This document discusses MOOCs (massive open online courses), including their importance in teaching and learning, purposes, types, and history. MOOCs provide educational content online without charge to large numbers of people worldwide. They originated in 2008 and grew through organizations offering courses from prominent professors. Content is typically video lectures and assignments are computer-graded or peer-assessed, with little professor interaction. There are cMOOCs promoting open education and networks and xMOOCs promoting similar ideas. The document also discusses the presenter's field of interest, positive psychology, and proposed MOOC topic on research findings and applications from this field.

3. SIGNIFICANCE USE OF MOOCS IN
TEACHING AND LEARNING.
Provide clear, explicit communication about exactly what students
need to do to succeed in the course.
Deliver information consistently each week.
Help students build a supportive learning community. Make sure
the online forum is used well to offer a place for students to
connect, construct, and make meaning.
4. WHAT IS A MOOC?
• A Mooc is a course of study made
available over the Internet without
charge to a very large number of
people.
• A massive open online course (MOOC)
is a model for delivering learning
content online to any person who
wants to take a course, with no limit
on attendance, does not require
specific requirement and is accessible
all over the world.
5. WHERE DO MOOCS COME
FROM (MOOC HISTORY)?
Massive open online courses originated in
2008 and became more widely known when
they emerged on a larger scale through
private, non-profit organizations and
featured influential professors. These
massive online college classes have had up
to hundreds of thousands of students at a
time. Content is normally presented
through video lectures, assignments are
assessed by computers or other students,
and professors have little, if any, face-to-
face interaction with students.
