth
to "The best one of the whole lot was– Robert!" (2010) The boys' sister seems to share her mother's
adoration for Robert and can't quite grasp the narrators inability to remember their beloved. She
also, reiterates that Robert was her mother's favorite child "you know he always was her eyeballs..."
(2014). In expressing to the narrator her memories of a past life where Robert was alive and well the
sister reveals her own inability to distinguish the past

Tom Boy Research Paper
not just a tom–boy
Through out my child hood I was referred to as "that girl boy" or a tom–boy. I thought I was just
another little boy but it turned out I wasn't. I never knew what was wrong with me until I started to
get older and learned terms to identify a person's sexuality and gender.
When I was about three years of age, my parents took me to Disney World. I was a small child
dressed in a pair of dark washed overalls and a freshly bleached white tshirt, we went into the first
store that I saw so I could buy a hat. I ended up getting a cowboy hat that represented Woody's from
toy story, while my parents had picked out a a pair of princess Minnie Mouse ears. I fought to get
the cowboy hat because I didn't want other boys to look at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I might have been a girl on the outside but I was a boy on the inside, that made so much sense. I
knew I was a boy.
As soon as my aunt picked me up she asked what we did and talked, I told her I was transgender and
was so excited about it. She didn't understand why I was so excited but to me that was the greatest
thing I had ever heard. I wasn't just that girl–boy or a tom–boy anymore. I was just a boy stuck
inside a girl's body.
I sat down my parents and told them once I arrived home from my vacation. They didn't understand
and didn't accept me. They both cried because they thought that meant that I would kill myself or
that I was a freak. I didn't understand because they had always told me that they would love me no
matter what.
At the age of seventeen, I was in my senior year of high school and I came out as transgender to all
of my friends. I had asked all of my friends to call me Shane and to refer to me as a boy, most of
them tried as hard as they could to get it right. They felt bad if they didn't get it right but I
understood. I told my parents that I wanted to legally change my name and change my gender but
my dad said no, my mom had started to come

How From Be A Boy

  • 1. How From Be A Boy HOW TO; Be a Boy "Oh my god you guys are so dumb!" says girl 1. "Why are you so immature?" and "Stop touching each other! Why are you always touching boys?" says teacher 1. "I don't understand why you boys have to be so wound up and wild" says teacher 2. "Your friends are so annoying." says girl 2 to her boyfriend. "I don't know why you all are a bunch of "dogs" all the time." These are all comments made in the direction of boys. We all know how boys tend to act, and I know it is annoying to most people, but these are some of the crucial steps to being a boy if you ask any girl at school. Loud and proud, we boys accept these comments. But is there more to guys than just what is seen by the naked eye? What I am going to teach you today is the proper way to be a boy. The first step to being a boy is being dumb. This means laughing at dumb stuff including: goofy walks, voices, gestures, impersonations of people, when teachers say something inappropriate, and sometimes even farts or coughs. If you have not pissed someone off or grossed someone out by doing this, you are not succeeding at your expectation of being a boy. Yes, we are an odd species. This brings me to the next step. The second step is to be gross. To be gross, you must have poor manners while eating, farting and burping in public areas, and even not showering for a couple days. The grosser the better when it comes to being a boy. I know not showering can become extreme, but it is very important to get as gross ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Boy By Roald Dahl Boy Quotes Boy In Roald Dahl's book Boy, Dahl described his life as a child. His childhood was full of violence and delights. This statement is true. Some examples of violent experiences in his life were visits to the doctor, the boazers and caning. However, Boy also had a holiday in Norway and took great delight in pranking Mrs Pratchett, the owner of the candy shop. When Dahl was a young child he experienced a painful removal of his adenoids by the local doctor. Boy was whisked to the doctor and he thought nothing violent would happen to him. To his surprise, the doctor secured him to a chair, heated a red–hot iron blade and plunged the blade into his mouth. The doctor gave it a quick twist, and then pulled it out. The boat weaves in and out between countless tiny islands." Apart from the journey to Norway, when his grandmother fully convinced herself that they were most certainly going to die, Boy seemed to enjoy the experience. Dahl loved the beautiful tranquillity and the sound of the ocean. Although his hotel was pitifully basic, the meals were a sight to behold. Dahl's breakfasts were mouth watering dishes such as spiced and pickled herrings or perfectly crisped rolls. For dinner, Dahl would eat poached flounder with vivid orange spots with hollandaise sauce that immensely enhanced the flavour of the fish. Dahl also adored the family's motorboat. In