What does “Islam” mean?
The word الإسلام [Islam] is an infinitive word derived from س ل م [silm] root in if‘al pattern and used as noun and infinitive. The word silm means “release/keeping away; and to be distant from fear, doubt, trouble, lack of peace, unhappiness, fight, war, pain, suffering, material and spiritual inconveniences, weakness and decaying, and all the negativities.” This word is also the root of salim, selam, teslim, Islam etc. The word’s “Islam” form means “strengthening” [removal from problems, worries, fear, unhappiness, fights, wars, and similar negative things]. Hence, the religion Islam means the “the religion that strengthens humans [entire range of principles that protects and secures people by putting a distance between them and problems, worries, war, weakness, spiritual illness, unhappiness, and similar things].”

SURAH AL-ANBIYA (THE PROPHETS)
MECCAN PERIOD
Division: 324
1The reckoning of the people has got closer. Yet they do not care about it and
stay away.
2,3They heed to each new admonition/reminder coming from their Rabb [Lord,
the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the Sustainer] as if they are fun and games and their
souls amuse about it. And those who do wrong; act against their own good by
associating others with Allah whispered secretly among themselves: “Is he anything
but a human like you are?” Do you follow sorcery while seeing it?”.
4Say: “My Rabb [Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the Sustainer] knows every
word you uttered in the Heavens and on the Earth. And He is the Most Hearing and
the Most Knowing”.
5Yet they said: “These are a medley of dreams; nope, he has made them up;
nope, he is a poet. Then let him bring us evidence/a sign as those before him had”.
6None of the nations that We destroyed before them believed. So do you really
think they shall?
7And We sent wise and mature ones only to whom We have revealed [the
truth] as messengers before you.
If you do not know, ask the Companions of the Admonition/Scripture/those
who are knowledgeable in revelations.
8And We did not make those messengers dead people who did not eat. They
were not eternal/immortal either.
9Then We fulfilled Our promise to them. Thus We saved them and others they
wished to be saved. And We manipulated/destroyed those who had transgressed.
10No doubt that We have sent you a Scripture which contains your
admonition/honor and prestige. Will you still not believe despite all these?
11And We devastated many cities people of which used to do wrong; act
against their own good by associating others with Allah. And We made other peoples
inherit their lands.
2. 2
12And when they felt the severity of Our punishment, they would flee away
from it. -13Do not flee away, for your reckoning, go back to your homes where you
have been transgressing.-
14They said: “O woe to us! Surely, we have been doing wrong; acting against
our own good”.
15Their call did not stop until We made them like harvested crops and
quenched furnaces/ashes.
(73/21; Al-Anbiya/1-15)
Division: 325
16And We did not create the Heavens and the Earth and all that is in between to
play.
17If We wished to amuse we surely would have it from our vicinity, Were We
do it.
18Quite contrary, We smash the superstition with the Truth that it scatters into
pieces. Then you would amaze at how the superstition perished. O woe to you for the
titles you ascribe to Allah!
19,20All that is in the Heavens and on the Earth belong only to Him. Those who
are with Him cannot despise not tired of being His servant and they continuously
exonerate Him for all deficiencies, day and night.
21Or have they adopted deities from the Earth hoping they shall resurrect/revive
themselves?
22If there were other gods in the Heavens and on the Earth beside Allah, both of
them would surely have been in chaos/confused. Then exonerated is Allah, Rabb
[Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the Sustainer] of the greatest Throne301 from all
that they ascribe to Him.
23Allah, Rabb [Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the Sustainer] of the Throne
may not be held responsible for what He does but they shall be for theirs.
24Or have they adopted gods from His subordinates? Say: “Bring your manifest
evidence. This is the admonition for those who follow me and those before me”.
Quite contrary, most of them do not know the Truth. They are the ones who turn
away.
(73/21; Al-Anbiya/16-24)
3. 3
Division: 326
25And We revealed to all Our messengers before you: “The Truth is that there
is no god but Me. Therefore, worship me”.
