College Essay On Hair Texture
Have you ever looked at people and wondered why everyone doesn't have the same hair texture.
Everyone on this planet has a different hair texture than you, me, or your best friend. Hair texture is
the measure of the circumference of the hair strand itself. There are several subcategories of hair
texture that vary between very straight and fine to very curly and coarse. Everyone has a different
hair texture and how they choose to accept and embrace depends on how they grew up.
The way a person grows up will determine how they embrace their hair because a person brought up
believing that their is ugly or that hair is beautiful will change how they embrace their hair. For
example African American girls have always been told their hair is too

The Grand Canyon, A Landscape Made From Mixed Media
The Grand Canyon, one of the United States most popular tourist attractions. The canyon has drawn
various people to it, including artists who depict its beauty in multiple forms. Throughout this
report, I will be discussing and critiquing Rose Eagers Grand Canyon, a landscape made from mixed
media. While reviewing this piece of art at the Carnegie Art Center located in Turlock, CA; I learned
a lot about the content.
Rose Eager, in her later years was a victim of macular degeneration, a horrific disease of the eye that
slowly changes the way we see. "Macular Degeneration recently diminished my ability to see color
and depth, so I started a new series of work using achromatic neutrals, black, white, and grey over

Eager has multiple aspects of her image that strongly support a formalist viewpoint. Her artwork has
definite structural aspects that have a greater meaning then you originally think. To break down the
image in even more depth, when you first glance at the image, the first area that your eye is drawn to
is the tree, more specifically the tree branches. These branches are extremely textured, giving them
almost a true bark like appearance. The leaves on the upper left corner of the piece look like they are
almost protruding off of the rest of the image.
The form of this image also adds to its components of formal analysis. Form is based on color,
composition, texture and line. This image by Eager has all of these major elements. The composition
is constructed with purpose, to show the flow and depth growing throughout the image. There are
multiple lines in this art piece, the first can be seen through the top of the work, it goes through the
tops of the trees and atop the mountain peaks. Then, there are implied lines, one can be seen
between the mountain peaks coming towards the tree, or vice versa. The color scheme again follows
her depiction of living with Macular Degeneration, she lost the ability to see colors, and in her
image, she only used shades of greys and black. In order to combat the depth, she was losing

Laser Crack Measurement System for Pavement-Management Sytems
Pavement–management systems (PMS) can work effectively only when they are constructed by
organically combining all activities concerned with road pavement (planning, design, construction,
maintenance, rehabilitation, evaluation, economic analysis, and research) and the data bank [1].
Then, the most important items are the establishment of a serviceability index, which represents
pavement quality, and a prediction of performance, which is represented by the relation between
time (and/or traffic) and the index. Pavement quality consists of two primary factors: riding quality
and skid resistance. The factors influencing riding quality are pavement distress and/or roughness.
Three major factors of pavement distress are cracking, rutting, and ... Show more content on

Therefore, measuring the macro texture is one of the essential components in pavement management
applications.
The requirements for acquiring these factors are the following: (1) That data–acquisition cost is as
cheap as possible; (2) that data analysis can be done in a short time; and (3) that data acquisition
doesn't influence the speed of other traveling vehicles, in particular on roads with heavy traffic [2].
Pavement surface distress measurement is an essential part of a pavement management system
(PMS) for determining cost–effective maintenance and rehabilitation strategies. Visual surveys
conducted by engineers in the field are still the most widely used means to inspect and evaluate
pavements, although such evaluations involve high degrees of subjectivity, hazardous exposure, and
low production rates. Consequently, automated distress identification is gaining wide popularity
among transportation agencies [6]. With the advancement of 3D sensor and information technology,
a high–resolution, high–speed 3D line laser imaging system has become available for pavement
surface condition data collection. With the advances in sensor technology, a 3D line–laser–imaging–
based pavement surface data acquisition system has become available. The Laser Crack
Measurement System (LCMS) [7] can collect high–resolution 3D continuous pavement profiles for
constructing pavement surfaces. The objective of

Analysis Of John Was An American Comic Book Artist
John was an American comic book artist known for his work with EC Comic on Two–Fisted Tales
and Frontline Combat, Marvel Comics on war and western comics, and a 45 year stint with the
magazine Cracked. He was also one of the founding artists of Mad in 1952. Severin was insucted
into the Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame in 2003 before passing away in 2012.
Severin's strongest aspects of this piece are framing, line work, and detail. The framing is successful
with the archway in the foreground of the environment. This black arch frames the whole piece.
Within the arch, the skeletons create a secondary framing device, calling attention to the men on the
stains. The immense detail in the skeletons allow them to work with the top arch ... Show more

The black placement is almost nonexistent except for inside the building in the background. This
pulls the viewer to this spot, which is rather unimportant in the image, while the focus should be on
the woman.
This piece successfully utilizes hatching, black placement, and has reproduced a character who is
identifiable. The hatching in the cloak of the character shows directionality without becoming too
complicated can being distracting. The black placement in the cloak weights the character provides
ground for him and the mailbox to sit on. The reproduction of a character is sometimes difficult to
achieve without matching a certain style. Severin successfully achieves drawing Bilbo Baggins and
having him recognizable, despite the name on the mail box to push recognition. The weakest aspect
of the piece is acting. Bilbo is stiff, and white he is in the act of taking the mail out of the mailbox,
he breaks the fourth wall by looking at the viewer. It would be more successful acting if he was
looking at the action he was performing.
The strongest aspect of this piece is line direction. In the water they encircle the action, and in the
rocks they lead the viewer down into the water. They also aid in the creation of texture, rhythm,
pattern, and framing. The texture created by the lines in the water reflect ripples that would actually
occur in the real world.

Concert Reflection
The concert I attended was called the Brooke Howard, Senior Clarinet Recital on November the 3rd
at the Blankenship Recital Hall. The performances consisted of the clarinet, piano, djembe, drum,
and a quartet. There were five pieces performed, four of the pieces were classical with one having a
more tribal beat with the djembe. The first piece was titled Allegro Appassionato, op 43 written by
Camille Saint–Saens. The piece started was started by the piano playing the melody. Then the
clarinet accompanied the piano creating a homophonic texture. The timbre of the clarinet was very
distinct over the piano. They continued playing then briefly there was a pause adding to the rhythm
of the piece. Then the clarinet started to play solo creating a monophonic texture. The piano started
to play again taking over the melody, with the clarinet accompanying. During this there was a
distinct repetition of notes playing over and over by the clarinet. The texture created was
homophonic as the piano and clarinet played in harmony. Then the texture switched to monophonic
as the piano and clarinet went back and forth playing the melody solo. The piece ended with the
piano and clarinet playing the same note, with the pianist letting the note fade out. The second piece
was titled Lied written by Francios Rasse. The piece started with the piano playing the melody then
the clarinet accompanied creating a homophonic texture. Then the piano and clarinet switched

Sacred Texture Analysis Essay
Introduction
To explore the use of innovation and creativity in leading the early Christian communities from
insular spirituality to a global social or religious force, I am using the method of Sacred Texture
Analysis. "Analysis of sacred text is a way of systemically probing dynamics across a spectrum of
relationships between the humans and the divine" (Robbins, 1996, pg.4). "The sacred texture of a
text is the formation and nurturing of religious community" (Robbins, 1996, pg.127). "Therefore,
socio–rhetorical criticism extends intertextuality to include 'cultural discourse'" (Gowler, 1999,
pg.197). So the challenge is how to understand Apostle Peter's organizational leadership and then
apply these concepts to today's organizational leadership. Below are my insights according to Bible
reading and extensive research of 1 and 2 Peter. In carrying out his mission, Peter persistently had to
struggle with questions of leadership with creativity and innovation. In a very significant sense, he
had to disconnect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The young men are supposed to submit to their elders. Peter devotes only four verses to the elders
but only a short verse to the young men due to the level of qualifications and or defense. The young
men are supposed to submit to their divinely appointed leaders since they need to gain wisdom and
practice in defense. Young men definitely need wisdom before going their own way when the right
time comes. Young men usually fail to appreciate the wisdom of the elderly and or wiser in the faith.
"Leaders can shape opportunities and motivations for storytelling" (Branson, et al., 2011, pg.53).
When young men "hear how the leadership of others has influenced them and their churches, they
can rethink what is important in their own praxes of leadership" (Branson, et al., 2011, pg. 54).
Therefore, the leadership of the elders need to be followed at all