the evening they would zoom back and forth breathing in the fresh air and enjoy the wind ruffle their hair. • 9. Boys Rite Of Passage Essay Mukanda – Boys Rite of Passage A boy's rite of passage for becoming a man is called a Mukanda. This begins between the age of ten and twelve and is announced when a masked, garbed creature (or makishi) travels from village to village announcing when an upcoming Mukanda is about to occur ( "Mbunda" 2007 ). The boys usually live three to six months away from home at a bush camp and are taught survival–skills, knowledge about nature, religion, social practices and values ("Mbunda people" 2014). One of the rituals that's done is putting on a mask (that represents their ancestors' spirits in order to deliver positive supernatural influences to their community) and dance. The young men who make their own mask typically make them from a wicker frame as a base and add on materials such as, bent twigs and branches and bark cloth (Wagner 2013; Jordán 2014). These masks are made in the initiation camps and are burned afterwards. Masks that are made by professionals are made in privacy where women and boys wouldn't be able to figure out any of the mukanda's secrets. Generally the professional makes ... Then the fetish pole will be placed where the evil spirit is expected to be, by rubbing the animals blood on the pole the Mbunda are showing respect and honor to God and the spirits. • 11. The Black Of Black Boys 2. (A) Hook (2004) hits on a few key notes as to why black men are so angry and they all stem from the idea that manhood is synonymous with the domination and control over others. By being male they are in a position of authority that gives them the right to assert their will over others, to use coercion and or violence to gain and maintain power. This train of thought starts with what role men and women play in patriarchal culture. Being raised in this manner little boys are not allowed to express feelings and emotions. If they do, it's generally associated with being weak. Many black parents feel it is crucial to train boys to be "tough." Black boys are daily victimized by toxic shaming. In the black culture there is little concern about the emotional wellbeing of black boys. Many young black boys are conditioned to be victims by emotional abuse, experienced at home and at school. Emotionally abused black boys are filled with rage. Primed to act out they become adults who are rageoholics. There is often so much attention given the concrete material manifestations of the impact of racism and other forms of social oppression on black males that the psychological impact of early childhood abandonment is not highlighted. Black males are unable to think creatively about their lives because of their uncritical acceptance of narrow life–scripts shaped by patriarchal thinking. Hooks refers to such victimization and shaming as soul murdering. Soul murder is the psychological term ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His lack ofcommunication inhibits his ability to belong early onthe in the film, and is not broken until he findscommon ground with his classmates and imitates histeacher "Now". 3. Essay On Stereotypes Of Boys Many things and many problems appear to all people in all ages but when we say boys we talk about our future and the main treasure, and here we talk about boys will be boys which refer to one thing. we should treat boys according to their ages. Some boys find themselves depressed and want to commit crimes, why? this is a result of not being able to live their childhood in societies which treat them differently from girls. • 21. Socializing Boys Research Paper What are the negative effects of socializing boys to fear weakness in our society? Most of the time we hear stories about women facing the pressures of fitting in with societies expectations of being a woman. From the supermodels on magazine covers to a simple television ad, women feel as though they have a specific stereotype to live up to. Though, women are not alone men also feel pressured by society and the media to fit a certain gender role. While women are taught to express themselves and be the fostering, nurtures, men are encouraged to be courageous, tolerate pain, and confront danger, men also have stereotypes to fulfill. Men's magazines and posters often contain pictures of what the media describes as "manly." From an early age, boys are taught to be tough and physical. Male role models that we always see are athletes and strong heroes, but they are also are war heroes who have grown their infamy through vicious actions. Boys are born affectionate beings, but at a very young age, they are taught the behaviors, language, and mentality that aligns them with society's idea of what it means to be a man. Society needs to stop socializing boys to fear weakness because there are negative effects, such as being forced to wear the "male role" mask trying to prove themselves a man, hiding their emotions, and violence. There is a common misconception that men don't go through the pressures that society enforces on them. Young boys learn how they should act and look, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But are there any femininity examples shown? This film, in which females are absent except for a stalwart grandmother, displays no actual females. The two that were displayed were not really significant in the film, for example