started our own band using the wind instruments initially for children in 5M.

Mr. Fogg is coming into school to work with the children and teach them new
pieces of music as well as playing some of our favourites from last year. The
‘Wind Band’ sessions will take place each Tuesday from 3.15 pm until 4.15pm.
This is a wonderful opportunity and it would be great to see as many children
in 5M encouraged to come along and join in. The children will be allowed to use the school instruments until half
term when it will be necessary for them to purchase their own. Mrs. Phelps is available for further information.
Year 6 Residential to Pro-Active Adventure in Llangollen
We are planning a residential holiday for children in Year 6 to give them the opportunity to experience a residen-
tial holiday and to celebrate the end of their time here at Norwood. We would like this to take place during the
week of Monday 29th June 2009.
We will be staying at the Ty’n Dwr Outdoor Centre in Llangollen, North Wales, where the children will be involved
in a wide range of outdoor activities led by qualified instructors. This is a fully inclusive package, which includes
accommodation, catering, travel and activities. A meeting will be held in the school hall on Thursday 2nd
October at 7.30pm for further information.
Coats
The weather is getting increasingly cooler and is noticeably wet, and some children do not appear to be bringing
a coat with them. Please ensure that your child brings a suitable coat to school as they may do it during the day
and remember they will need their name in it!
Used Stamps
A collection box is available in the foyer for used postage stamps. We are collecting these in aid of
Guide Dogs for the Blind. All donations are gratefully received.
Attendance
If a child’s overall attendance rate falls below 85%, schools are obliged to inform the Education Welfare Officer.
Therefore, if your child is absent through illness or for any other reason it is important to keep the school
updated with this information and when your child is likely to return to school. Please ensure that you ring the
school office and speak with a member of staff or leave a message on the answer phone on the first day of the
absence. Alternatively, you can email admin.norwood@schools.sefton.gov.uk.
Recycling Ink Cartridges & Mobile Phones
We have a recycling box in school for ink cartridges and old mobile phones. If you have any you
are willing to donate, please send them into the school office in a sealed bag.
The school receives a donation towards school funds for any items we collect.
Safe Cycling
Safe Cycling Courses take place for children in Year 6, on Tuesday 16th, 23rd and 30th September and Tuesday
7th and 14th October. Children taking part will have already received further information.
