Ohio State University Traffic Investigation Report
Introduction
Maintaining a safe environment for all students, staff, and visitors on campus is one of the Ohio
State University's greatest concerns. As one of the most common and dangerous threats to student
safety, traffic safety is always a vital consideration. Due to pedestrian complaints, the university has
directed their attention Woody Hayes Drive and Olentangy River Road. The team has been
appointed to approach this issue using a spot speed method. The purpose of this experiment was to
collect and evaluate traffic speed data in the area in order to determine if further action from the
university is necessary to improve traffic safety.
The next section, experimental methodology, describes how the experiment was setup, carried out,
and the conditions in which the experiment took place. Section 3 displays the results that were
obtained from the experimental procedure, as well as provides a brief description as how the data
were evaluated. Section 4 attempts to create a logical interpretation as to what the results mean, as
well as identify any potential errors that may have skewed the results. Finally, section 5 summarizes
the report, and suggests conclusions for the results posed throughout the experiment and potential
solutions to errors discussed in section 4.

To determine this interval, a ruler was used to find two points on the curve in Figure A1 whose
horizontal distance between such points equaled ten miles per hour. Those two points were
determined to be the end limits of the pace. Since the cumulative frequency and frequency graphs
shared an x axis, vertical lines were drawn down from these two points and used to find the
cumulative percent limits of 88% and 15%. The difference between the two percent limits
determined the percent of vehicles traveling within the pace. This yielded 88%–15%=73% of total
vehicles lie between the

The Waste Of The State Of America 's Food Waste
Mr. Wisland, I have been doing research on food waste in Athens, Ohio. The goal of my research is
to find a plausible solution to the waste. To begin the gathering of information, I searched through
the Ohio University ArticlesPlus Database to find any journals that I could find pertaining to the
state of America's food waste, how we can make a difference, and what has already been
implemented to make a change. This was my way of looking at the amount of food wasted from a
bigger perspective. I found four sources on the issue as a whole, to which I have included in my
annotated bibliography. All sources have a primary focus on statistics of food waste in America, and
finding a solution to the problem that we have created. The statistics ... Show more content on

The easiest way to reach all consumers at large would to host media campaigns through
commercials, television, news articles, and anything else along those lines. It is vital that consumers
learn because around 73% of consumers think that they waste less than the average person, however,
there is still over $165 billion worth of food wasted. From there, I knew that I had to dig into food
waste just a bit deeper to find the information that I needed pertaining to Athens, Ohio. I searched
for sustainability and food waste programs or groups on Ohio University's campus to find out just
how bad food waste is in our town. I found two different groups: Athens' Food Rescue, and Athens
Hocking Recycling Center. Both of these groups have a similar mission, and that is to reduce food
waste, promote environmental health, and building a community around the food in Athens county
that would normally be thrown away. Athens' Food Rescue was one of my favorite groups to listen
to as they collect surplus food from places around Athens and redistribute it to the homeless, hungry,
or low income people. In my opinion, this is the best solution to food waste in Athens, as we are
living in one of the most low–income towns in all of Ohio. I learned that Athens Hocking Recycling
Center offers compost services throughout all of Hocking and Athens. They offer five, seven, or

Becoming A Graduate Degree At The Ohio State University
People have a hard time figuring out what they were meant to do in life, leading to numerous jobs
before they settle on one. Sometimes these struggles to find what they are meant to do, lead people
to completely changing career fields. I believed that my purpose in life, as I entered college, was to
help lead the young people of today. While finishing up my bachelors degree in Elementary and
Middle Childhood Studies at The Ohio State University, I knew that I wanted to continue my
education and obtain a masters degree. Throughout my entire undergrad, I spent time as a varsity
football assistant coach. That feeling of wanting to lead along with my coaching experience
influenced me to pursue a graduate degree through a program deeply rooted in leadership.
With the amount of broken homes and divorce rate at an all time high, kids do not look to their
parents for guidance anymore, instead they look at celebrities. Younger generations have always
been easily influenced by what they see in society. If they see someone popular on tv doing
something or wearing something, they have to do their best to mimic it. Nowadays the things that
our young people are seeing are leading to negative consequences in their life. They make choices
based on what they see instead of the values that their parents should have been teaching them. Once
those choices do not workout, those same kids look for someone to blame because they have never
been held accountable for their choices before. Being in a

Personal Narrative: My Trip To The Ohio State University
We all have memories from our childhood, which will never leave our memory no matter how old
we may get. Up until I was about 8 years old, I lived in the Victorian Village community in a very
old apartment complex that was originally a house that was, awkwardly, broken up into sections to
create the different apartment arrangements. While I was living there, I remember going to the
Northside library every day in the summer to practice my reading, to Thompson Recreation Center
and Goodale Park to play on the playground and with other kids, along with many other great
memories. It was during this time I knew attending college was inevitably in my future. During that
time, my older sister was attending the Ohio State University. My father, on

Jesse Owens Accomplishments
Jesse Owens was born on September 12, 1913 , Alabama .U.S , grandson of a slave . When Jesse
Owens was five, he developed a bump on his chest that was pressing against his lungs. His family
was too poor to afford a doctor so his mother and father performed the surgery with a kitchen knife.
In 1928 Jesse set Junior High School high jump and broad jump records. Jesse Owens won the Ohio
state championship track events for three years in a row. Jesse Owens got the nickname Buckeye
Bullet at Ohio State University because of the records he set.
After the Olympics Jesse Owens was still struggling for money and often raced against horses,
motorcycles and dogs for money. Owens response when asked about these races was, "I had four

The Importance Of The Ohio State University
When I was choosing my college, I looked at a lot of different factors. These factors included the
location of the college, the school's diversity rate, and the rank of the college. I also spent a lot of
time researching in–state colleges because tuition was cheaper and only certain in–state schools
would take all my college credit plus courses, which started me off as a sophomore here at the
University of Cincinnati. One huge deciding factor was if I felt that I could make a difference at the
university or not. When I went on my UC college tour the area reminded me of home and I felt that I
would've been able to make an impact at the school and the environment, I felt that I would be more
than just a number. I applied to a few other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a freshman at the University of Cincinnati I am trying to put myself in the best predicament to be
successful for the future me. As of now I am going to China in December on a study abroad trip to
get a better understanding of business world, explore the culture, and most importantly to learn and
grow as an African American man. I am also in the process of getting an internship in Washington
D.C. in the Spring of 2018. If I receive this Internship this will make me an even stronger applicant
for future jobs and internships me achieve my overall goal of making the world a better place. UC
offers a lot of resources here on campus and if taken advantage of, they could ensure success at the
university. I plan on utilizing the AACRC (African–American Culture and Resource Center) the
most because I feel that the students and faculty really care about my wellbeing, they have also been
a home away from home making sure that I settle in at UC well. The LAC, library, MASS, academic
advisor, and mentors are also amazing resources that the campus offers that I currently use and I
plan on continuing to do so during my time here at the University.
At this point in my life I believe that becoming an Marketing Manager will be my career goal. As a

