media
O Allow room for mistakes and feedback
O Tap into multiple intelligences by varying
instructional strategies
O Understand that creativity is essential to
students’ future in the job market (Clifford,
2012)

O Urge students to be reflective
O Utilize inquiry based questioning
O Begin class time with lower level activities
for recall
O Move to higher order thinking by utilizing
groups for discussion
O End class with whole group discussion
allowing students time to justify thoughts

Strategies for Teaching Creativity and Critical Thinking

Five Strategies to Promote Creativity O Establish expressive freedom and a safe environment O Use teaching strategies that rely on emotional connection, creative arts, and media O Allow room for mistakes and feedback O Tap into multiple intelligences by varying instructional strategies O Understand that creativity is essential to students’ future in the job market (Clifford, 2012)
  • 5. Five Strategies to Promote Critical Thinking O Urge students to be reflective O Utilize inquiry based questioning O Begin class time with lower level activities for recall O Move to higher order thinking by utilizing groups for discussion O End class with whole group discussion allowing students time to justify thoughts (Ennis, 2013)