LINK Two: CHANGES OF TEXTURE
LINK TWO: CHANGES OF TEXTURE The texture of a piece describes the harmonic interaction
within a piece. It expresses the way the parts and voices are woven together and is often referred as
the "fabric" of music. The four basic textures of music are monophonic, homophonic, polyphonic,
and heterophonic. Monophonic refers to an unaccompanied melody line, homophonic refers to a
accompanied melody, polyphonic is two contrasting melodies played together, and heterophonic
refers to a single melody played by two or more musicians. Some musical techniques, such as
imitation, canon, and fugal, are always polyphonic texture because there are more than one melody
being played at the same time. The texture of both my pieces are mostly homophonic because

Curl Pattern Vs. Hair Texture
Knowing Your Hair Type: Curl Pattern Vs Hair Texture, What's the Difference? As a natural hair
enthusiast, or as I like to call myself, a Naturalista, I believe it is important for all those who are
considering making the transition, the big chop, or who have transitioned (from relaxed to natural
hair), or have made the big chop to know the challenges you will face when it comes to making
these, in many cases, life altering decisions. I know this all sounds very dramatic, and for some it is.
So, for the sake of entertainment – and, if it will keep you reading, then let's continue with the
drama. For those of you who have no clue on where to begin, let me say this: The internet and
blogosphere is saturated with naturalistas like myself who have taken as much, if not more time to
learn all there is to know about how to care for our natural hair.
If you care enough to do the research yourself, you will find that the market for this particular niche
is very appealing to those who seek to make a profit. Of course it's because many of them know ...

When I think of textures, I think of how something feels to the touch, to the taste, and even to the
sight. Some textures are smooth and silky, while other textures are rigid and rough. Then, there's this
whole thing on porosity. I won't go into detail about porosity, but just know that if you've relaxed or
dyed your hair (and haven't chopped it off––sounds so drastic, doesn't it?) then more than likely the
porosity of your hair is high. The porosity of your hair determines how your hair may react to

Duane Hanson Analysis
Duane Hanson, born in 1925, used his traditional painting and sculpting techniques to create a
realistic sculpture of a football player. The work is known as Football Player, made in 1981. Hanson
used oil on polyvinyl, clothed, helmet, and styrofoam cup. By painting this sculpture realistically
with oils and adding real hair and clothes, this sculpture has been mistakenly thought of as a human
being. Hanson was able to create a mix media of a football player. His sculpture, Football Player,
focuses mainly on the details seen on a typical football player. For example, Hanson uses curly, dirty
blonde hair and adds hair on the player's forearms. He also creates the effect of sweat running down
the sculpture's face and showing dirt on the clothes. The sculpture is sitting on the helmet while
holding a styrofoam cup, giving the illusion of a tired ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hansen also shows off rough, smooth, matte, and shiny texture as well. One example of a rough
texture can be the clothes. The clothes that the sculpture is wearing are wrinkled and dirtied giving it
a rough texture. An example of a smooth texture can be the helmet. The helmet is smooth when you
touch it. An example of a matte texture can be the sneakers because the sneakers looks dull and
dirtied giving off a matte look. Finally, one example of shiny texture can be be the face. Hansen was
able to give off a sweaty look to the face. This gives the face a shiny texture. Hansen was able to use
these textures to create a realistic human being. The rough texture and shiny texture contrast with
each other, making the details on the face and arms pop out more. The rough texture and smooth
texture help the sculpture seem more realistic while showing off the matte textures. This artwork can
be defined as a geometric because a human being is symmetrical and use shapes to create the
structure. Unlike free form, human beings are not irregular shaped or non representational

The Form Of Dance In The Chinese Lion Dance
The word form can bring out lots of meanings such as shapes, structure, organisation or even
coherence. Well in music, the term form represents the organisation of musical elements in time.
Form can be made out from the mixtures of different pitches, tone colour of instruments, dynamics,
rhythm, melody and texture that interact to one another to produce a sense of shape and structure in
a composition. This is caused by the importance of every role that are played in making a spiritual
connection with music to our soul to make us feel the different emotions that are felt by us
humankind.
The overall form that is used in the Chinese Lion Dance music is in the form of Rondo. Actually
from the performances we can hear that the music in all the parts are different but there is only one
part that we usually will remember. Every different parts represents different motion and meaning of
the emotions of the lion and the actions that the lion is doing.
Rondo is a form of ABACA or even may be ABACADA and so on. It is a form that mostly have
different parts or different phrase of music joined together. So as in the music for the Chinese Lion

View Into A Hall With A Girl Analysis
Gabriël Metsu is a Dutch painter from the seventeenth century, which is known as the (Dutch
Golden Age). His works consist of still lives, portraits, history, and genre. One of his paintings is
called "View Into a Hall with a Jester, a Girl, and her Dog" which is painted around 1667. This
genre painting depicts a view through a hallway from the door with a jester, a girl and her dog.
Metsu uses elements of art and principles of design such as colour, texture, harmony, rhythm, space,
shape, and gradation to give the illusion that the viewers are part of the scene and enhances the

Metsu uses the element of art, space, to create a three–dimensional space in the composition. As a
result, the illusion of depth is given to make the painting look realistic. He uses several elements
such as line, colour, shape, and even principles such as harmony, rhythm, and gradation to enrich the
element of space. These aspects are noticeable through the floor tiles in the comparison to the girl in
foreground, which is in proportion to the humans in the background. Metsu creates the optical
illusion of a three–dimensional space on a two–dimensional surface through the floor tiles. For
example, the shapes of the floor tiles in the foreground are larger and gradually get smaller in the
background and the colour values of the floor tiles are lighter in foreground and progressively get
darker in the background. Since this painting mimics a three–dimensional space, the details of the
floor tiles get blurrier from the foreground to background. Metsu uses rhythm, a principle of design,
on the floor. The floor tile lines direct the viewer's eyes to the end of the hall. Principles such as
gradation and harmony are displayed on the floor tiles through elements including shape, colour,
and space. In addition, Metsu positions the girl in the foreground overlapping the door. This
demonstrates the actual size of the girl, which is relative to the size of the lady in the background. In
addition, the girl in the foreground

Changing Ethnic Texture Of The United States
James Banks once said, "Our nation 's motto is e pluribus unum––out of many, one. The changing
ethnic texture of the United States intensifies the challenge of educating citizens and creating an
authentic unum that has moral authority. An authentic unum reflects the experiences, hopes, and
dreams of all the nation 's citizens. An imposed unum, the kind that has existed throughout most of
the nation 's history, reflects one dominant cultural group. Our challenge, as a new century begins, is
to establish an authentic unum that has moral authority and yet create moral, civic, and just

This is primarily the result of culture being difficult to define. As explained in chapter one of
Multicultural Aspects of Human Behavior: A Guide to Understanding Human Cultural
Development, many have attempted to define culture however, they have failed to appropriately
define what culture is (Bryan, 2014). One example of the definition of culture is provided by the
University of Kansas. It states that culture refers to a group or community of people that share
common experiences and ideas which shape how the members interpret the world (University of
Kansas, 2014). Another working definition of culture is, the characteristics and knowledge of a
certain group of people, composed of such things as language, religion, music, and arts
(Zimmermann, 2015). Though both are fairly reasonable definitions, they are still incomplete due to
the complexity of concept, culture. There are several things that make culture difficult to define. For
starters, culture has no definite boundaries or limitations therefore, it can be influenced by many
things. O 'Neil (2006) suggested that regardless of what culture a community or group are a part of,
one thing is for certain, culture will change. Culture has become a key part of the interconnected
world, which is made up of so many ethnically diverse societies. Culture can no longer be assumed
to be fixed, if it ever was. Instead, it is essentially fluid and constantly in motion. This is one reason

Abstract: Incidence rate of skin cancer are increasing day by day. Skin cancer is one of the deadliest
forms of cancer but detected earlier can save the life time of the human being. An automated
screening system is introduced to identify the presence of skin cancer in advance. In this paper,
texture distinctiveness lesion segmentation algorithm is used. Experience and training–based
characteristics of back propagation neural network is used with texture distinctiveness lesion
segmentation algorithm, for identifying the normal and abnormal portions of skin .The most
commonly occurring skin cancers are Melanoma, Basal and squamous cell carcinoma and actinic