Compare And Contrast Texas To Ohio State University
In my paper I will discuss the different staff, facilities, and programs that both of the universities
have. Both schools are great school, but each has very different Rec Sports and facilities. Just by
looking at the pictures from both facilities, I would say that they are really nice and up to date. So I
will compare and contrast Texas A&M to Ohio State University.
The first university that I will talk about is Texas A&M, who has over 12,000 students who
participate each year. They also have over 34 different programs that students can do for free.
Intramural sports is a big part of any university. Texas has over 12,000 students that participate in

Synthesis Essay : The Ohio State University

Jim Tressel
The Ohio State University is home to one of the best college football teams in America. The
university has a rich history where several famous players and coaches have emerged. One famous
coach in particular is Jim Tressel, who coached at Ohio State from 2001 until 2011. During his
tenure, he had a winning record that came to an abrupt end as a result of multiple ethics violations.
Tressel's full range leadership, critical thinking, team dynamics and ethical behaviors will be
examined in this thesis. Based on the information found in the study guides, Tressel is a visionary
leader who was not ethical. Despite a lapse in ethics, he led the Buckeyes for nearly a decade with a
vision to win, and he did just that.
Visionary Leader Using the Full Range Leadership and Team Dynamics lessons, it's easy to see why
Tressel is a visionary leader. He took over for the Buckeyes after a loosing season and multiple
losses to Michigan. In the land of Buck–nuts, winning on Saturday after Thanksgiving against
Michigan is the most important game of the year. According to the Barnes Center for Enlisted
Education, Team Dynamics, mission effectiveness is defined as "when the team process is executed
effectively, a team can be used to pool the ideas and experiences of its members in search for a
collective outcome." (BCEE, 2016d) Tressel not only took a loosing

Ohio State University Student Analysis
While an undergraduate at The Ohio State University I was very active in school clubs and
recreational sports. I was the Vice President of the Portuguese Club and was a member of the
Promotions team for the local radio station. I volunteered at a dog shelter and with foster boys living
in a group home. I was also a trip leader in university and led a group of seven university students to
Atlanta, GA to work with teenagers in a low–performing school. This involved handling the budget
and activities for the group. I enjoy volunteering and doing extra activities to make university life
more well–rounded.
I did not have any particularly different difficulties in university. I had many of the same stresses
other people had but did not handle them as well. my desire to learn as much as I could led to me
being over stretched, which contributed to my low grades. I was always usually working to make

The future may be uncertain that injects fear into the minds of some people. When it comes to me, I

discover something I am passionate about. In the beginning, I expected to be a clinical pharmacist at
a hospital, since I had taken a pharmacy degree with clinical pharmacy major. Nevertheless, the food

related to the innovation and development of functional foods.

After five more minutes of anxiously awaiting, my grandma came down the stairs at the speed that

A Research Study At Ohio State University
5 Leadership Running Head Leadership Two large studies found that two types of leader behaviors
were important concepts in leadership skills. While the two separate studies used different terms,
they can be thought of as concern for people and concern for tasks. The study at Ohio State
University identified these two behaviors: Consideration relationship behaviors, such as respect and
trust concern for people. Initiating Structure task behaviors, such as organizing, scheduling and
seeing that work is completed concern for tasks. The study at the University of Michigan identified
these two behaviors (Joyce, 2012). Employee Orientation approaching employees with a strong
human relations orientation concern for people. Production Orientation stressing the technical and
production aspect of the job concern for tasks. The researchers from Michigan State thought of these
two behaviors at opposite ends of a single continuum. Thus, a leader could be strong with one of
these two behaviors, but would be weaker in the opposite one (Joyce, 2012). The Ohio State studies
viewed these two behaviors as distinct and independent. That is, a leader could be high or low in one
or both behaviors. For example, in the U. S. Army one of the most important rules is to take care of
your soldiers and complete the mission task; a leader should be good with both. Bad leaders can do
neither, nor do just one but not the other (Joyce, 2012). The notion that just two dimensions

Experience On-Campus Community Service In The Ohio State...
For this assignment, I went to the Ohio State University Hillel Center and was able to experience
on–campus religious life. Throughout the experience, there was definitely a feeling of community
and inclusiveness. Even though the congregation separated into different groups for the actual
service, they began the ceremony together and ended it together. Before the groups separated for
their respective services, everyone congregated for the lighting of the candles in the lobby and after
each service, everyone congregated for kiddush before going to dinner. Despite the fact that there
were two separate services occurring at the same time, Conservative and Reform, there did not seem
to be any disdain towards the other, as was the case ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, those leading singing prayers could switch the tune in which the prayer was sung to.
One of the singing prayers had the tune changed in the middle. The last prayer of the service was
sung to the tune of Carmen Ohio. In several of the clips of Shabbat services that we watched in
class, we noticed that men and women were separated. However, at the Hillel center, there was no
separation; men and women could sit together. However, in the service I went to, there were more
men than women in the congregation, but after reconvening at the end of the services, it seemed to
me that there were more men in overall attendance than women. In observing clips in class, we also
noted that in many cases, women were dressed very conservatively and some men wore religious
garb. All of the men at the services were dressed on the dressier side of everyday clothing; most
wore yarmulke during the service, and some took it off afterwards, while some left it on. I'm
assuming this has to do with differences between different sects of their religion, or perhaps the way
they were raised. The women were also dressed on the dressier side of everyday clothing, and many
were for the most part, modestly dressed. The people at the Hillel center were also very welcoming
of new people who may not know exactly what is going on. Before and during the service, a man
who works at the center explained what was going on. He explained the lighting of