26-28And they said: “Rahman [Allah; The One Who is the Most Merciful
Towards His Creations on the Earth] has begotten children”. Exonerated is Rahman
from begetting children. On the contrary, they are blessed servants. They cannot
prevail over His words; they fulfill His commands. He knows what is in front and
behind those whom they assumed to be the children of Rahman. And they cannot
aid/support other than those whom He favors. And they tremble in awe due to their
deep respect and love to Him, fearing to be away from Him.
29And whoever from among them says: “I surely am a god from among His
subordinates”, We surely will doom him to Jahannah [Hell]. Thus We punish those
who do wrong; act against their own good by associating others with Allah.
(73/21; Al-Anbiya/25-29)
Division: 327
30And did the infidels; those who consciously deny the Divinity of Allah and
the fact that He is Rabb [Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the Sustainer] not see that
We separated the Heavens and the Earth when they were conjoined and We created
everything that lives from liquid? Do they not believe despite all these?
31And We made firm stakes into the Earth to serve you as a canopy. And We
made many paths there so they may find the path they are guided.
32And We made the Heavens a protected ceiling. Yet they are the ones who
turn away from the Ayat of the Heavens.
33And He is the One Who created the night, the day, the sun and the moon.
They all float around an orbit.
34We never gave to a human before you immortality. Then if you die, would
they live eternally?
35Every soul will taste the death. And We trial you with evil and good just to
melt and make you pure. And you shall be returned only to Us.
(73/21; Al-Anbiya/30-35)
Division: 328
4. 4
36And when the infidels; those who consciously deny the Divinity of Allah and
the fact that He is Rabb [Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the Sustainer] see you,
they only mock you; “It is he who talks about your deities?”. But they are the ones
who consciously deny to remember Rahman [Allah; The One Who is the Most
Merciful Towards His Creations on the Earth], and His admonition, the Scripture, the
Qur’an.
37Man was created to be hasty. I will soon show you My evidence. Now do not
urge me.
38And the deniers say: “If you are righteous, when this promise will be
fulfilled?”.
39If only the infidels; those who consciously deny the Divinity of Allah and the
fact that He is Rabb [Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the Sustainer] knew about the
day when they shall not be able to keep the fire away from their faces and backs and
they shall not get any help at all!
40And the punishment will seize them unexpectedly and make them
bewildered. They shall not be able to avert it from themselves and they shall not be
given a respite.
41And surely, many messengers before you were mocked and the mockers were
surrounded by that which they mocked.
42Say: “Who can save you by night and by day from Rahman [Allah; The One
Who is the Most Merciful Towards His Creations on the Earth]?”. Then they are the
ones who turn away from remembering their Rabb [Lord, the Cherisher, the
Nurturer, the Sustainer] and His admonition.
43Or there are deities from among Our subordinates who forbid them? Those
fake deities cannot help them. And they shall not be helped by Us either.
44We actually let those infidels and their ancestors enjoy their worldly lives
until they felt they lived a long life. Now can they not see that We have come upon
the Earth and been reducing it from its edges? Then are they the ones who have
prevailed?
45Say: “I only warn you with the revelation”. They are deaf to the warning so
they do not respond to it.
46And surely, when a breeze from the wrath of your Rabb [Lord, the Cherisher,
the Nurturer, the Sustainer] touches them, they shall surely say: “O woe to us! We
surely have done wrong; acted against our own good”.
5. 5
47And We will place “the scales of justice” for the Day of Qiyamat
[Resurrection]; no one will be treated unjustly by any means. That which is the
weight of a mustard seed We will bring it forth. And We are sufficient as accountant.
(73/21; Al-Anbiya/36-47)
Division: 329
48,49And surely, We gave Moses and Aaron a light and the admonition to
convey it to the people who are in awe against their Rabb [Lord, the Cherisher, the
Nurturer, the Sustainer] with respect and love and knowledge in the unseen, unheard
and unfelt desolate places, and those who shake with fear of Qiyamat [Resurrection],
those who surrender themselves under the guardianship of Allah.