the two little girls playing patty–cake as the Long Bay Correctional Complex lurks in the background. Also shown were the moms of some of the young boys that joined the Bra Boys. This whole film revolves around males and their masculinity of their community and lifestyle. • 34. The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas Innocence The novel "The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas" written by John Boyne, shows the impact of a child's innocent perspective leading to significant events during the horrific time of the Holocaust. Bruno, the main protagonist tells a tale of exploration and his formation of an unlikely friendship while living in Nazi occupied Poland during WW2. Throughout the text, Bruno's lack of awareness of the cruel acts committed by those closest to him, including his Father, the Commandant, implements the nature of childhood innocence and its importance. In particular, Bruno's interactions with his Father, Gretel and Shmuel clearly display demonstrating innocence despite the atrocities of this dark period in history. The novel demonstrates how Bruno and Shmuel share a great deal in common but perhaps what is most striking is the childhood innocence which characterises both boys. Bruno is unaware that his father is a Nazi commandant and that he lives within yards of a concentration camp. Shmuel, imprisoned in the camp, seems not to understand the severity of his situation. When his father goes missing Shmuel does not understand that he actually went into the gas chamber, "He was here on Monday and then he went on work duty with some other men and none of them have come back."(p 194). While spending time together, being filled with purity, Shmuel tells Bruno of the horrific train experience that the Jews were forced through. "The doors were at the end," explained Bruno. Moving on, the boy acts younger than who he turly is. This can be shown when the author had written, "will he learn to grow up before it's too late?". The author explains how the boy is living in this world without a care. The boy is seen as immature and not reasonable. This means that the boy behaves differently depending on the people surrounding him. This could be due to his parents having very opposite personailties which resulted in the boy to have a combination of both. Moving on, the author notes how, "he's really much more like his Father and yet if you say so he'll pull a great face.". With this information, the boy appears to not have a close relationship with his father. This could be due to his parents living apart. • 41. Rick Moody's Boys The title of the story "Boys", by Rick Moody, is quite misleading. Although this is a story about boys, one often denotes that term to necessarily be referring to maleness. This story though, is lacking quite a bit of maleness and masculinity. As we see these two "boys" grow up in life, they lack the ability to grow into proper men, but rather stay as boys, at best. The boys are unable to become men, due to the women in their life limiting them to a feminine nature, and only when everyone in their life is gone are the boys able to grow into real men. This story is not just a simple biographical narrative, but a Bildungsroman, completely concerned with the gender roles and growth of the boys. One might assume this to mean that they leave and do not come back, however, they are never seen to leave the house, rather, they simply stay in the house constantly and therefore are unable to re– enter. Their act of staying in the private sphere indicates not only their consistency within their femininity but being completely engulfed in it. This is further seen in the statement of "boys as an absence of boys" (416). Although they are still male in sex, they are not truly male in gender. Eventually, though, the boys "enter the house, which they ultimately must do" (416). This indicates to us that they did eventually leave the private sphere again, and now that they have left and come back, we never see of the mother again. As the boys return home they are finally preparing to get married boasting a "beard, neatly trimmed" and "denim". This combination is one that speaks to assured masculinity. Furthermore, the boys now participate in fishing and spending time with their father again, activities they are only able to do now that their mother is gone. As the mother is never said to have died as the other characters in this story, it is unlikely that she left physically, but rather that the boys realized she had been holding them back from growing as men and cut her out of their ... The film does a good job emphasizing the normality of Ricky's daily life experiences, while also including important distinguishing features. The film portrays LGBTQ individuals in a humanistic way such that the viewer empathizes with Ricky. As Bruno and his friends are playfully running through the streets of Berlin, the sun is shining and the picture is bright. In contrast, Bruno's home when he finds out that his family is moving is dark and gloomy. Once again, the director uses the lighting to display Bruno's emotions. When Bruno is with his friends, the shining light indicates his happiness. However, when Bruno discovers that he is leaving his friends, the dark lighting displays Bruno's dismal feeling. Similarly, the same concepts are used in the later stages of the film. As Bruno wanders into the backyard, he finds