Roy Lichtenstein was born in New York City on October 27th, 1923. He described his childhood as
quiet and uneventful. His father was a realtor; his mother was a housewife. Art was not taught at the
school Roy attended, but when he turned fourteen he began taking Saturday morning classes at the
Parson' School of Design. After he graduated from high school in 1940 he attended the School of
Fine Art at Ohio State University. He was drafted however in 1943 in the middle of his education at

In 1969 he was given a retrospective at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York.
His career as an artist mainly started in 1951, he usually painted cowboys and Indians in various
modern art styles. In 1957 he tried his hand at Abstract Expressionism. What he is famous for
though is his works based on comic strips. This all began with a painting he made of Mickey Mouse
in 1960 for his children. By 1961 Lichtenstein was completely dedicated to the making of art from
mass–produced, merchandising images. His comic–strip paintings, such as Good Morning, Darling,
are blowups of the original cartoon characters, reproduced by hand, with the same technique of
benday dots and bright primary colors used in printing. This result was a blend of commercial art
and abstraction. He tried to use brilliant colors outlined in black to emphasis the visual impact.
These painting made him famous and the first one–man show of his comic strip paintings was in
New York City in 1962. It was a major success and by 1968 the interest in his artwork was
phenomenal. He has the distinction of being the first American artist to have an exhibition at
London's Tate Gallery. Lichtenstein continued in this area for a while, taking subjects from
sentimental
Romance magazines. He enclosed speeches in balloons and made landscapes in the
Comic–book style. He also dabbled in making statues during this time, which

Assemblage Art And The Arts At Ohio State University
Assemblage art is the process of an artist creating a piece of work out of objects and materials rather
than just paints and brushes. Assemblage art interests me more because of the history of the
materials before it was created into a work being displayed. The specific artist used other's scraps
and "trash" to assemble a piece of art greater than both people combined and the ending product
comes out to be something a lot more significant than "trash". Although I don't know much about
assemblage art and the process of it, I can interpret it for hopefully what the artist wanted me to and
I can find the significance within it. The piece of work I chose to analyze comes from the Wexner
Center for the Arts here at Ohio State University. This piece of art was made in 1988 and comes
from the Terri and Michael Smooke Collection, its name is The Last Supper. Though I didn't learn
about assemblage, I was exposed to the relevance of one of the most historically significant
paintings by Leonardo da Vinci, The Last Supper. This late 15th–century painting is a religion icon
and depicts Jesus Christ and his 12 disciples at their last supper before Jesus was sent off to get
crucified. I believe the piece of art I analyzed was clearly inspired by Leonardo's The Last Supper
due to the same name and key similarities I found in the painting. For starters, my painting doesn't
have any human figures represented in it but instead just silverware, "plates", and sardine cans. The
sardine cans near

Adam Miller Campaign Case Study
The Adam Miller Campaign for the 17th Ohio House District was a well–organized campaign.
Adam ran his campaign similar to how John Kerry ran his campaigns, and by this, I mean that Adam
more or less ran his own campaign. This does not mean that Adam did not have a team to help him
make decisions. Adam's team was modeled after the military model of functional units, which he
had broken down into four different units. The first was logistics and supply, this unit was made up
of union leaders and Katherine as a consultant. The next unit was intel, which was made up of
democrats in the statehouse and the Ohio Democratic Party. The third unit was operations, which
was headed by Barbara Herman who was the Campaign Manager and the student volunteers. ...

Show the community that we are involved in it in a very meaningful way. This was the strategy that
Adam chose because it shows that he truly cares about the community and not just doing these nice
activities to appear appealing to the community. The important thing about this is that it obviously
needs to have a positive outcome. The first thing that we desired this approach to do was to gain the
support of the community leaders. These community leaders include natural leaders within the
community, Union Leaders, and politically active citizens. One example of these community leaders
was Lisa Boggs. She is a Civic Association Leader and is on the Ward Committee. This was
important because it helped us gain the support of republicans who have not voted democrat in a
very long time. While being meaningfully involved in the community and gaining the trust of the
community leaders Adam did not ask for an endorsement until the very end. He did this on purpose
because he believed that you have to show you are willing to help them before they will be ready to
help you. In addition to showing his meaningful involvement in the community when we went
canvassing Adam insisted that we leave a personal note on the literature that we left to show that we
truly cared about talking with them. In addition to showing how much we truly cared about the
community and gaining the trust of the community leaders, we also relied on Mike Stinziano and
Dan Stewart to help gain the trust of the voters in our district. Democrats in the district know both of
these men and trust them both. They helped our campaign immensely and this is obvious through
Dan Stewart helped Adam get the support of the Somalian Voters. We won ninety percent of the
Somalian vote. When it came time to start canvassing Adam decided he wanted us to start in The
Westgate Neighborhood, specifically Ward 32 and work our way outwards. He believed this because

Compare And Contrast Duke University Vs Ohio State University
Duke University and The Ohio State University are two really unique colleges where I am thinking
about attending. These colleges both have what I am looking for in a University. Between these
colleges, I think that the decision will be extremely tough. I love both schools' locations, students,
atmosphere, and competitiveness. These colleges have some similarities, but in many ways are
complete opposites. Looking at all of the unique characteristics of Duke and Ohio State, I believe
that this will be a tough choice.
When I think of Duke University one word comes to mind, elitism. The total enrollment for
undergraduates for this university is a little less than 7,000, which is a medium–sized campus. This
is one factor that makes Duke extremely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of my favorite things about this university is that it is incredibly involved in football. They also
have a spectacular medical school that I could attend after graduating. Ohio State is known for their
medical school and also has many connections from doctors worldwide. This university is also a lot
closer to home so it would be easier for me as well. The Ohio State University is about two hours
away, which is a perfect distance to experience the full college life while still having the option to
come home on the weekends. Ohio State is a lot cheaper than Duke as well. Their tuition is about
$25,000. Also on the subject of tuition, nearly forty five percent of students graduate with no debt.
The university is ranked sixteenth best public university in the nation and first in Ohio. Ohio State
has an average ACT score of 28, not too off from mine. The university also has a perfect student to
teacher ratio that is 19:1. OSU is number seven in studying abroad programs. This is another one of
my favorite things about this university because I love traveling. Like Duke, Ohio State has many
clubs and activities that students can get involved in. This may help when trying to make friends in