50And the Qur’an is a holy admonition sent down by Us. Then, are you the
ones who do not introduce it to the people or who forbid it?
51And surely, We gave upon Abraham his right conduct before. And We were
the one who knew him. 52And when Abraham said to his father and people: “What
are those statues upon which you insist to worship?”.
53They said: “We found our ancestors worshipping these”.
54Abraham said: “I swear by Allah that you and your ancestors are in blatant
perversion”.
55They said: “Have you brought us the Truth or are you among those who
jest?”.
56,57Abraham said: “Quite contrary, your Rabb [Lord, the Cherisher, the
Nurturer, the Sustainer] is Rabb [Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the Sustainer] of
the Heavens and the Earth; He created them from nothing. And I am among those
who testify this. I swear by Allah that, after you turn and go away, I will surely plot
against your idols”.
58Then Abraham scattered them all except for the larger ones among them so
they may apply to him.
59His people said: “Who did this to our idols? He surely is one of those who do
wrong; act against their own good”.
60Some of them said: “We heard a young man who was talking against them.
He is called “Abraham””.
6. 6
61They said: Then, bring Abraham before the people so they may testify against
him”.
62They said: “O Abraham! Did you do this to our idols?”.
63Abraham said: “Quite contrary, that large one did it. Ask him if they can
speak”.
64Then they turned to their selves and said: “Surely, we are the ones who do
wrong; act against their own good”.
65Then they returned to their minds and said: “You surely know that they could
not speak”.
66,67Abraham said: “Then, do you worship the subordinates of Allah that cannot
avail nor harm you in any way? Then woe to you and those subordinates of Allah
which you worship! Will you not still reason?”.
68His people said: “Burn him if you can [throw into fire, put him into trouble]
thus helping your gods”.
69We said: “O fire! Be cool and safe for Abraham”.
70And they plotted against him but We made them lose/suffer.
71And We saved and delivered Abraham and Lot to the lands in which are
blessings in abundance for all universes.
72And We bestowed upon him Isaac and also Jacob. And We made them all
good people.
73And We made them leaders who guided people upon Our command. And We
revealed to them to do good deeds, perform Salat [Support financially and spiritually;
establish and maintain institutions that enlighten the community] and give zaqat/tax.
And they worshipped only us.
74And as for Lot; We gave him the judgment and knowledge. We saved him
from the city people of which did evil deeds. They surely were an evil, transgressing
people.
75And We made Lot admit into Our mercy. Surely he was among the righteous.
76And as for Noah; When he called to Us and We responded him. Then we
saved him, his family, his relatives and the believers from a great calamity.
7. 7
77And We helped him against the people who denied Our Ayat. Surely, they
were an evil people and We drowned them all in water.
78And as for David and Solomon; When they were judging about the crops
upon which the sheep of their people fed on in the night. And We knew the judgment
of their people.
79Then We made Solomon to comprehend it immediately. And We gave them
all judgment and knowledge. And We took mountains and birds under Our
command/we created them in a way that people may benefit from them so they might
exonerate Allah from all deficiencies with David. And We were the one who did all
these.
80And We taught him how to make armors for you in order to protect you from
the evil of you. Are you grateful now for what you have been given?
81And for Solomon We made the wind that stormed towards the lands upon his
command which We bestowed with blessings in abundance prostrate before him.
And We are the Most Knowing of all things.
82And We made the devils that dived for him and other devils that do lesser
jobs prostrate as well. And We were the Protector for them.
83,84And as for Job; When he called his Rabb [Lord, the Cherisher, the
Nurturer, the Sustainer]: “I surely have been touched by distress. You are the Most
Merciful of all those merciful” We responded him. We removed upon him the
distress. And We gave him back his family, relatives and all that he had lost and
doubled them as a mercy of Ours and as an admonition to all Our servants.