The Texture And Light And Shading
A picture has much to say for those who look, and illustrations are no exceptions. Every time we
open a book of fairy tales, there is always an illustration dominating at least a page within the text,
as if to say "I 'm here! Look at me! Look at what I have to say about this story!" An illustration can
give us details and clues that we may miss in the text, such as those concerning setting. The texture
and light and shading can convey a mood or an emotion, lending its depth to the text. As Hallet and
Karasek said in "Illustrations," "there can be no question but that pictures add one more dimension
to the various imaginative experiences of reading a tale, being read a tale, and being told a tale." In
short, an illustration, in context, is present to assist the reader 's imagination and to give more detail
and depth to the story. Illustrations are useful tools within a text as they give it more depth and add
details readers may not notice without it. As the text "Illustrations" states "the encounter between the
text and the reader 's imagination is made more complex by the contribution of the illustrator"
(Hallet and Karasek 139). Take, for example, Rumpelstiltskin by the Brothers Grimm. The
illustration that accompanies this version depicts the meeting of Rumpelstiltskin and the miller 's
daughter. Her father had lied to the king, claiming she possessed the talent to spin straw into gold.
The king, wanting to test this, locked the miller 's daughter in a room filled

Provisional Textures Of Reality Essay
It is interesting to look at how she has chosen the link that ties all these artists together. That she
chooses something without borders, the world of the unconscious, of dreams. It's simply brilliant,
and to me it's soothing that can encompass all emotion, all form and non–form. It is not limited to
anything but limit itself. It is her way of liberating something that has had a tendency to get stuck, to
leave room for uncertainty and certainty. It is a co–existence, like art deserves to be, with no
frontiers or barricades to enclose the cattle.
One of the first things that I highlighted with my neon pink gel pen in Hiller's The Provisional
Textures of Reality really marked itself in my mind as something essential to not only Susan Hiller's
way of expression, but my own. It began on the twenty–sixth page and leaked onto the next. It is
something that struck me to be a very valid and human concern.

Meaning and Texture of the Seventh Poem in Leaves of Grass
Walt Whitman's seventh poem in his work, Leaves of Grass, displays the subtlety with which the
poet is able to manipulate the reader's emotions. In this poem there are no particular emotional
images, but the overall image painted by word choice and use of sounds is quite profound. This
poem, like many others written by Walt Whitman, is somewhat somber in mood, but not morose. It
is serious, but not to the point of gloom. Whitman writes concerning the general idea that everything
is merged together and is one. One cannot die without being born, just as one cannot be a mother
without first having one. The purpose of the poem is to show those things that are real are ... Show

He makes many lines quite long, but only those that link ideas together. He speaks of death and birth
in the same line in the second stanza, just as he talks of male and female in the same line in the third
stanza. He does this to aid the reader in deciphering the meaning of the poem. Everything is truth;
everything is unified, even those things we perceive as opposite.
Strong adjectives illustrating his point are also prevalent in the poem. He writes, "I.../Am around,
tenacious, acquisitive, tireless...." He uses these words to merely illustrate the concept that the soul,
or omnipotent being, is always there watching. These adjectives make the poem more descriptive,
and they paint a more vivid picture in the reader's mind. Also, he chooses many words that have soft
sounds with endings like –ss, –th, etc. These words include, pass, earth, birth, and many others.
However, he then counterbalances these with harder sounding words like adjunct, immortal, and
begetters. Even the words of the poem serve to illustrate his point of universal unity.
The repetition in the poem also aids in understanding the overall message of the poem. He only says
what he is and what, "For me..." the world is. Whitman's manipulation of words portrays a more
optimistic, positive view, not a

Essay On Retrieval Process
Texture is one of the crucial primitives in human vision and texture features have been used to
identify contents of images. Examples are identifying crop fields and mountains from aerial image
domain. Moreover, texture can be used to describe contents of images, such as clouds, bricks, hair,
etc. Both identifying and describing characteristics of texture are accelerated when texture is
integrated with color, hence the details of the important features of image objects for human vision
can be provided. One crucial distinction between color and texture features is that color is a point, or
pixel, property, whereas texture is a local–neighborhood property. The main motivation for using

c. Laws Texture Energy Measures:

convolution masks of 5×5 which is represented by a nine element vector for each pixel.
SHAPE
Shape is an important visual feature and it is one of the basic features used to describe image
content. However, shape representation and description is a difficult task. This is because when a 3–
D real world object is projected onto a 2–D image plane, one dimension of object information is
lost. As a result, the shape extracted from the image only partially represents the projected object. To
make the problem even more complex, shape is often corrupted with noise, defects, arbitrary
distortion and occlusion. Further it is not known what is important in shape. Current approaches
have both positive and negative attributes; computer graphics or mathematics use effective shape
representation which is unusable in shape recognition and vice versa. In spite of this, it is possible to
find features common to most shape description approaches Usually, Shape features can be
extracted from an image by using two kinds of methods: contour and regions. Contour based
methods are normally used to extract the boundary features of an object shape. Such methods
completely ignore the important features inside the boundaries. Region–based image retrieval
methods firstly apply segmentation

Visual Techniques Used In The Very Hungry Caterpillar
Texture refers to the quality of an artwork. It can be observed in two ways. Optically (through sight)
and physically (through touch). In the book "The very hungry caterpillar", realistic detail was used
to create an imagination of texture. For example, the painting technique used to depict the tree trunk
and to highlight the hairs on the caterpillar's back made the illustrations fascinating to touch. Among
the different elements, colour is considered to be highly important since it is used to establish the
mood of the artwork. Since "The very hungry caterpillar was designed for preschoolers and infants,
bright colours were used to capture attention and stimulate excitement. The stunning butterfly at the
end of the story was displayed on two pages to highlight its beauty with its bright colours and to

The Horde Is An Example Of Frottage And Op Art
The media is chose to write about are frottage and op art. The artwork by Max Ernst, The Horde is
an example of frottage. Frottage is done when a piece of paper is placed over a textured surface and
rubbed over the picture to create texture. Ernst used spool of string and a crayon to create this effect.
Ernst started learning about texture from the layout of the land from flying many hours in an
airplane. He learned where to use frottage in a painting to show texture from just a flat photograph.
The Horde, was created using oil on a canvas. In oil paintings the colors are more vibrant due to the
slow drying time. It helps the texture show up where it should to give off the effects.
The other artwork I chose is called Op Art, meaning moving artwork. Bridget Riley's artwork called
Drift is an example of this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most op art is done in black and white and is done in acrylic paint on canvas. The acrylic paint dries
very quickly. The artwork is done in great mathematical detail and requires sharp crisp lines in order
for the painting to seem like it is in motion. Much like frottage, op art is an illusion. Where frottage
tricks your eyes into seeing visual texture, op art tricks your eyes into seeing actual movement that
isn't there. At first glance you can't see background or foreground. The brightness of the background
in frottage and the texture added allows you to see things in a different way. In frottage and op art
the textures must be in the right spot to give off the illusion. In op art if one line is off you can't see
movement. When Riley created the Drift she saw motion of temperature. She has the feeling of heat.
She wanted to create the same feeling onto the artwork she created by showing movement. But

This Community Base Spiral Texture Wall Was Design By Tara...
Our Lives Yesterday and Today
This community base spiral texture wall was design by (Tara Cady Sartorius, 2006) and sponsored
by the Central Alabama Community Foundation. The spiral texture title is a wonderful piece of
work that represents the expressions of more than 700 artists containing more than 1000 textured
titles using different kinds of material. I find this art to be abstract art, because this art stresses
elements of composition, rather than a subject. This body of work was designed with undefined
proportions and great balance. This piece of art has artistic element of color, line, shape, form, and
texture. The spiral was added to give tone and balance to the art and provide a smooth separation of
colors. These are some of thing that immediately drawls the viewer to the bodywork. The work is a
colorful representation of the past as well as the future showing all aspects of life. There was no
detail information on this collage of title work other than the name, but it spoke to me and I had to
share this with the class. If you didn't know anything about art, this work would get your attention
and show you the past and take you forward into today. The complimentary colors used in this
display has a smooth earthly tone, but as you view the artwork it has a very pleasant, comforting feel
as you view the mellow soft colors displayed in this design. This type of work has vivid elements, it