Smoking Habits Of The Ohio State University Students Essay
Introduction: According to the Center of Disease Control national survey, smoking habits have
significantly decreased in the United States (CDC). With medical evidence and stricter regulations,
smoking traditional tobacco cigarettes are perceived as a concerning habit. As traditional cigarette
usage declines, the use of electronic cigarettes (e–cigarettes) have been a popular alternative,
especially prominent among young adults ages 18–24 years old (CDC). E–cigarettes are inhaled in a
liquid vapor form however, like traditional cigarettes, have highly addictive toxins and carcinogens

campuses, including the Ohio State University, have implemented tobacco free polices to promote
healthier lifestyles for students, employees and visitors (Tobacco Free OSU). In early 2014, Ohio
State issued the tobacco free policy, which prohibits all tobacco–derived products on university own
property and buildings. The 2016 autumn semester was the first time Ohio State implemented
required on–campus living for freshmen and sophomore students. Considering that on–campus
housing follow the tobacco free policy, this may constrain students from engaging in tobacco

My Visit To The Ohio State University
I am currently attending The Ohio State University – Columbus Campus. When I think about why I
chose The Ohio State University the first word that comes to mind is tradition. It has been a tradition
in my family to attend Ohio State since my grandpa and his brother enrolled in the 1960s. When I
was growing up I thought it was so cool to listen to all of the stories about Ohio State from my
grandpa, uncle, and countless other family members. They had so many great memories and they
truly loved attending Ohio State. I remember thinking that maybe someday I too could have my own
stories about Ohio State. When my junior year rolled around it was time for me to visit colleges. The
first and only college I visited was Ohio State. I knew right away

My three college choices are University of Florida, University of Seattle and Ohio University. Each
of these colleges have good qualities for my careers. I'm not very sure what exactly I want to have a
career in. Two of my main choices are veterinarian or child care. Some of my concerns are the
distance, cost of tuition, the quality of the program, and the recreation at the colleges. University of
Florida is my first choice. The tuition for my enrollment would be $6,270. With this college there
are 16 programs for this university. For each semester you need to have 15 credits. To get in to this

Ohio State is very close to home. and is in state.
I talked about how I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do as my career. I thought of either child
care or veterinarian. Job requirements for child care are you have to be able to take act in a
emergency situation. You need to be able to connect with kids and show them you care. This is a
very social job too. Working conditions for this job could be outside, inside, at home, at a day care,
or in a school. The job requirements for a veterinarian is you need the skills. You need to have
passion for animals, you need business skills, and social skills. The working conditions for this job
can be in a clinic and/or outside. This job can be a traveling job, such as farms or other homes.
The salary for child care can range from $45,000 to 116,000. The salary range for a veterinarian is
from $49,000 to $113,000. These are really good paying jobs that could really provide enough for
me. The benefits for child care are you get to interact with kids and connect to them on another
level. The benefits for veterinarian are interacting with animals and to help their needs and stay
alive.
These are to good supporting jobs. There are more and more clinics for vets and children. I feel I
will probably end up working for someone close and then try to start my own business in Florida.

My First Semester At The Ohio State University Essay
If you can't make it better, you can laugh at it. I found this quote by American columnist Erma
Bombeck about a month into my first semester at The Ohio State University. I liked it–a lot. So
much that I wrote it in sprawling letters on the dry erase board that I had been using to scribble my
"motivational quote of the week" and I never erased it. I could not have known at the time how
Erma's words would transform from something my roommate and I would say flippantly about bad
first dates and failed quizzes, into a philosophy that would carry me through four years of studies
and shape the person I am today. I needed laughter desperately during those first few months of
college. My grades were bad, my family was in crisis, I felt friendless and alone and I did not know
who I was or what I was doing. Those first few months felt like I was stumbling through a dark an
unfamiliar room, looking for lamp to turn on. Stumbling through that darkness I eventually found
myself in the basement of a university building auditioning for Fishbowl Improv. I had come to
fishbowl auditions on a whim. Bijan, the boy who lived across the hall, told me I should try out with
him, and so I did. Nobody was more surprised that I was when I got the call that I made it in.
My time in fishbowl taught me more than I could have ever guessed there was to learn. Most of all, I
learned that I hadn't been taking laughter seriously enough. Comedy feels like an instinct until you
apply yourself to it.

Leadership Theory : The Ohio State University Essay
Although trait and skill theories have ideas that can be intertwined and can be compared
to one another, style leadership theory differs quite drastically. Instead of focusing on who the
leader is, if there is some type of genetic makeup to leaders, or whether skills can be learned,
style leadership focuses on what those leaders do, not who they are. Style theory refers to three
main theories or styles of leadership. These theories are known as the Ohio State University
studies, the Michigan University studies, and the Blake and Mouton Managerial Grid.
In 1945, a group of researchers at Ohio State University sought to identify the observable
behaviors of leaders instead of focusing of their individual traits. To document their findings,
they generated a list of 150 statements designed to measure nine different dimensions of
leadership behavior. These statements were used to develop the Leaders ' Behavior Description
Questionnaire (LBDQ). The surveys were then given to members of a group, who were asked to
respond to a series of statements about the leader of their group. Respondents of the LBDQ–rated
leaders on how frequently they engaged in a certain behavior. The results of the survey
showed that two main behaviors, consideration and initiating structure. Consideration is how the
leader shows concern for members of the group. These leaders treated everyone as his/her equal and
were friendly and approachable. Initiation structure means the leader

As a son of a sharecropper and grandson of a slave, Jesse...
As a son of a sharecropper and grandson of a slave, Jesse Owens created History in 1936 when he
achieved what no athlete had done before: four Olympic Gold Medals. (jesseowens.com). During
this era, the United States had limited civil rights and was approaching a World War with Hitler
rising into power in Germany. Although Owens was victorious on the track, because of the color of
his skin, He was looked down upon and unrecognized by even his own country. Through the
excessive racism, one may ask how Owens moved forward and dealt with such negativity in a
situation that should have been celebrated.

teammates. Owens had to stay in "black–only" hotels and restaurants. And although he deserved it,
he was not offered any scholarships because he was Black and therefore was forced to work part
time in order to pay for his education.
On May 25th, 1935 Jesse Owens set three world records in a span of forty–five minutes at the Big
Ten Championships in Ann Arbor(www.jesseowens.com). Despite his sore back that day, he
achieved a 9.4 second victory in the 100–meter dash, long jumped 26 ft. 8 ¼ inches, sprinted at 20.3
seconds on the 220–meter sprint, and succeeded in the 220–yard low hurdles at 22.6 seconds.
Owens's achievement stands as perhaps the best single–day accomplishment of any track–and–field
athlete history. Because of such great success, Owens entered the 1936 Olympics that were to be
held in Berlin, Germany.
Hitler was rising into power in Germany and it is said that he tried to use the Olympics in order to
show the world a resurgent Germany (www.jesse–owens.org). Nazi propaganda promoted concepts
of "Aryan racial superiority" and depicted Africans as inferior. Hitler wanted the entire world to
believe that the Aryan people were a dominant race. Owens had different plans, as he achieved four
victories during the Track and field Olympics. On August 3rd Owens won the 100–meter dash at

