• The Fashion Design Department is the largest department in the School of
Fashion, Styling and Textiles.
• We offer 4 year undergraduate programs as well as two Post Graduate
Programs in Fashion Design; Fashion Styling and Image Design; and
Fashion Media Communication.
• In each of the above we also have 1 year programmes.

5. SO WHAT IS FASHION DESIGN ALL ABOUT
• In this course the students learn to create as well as make Clothes.
• Learn to ideate and conceptualize designs.
• Cut, stitch, drape and embellish.
• Learn to match the design with the fabrics.
• Create lines or ranges of apparel based on the Fashion Forecast and what
the client needs.
• They are designers with their individual identity.

• As the name suggests, they learn how to style the garments that the

• Students learn all about Fashion and Silhouettes, but they do not make
the clothes.
• They only Style the clothes – they put looks together; based on the theme
and the stories.
• Stylists work with Designers and help them enhance the look they have
created.
• Stylists put together the Accessories like bags; shoes; eyewear; make up;
hair etc.

8. FASHION STYLING AND IMAGE DESIGN
HOW IS IT DIFFERENT TO FASHION DESIGN?
• Stylists learn all about design and fashion but they do not make clothes.
• They also learn the nuances of hair, make up, photography and they
create looks based on what the designers have made.
• Stylists work with designers.
• Stylists understand Fashion but also understand how to put looks together.
• Work to a brief.