the shed with a window, a possible route to the "farm". As Bruno looks up at the window, the light shining through the open window is vibrant. This bright light represents Bruno's escape from this place without friends to the farm where friendship surely awaits him. Finally, the director uses lighting in scenes with both Bruno and Shmuel to show their friendship. • 57. Boys And Girls Summary " A woman' job is to keep her man happy." This has been the societal expectation for girls or women rather, for centuries. If a marriage fails, the first concern is, did the wife satisfy her man in their marriage. Boys are expected to be the providers, while girls are to stay at home and keep her mister happy and satisfied as for as he is the one sustaining for their needs. A. Munro used "Boys and Girls" to convey the idea that males are prominent to females in the society because it exhibits the important duties, titles and privileges that are compiled to boys but remotely to girls. When girls try to prove their worth in the society, they are obstructed with situations. Situations that they may experience starting from a young age, such as the need to stay home in order to be trained by the women figures in the family and be able to fulfill the duties that awaits them later in life; becoming a wife and a mother, precisely as the society expects them to be. Moreover, they are neglected to be given the chance to perform tasks that are envisioned to be difficult and manly. Tasks such as working in a farm. The protagonist in the story is a girl who prefers manly duties and have had a hard time accepting her true purpose in life. She perceived the roles associated with women, not as important as the duties given to males. For example, her mother's duty is to stay home to make sure that all the daily household chores are completed. Not to mention, her mother serves as a helpful ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 59. Why Are Boys Dirty Why do boys like to get dirty? It's a mystery to so many people! Sisters and mothers and neighborhood girls scoff at the immaturity and Neanderthal nature of the activity in which boys partake in immersing themselves in filth. Growing up there is some kind of fascination with grime and dust and sweat and most of all mud. Almost every boy grew up with a sand box where he could at least get somewhat dirty. In our youth, we boys would spend hours digging holes in the backyard, building forts in the woods, riding dirt bikes, building dams in the rain, only to return home to the frowns upon our mom's faces at the state of our clothes and bodies. But of course we loved every minute of it, and dreaded the time when we had to take a bath, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the lack of rain had turned the tiny cove into a shoe–swallowing, waist deep acre of muck and mire. Standing on the wooden platform that regularly served as a floating dock, I watched my companion journey across this small wasteland to retrieve a fishing net, long abandoned at the bottom of the lake. Excitement overwhelmed me when after a few steps, I saw him lurch forward as the wet ground appeared to swallow him up to his hams. I could not resist plunging in with him, and the next six hours were spent in this wonderland, swimming and sinking and laughing in the slime. There is a sense of freedom and recklessness and power and rejection of responsibility that accompanies the male as he submerges himself in the land of dirt. He finds freedom in forgetting all cares of what his mother or father will think, so he can do what he wants. In not caring he becomes reckless, allowing his masculine wild side to show its colors, forgetting about stained clothes, and matted hair. He'll run free and get dirty, ignoring the consequences because he knows they are small. He loves to get dirty so he can prove that he can survive. He wants to know that he can live in nature and overcome it, and the dirt is evidence of his survival, similar to the way old soldiers take pride in their battle scars. Playing in dirt has been a major way many a boy has expressed his masculinity and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 61. Just A Boy Thing Is it Really Just a Boy Thing? One of the most talked about debates in education is the widening achievement difference between male and female students. It has been debated for more than a decade why male students are falling behind in the educational system. There is significant evidence to believe that this is a phenomenon. However, there is not a concrete answer as to why male students are lacking academically. This leads to two possible lines of thinking about gender gaps: Either they represent innate differences in boys' and girls' abilities because of genetic make up, or they represent the biases of how schools treat boys and girls and that is the reason in differences academically. According to a 2010 report by the Center on Education ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Boys are more likely to be suspended, retained in grade or placed in special education. A 2012 study by Christopher Cornwell, head of the economics department at the University of Georgia, and colleagues found that boys on average score 15 percent lower on an assessment of non–cognitive skills (engagement in class, ability to sit calmly, interpersonal skills) than girls. Argued, this could be possibly be because the opportunities