Ohio State University V. Richard Spencer's Case
Recently the Ohio State University refused to rent campus space to white nationalist Richard

The Generation Of The Future
Millennials, the generation born between the years of 1980 and 2000, prefer instant gratification to
delving deep into a resource, and they tend to be more progressive in their ideologies compared to
their elders. The average young adult these days prefers images and diagrams to a page filled with
scholarly words. We millennials thrive on flashing logos and visual stimuli. Present us with graphs
and illustrations because we want the information to hit us all at once and in a unique way, instead
of having to read separate bits of information sentence by sentence on a plain white page. Keep what
you're trying to say under 140 characters or we will get bored. Don't send us flyers in the mail;
follow us on Instagram because we are always on our phones anyways. Colleges and universities are
catching on to the trend that the upcoming generation is technologically driven and prefer their
information to be both terse and entertaining. They are also beginning to recognize the importance
diversity plays in this generation's life. This combination of artsy efficiency and liberal viewpoints is
influencing the way universities choose to appeal to potential students.
The main thing universities use to try to grab the attention of website visitors is photographs. Even
the Lawlor Group is taking advantage of this generation's preference for visually stimulating
retrieval of information; they are currently working on a project entitled the "Common Application."

students who have to pay for their college education, what is the best intervention/program to help

Intervention Design
In an effort to find the best evidence–based practice (EBP), a search of the literature through
EBSCO host was conducted using terms such as "student loan debt," "student debt," "college
student financial knowledge," "college student credit cards," and "college student theory of planned

which allowed us to also address the psychological impact that financial issues can cause.
In addition, a search for a meta–analysis of college student's financial knowledge was conducted. A
search of Cochrane and Campbell yielded almost nothing when using student specific search terms
for debt and financial education. To address the lack of findings, the scope was widened to simply
financial education and knowledge, which resulted in finding a meta–analysis that included students
among other portions of the population when considering financial knowledge

influence of the Romanesque style of architecture. Orton Hall is an ideal example of the
Richardsonian Romanesque style. This style is from the 19th century and was popularized by
architect Henry Hobson Richardson. Aspects of this style which are all incorporated into Orton Hall