Description Of The Mid Length Design
Using these forms and various finishes will have you become the "go to" stylist for the long hair
client. Women who prefer to wear their hair long tend to shy away from salons because they fear
having the hair cut too short. Showing that you understand and have the knowledge to give them
what they want will get them to trust in you and your ability.
THE MID–LENGTH DESIGN
Probably the most versatile length is the mid–length design. This section will give the basic form,
and many adaptations and finishes.
Shampoo and condition the hair as usual. You will be using your honed edge shears for a wet cut.
Remember to continue to dampen the hair as you work through a wet cut, as we spoke about for
consistency. It bears repeating to have the client ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Take the sides over and behind the ear and sculpt even with the side back sections. The sides are
also cut at 0˚, or low projection. So far, we have just established the form. At this point, the hair
should be blown dry to examine its personality. Notice, we have purposefully left additional length
at the sides. This allows for shrinkage. We can always go back and trim shorter, if necessary. Once
the hair is dried, you will see that there is one smooth line from the center back to the sides. Any
trimming can be done now. The reason for this care is that the Mastoid bones cause the hair to split
behind the ear; and the Parietal bones can cause a lift in the same area. By creating more weight in
this area, we can successfully offset these natural tendencies. We are sure that you have seen poorly
performed bobs walking around.
Now, we need to work on the internal variations. If the design demands an all–one–length middle
and inner perimeters, you will still need to give some texture, internally, to these areas. Part off the
top layer of the head. Vertically section 1" panels and use the blenders at least 2 times on each
section. For a stronger texture of hair, you may wish to use your feather razor to remove some bulk
from these areas, while the hair is still wet. Again, because "short hair pushes long hair", the design
will have "bounce" and action when dried; but still maintain a smooth finish on the surface.
One variation that is popular is termed the "layered

The present study focused on investigating the growth mechanism of –oriented grains from low
strain to high strain. The orientation characterizations of Ti–5Al–5Mo–5V–1Cr–1Fe alloy under
different strain rates and compression temperatures were studied by EBSD technique. The dynamic
recrystallization grains were selected by the GOS method to reveal the effect of dynamic recovery
and recrystallization on texture evolution. 2. Materials and Experimental Procedures The Ti–5Al–
5Mo–5V–1Cr–1Fe alloy used in this study was obtained from a hot forged bar with a diameter of
350 mm. The composition of the alloy was 5.23 Al, 4.85 Mo, 4.93 V, 0.92 Cr, 1.17 Fe, and balance

Deformation parameters including the strain and strain rate exert an important influence on the
texture components during hot compression around β transus temperature. Figure 2 shows the
EBSD test results of the samples compressed at different strain rates of 1/s, 0.1/s, and 0.01/s by
reductions of 20%, 40%, 60%, and 80% at 1153K. Figure 3 shows the fractions of two main fiber
textures including and fiber textures. The two main texture components of the sample with 1/s strain
rate nearly retained the same volume fraction after 40% compression. The intensity of fiber texture
increased with decreasing strain rate. Especially, the sample compressed with 80% reduction under
0.01/s strain rate only showed texture. It can be deduced that at the initial stage of compression, the
strain rate has a weak effect on the texture evolution. With increasing deformation, low strain rate
may be benefit for the development of texture and texture is gradually weakened or even vanished.

Beethoven Homophonic Style
The symphony has three different textures: monophonic, homophonic, and polyphonic. Similar to
the Tabuh Pisan piece, there is a monophonic texture in playing the melody. Listening to only the
single melody line enables the audience to engrave the melody in their heads without the adornment
of an accompaniment line. By using this texture, Beethoven introduces the first melody line the rest
of the movement varied off on. Overall, texture changes, homophonic texture, polyphonic texture
and monophonic texture, are used to accentuate the technique of theme variation throughout the
movement. The polyphonic texture is shown through the fugal melody in measures 117–174. The
same melody is played in different parts at different times, which causes the melody to overlap,
creating two melodies that are played at the same time. Below is an example of the fugal subject, or
melody, played by different parts. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Tabuh Pisan, there are homophonic textures as well as monophonic textures because the solo
instrument is not accompanied as it plays in the introduction, however the Gamelan melody later
dominates it by playing the melody and is accompanied by the Kendang rhythm. In the Beethoven
Symphony, the textures are monophonic, homophonic and polyphonic. Monophonic texture is seen
when the melody is introduced by one instrument. It is also homophonic because there are single
melody lines that are accompanied by other instruments. However, when it plays a fugue or canon,
the texture is polyphonic because there are two melodies present at one time. Thus both pieces show

Essay on The Science of Rocks
1. According to Thompson and Turk (2011), there are two types of igneous rocks–extrusive and
intrusive–and the primary difference between the two types of igneous rocks is that the rocks are
formed in two separate locations: within the Earth's crust and on the Earth's surface (35). Extrusive
igneous rocks form when "magma rises all the way through the crust to erupt onto Earth's surface"
(35). Since the crystals do not have much time to grow, extrusive sedimentary rocks, also commonly
known as volcanic rocks, have "fine–grained textures, with crystals too small to be seen with the
naked eye" (Thompson & Turk, 2011, 36). For example, basalt is a common very fine–grained
volcanic rock. On the other hand, intrusive igneous rocks form when ... Show more content on

The difference in the mineral composition is apparent in the rocks' color and grain texture. Since
basalt is a mafic rock, it tends to have a dark green to black, dark color, while granite tends to have a
clear, white, and pink light color (Thompson & Turk, 2011, 37). Additionally, because basalt is an
extrusive igneous rock, it has a very fine–grained texture, meaning that the crystals are nearly
impossible to see (Thompson & Turk, 2011, 36). On the other hand, granite is an intrusive igneous
rock, meaning that it has a medium– or coarse–grained texture, where the mineral grains and
crystals are easily visible (Thompson & Turk, 2011, 36).
3. According to Thompson and Turk (2011), sedimentary rocks are broadly divided into four
categories: clastic, organic, chemical, and bioclastic rocks. Clastic sedimentary rock is "composed of
particles of weathered rocks, such as sand grains and pebbles (also known as clasts), which have
been transported, deposited, and lithified" (38). Clastic rocks, such as shale, siltstone, and sandstone,
are composed of fragments of older rocks: clay, silt, and sand (38). Moreover, organic sedimentary
rocks consist of "lithified remains of plants or animals," and the most common examples are coal,
which is made up of decomposed and compacted plant remains and

Analysis Of Body Like A Back Road
Throughout history, there has always been some form of music; however, the form and style have
changed over time. During the twentieth century, the gap between classical music and the "popular"
music widened, as people picked more of what they thought sounded pleasant. One of the popular
styles today is country and an example is "Body Like a Back Road" by Sam Hunt, which was
released in February 2017 as a single from his upcoming album. "Body Like a Back Road" is a song
that has a complex and changing texture which is created by varied musical elements and
composition throughout the piece. Throughout "Body Like a Back Road," the texture shifts
depending on the section and the topic. Texture in music is defined as the combination of musical
parts to compose the overall feeling and sound of a piece. The first portion of the song has a texture
that is average for the piece, which sets the overall jovial mood for the whole song. This mood is
caused by the overlapping of instruments and the rhythm. The main melody is played by an electric
guitar, which is then layered with the acoustic guitar. There is also an organ, drums, and some
background chatter which hooks the listener to listen to the song and makes them want to join
whatever else is going on. As the song goes into the first verse, extra percussion and some bass was
added which makes it a more dense texture. Also, the tune shifts to a more hip–hop feel rather than a
classic country feeling which draws in the listener as

Listening Assignment 4: Texture
Listening assignment 4– Texture Thanks to previous assignments where we listened to certain pieces
multiple times I was able to have an idea of what to identify each section as. From listening to just
the first piece "Gaude Maria Virgo", I got a sensation of it being a sacred piece and possible from
the medieval era; further more I was able to notice a slow moving bottom voice, along with a
Capella and elongation of a chant. This immediately triggered the idea that all of section A was most
likely pieces that represented polyphony, as I also recognized the piece "Alleluia" as a constant
melody and the rest having similar contours and rhythms. Transitioning to section B was pretty
confusing as most of these pieces I didn't recognize or remember,

Abstract– In this paper two set of edge–texture features is proposed such as Discriminative Robust
Local Binary Pattern (DRLBP) and Discriminative Robust Local Ternary Pattern (DRLTP) for
object recognition. The proposed DLBP and DRLTP are derived from the drawback of the Local
Binary Pattern (LBP), Local Ternary Pattern (LTP) and Robust LBP (RLBP).The LBP code and the
RLBP code are mapped in the same block .The proposed feature solves the problem of
discrimination between a bright object against dark background and vice–versa. The proposed
feature retains contrast information for representation of object contours the LBP, LTP and RLBP
discards. By this proposed features the objects in the image can be further analyzed for the exact
location of the object in the given image.