for boys to be exposed to male role models are distinctively disadvantaged across the nation by the dominance of women in teaching. Some have posited that female teachers instinctively reinforce "female" behavior and fail to acknowledge, and even punish, the gender–specific behaviors of boys. According to Cox, boys often feel alienated in school from the earliest grades. They feel as though it's a place they don't belong, where their particular ways of processing are not valued. He says. "Very often, we're pathologizing boys for being boys. They are being treated as less–than members of a classroom, and people who are deficient or insufficient in a number of ways." This is believed to be because it is necessary to teach boys, at young ages, strategies to connect and communicate, to build their communication competency. That might involve learning how to give compliments or cultivating a conscience. In schools, Cox advocates social–skills groups, where teachers and students have conversations and students learn to voice their opinions. While research shows that male teachers in the lower grades improve the likability of school for boys, it does not necessarily translate into stronger academic outcomes. All–boys schools also have mixed results. "There's been a proliferation of same–sex schools and classrooms in public schooling," Davis says. "We would love to see more achievement outcomes." He reminds that urban schools, in particular, struggle with issues of teacher ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 63. Boys' Antisocial Behavior Essay Boys' Antisocial Behavior In almost any college class you walk into you will find that there are more female students than male. This wasn't the case years ago. David Thomas' article " The Mind of Man" points out that women are progressing readily in today's society, but where are the men? Years ago men were the only ones permitted into colleges. But as time went by people's ways of thinking changed dramatically. People began to realize that girls were not getting the education boys were, and things had to be changed. I think of this change, that society made, as a pendulum. Years ago, the pendulum hung to one side. The side of boys' education. This side completely dismissed girls education. Society wanted to fix this wrong by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Today's society is vastly different from that of years past. Years ago, elementary teachers, along with everybody else in society, put more emphasis on boys' education. This is understandable if we recall that at that time men were the ones who were working and running the show, while the womans' job was to stay home and tend to the children. At that time boys were treated fairly in the school system. The boys' behaved rowdy and aggressive as boys do, but the teachers accepted it, to an extent, because they understood that boys will be boys and that this was their natural behavior. The boys would outgrow their anti–social behavior in due time. Unfortunately this isn't the case in today's society. The society of today rewards feminine behavior and frowns upon what is considered masculine behavior. Many female teachers, having been influenced by society, unconsciously frown upon the behavior of their male students constantly. Thomas says that "there is a direct response between a child's academic achievement and a favorable response from the teacher ." (122) If this is true, which I believe it is, what messages are teachers giving to boys when their behavior is constantly being criticized. Today's society does not know how to tolerate kids' behaviors. For some reason we expect all boys and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 65. The Separation Of What A Boy Or A Girl Stories surround most young children in a pleasant way. As soon as they will listen to a book, they are shown different adventures and characters that they are supposed to wish to be. When they finally pick out books for themselves there seems to be an idea of a divide between what a boy will choose to read and what a girl will. This anxiety is not new, but instead the product of thoughts founded back in the 19th century. Although not as present in today's literature, the separation of what a boy or a girl will read is still presented as if it a problem in the book market. Children's novels began not just as tools just for the benefit of literacy, but as ideal characters to model behavior. In the 19th century the American Sunday School Union began to create books for children that would help develop morally (Foreman, History of Adolescent Literature). These literature books had obvious religious themes and presented didactic lessons meant to show children the consequences of failing to be proper. A perfect example of this kind of novel is Hubert Lee: Or How a Boy May do Good, by Herbert Lee. The very introduction of this book announces its intentions, "The author trusts [this book] will be read with interest, and every child will resolve, by God's help, to 'go and do likewise.'"