What does “Islam” mean?
The word الإسلام [Islam] is an infinitive word derived from س ل م [silm] root in if‘al pattern and used as noun and infinitive. The word silm means “release/keeping away; and to be distant from fear, doubt, trouble, lack of peace, unhappiness, fight, war, pain, suffering, material and spiritual inconveniences, weakness and decaying, and all the negativities.” This word is also the root of salim, selam, teslim, Islam etc. The word’s “Islam” form means “strengthening” [removal from problems, worries, fear, unhappiness, fights, wars, and similar negative things]. Hence, the religion Islam means the “the religion that strengthens humans [entire range of principles that protects and secures people by putting a distance between them and problems, worries, war, weakness, spiritual illness, unhappiness, and similar things].”

SURAH YA-SIN
MECCAN PERIOD
Division: 91
1Ya/10, Sin/60.126
2-6I hereby adduce the Qur’an, the Scripture that contains the laws sent by the
One Who is the Omnipotent, the Most Supreme, the Most Honorable, the
Invincible/the Most Victorious, the Most Merciful to warn those people whose
ancestors were not warned and thus who are apathetic; and is forbidden from
manipulation, that you are among those messengers, and surely you are on a
righteous path.
7Surely, the Word127 has been proven true upon most of this society whose
ancestors weren’t warned. So they do not believe.
8Surely, We have put shackle on their necks. So high they reach to their chins.
Thus their noses are aloft. 9An We have created a bar before them and another after
them. Thus We have surrounded them. Now they cannot see. 10And it is the same for
them whether you have warned them or not, they shall not believe.
11Surely, you will warn those who follow the Qur’an and turns to the Most
Beneficent [to Allah, the Most Merciful to His creations on the earth] in awe with
respect, love and knowledge even in unseen, unheard, unfelt places. You give them
the good tidings on the forgiveness and the reward.
12Surely, only We can resurrect the dead. And We write down what they have
submitted before and their works. Then, We have counted and recorded everything in
“a clear pioneer/the Qur’an”.
13Tell those apathetic people about the companions of that city. That We sent
messengers to them.
14That We sent them two messengers, and they denied both of them. Then We
sent the third one and they said: “Surely we are the messengers too”.
15Then they said: “You are a mere human as we are. The Most Beneficent [to
Allah, the Most Merciful to His creations on the earth] have sent nothing. You are
telling lies”.
16,17And the messengers said: “Our Rabb [Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the
Sustainer] knows that we are truly messengers sent for you. Our task is to convey
clearly”.
2. 2
18Then the people of that city said: “Surely, you are an evil omen for us. If you
do not desist, surely we will stone you to death and you will suffer in our hands”.
19And the messengers said: “Your evil omen is with yourselves. Is it because
you have been given admonition? You truly are a transgressing people”.
20-25Meanwhile, there came a man from the farthest side of the city, running.
He said: “O my people! Follow them messengers! Follow those who do not ask you
for a fee for they have found the righteous path you are being guided. Who am I to
refuse worship the One who created me from nothingness? And you will be turned to
Him alone. Shall I adopt idols from those who are inferior to Him? If the Most
Beneficent [to Allah, the Most Merciful to His creations on the earth] intends a
punishment upon me, no idol can help me and those idols cannot save me. Surely, I
was in perversion when I worshipped idols. Surely, I have believed your Rabb Lord,
the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the Sustainer]. So listen to me!”.
26,27And it was said: “Enter Jannah [Heaven/Paradise]!”. And he said: “I wish
my people could know that my Rabb Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the
Sustainer] has forgiven me and made me one of those who are honored”.
28,29And We did not send down an army upon his people, and We would not.
Only a scream! Then you would see that they were quenched.
30O! Alas for my servants that they would ridicule every messenger who had
been sent for them.
31,32Have they not seen that We destroyed many generations before them and
they shall not return to them? They all shall be gathered only in Our presence.
33And a barren land is evidence for an apathetic people. We have brought life
to it and grew grains from it so they eat.
34,35And We created gardens and vineyards for them to eat their crops, eat what
they produce. We caused springs to burst in those gardens. Will they not repay for
what they have been given?
36Exonerated is the One, who grows plants from the ground, who creates in
pairs their very souls and many things that they would never know, from all
deficiencies.
37And the night is evidence for that apathetic people. We strip the Day off the
night so they are left in the darkness.
3. 3
38And the Sun, which runs on its predetermined course, is evidence for that
apathetic people. This is the arrangement of Allah, the Omnipotent, the One who is
Exalted in Knowing.
39And the Moon, which revolves through its phases until it returns as an old,
dry date stalk, is evidence for that apathetic people.
40It is not appropriate for the Sun to reach the Moon. And the day is not
allowed to overtake the Night. And in an orbit they all swim.
41,42Surely, it is evidence for that apathetic people that We carried their
ancestors on a full vessel and We have created similar one for them to ride.
43,44And if We wish, We would drown them in the water – other than showing
them mercy and giving them respite to benefit from the earth – so there would be no
one to hear their cries. And they would not be saved.
45,46And when they were told: “Surrender yourself to Allah and perhaps you
will be shown mercy, you will be spared from punishment for what you have done
and you will do and your past and future mistakes as your ancestors were, and to
avoid from the troubles you will suffer in Akhirat [Afterlife]” and one of the Ayat
that had been sent by their Rabb [Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the Sustainer]
was recited to them, they became among those who denied him.
47And when they were told: “Spend from what Allah has given you; procure
sustenance for others”, those infidels; those who consciously denied the Divinity of
Allah and the fact that He is Rabb [Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the Sustainer]
said to the believers: “Should we feed the one whom Allah could have fed if He
wished? You are in a manifest perversion”.
48And that apathetic people say: “If you are righteous, when is the threat that
we have been promised?”.
49,50And when they dispute among themselves, they shall be seized by a single
scream. Then they shall not be able to give their wills. And they shall not be able to
return their families.
51And the Sûr will be blown.128 And then they shall hasten to their Rabb [Lord,
the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the Sustainer] at once.
52They shall say: “O woe to us! Who has resurrected us from where we have
been resting? This is surely what the Most Beneficent [to Allah, the Most Merciful to
His creations on the earth] promised to us. The messengers told the truth”.
4. 4
53And there will be a single scream. And then they shall be “ready” in Our
presence. 54So no one will be treated unjustly today. And you will be punished or
rewarded only for what you do.
(41/36; Ya-Sin/1-54)