Color is the Most Demonstrative Visual Feature and Studied...
Color is widely remarked as one of the most demonstrative visual features, and as such it has been
largely studied in the context of CBIR, thus number one to a rich variety of descriptors. As
traditional color features used in CBIR, there are color histogram, color correlogram, and dominant
color descriptor (DCD) [1,3,4]. A simple color similarity between two images can be measured by
comparing their color histograms. The color histogram, which is a common color descriptor,
indicates the occurrence frequencies of colors in the image. The color correlogram describes the
probability of finding color pairs at a fixed pixel distance and provides spatial information.
Therefore color correlogram yields better retrieval accuracy in comparisonto ... Show more content

Texture is also an important visual feature that refers to innate surface properties of an object and
their relationship to the surrounding environment. Many objects in an image can be distinguished
solely by their textures without any other information. In conventional texture features used for
CBIR, there are statistic texture features using gray–level co–occurrence matrix (GLCM), Markov
random field (MRF) model, simultaneous auto–regressive (SAR) model, Wold decomposition
model, edge histogram descriptor (EHD), etc. Recently, BDIP (block difference of inverse
probabilities) and BVLC (block variation of local correlation coefficients) features have been
proposed which effectively measure local brightness variations and local texture smoothness,
respectively [9]. These features are shown to yield better retrieval accuracy over the compared
conventional features. Kokare et al. [10] designed a new set of 2D rotated wavelet by using
Daubechies eight tap coefficients to improve the image retrieval accuracy. The 2D rotated wavelet
filters that are non–separable and oriented, improves characterization of diagonally oriented
textures. In Ref. [11], He et al. presented a novel method, which uses non–separable wavelet filter
banks, to extract the features of texture images for texture image retrieval. Compared to traditional
tensor product wavelets (such as db wavelets), the new method can capture more

Food Texture And Taste Effect On Acceptance And Preference...
In the research article "The Relationship between Number of Fruits, Vegetables, and Noncore Foods
Tried at Age 14 Months and Food Preferences, Dietary Intake Patterns, Fussy Eating Behavior, and
Weight Status at Age 3.7 Years" by Mallan, Fildes, Magarey, and Daniels, they study the exposure to
higher amounts of vegetables, noncore foods (low nutrients) and fruits at 14 months of age to see if
it is connected to the consumption of these foods, as well as to the child's preference for these foods.
The authors also study these higher exposures to fruits, noncore foods and vegetables to see if it
relates to weight at age 3.7 and fear of new food. Moreover, they proposed the idea that; "Early food
texture and taste experiences effect acceptance and preference of food." Further, the authors study
these exposures to fruits and vegetables at 14 months of age because the eating behaviors and food
preferences of a child will be developing during that time, which will be important for the formation
of the child's diet patterns. In addition, the formation of the child's diet patterns has suggestions as to
whether or not the child will develop an unhealthy weight. Furthermore, the authors study people's
understanding of early feeding experiences, and examine children's early food exposure (Mallan,
Fildes, Magarey, Daniels, 2015).
To determine acceptance and preference of food, the authors examine children's early feeding
experiences and mother's knowledge of early feeding experiences.

Chanelle Botha 12k
An investigation on the use of ink and charcoal as a medium, as well as movement over time, in the
Time Series by Patricia March.
The works of Patricia March are predominantly charcoal works, with smaller aspects of ink, whilst
portraying insight of character, as well as how the body moves over a period of time. March uses the
perception of a figure moving, portraying the figure on one picture plane; but moving, as if this were
over a period of time. Figures appear walking or picking up an object and this is portrayed as one
character becoming three. In each different movement the figure is in a different position, as if
moving like in a real life situation. This reinforces the name of her series, Time, as it literally
perceives a figure or a few figures and their movements over a period of time. March studied a
master in cinematography. She was interested in movement and time, so since, she tried to apply her

Surface Texture And Journal Report
CHAPTER 3
SURFACE TEXTURE AND JOURNAL BEARINGAPPARATUS
Theoretical and experimental results show that the performance of a load–bearing surface in
hydrodynamic lubrication may be enhanced by 'engineering' a definable surface texture onto the
Inner Surface. These surface textures are in the form of protrusions (positive asperities) or cavities
(negative asperities) of known size and geometry. The benefits of such surface textures include
lower friction torque, higher load capacity and lower operating temperatures. The textured surface
affects positively the cavitation's zone by increasing the fully film fluid region. It helps in effective
lubrication and thus it optimizes the bearing performance.
In tribology, the four basic functions of texturing are:
1. To alter the flow and film thickness of lubricating fluids locally and across the contact region.
2. To serve as channels to supply lubricant to a surface.
3. To alter the bearing pressure distribution.
3.1 Surface Textures
The texture of any surface is defined by the inherent surface topography it exhibits. All surfaces
have a unique texture and structure and all manufactured surfaces are 'Engineered' [22]. Design
engineers have an understanding of the relationship between surface texture and its function.
Deterministic surface textures are those that have specific structured pattern and that are amenable
to a sensible description. Such deterministic surface textures are deliberately manufactured in order
to improve