85And as for Ishmael, Idris [Enoch?] and Dhul-Kifl [Ezekiel?] were all people
of patience.
86And We admitted them all into Our mercy. They surely were among the
righteous.
87And as for Dhul-Nun [Jonas; the one who possesses the sword; the one from
Nineveh]; When he left in anger, assuming that We would not put him in trouble.
Then in darkness he called upon Us: “There is no god but You! I hereby exonerate
you. I surely have been among those who do wrong; act against their own good!”.
88Then We responded to him and saved him from distress/agony. Thus We
save the believers.
89,90And as for Zechariah; When he called upon his Rabb [Lord, the Cherisher,
the Nurturer, the Sustainer]: “O my Rabb [Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the
8. 8
Sustainer]! Do not leave me alone; You are the Best of all inheritors” and We
responded to him. And We bestowed him John the Baptist. And We healed his
wife/made her fertile. Surely, they were racing each other in doing good deeds, and
invoking Us in hope and fear. And they felt a deep respect to Us.
91And as for that woman who meticulously protected her chastity; We
informed her with our reliable knowledge. We made her and her son evidence/a sign
for all universes.
92Surely, this is your community as the one united community. And I am your
Rabb [Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the Sustainer]. Then worship me.
93Yet those who associate others with Allah divided their affairs among
themselves. They shall be returned only to Us.
94Therefore, whoever does good deeds as a believer; his endeavors will not be
rejected. We surely record them.
95And upon a city that We manipulated/destroyed is the prohibition: “They
surely will not return!”.
96And when the Raiders and their commander are released302, they shall swarm
down from the high hill.
97And when the true promise is close, eyes of the infidels; those who
consciously deny the Divinity of Allah and the fact that He is Rabb [Lord, the
Cherisher, the Nurturer, the Sustainer] will pop out with fear: “O woe to us! We
surely have been unaware of/apathetic to this. Indeed we were wrong-doers; acted
against our own good”.
(73/21; Al-Anbiya/48-97)
Division: 330
98Surely, you and those subordinates of Allah whom you worship are the
wood/fuel of the fire of Jahannah [Hell]; you shall be thrown into it.
99,100Were those subordinates of Allah whom you worship gods, they would not
been thrown into Jahannah [Hell]. And they all shall abide there eternally. They shall
moan in pain there. And they shall not be able to hear there.
(73/21; Al-Anbiya/98-100)
Division: 331
9. 9
101,102Surely, those for whom “The Best” is prepared by Us; they shall be kept
away from Jahannah [Hell]. They shall not hear the moaning coming from Jahannah
[Hell]. They shall abide eternally among that which their souls desire.
103And the greatest fear will not grieve them and the harbingers of good tidings
will remind them: “This is the day you have been promised”.
(73/21; Al-Anbiya/101-103)
Division: 332
104When We roll the Heavens like the books are rolled, We will recreate it from
the beginning –as a promise from Us.-. We surely will do it
(73/21; Al-Anbiya/104)
Division: 333
105And surely, after the Admonition/Torah, We wrote, ‘Surely, only My
righteous servants will inherit the Earth’ in the Psalms as well.
106Surely, there is a message in the Qur’an to be conveyed to a people who
worship.
107And We have sent you only as a mercy/for mercy upon all universes.
108Say: “I am being revealed, ‘your God is the One God’. Now, will you be
Muslims?”.
109-111Should they turn away despite this, say: “I have explained to you
straight/equally/unbiased and I do not know if that which you are threatened is close
or far. Surely, Allah knows that which is disclosed in speech and that which is hidden
as well. I do not know ‘if this respite is given to test you and let you enjoy the
worldly life for a predetermined term’”.
112Say: “O my Rabb [Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the Sustainer]! Judge
among us with the Truth” and “Our Rabb [Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the
Sustainer] is Allah, Who is the Most Merciful upon all creatures He created on the
Earth; the One Who is invoked for His help against your ascriptions”.
(73/21; Al-Anbiya/105-112)