55Truly, the Companions of Jannah [Heaven/Paradise] will rejoice today.
56They shall relax on their seats, under shadows, with their escorts.
57Only for them will be the fruits. They shall have all they wish.
58”Peace” will be the word from Rabb [Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the
Sustainer], the Most Merciful.
59O you infidels! Stand apart today!
60-62Did I not give my covenant, saying: “O Children of Adam! Do not worship
Satan for He is your enemy, but worship Me; this is the righteous path and surely
Satan already led many generations astray”? Did you not use your thinking ability?
63This is Jahannah [Hell] that has been promised to you.
64Lean onto it today for what you used to deny consciously! 65Today We will
seal their mouths; They shall speak with their hands and their feet will witness what
they have earned.
(41/36; Ya-Sin/55-65)

66If We wished, We would have made them blind so they would have rushed to
the path. How would they have seen?
67And if We wished, We would have deformed them so they would not be able
to proceed nor return.
68And whoever We granted a long life, We can reverse/make him upside down
in the creation. Will they not still understand?
(41/36; Ya-Sin/66-68)

69,70And We did not teach him the poetry. That would not suit him anyway. It is
only an admonition; the Qur’an sent down to warn those who live and to prove my
word true upon those infidels; those who consciously deny the Divinity of Allah and
the fact that He is Rabb [Lord, the Cherisher, the Nurturer, the Sustainer].
(41/36; Ya-Sin/69-70)

71Do they not see that We have created various beasts from our creation, so
they dominate them?
72And We made them inferior to them. Therefore, they ride them. And they eat
them.
73And many more benefits and drink will be for them. Will they still not repay
for what they have been given?
74And they have adopted idols from among those who are inferior to Allah to
help them.
75They cannot help them. Yet, those who worship so-called gods are like
soldiers who are ready to serve to them.
76Then, do not offend for what they say. Surely, We know what they hide and
what they announce.
77And has that person not realized that We created him from the semen/a drop
of liquid, so he is a blatant enemy to us?
78And he has given Us examples, not considering his own creation, and he said:
“Who will resurrect those bones? They are decayed!”.
79,80Say: “The One who created them in the first place will resurrect them. And
He knows how to create. He is the One who produces fire/oxygen from a green tree.
Now, you burn [breathe] that oxygen.
81Is He not the One who can create the Heavens and the Earth, and many more
like them? Yes indeed He is! And His creation is perfect; He knows the best.
82Surely, when He wishes anything, He only commands/says “Be!” and it will
be immediately.
6. 6
83Then, Exalted is Allah, who possesses and rules all, from all deficiencies.
And only to Him you will be turned”.