College Essay On Hair Texture

  • 1. College Essay On Hair Texture Have you ever looked at people and wondered why everyone doesn't have the same hair texture. Everyone on this planet has a different hair texture than you, me, or your best friend. Hair texture is the measure of the circumference of the hair strand itself. There are several subcategories of hair texture that vary between very straight and fine to very curly and coarse. Everyone has a different hair texture and how they choose to accept and embrace depends on how they grew up. The way a person grows up will determine how they embrace their hair because a person brought up believing that their is ugly or that hair is beautiful will change how they embrace their hair. For example African American girls have always been told their hair is too ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. The Grand Canyon, A Landscape Made From Mixed Media The Grand Canyon, one of the United States most popular tourist attractions. The canyon has drawn various people to it, including artists who depict its beauty in multiple forms. Throughout this report, I will be discussing and critiquing Rose Eagers Grand Canyon, a landscape made from mixed media. While reviewing this piece of art at the Carnegie Art Center located in Turlock, CA; I learned a lot about the content. Rose Eager, in her later years was a victim of macular degeneration, a horrific disease of the eye that slowly changes the way we see. "Macular Degeneration recently diminished my ability to see color and depth, so I started a new series of work using achromatic neutrals, black, white, and grey over invented textural relief ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Eager has multiple aspects of her image that strongly support a formalist viewpoint. Her artwork has definite structural aspects that have a greater meaning then you originally think. To break down the image in even more depth, when you first glance at the image, the first area that your eye is drawn to is the tree, more specifically the tree branches. These branches are extremely textured, giving them almost a true bark like appearance. The leaves on the upper left corner of the piece look like they are almost protruding off of the rest of the image. The form of this image also adds to its components of formal analysis. Form is based on color, composition, texture and line. This image by Eager has all of these major elements. The composition is constructed with purpose, to show the flow and depth growing throughout the image. There are multiple lines in this art piece, the first can be seen through the top of the work, it goes through the tops of the trees and atop the mountain peaks. Then, there are implied lines, one can be seen between the mountain peaks coming towards the tree, or vice versa. The color scheme again follows her depiction of living with Macular Degeneration, she lost the ability to see colors, and in her image, she only used shades of greys and black. In order to combat the depth, she was losing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Laser Crack Measurement System for Pavement-Management Sytems Pavement–management systems (PMS) can work effectively only when they are constructed by organically combining all activities concerned with road pavement (planning, design, construction, maintenance, rehabilitation, evaluation, economic analysis, and research) and the data bank [1]. Then, the most important items are the establishment of a serviceability index, which represents pavement quality, and a prediction of performance, which is represented by the relation between time (and/or traffic) and the index. Pavement quality consists of two primary factors: riding quality and skid resistance. The factors influencing riding quality are pavement distress and/or roughness. Three major factors of pavement distress are cracking, rutting, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, measuring the macro texture is one of the essential components in pavement management applications. The requirements for acquiring these factors are the following: (1) That data–acquisition cost is as cheap as possible; (2) that data analysis can be done in a short time; and (3) that data acquisition doesn't influence the speed of other traveling vehicles, in particular on roads with heavy traffic [2]. Pavement surface distress measurement is an essential part of a pavement management system (PMS) for determining cost–effective maintenance and rehabilitation strategies. Visual surveys conducted by engineers in the field are still the most widely used means to inspect and evaluate pavements, although such evaluations involve high degrees of subjectivity, hazardous exposure, and low production rates. Consequently, automated distress identification is gaining wide popularity among transportation agencies [6]. With the advancement of 3D sensor and information technology, a high–resolution, high–speed 3D line laser imaging system has become available for pavement surface condition data collection. With the advances in sensor technology, a 3D line–laser–imaging– based pavement surface data acquisition system has become available. The Laser Crack Measurement System (LCMS) [7] can collect high–resolution 3D continuous pavement profiles for constructing pavement surfaces. The objective of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Analysis Of John Was An American Comic Book Artist John was an American comic book artist known for his work with EC Comic on Two–Fisted Tales and Frontline Combat, Marvel Comics on war and western comics, and a 45 year stint with the magazine Cracked. He was also one of the founding artists of Mad in 1952. Severin was insucted into the Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame in 2003 before passing away in 2012. Severin's strongest aspects of this piece are framing, line work, and detail. The framing is successful with the archway in the foreground of the environment. This black arch frames the whole piece. Within the arch, the skeletons create a secondary framing device, calling attention to the men on the stains. The immense detail in the skeletons allow them to work with the top arch ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The black placement is almost nonexistent except for inside the building in the background. This pulls the viewer to this spot, which is rather unimportant in the image, while the focus should be on the woman. This piece successfully utilizes hatching, black placement, and has reproduced a character who is identifiable. The hatching in the cloak of the character shows directionality without becoming too complicated can being distracting. The black placement in the cloak weights the character provides ground for him and the mailbox to sit on. The reproduction of a character is sometimes difficult to achieve without matching a certain style. Severin successfully achieves drawing Bilbo Baggins and having him recognizable, despite the name on the mail box to push recognition. The weakest aspect of the piece is acting. Bilbo is stiff, and white he is in the act of taking the mail out of the mailbox, he breaks the fourth wall by looking at the viewer. It would be more successful acting if he was looking at the action he was performing. The strongest aspect of this piece is line direction. In the water they encircle the action, and in the rocks they lead the viewer down into the water. They also aid in the creation of texture, rhythm, pattern, and framing. The texture created by the lines in the water reflect ripples that would actually occur in the real world. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The performances consisted of the clarinet, piano, djembe, drum, and a quartet. There were five pieces performed, four of the pieces were classical with one having a more tribal beat with the djembe. The first piece was titled Allegro Appassionato, op 43 written by Camille Saint–Saens. The piece started was started by the piano playing the melody. Then the clarinet accompanied the piano creating a homophonic texture. The timbre of the clarinet was very distinct over the piano. They continued playing then briefly there was a pause adding to the rhythm of the piece. Then the clarinet started to play solo creating a monophonic texture. The piano started to play again taking over the melody, with the clarinet accompanying. During this there was a distinct repetition of notes playing over and over by the clarinet. The texture created was homophonic as the piano and clarinet played in harmony. Then the texture switched to monophonic as the piano and clarinet went back and forth playing the melody solo. The piece ended with the piano and clarinet playing the same note, with the pianist letting the note fade out. The second piece was titled Lied written by Francios Rasse. The piece started with the piano playing the melody then the clarinet accompanied creating a homophonic texture. Then the piano and clarinet switched playing back and forth with brief ... • 11. Sacred Texture Analysis Essay Introduction To explore the use of innovation and creativity in leading the early Christian communities from insular spirituality to a global social or religious force, I am using the method of Sacred Texture Analysis. "Analysis of sacred text is a way of systemically probing dynamics across a spectrum of relationships between the humans and the divine" (Robbins, 1996, pg.4). "The sacred texture of a text is the formation and nurturing of religious community" (Robbins, 1996, pg.127). "Therefore, socio–rhetorical criticism extends intertextuality to include 'cultural discourse'" (Gowler, 1999, pg.197). So the challenge is how to understand Apostle Peter's organizational leadership and then apply these concepts to today's organizational leadership. Below are my insights according to Bible reading and extensive research of 1 and 2 Peter. In carrying out his mission, Peter persistently had to struggle with questions of leadership with creativity and innovation. In a very significant sense, he had to disconnect ... Peter devotes only four verses to the elders but only a short verse to the young men due to the level of qualifications and or defense. Young men definitely need wisdom before going their own way when the right time comes. Young men usually fail to appreciate the wisdom of the elderly and or wiser in the faith. "Leaders can shape opportunities and motivations for storytelling" (Branson, et al., 2011, pg.53). When young men "hear how the leadership of others has influenced them and their churches, they can rethink what is important in their own praxes of leadership" (Branson, et al., 2011, pg. 54). • 13. LINK Two: CHANGES OF TEXTURE LINK TWO: CHANGES OF TEXTURE The texture of a piece describes the harmonic interaction within a piece. It expresses the way the parts and voices are woven together and is often referred as the "fabric" of music. The four basic textures of music are monophonic, homophonic, polyphonic, and heterophonic. Monophonic refers to an unaccompanied melody line, homophonic refers to a accompanied melody, polyphonic is two contrasting melodies played together, and heterophonic refers to a single melody played by two or more musicians. Some musical techniques, such as imitation, canon, and fugal, are always polyphonic texture because there are more than one melody being played at the same time. • 17. Curl Pattern Vs. Hair Texture Knowing Your Hair Type: Curl Pattern Vs Hair Texture, What's the Difference? As a natural hair enthusiast, or as I like to call myself, a Naturalista, I believe it is important for all those who are considering making the transition, the big chop, or who have transitioned (from relaxed to natural hair), or have made the big chop to know the challenges you will face when it comes to making these, in many cases, life altering decisions. I know this all sounds very dramatic, and for some it is. So, for the sake of entertainment – and, if it will keep you reading, then let's continue with the drama. For those of you who have no clue on where to begin, let me say this: The internet and blogosphere is saturated with naturalistas like myself who have taken as much, if not more time to learn all there is to know about how to care for our natural hair. If you care enough to do the research yourself, you will find that the market for this particular niche is very appealing to those who seek to make a profit. Then, there's this whole thing on porosity. I won't go into detail about porosity, but just know that if you've relaxed or dyed your hair (and haven't chopped it off––sounds so drastic, doesn't