Ohio State University Traffic Speed Data Report

  • 1. Ohio State University Traffic Investigation Report Introduction Maintaining a safe environment for all students, staff, and visitors on campus is one of the Ohio State University's greatest concerns. As one of the most common and dangerous threats to student safety, traffic safety is always a vital consideration. Due to pedestrian complaints, the university has directed their attention Woody Hayes Drive and Olentangy River Road. The team has been appointed to approach this issue using a spot speed method. The purpose of this experiment was to collect and evaluate traffic speed data in the area in order to determine if further action from the university is necessary to improve traffic safety. The next section, experimental methodology, describes how the experiment was setup, carried out, and the conditions in which the experiment took place. Section 3 displays the results that were obtained from the experimental procedure, as well as provides a brief description as how the data were evaluated. Section 4 attempts to create a logical interpretation as to what the results mean, as well as identify any potential errors that may have skewed the results. Finally, section 5 summarizes the report, and suggests conclusions for the results posed throughout the experiment and potential solutions to errors discussed in section 4. Experimental Methodology ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To determine this interval, a ruler was used to find two points on the curve in Figure A1 whose horizontal distance between such points equaled ten miles per hour. Those two points were determined to be the end limits of the pace. Since the cumulative frequency and frequency graphs shared an x axis, vertical lines were drawn down from these two points and used to find the cumulative percent limits of 88% and 15%. The difference between the two percent limits determined the percent of vehicles traveling within the pace. This yielded 88%–15%=73% of total vehicles lie between the ... • 3. The Waste Of The State Of America 's Food Waste Mr. Wisland, I have been doing research on food waste in Athens, Ohio. The goal of my research is to find a plausible solution to the waste. To begin the gathering of information, I searched through the Ohio University ArticlesPlus Database to find any journals that I could find pertaining to the state of America's food waste, how we can make a difference, and what has already been implemented to make a change. This was my way of looking at the amount of food wasted from a bigger perspective. I found four sources on the issue as a whole, to which I have included in my annotated bibliography. All sources have a primary focus on statistics of food waste in America, and finding a solution to the problem that we have created. The statistics ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The easiest way to reach all consumers at large would to host media campaigns through commercials, television, news articles, and anything else along those lines. It is vital that consumers learn because around 73% of consumers think that they waste less than the average person, however, there is still over $165 billion worth of food wasted. From there, I knew that I had to dig into food waste just a bit deeper to find the information that I needed pertaining to Athens, Ohio. I searched for sustainability and food waste programs or groups on Ohio University's campus to find out just how bad food waste is in our town. I found two different groups: Athens' Food Rescue, and Athens Hocking Recycling Center. Both of these groups have a similar mission, and that is to reduce food waste, promote environmental health, and building a community around the food in Athens county that would normally be thrown away. Athens' Food Rescue was one of my favorite groups to listen to as they collect surplus food from places around Athens and redistribute it to the homeless, hungry, or low income people. In my opinion, this is the best solution to food waste in Athens, as we are living in one of the most low–income towns in all of Ohio. I learned that Athens Hocking Recycling Center offers compost services throughout all of Hocking and Athens. They offer five, seven, or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Becoming A Graduate Degree At The Ohio State University People have a hard time figuring out what they were meant to do in life, leading to numerous jobs before they settle on one. Sometimes these struggles to find what they are meant to do, lead people to completely changing career fields. I believed that my purpose in life, as I entered college, was to help lead the young people of today. While finishing up my bachelors degree in Elementary and Middle Childhood Studies at The Ohio State University, I knew that I wanted to continue my education and obtain a masters degree. Throughout my entire undergrad, I spent time as a varsity football assistant coach. That feeling of wanting to lead along with my coaching experience influenced me to pursue a graduate degree through a program deeply rooted in leadership. With the amount of broken homes and divorce rate at an all time high, kids do not look to their parents for guidance anymore, instead they look at celebrities. Younger generations have always been easily influenced by what they see in society. If they see someone popular on tv doing something or wearing something, they have to do their best to mimic it. Nowadays the things that our young people are seeing are leading to negative consequences in their life. They make choices based on what they see instead of the values that their parents should have been teaching them. Once those choices do not workout, those same kids look for someone to blame because they have never been held accountable for their choices before. Being in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Personal Narrative: My Trip To The Ohio State University We all have memories from our childhood, which will never leave our memory no matter how old we may get. Up until I was about 8 years old, I lived in the Victorian Village community in a very old apartment complex that was originally a house that was, awkwardly, broken up into sections to create the different apartment arrangements. While I was living there, I remember going to the Northside library every day in the summer to practice my reading, to Thompson Recreation Center and Goodale Park to play on the playground and with other kids, along with many other great memories. It was during this time I knew attending college was inevitably in my future. During that time, my older sister was attending the Ohio State University. My father, on ... • 11. The Importance Of The Ohio State University When I was choosing my college, I looked at a lot of different factors. These factors included the location of the college, the school's diversity rate, and the rank of the college. I also spent a lot of time researching in–state colleges because tuition was cheaper and only certain in–state schools would take all my college credit plus courses, which started me off as a sophomore here at the University of Cincinnati. One huge deciding factor was if I felt that I could make a difference at the university or not. When I went on my UC college tour the area reminded me of home and I felt that I would've been able to make an impact at the school and the environment, I felt that I would be more than just a number. As of now I am going to China in December on a study abroad trip to get a better understanding of business world, explore the culture, and most importantly to learn and grow as an African American man. I am also in the process of getting an internship in Washington D.C. in the Spring of 2018. If I receive this Internship this will make me an even stronger applicant for future jobs and internships me achieve my overall goal of making the world a better place. UC offers a lot of resources here on campus and if taken advantage of, they could ensure success at the university. I plan on utilizing the AACRC (African–American Culture and Resource Center) the most because I feel that the students and faculty really care about my wellbeing, they have also been a home away from home making sure that I settle in at UC well. The LAC, library, MASS, academic advisor, and mentors are also amazing resources that the campus offers that I currently use and I plan on continuing to do so during my time here at the University. At this point in my life I believe that becoming an Marketing Manager will be my career goal. Both schools are great school, but each has very different Rec Sports and facilities. Just by looking at the pictures from both facilities, I would say that they are really nice and up to date. So I will compare and contrast Texas A&M to Ohio State University. The first university that I will talk about is Texas A&M, who has over 12,000 students who participate each year. They also have over 34 different programs that students can do for free. Intramural sports is a big part of any university. Texas has over 12,000 students that participate in intramural sports. • 17. Synthesis Essay : The Ohio State University Synthesis Essay: Jim Tressel MSgt Greg Frank Air Force Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy Jim Tressel The Ohio State University is home to one of the best college football teams in America. The university has a rich history where several famous players and coaches have emerged. One famous coach in particular is Jim Tressel, who coached at Ohio State from 2001 until 2011. During his tenure, he had a winning record that came to an abrupt end as a result of multiple ethics violations. Tressel's full range leadership, critical thinking, team dynamics and ethical behaviors will be examined in this thesis. Based on the information found in the study guides, Tressel is a visionary leader who was not ethical. Despite a lapse in ethics, he led the Buckeyes for nearly a decade with a vision to win, and he did just that. Visionary Leader Using the Full Range Leadership and Team Dynamics lessons, it's easy to see why Tressel is a visionary leader. He took over for the Buckeyes after a loosing season and multiple losses