2. Two childhood friends grow apart after dramatic changes in
both their lifestyles. They later crossed paths but could not
be more different, one a well renowned detective, the other a
widely known criminal. Inevitably these two would clash and
Patrick, the detective, would have to bring his childhood
friend Frankie down.
Overview of our film
3. Promotional campaign
USP: Our unique selling point is the fact we are playing on the idea of having
two best friends become enemies which results in an ending that is not your
typical happy ending.
We are going to use our genre, crime thriller as well as our mysterious
characters who were once friends to emphasise our marketing products by having
the faces of our two main characters on both our magazine cover and our poster.
We are also going to use our film title as part of our promotional campaign as
we are going have both our main characters holding guns which matches the name
‘A Man and his Gun’.
4. We are focussing on showing the conflict between the two
characters as well as making sure the genre is clear to our
target audience.
We’re using titles as well as video footage to make sure our
story line is clear to the audience and there is no confusion
in what is happening throughout.
Idea for the teaser trailer
5. These two films both share a similar
genre and also use very similar
posters. For our poster we are going
to use this idea of two main
characters standing next to each
other. They both use the theme of
black and white to give a serious
look to the characters. It is also
used to show a divide or difference
in opinions.
Idea for the poster
6. The magazine cover is going to use a very similar style to
our poster. This will help to establish a clear brand behind
our film and characters and making sure people can easily
identify the genre.
Idea for magazine cover
7. A crime thriller of an American/English gangster film shows that the higher percentage of views are from the ages between
15-24 years of age and that's due to the enigma it appeals to a certain audience. For example the action and thrill these
films normally present attract the audience, and also the stereotype of a male also due to the violent and swearing that's
normally in these gangster films. There's a stat that 62% males prefer to watch american/english gangster films than the
minority of females is roughly 38%. Also class is a key element on who watches our type of genre, in this case a
'gangster' film. The interest shows to be from the upper average working class with 46% of them preferring to watch
gangster films, where as a roughly 20% of upper class watch these types of films. And the rest is a class of much less
wealth.
Target audience profile
8. The teaser trailer of Legend uses titles to tell the story
but does not give too much away, which is what we aim to do
in our teaser trailer.