it?) then more than likely the porosity of your hair is high. The work is known as Football Player, made in 1981. Hanson used oil on polyvinyl, clothed, helmet, and styrofoam cup. By painting this sculpture realistically with oils and adding real hair and clothes, this sculpture has been mistakenly thought of as a human being. Hanson was able to create a mix media of a football player. His sculpture, Football Player, focuses mainly on the details seen on a typical football player. For example, Hanson uses curly, dirty blonde hair and adds hair on the player's forearms. He also creates the effect of sweat running down the sculpture's face and showing dirt on the clothes. The sculpture is sitting on the helmet while holding a styrofoam cup, giving the illusion of a tired ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hansen also shows off rough, smooth, matte, and shiny texture as well. One example of a rough texture can be the clothes. The clothes that the sculpture is wearing are wrinkled and dirtied giving it a rough texture. An example of a smooth texture can be the helmet. The helmet is smooth when you touch it. An example of a matte texture can be the sneakers because the sneakers looks dull and dirtied giving off a matte look. Finally, one example of shiny texture can be be the face. Hansen was able to give off a sweaty look to the face. This gives the face a shiny texture. Hansen was able to use these textures to create a realistic human being. The rough texture and shiny texture contrast with each other, making the details on the face and arms pop out more. The rough texture and smooth texture help the sculpture seem more realistic while showing off the matte textures. You may have seen many retouching examples with grossly over–blurred skin with no visible pores or texture. Well in music, the term form represents the organisation of musical elements in time. Form can be made out from the mixtures of different pitches, tone colour of instruments, dynamics, rhythm, melody and texture that interact to one another to produce a sense of shape and structure in a composition. This is caused by the importance of every role that are played in making a spiritual connection with music to our soul to make us feel the different emotions that are felt by us humankind. The overall form that is used in the Chinese Lion Dance music is in the form of Rondo. Actually from the performances we can hear that the music in all the parts are different but there is only one part that we usually will remember. Every different parts represents different motion and meaning of the emotions of the lion and the actions that the lion is doing. Rondo is a form of ABACA or even may be ABACADA and so on. His works consist of still lives, portraits, history, and genre. One of his paintings is called "View Into a Hall with a Jester, a Girl, and her Dog" which is painted around 1667. This genre painting depicts a view through a hallway from the door with a jester, a girl and her dog. Metsu uses elements of art and principles of design such as colour, texture, harmony, rhythm, space, shape, and gradation to give the illusion that the viewers are part of the scene and enhances the subject matters to look realistic. Looking at the painting, immediately the viewers will encounter one of the first subject matter, the girl. In this composition, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Metsu uses the element of art, space, to create a three–dimensional space in the composition. As a result, the illusion of depth is given to make the painting look realistic. He uses several elements such as line, colour, shape, and even principles such as harmony, rhythm, and gradation to enrich the element of space. These aspects are noticeable through the floor tiles in the comparison to the girl in foreground, which is in proportion to the humans in the background. Metsu creates the optical illusion of a three–dimensional space on a two–dimensional surface through the floor tiles. For example, the shapes of the floor tiles in the foreground are larger and gradually get smaller in the background and the colour values of the floor tiles are lighter in foreground and progressively get darker in the background. Since this painting mimics a three–dimensional space, the details of the floor tiles get blurrier from the foreground to background. Metsu uses rhythm, a principle of design, on the floor. The floor tile lines direct the viewer's eyes to the end of the hall. Principles such as gradation and harmony are displayed on the floor tiles through elements including shape, colour, and space. In addition, Metsu positions the girl in the foreground overlapping the door. This demonstrates the actual size of the girl, which is relative to the size of the lady in the background. • 27. Changing Ethnic Texture Of The United States James Banks once said, "Our nation 's motto is e pluribus unum––out of many, one. The changing ethnic texture of the United States intensifies the challenge of educating citizens and creating an authentic unum that has moral authority. An authentic unum reflects the experiences, hopes, and dreams of all the nation 's citizens. An imposed unum, the kind that has existed throughout most of the nation 's history, reflects one dominant cultural group. Our challenge, as a new century begins, is to establish an authentic unum that has moral authority and yet create moral, civic, and just communities in which citizens from diverse racial, ethnic, and cultural communities will participate and to which they will have allegiance" (University of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is primarily the result of culture being difficult to define. As explained in chapter one of Multicultural Aspects of Human Behavior: A Guide to Understanding Human Cultural Development, many have attempted to define culture however, they have failed to appropriately define what culture is (Bryan, 2014). One example of the definition of culture is provided by the University of Kansas. It states that culture refers to a group or community of people that share common experiences and ideas which shape how the members interpret the world (University of Kansas, 2014). Another working definition of culture is, the characteristics and knowledge of a certain group of people, composed of such things as language, religion, music, and arts (Zimmermann, 2015). Though both are fairly reasonable definitions, they are still incomplete due to the complexity of concept, culture. There are several things that make culture difficult to define. For starters, culture has no definite boundaries or limitations therefore, it can be influenced by many things. O 'Neil (2006) suggested that regardless of what culture a community or group are a part of, one thing is for certain, culture will change. Culture has become a key part of the interconnected world, which is made up of so many ethnically diverse societies. Culture can no longer be assumed to be fixed, if it ever was. Instead, it is essentially fluid and constantly in motion. This is one reason ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Skin cancer is one of the deadliest forms of cancer but detected earlier can save the life time of the human being. An automated screening system is introduced to identify the presence of skin cancer in advance. In this paper, texture distinctiveness lesion segmentation algorithm is used. Experience and training–based characteristics of back propagation neural network is used with texture distinctiveness lesion segmentation algorithm, for identifying the normal and abnormal portions of skin .The most commonly occurring skin cancers are Melanoma, Basal and squamous cell carcinoma and actinic keratosis. The proposed system is to diagnose the presence of these skin cancers with high segmentation accuracy. Keywords: Melanoma, segmentation, skin cancer, texture, neural network. 1. Identifying The Original Image Data For Secrecy AN ALGORITHM TO OVERLAP THE ORIGINAL IMAGE DATA BY UNDISCLOSED SURFACE IMAGE DATA FOR SECRECY NIKHATH FAHANA1, RAM CHANDAR2 M.Tech Student, CSE, SVS Group of Institutions, Warangal, TS 1 Assist. Prof, CSE, SVS Group of Institutions, Warangal, TS2 ABSTRACT: The most of the recent work has spotlighted on texture synthesis by instance, where a source texture image is re–sampled by means of moreover pixel– based or else patch–based algorithms to create a novel synthesized texture image with related local appearance as well as arbitrary size. Texture synthesis has received much consideration in the recent times, in computer vision as well as computer graphics. This permits to take out secret messages and source texture from stego synthetic texture. Our proposed scheme can provide a variety of numbers of embedding capacities, generate a visually plausible texture images, and improve source texture. We suggest a novel method by means of reversible texture synthesis which conceals source texture image and embed secret messages all the way through procedure of texture synthesis. • 33. The Texture And Light And Shading A picture has much to say for those who look, and illustrations are no exceptions. Every time we open a book of fairy tales, there is always an illustration dominating at least a page within the text, as if to say "I 'm here! Look at me! Look at what I have to say about this story!" An illustration can give us details and clues that we may miss in the text, such as those concerning setting. The texture and light and shading can convey a mood or an emotion, lending its depth to the text. As Hallet and Karasek said in "Illustrations," "there can be no question but that pictures add one more dimension to the various imaginative experiences of reading a tale, being read a tale, and being told a tale." In short, an illustration, in context, is present to assist the reader 's imagination and to give more detail and depth to the story. Illustrations are useful tools within a text as they give it more depth and add details readers may not notice without it. As the text "Illustrations" states "the encounter between the text and the reader 's imagination is made more complex by the contribution of the illustrator" (Hallet and Karasek 139). Take, for example, Rumpelstiltskin by the Brothers Grimm. The illustration that accompanies this version depicts the meeting of Rumpelstiltskin and the miller 's daughter. Her father had lied to the king, claiming she possessed the talent to spin straw into gold. The king, wanting to test this, locked the miller 's daughter in a room filled ... • 35. Provisional Textures Of Reality Essay It is interesting to look at how she has chosen the link that ties all these artists together. That she chooses something without borders, the world of the unconscious, of dreams. It's simply brilliant, and to me it's soothing that can encompass all emotion, all form and non–form. It is not limited to anything but limit itself. It is her way of liberating something that has had a tendency to get stuck, to leave room for uncertainty and certainty. It is a co–existence, like art deserves to be, with no frontiers or barricades to enclose the cattle. One of the first things that I highlighted with my neon pink gel pen in Hiller's The Provisional Textures of Reality really marked itself in my mind as something essential to not only Susan Hiller's way of expression, but my own. It began on the twenty–sixth page and leaked onto the next. It is something that struck me to be a very valid and human concern. "I'm a big worrier and one of the things I tend to worry about periodically is the problem for artists, in particular, of pinning down thoughts and intuitions in ways that have nothing to do with the fluid movement of awareness. • 37. Meaning and Texture of the Seventh Poem in Leaves of... Meaning and Texture of the Seventh Poem in Leaves of Grass Walt Whitman's seventh poem in his work, Leaves of Grass, displays the subtlety with which the poet is able to manipulate the reader's emotions. In this poem there are no particular emotional images, but the overall image painted by word choice and use of sounds is quite profound. This poem, like many others written by Walt Whitman, is somewhat somber in mood, but not morose. It is serious, but not to the point of gloom. Whitman writes concerning the general idea that everything is merged together and is one. One cannot die without being born, just as one cannot be a mother without first having one. He speaks of death and birth in the same line in the second stanza, just as he talks of male and female in the same line in the third stanza. He does this to aid the reader in deciphering