to Michigan. In the land of Buck–nuts, winning on Saturday after Thanksgiving against Michigan is the most important game of the year. According to the Barnes Center for Enlisted Education, Team Dynamics, mission effectiveness is defined as "when the team process is executed effectively, a team can be used to pool the ideas and experiences of its members in search for a collective outcome." • 19. Ohio State University Student Analysis While an undergraduate at The Ohio State University I was very active in school clubs and recreational sports. I was the Vice President of the Portuguese Club and was a member of the Promotions team for the local radio station. I volunteered at a dog shelter and with foster boys living in a group home. I was also a trip leader in university and led a group of seven university students to Atlanta, GA to work with teenagers in a low–performing school. This involved handling the budget and activities for the group. I enjoy volunteering and doing extra activities to make university life more well–rounded. I did not have any particularly different difficulties in university. I had many of the same stresses other people had but did not handle them as well. my desire to learn as much as I could led to me being over stretched, which contributed to my low grades. When it comes to me, I learn to interpret that the very uncertainty of the future is full of opportunities, for exploration to discover something I am passionate about. In the beginning, I expected to be a clinical pharmacist at a hospital, since I had taken a pharmacy degree with clinical pharmacy major. Nevertheless, the food and beverage industry has captivated my interest enough for me to pursue a career in it, especially related to the innovation and development of functional foods. During my undergraduate studies in the field of pharmacy at the University of Surabaya (UBAYA), I took a leave of absence for one year (2 semesters) which I requested several weeks before the orientation week started. I used this authorized break to refresh my mind by traveling to some parts of China and to other countries. All of a sudden nurses came rushing in and yelling at us to hustle out. • 27. A Research Study At Ohio State University 5 Leadership Running Head Leadership Two large studies found that two types of leader behaviors were important concepts in leadership skills. While the two separate studies used different terms, they can be thought of as concern for people and concern for tasks. The study at Ohio State University identified these two behaviors: Consideration relationship behaviors, such as respect and trust concern for people. Initiating Structure task behaviors, such as organizing, scheduling and seeing that work is completed concern for tasks. The study at the University of Michigan identified these two behaviors (Joyce, 2012). Employee Orientation approaching employees with a strong human relations orientation concern for people. Production Orientation stressing the technical and production aspect of the job concern for tasks. The researchers from Michigan State thought of these two behaviors at opposite ends of a single continuum. Thus, a leader could be strong with one of these two behaviors, but would be weaker in the opposite one (Joyce, 2012). The Ohio State studies viewed these two behaviors as distinct and independent. That is, a leader could be high or low in one or both behaviors. For example, in the U. S. Army one of the most important rules is to take care of your soldiers and complete the mission task; a leader should be good with both. Bad leaders can do neither, nor do just one but not the other (Joyce, 2012). The notion that just two dimensions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Experience On-Campus Community Service In The Ohio State... For this assignment, I went to the Ohio State University Hillel Center and was able to experience on–campus religious life. Throughout the experience, there was definitely a feeling of community and inclusiveness. Even though the congregation separated into different groups for the actual service, they began the ceremony together and ended it together. Before the groups separated for their respective services, everyone congregated for the lighting of the candles in the lobby and after each service, everyone congregated for kiddush before going to dinner. Despite the fact that there were two separate services occurring at the same time, Conservative and Reform, there did not seem to be any disdain towards the other, as was the case ... One of the singing prayers had the tune changed in the middle. The last prayer of the service was sung to the tune of Carmen Ohio. In several of the clips of Shabbat services that we watched in class, we noticed that men and women were separated. However, at the Hillel center, there was no separation; men and women could sit together. However, in the service I went to, there were more men than women in the congregation, but after reconvening at the end of the services, it seemed to me that there were more men in overall attendance than women. In observing clips in class, we also noted that in many cases, women were dressed very conservatively and some men wore religious garb. All of the men at the services were dressed on the dressier side of everyday clothing; most wore yarmulke during the service, and some took it off afterwards, while some left it on. I'm assuming this has to do with differences between different sects of their religion, or perhaps the way they were raised. The women were also dressed on the dressier side of everyday clothing, and many were for the most part, modestly dressed. The people at the Hillel center were also very welcoming of new people who may not know exactly what is going on. His career as an artist mainly started in 1951, he usually painted cowboys and Indians in various modern art styles. In 1957 he tried his hand at Abstract Expressionism. What he is famous for though is his works based on comic strips. This all began with a painting he made of Mickey Mouse in 1960 for his children. By 1961 Lichtenstein was completely dedicated to the making of art from mass–produced, merchandising images. His comic–strip paintings, such as Good Morning, Darling, are blowups of the original cartoon characters, reproduced by hand, with the same technique of benday dots and bright primary colors used in printing. This result was a blend of commercial art and abstraction. He tried to use brilliant colors outlined in black to emphasis the visual impact. These painting made him famous and the first one–man show of his comic strip paintings was in New York City in 1962. It was a major success and by 1968 the interest in his artwork was phenomenal. He has the distinction of being the first American artist to have an exhibition at London's Tate Gallery. • 39. Assemblage Art And The Arts At Ohio State University Assemblage art is the process of an artist creating a piece of work out of objects and materials rather than just paints and brushes. Assemblage art interests me more because of the history of the materials before it was created into a work being displayed. The specific artist used other's scraps and "trash" to assemble a piece of art greater than both people combined and the ending product comes out to be something a lot more significant than "trash". Although I don't know much about assemblage art and the process of it, I can interpret it for hopefully what the artist wanted me to and I can find the significance within it. The piece of work I chose to analyze comes from the Wexner Center for the Arts here at Ohio State University. This piece of art was made in 1988 and comes from the Terri and Michael Smooke Collection, its name is The Last Supper. Though I didn't learn about assemblage, I was exposed to the relevance of one of the most historically significant paintings by Leonardo da Vinci, The Last Supper. This late 15th–century painting is a religion icon and depicts Jesus Christ and his 12 disciples at their last supper before Jesus was sent off to get crucified. I believe the piece of art I analyzed was clearly inspired by Leonardo's The Last Supper due to the same name and key similarities I found in the painting. For starters, my painting doesn't have any human figures represented in it but instead just silverware, "plates", and sardine cans. The sardine cans near ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Adam ran his campaign similar to how John Kerry ran his campaigns, and by this, I mean that Adam more or less ran his own campaign. This does not mean that Adam did not have a team to help him make decisions. Adam's team was modeled after the military model of functional units, which he had broken down into four different units. The first was logistics and supply, this unit was made up of union leaders and Katherine as a consultant. The next unit was intel, which was made up of democrats in the statehouse and the Ohio Democratic Party. Show the community that we are involved in it in a very meaningful way. This was the strategy that Adam chose because it shows that he truly cares about the community and not just doing these nice activities to appear appealing to the community. The important thing about this is that it obviously needs to have a positive outcome. The first thing that we desired this approach to do was to gain the support of the community leaders. These community leaders include natural leaders within the community, Union Leaders, and politically active citizens. One example of these community leaders was Lisa Boggs. She is a Civic Association Leader and is on the Ward Committee. This was important because it helped us gain the support of republicans who have not voted democrat in a very long time. While being meaningfully involved in the community and gaining the trust of the community leaders Adam did not ask for an endorsement until the very end. He did this on purpose because he believed that you have to show you are willing to help them before they will be ready to help you. In addition to showing his meaningful involvement in the community when we went canvassing Adam insisted that we leave a personal note on the literature that we left to show that we truly