1. LOCATION RESEARCH
RICHMOND PARK
I decided to travel to Richmond in
order to do recce’s and take
photographs while I was there. I
explored the forest where it had a lot
of tree’s and took shots of where it is
suitable to film our music video. I
mostly enjoyed analysing and
visualising what type of shots we will
be using, the way in which we will film
each sequence and the scenes that will
occur while filming
I also liked how the area is not very
risky when we filmour music video; it
is quite open to the public eye and it is
not difficult to travel to Richmond Park.
The forest gives that artsy vibe when
we use a prop which is a smoke
grenade/pellet in one of the scenes in
the Music Video. Overall, I think that
the forest in Richmond Park is suitable
for filming because, it is no issues in
accessing the area because it is local to
everyone in the group as well as the
crew.
One limitation as to filming in a forest
is that we will have to be cautious
about birds flying on people, our
equipment and food. Another issue
that we could face is that the grass
could be muddy and slippery so it
might be a bit difficult to filmany
running scenes. In order to overcome
these limitations, we have to make
sure that the food and equipment are
looked after. As for the muddy areas,
we will try and look for another
location which is not as muddy as the
one we encountered before.
2. DRAMA STUDIO
One of the locations that we’re going to
be using for our music video is the
drama studio. I did a recce and took
several pictures to show the location.
The space within the studio is wide, the
colour of the studio is suitable for the
scene that we will be filming and we
will be able to place other equipment’s
inside such as a studio lamp.
The scene that we will be filming inside
the drama studio includes the artist lip
syncing and the drummer drumming its
parts within the music video. This will
give a dramatic effect when it comes to
post production and the ending result
will be pleasing. We like that the drama
studio is dark which gives out the
aesthetic to our video and we are able
to use studio lamps to give out a much
greater effect.
The black curtains are also a benefit
when using the drama studio. It suits
the concept of our music video because
we would like to use a dark, eerie
atmosphere so the drama studio is
essential as one of the locations we will
use.
The room gets very dark and with the
use of the studio lamps, we have to
make sure that we are cautious when
setting up the lamps and we have to
make sure that we give signals
whenever we switch the lamps on and
off. If the room was dark and the lamp
was switched on, it could cause
blindness so we are making sure that
my peers are aware of it.
3. PHOTOGRAPHY
STUDIO
I took several pictures of our second
location which is the photography
studio. The space was not too big and it
was not too small either; just a few
arrangements inside the room and the
space will be fine. The white wall is very
important to what we need to film
which will be explained.
The photography studio is a suitable
room where we will be filming a scene
whereby we use a projection to project
several moving images, which we hope
to achieve. Worst comes to worst, we
will try and find a still image if the
moving image does not work out.
On the other hand, we have chosen to
use the photography room because, it
has most of the resources that we will
need such as a studio lamp, props and
tripods. My group and I would not be
easily disturbed with this chosen
location as it is always free and isolated
from anything that could disturb our
filming.
The room is quite packed, so it is hard
to move around the small spot. To
overcome this limitation, we would
most likely have to arrange and remove
items from the room in order to give us
a wider space for us to film. Overall, this
location is accessible and we were able
to ask for permission from the
photography department with an
approval.