the meaning of the poem. Everything is truth; everything is unified, even those things we perceive as opposite. Strong adjectives illustrating his point are also prevalent in the poem. He writes, "I.../Am around, tenacious, acquisitive, tireless...." He uses these words to merely illustrate the concept that the soul, or omnipotent being, is always there watching. These adjectives make the poem more descriptive, and they paint a more vivid picture in the reader's mind. Also, he chooses many words that have soft sounds with endings like –ss, –th, etc. These words include, pass, earth, birth, and many others. However, he then counterbalances these with harder sounding words like adjunct, immortal, and begetters. Even the words of the poem serve to illustrate his point of universal unity. The repetition in the poem also aids in understanding the overall message of the poem. He only says what he is and what, "For me..." the world is. Examples are identifying crop fields and mountains from aerial image domain. Moreover, texture can be used to describe contents of images, such as clouds, bricks, hair, etc. Both identifying and describing characteristics of texture are accelerated when texture is integrated with color, hence the details of the important features of image objects for human vision can be provided. To compute the energy of texture it uses convolution masks of 5×5 which is represented by a nine element vector for each pixel. SHAPE Shape is an important visual feature and it is one of the basic features used to describe image content. However, shape representation and description is a difficult task. This is because when a 3– D real world object is projected onto a 2–D image plane, one dimension of object information is lost. As a result, the shape extracted from the image only partially represents the projected object. To make the problem even more complex, shape is often corrupted with noise, defects, arbitrary distortion and occlusion. Further it is not known what is important in shape. Current approaches have both positive and negative attributes; computer graphics or mathematics use effective shape representation which is unusable in shape recognition and vice versa. In spite of this, it is possible to find features common to most shape description approaches Usually, Shape features can be extracted from an image by using two kinds of methods: contour and regions. Contour based methods are normally used to extract the boundary features of an object shape. Such methods completely ignore the important features inside the boundaries. Region–based image retrieval methods firstly apply segmentation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Frottage is done when a piece of paper is placed over a textured surface and rubbed over the picture to create texture. Ernst used spool of string and a crayon to create this effect. Ernst started learning about texture from the layout of the land from flying many hours in an airplane. He learned where to use frottage in a painting to show texture from just a flat photograph. The Horde, was created using oil on a canvas. In oil paintings the colors are more vibrant due to the slow drying time. It helps the texture show up where it should to give off the effects. Women who prefer to wear their hair long tend to shy away from salons because they fear having the hair cut too short. The sides are also cut at 0˚, or low projection. So far, we have just established the form. At this point, the hair should be blown dry to examine its personality. Notice, we have purposefully left additional length at the sides. This allows for shrinkage. We can always go back and trim shorter, if necessary. Once the hair is dried, you will see that there is one smooth line from the center back to the sides. Any trimming can be done now. The reason for this care is that the Mastoid bones cause the hair to split behind the ear; and the Parietal bones can cause a lift in the same area. By creating more weight in this area, we can successfully offset these natural tendencies. We are sure that you have seen poorly performed bobs walking around. Similar to the Tabuh Pisan piece, there is a monophonic texture in playing the melody. Listening to only the single melody line enables the audience to engrave the melody in their heads without the adornment of an accompaniment line. By using this texture, Beethoven introduces the first melody line the rest of the movement varied off on. Overall, texture changes, homophonic texture, polyphonic texture and monophonic texture, are used to accentuate the technique of theme variation throughout the movement. The polyphonic texture is shown through the fugal melody in measures 117–174. According to Thompson and Turk (2011), there are two types of igneous rocks–extrusive and intrusive–and the primary difference between the two types of igneous rocks is that the rocks are formed in two separate locations: within the Earth's crust and on the Earth's surface (35). Extrusive igneous rocks form when "magma rises all the way through the crust to erupt onto Earth's surface" (35). Since the crystals do not have much time to grow, extrusive sedimentary rocks, also commonly known as volcanic rocks, have "fine–grained textures, with crystals too small to be seen with the naked eye" (Thompson & Turk, 2011, 36). Additionally, because basalt is an extrusive igneous rock, it has a very fine–grained texture, meaning that the crystals are nearly impossible to see (Thompson & Turk, 2011, 36). On the other hand, granite is an intrusive igneous rock, meaning that it has a medium– or coarse–grained texture, where the mineral grains and crystals are easily visible (Thompson & Turk, 2011, 36). 3. Clastic sedimentary rock is "composed of particles of weathered rocks, such as sand grains and pebbles (also known as clasts), which have been transported, deposited, and lithified" (38). Clastic rocks, such as shale, siltstone, and sandstone, are composed of fragments of older rocks: clay, silt, and sand (38). During the twentieth century, the gap between classical music and the "popular" music widened, as people picked more of what they thought sounded pleasant. One of the popular styles today is country and an example is "Body Like a Back Road" by Sam Hunt, which was released in February 2017 as a single from his upcoming album. "Body Like a Back Road" is a song that has a complex and changing texture which is created by varied musical elements and composition throughout the piece. Throughout "Body Like a Back Road," the texture shifts depending on the section and the topic. Texture in music is defined as the combination of musical parts to compose the overall feeling and sound of a piece. The first portion of the song has a texture that is average for the piece, which sets the overall jovial mood for the whole song. This mood is caused by the overlapping of instruments and the rhythm. The main melody is played by an electric guitar, which is then layered with the acoustic guitar. There is also an organ, drums, and some background chatter which hooks the listener to listen to the song and makes them want to join whatever else is going on. As the song goes into the first verse, extra percussion and some bass was added which makes it a more dense texture. As traditional color features used in CBIR, there are color histogram, color correlogram, and dominant color descriptor (DCD) [1,3,4]. A simple color similarity between two images can be measured by comparing their color histograms. The authors also study these higher exposures to fruits, noncore foods and vegetables to see if it relates to weight at age 3.7 and fear of new food. Further, the authors study these exposures to fruits and vegetables at 14 months of age because the eating behaviors and food preferences of a child will be developing during that time, which will be important for the formation of the child's diet patterns. In addition, the formation of the child's diet patterns has suggestions as to whether or not the child will develop an unhealthy weight. Furthermore, the authors study people's understanding of early feeding experiences, and examine children's early food exposure (Mallan, Fildes, Magarey, Daniels, 2015). The Time Series By Patricia March SBA Task 3 Conclusive Research Essay Chanelle Botha 12k An investigation on the use of ink and charcoal as a medium, as well as movement over time, in the Time Series by Patricia March. The works of Patricia March are predominantly charcoal works, with smaller aspects of ink, whilst portraying insight of character, as well as how the body moves over a period of time. March uses the perception of a figure moving, portraying the figure on one picture plane; but moving, as if this were over a period of time. Figures appear walking or picking up an object and this is portrayed as one character becoming three. In each different movement the figure is in a different position, as if moving like in a real life situation. This reinforces the name of her series, Time, as it literally perceives a figure or a few figures and their movements over a period of time. March studied a master in cinematography. She was interested in movement and time, so since, she tried to apply her vision about cinema into drawings. The movement of the people drawn, reminds me her some way to profundity of the human form ad how it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The scope of the creative experience was influenced mainly by Patricia March as her ideas influenced the idea of charcoal and ink drawings, as well as left–hand techniques. Her works allowed the exploration of new mediums and techniques, of which I had not used before. March also played a big role in influencing visual diary work and the direction of which I took when researching other artists. It is seen in resolution, that Patricia March, as well as her Time Series, created in 2011, have been a great influence, when involving aspects such as similarities, differences, technique, medium, the depth and scope pf creative process, on the creation of my own Self and Other year work ... Seminar topic focuses on talking head system.Talking head system is a technique in which an animated talking head generates lifelike face which is based on speech recognition. Talking head system converts this speech to an animated talking head having facial expressions and mouth movements. The seminar focuses on an approach that synthesizes ones' face using a two and half D head model, with the facial expression driven by speech.Such system can be made web enabled to take advantage of streaming technology.Use of lifelike talking heads improves the quality of communication as it makes the communication easy and friendly.he proposed implementation idea behind talking head system is to try to create visible overview of speaker that is to create an animated talking head by giving the speech as an input by the use of speech recognition algorithm.. As the system is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... and can choose the scale, rotation and translations. Surface Texture And Journal Report CHAPTER 3 SURFACE TEXTURE AND JOURNAL BEARINGAPPARATUS Theoretical and experimental results show that the performance of a load–bearing surface in hydrodynamic lubrication may be enhanced by 'engineering' a definable surface texture onto the Inner Surface. These surface textures are in the form of protrusions (positive asperities) or cavities (negative asperities) of known size and geometry. The benefits of such surface textures include lower friction torque, higher load capacity and lower operating temperatures. The textured surface affects positively the cavitation's zone by increasing the fully film fluid region. It helps in effective lubrication and thus it optimizes the bearing performance. In tribology, the four basic functions of texturing are: 1. To alter the flow and film thickness of lubricating fluids locally and across the contact region. 2. To serve as channels to supply lubricant to a surface. 3. To alter the bearing pressure distribution. 3.1 Surface Textures The texture of any surface is defined by the inherent surface topography it exhibits. All surfaces have a unique texture and structure and all manufactured surfaces are 'Engineered' [22]. Design engineers have an understanding of the relationship between surface texture and its function. Deterministic surface textures are those that have specific structured pattern and that are amenable to a sensible description. Such deterministic surface textures are deliberately manufactured in order to improve ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