cared about talking with them. In addition to showing how much we truly cared about the community and gaining the trust of the community leaders, we also relied on Mike Stinziano and Dan Stewart to help gain the trust of the voters in our district. Democrats in the district know both of these men and trust them both. They helped our campaign immensely and this is obvious through Dan Stewart helped Adam get the support of the Somalian Voters. • 57. My First Semester At The Ohio State University Essay If you can't make it better, you can laugh at it. I found this quote by American columnist Erma Bombeck about a month into my first semester at The Ohio State University. I liked it–a lot. So much that I wrote it in sprawling letters on the dry erase board that I had been using to scribble my "motivational quote of the week" and I never erased it. I could not have known at the time how Erma's words would transform from something my roommate and I would say flippantly about bad first dates and failed quizzes, into a philosophy that would carry me through four years of studies and shape the person I am today. I needed laughter desperately during those first few months of college. My grades were bad, my family was in crisis, I felt friendless and alone and I did not know who I was or what I was doing. Those first few months felt like I was stumbling through a dark an unfamiliar room, looking for lamp to turn on. Stumbling through that darkness I eventually found myself in the basement of a university building auditioning for Fishbowl Improv. I had come to fishbowl auditions on a whim. Bijan, the boy who lived across the hall, told me I should try out with him, and so I did. Nobody was more surprised that I was when I got the call that I made it in. • 61. Leadership Theory : The Ohio State University Essay Although trait and skill theories have ideas that can be intertwined and can be compared to one another, style leadership theory differs quite drastically. Instead of focusing on who the leader is, if there is some type of genetic makeup to leaders, or whether skills can be learned, style leadership focuses on what those leaders do, not who they are. Style theory refers to three main theories or styles of leadership. These theories are known as the Ohio State University studies, the Michigan University studies, and the Blake and Mouton Managerial Grid. In 1945, a group of researchers at Ohio State University sought to identify the observable behaviors of leaders instead of focusing of their individual traits. To document their findings, they generated a list of 150 statements designed to measure nine different dimensions of leadership behavior. These statements were used to develop the Leaders ' Behavior Description Questionnaire (LBDQ). The surveys were then given to members of a group, who were asked to respond to a series of statements about the leader of their group. Respondents of the LBDQ–rated leaders on how frequently they engaged in a certain behavior. The results of the survey showed that two main behaviors, consideration and initiating structure. Consideration is how the leader shows concern for members of the group. These leaders treated everyone as his/her equal and were friendly and approachable. Initiation structure means the leader ... As a son of a sharecropper and grandson of a slave, Jesse Owens created History in 1936 when he achieved what no athlete had done before: four Olympic Gold Medals. (jesseowens.com). During this era, the United States had limited civil rights and was approaching a World War with Hitler rising into power in Germany. Although Owens was victorious on the track, because of the color of his skin, He was looked down upon and unrecognized by even his own country. Through the excessive racism, one may ask how Owens moved forward and dealt with such negativity in a situation that should have been celebrated. Henry and Emma Alexander Owens gave birth to James Cleveland Owens on September 12, 1913 in Alabama (www.jesseowens.com). At the age of nine, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite such success, Owens did not have the privilege to the luxuries of his fellow white teammates. Owens had to stay in "black–only" hotels and restaurants. And although he deserved it, he was not offered any scholarships because he was Black and therefore was forced to work part time in order to pay for his education. On May 25th, 1935 Jesse Owens set three world records in a span of forty–five minutes at the Big Ten Championships in Ann Arbor(www.jesseowens.com). Despite his sore back that day, he achieved a 9.4 second victory in the 100–meter dash, long jumped 26 ft. 8 ¼ inches, sprinted at 20.3 seconds on the 220–meter sprint, and succeeded in the 220–yard low hurdles at 22.6 seconds. Owens's achievement stands as perhaps the best single–day accomplishment of any track–and–field athlete history. Because of such great success, Owens entered the 1936 Olympics that were to be held in Berlin, Germany. Hitler was rising into power in Germany and it is said that he tried to use the Olympics in order to show the world a resurgent Germany (www.jesse–owens.org). Nazi propaganda promoted concepts of "Aryan racial superiority" and depicted Africans as inferior. Hitler wanted the entire world to believe that the Aryan people were a dominant race. Owens had different plans, as he achieved four victories during the Track and field Olympics. On August 3rd Owens won the 100–meter dash at 10.35 seconds against Ralph ... • 65. Ohio State University V. Richard Spencer's Case Recently the Ohio State University refused to rent campus space to white nationalist Richard Spencer so he could speak. While this is understandable considering the message that Spencer has been known to preach, the Ohio State University has been accused of denying Richard Spencer his first amendment right. An attorney for Ohio State told Spencer that while the University valued freedom of speech, the speach would cause a serious threat to public safety. Spencer's response was a lawsuit against Ohio State University. Spencer had sued several other schools in the past as they wouldn't allow him to speak and it appears that he has now sued Ohio State. The Generation Of The Future Millennials, the generation born between the years of 1980 and 2000, prefer instant gratification to delving deep into a resource, and they tend to be more progressive in their ideologies compared to their elders. The average young adult these days prefers images and diagrams to a page filled with scholarly words. We millennials thrive on flashing logos and visual stimuli. Present us with graphs and illustrations because we want the information to hit us all at once and in a unique way, instead of having to read separate bits of information sentence by sentence on a plain white page. Keep what you're trying to say under 140 characters or we will get bored. Don't send us flyers in the mail; follow us on Instagram because we are always on our phones anyways. Colleges and universities are catching on to the trend that the upcoming generation is technologically driven and prefer their information to be both terse and entertaining. They are also beginning to recognize the importance diversity plays in this generation's life. This combination of artsy efficiency and liberal viewpoints is influencing the way universities choose to appeal to potential students. The main thing universities use to try to grab the attention of website visitors is photographs. Even the Lawlor Group is taking advantage of this generation's preference for visually stimulating retrieval of information; they are currently working on a project entitled the "Common Application." Our question using the COPES framework is as follows: For undergraduate college students who have to pay for their college education, what is the best intervention/program to help them manage and/or reduce their amount of student debt? Intervention Design In an effort to find the best evidence–based practice (EBP), a search of the literature through EBSCO host was conducted using terms such as "student loan debt," "student debt," "college student financial knowledge," "college student credit cards," and "college student theory of planned behavior" among others. This literature search led to findings regarding students and financial stress, which allowed us to also address the psychological impact that financial issues can cause. In addition, a search for a meta–analysis of college student's financial knowledge was conducted. A search of Cochrane and Campbell yielded almost nothing when using student specific search terms for debt and financial education. To address the lack of findings, the scope was widened to simply financial education and knowledge, which resulted in finding a meta–analysis that included students among other portions of the population when considering financial knowledge ... It begins with a single long rectangle then it experiences addition of rectangles. Next are extensions of the center datum and added rectangles. The last change is the addition of semi–circles to the north and west side. The main reason for the addition of these semicircles is due to the influence of the Romanesque style of architecture. Orton Hall is an ideal example of the Richardsonian Romanesque style. This style is from the 19th century and was popularized by architect Henry Hobson Richardson. Aspects of this style which are all incorporated into Orton Hall include a heavy stone exterior, tower, steeply pitched roof, red clay roof, bay window and round arches (Fig. 4). Without these characteristics Orton Hall would lose all of its most distinguishable features. A precedent with similar features would be the Broad St. United Methodist Church located in downtown Columbus (Fig. 5). This building is built in the High Victorian Gothic style by the same architect as Orton Hall, Joseph w. Yost. Yost may have used a different style for the two buildings but they are similar in which they both have steep sloping roofs, a tower, and asymmetry (Fig. 6). The tower along with the other features of Orton Hall can be simplified into abstract and simple shapes such as cylinders, prisms, a sphere cut in half, and a cone (Fig. ...