(i, Lee). The idea was that a novel was to not be solely for pleasure, but it should do something to advance the children's idea of how to act in the world. This idea was developed further to fit ... • 67. Symbolism Of The Boy In Mccarthy Mccarthy In a ruined post apocalyptic world, it seems they only have each other. The man and the boy, each with a desire to protect one another. The boy is all the man has and the man is all the boy has. The boy is very intelligent and mature for his age it is quite surprising, it seems to me as if the boy holds the mind of an adult. The way he carries himself and handles the situations he encounters, he does not act like most kids his age. He has lived in some very harsh conditions, and still only manages to put others first before him. Like the characters whose house he stayed in or even those who tried to hurt him. But I believe the boy represents so much more than we perceive him as. The boy in the novel represents a child prodigy of a sort he is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I am very hopeful that the boy will have the ability to start over and recreate a new life for him with his new family. Throughout the novel the relationship with the man and the boy just goes to show their endless love for one another and how they would be nothing without one another, them being together is the only thing that allows the to remain hopeful through their journey. And that is exactly why hope is the main trait that surrounds the novel. Through all the depression and tough times they still are able to remain hopeful. The boy being so young and he is endowed with exceptional qualities and abilities, and a very prominent attribute to the book is morality. And the author uses the novel to show the little things in life that make life meaningful. And the boy in the road represents a new type of person, embarking on his journey to live in a new world. • 69. The Pony Boy Characterisation Intro: In one view, characterisation is the device that enables writers to unpack a character's qualities. Pony Boy, the protagonist in S.E. Hinton's teen drama, the Outsiders (1967), is portrayed as poor unfortunate boy living on the filthy uneducated side of the town. However, characterisation is more than just a device that describes a character. Characterisation is also symbolic. Pony Boy is not only an alienated teen, he represents all kids in the same position as him in real life, the unlucky kids who aren't presented with all the opportunities like most kids are. It is this second view of characterisation that allows readers to be given an insight into what it is be like Pony boy, and from this insight we sympathise with real life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The language that depicts Ponyboy's actions also reflects Hinton's agenda to make us feel sorry for Ponyboy. For example, in the scene where Pony boy and Johnny are walking home from the movies with cherry and the socs pull up in the blue mustang, Hinton writes: " It's ain't fair" I cried passionately " It aint fair that we have all the rough breaks" This passages shows ponyboy is starting to get fed up with the way him and the other greasers are treated in the town. Notice that we are feeling sorrow and compassion for ponyboy and his situation because of the language used in this scence. The quote is motivated by the socs pulling up and stealing back their girls and treating ponyboy and the other greasers like shit, as if there on two different levels, ponyboy then think about his situation and makes the comment pictured above. In the dialogue and from other examples, readers can also see that ponyboy is beginning to except that greasers will always be mistreated. For example when he says , "it ain't fair we have all the rought breaks," this shows that ponyboy doesn't like the fact he is a greaser. The language used in this quotes force us feel sorrow and compassion for ponyboy especially since he did nothing to deserve the horrible position he was born into Conclusion: What this analysis of Outsiders shows is that characterisation isn't just a device for shaping stories, it's a device for making us, the ... The reader learns of the boy's life through four well developed points of view. The reader's first glimpse into Robert's character is expressed through a third person narrative. This section takes place on a particularly important afternoon in the boy's life. The second and third views are memories of the child, through the eyes of his mother and sister. His mother paints the picture of an extraordinary child whom she loved dearly and his sister illustrates the love that the boy had for others. (2007) In the second and third portions of the saga the boy's mother and sister recall personal memories of the deceased. The narrator is established as Robert's younger brother in these sections, as well. The mother in this story unapologetically minimizes the narrator's abilities while exalting Robert. It is not hard to see that Robert is their mother's favorite child. The proud mother gushes about the boy's ability to stretch a dollar and his unnatural intellect. She goes so far as to tell a reporter inquiring about the narrator's brilliance, that the narrator was not the most intelligent child she had given birth to "The best one of the whole lot was– Robert!" (2010) The boys' sister seems to share her mother's adoration for Robert and can't quite grasp the narrators inability to remember their beloved. She also, reiterates that Robert was her mother's favorite child "you know he always was her eyeballs..." (2014). Analysis Of The Poem ' The Stone Boy ' According to American industrial designer Adam Savage, " one of the defining moments of adulthood is the realization that nobody's going to take care of you."
