                                                On Thursday 23rd June, Mrs Kenrick took twelve Year 6 & twenty four Year 2
       Spring Term: 2012                          children to Edge Hill University. The children had gained sufficient credits

                                            at the end of each respective key stage, to allow them to graduate. The children have

                       Please note there is an increase to school meals from 1st September 2011.
   Costs will be £1.70 per day/£8.50 per week. To help you work out how much to owe use the ready reckoner below.

                                                        1 day = £1.70
                                                        2 days = £3.40
                                                        3 days = £5.10
                                                        4 days = £6.80
                                                       5 Days = £8.50
   If your child is absent for any reason please remember to deduct £1.70 from the following weeks money, as we carry
forward these as credits and you will owe less money. In future we will be ringing parents, whether at home or at work to
                                           ask them to bring late money into school.

Children in the Spotlight




         Oliver & Jakob play for Southport Trinity A U8's Football Team who came 2nd in the Crosby Tournament. Fabulous!
         Sam has gained his red belt, 9th kyu for karate. Terrific!
        Jessica has passed her Level 5 Swimming Certificate. Brilliant!
        Isabelle has passed her 25m Rainbow Swimming award. Marvellous!




                      Caitlan has passed her 50m Rainbow Swimming award. Fantastic!

                     Bethany has passed her 50m Rainbow Swimming award. Wonderful!
                      Tom was awarded 2nd place in Sefton's Sport Personality of the Year. Awesome!

                      Max has passed his Stage 2 National Plan Swimming award. Super!


                                                                          Y3 Spanish Fiestaval


                                                 Year 3 pupils showed off their Spanish skills last week at La Fiestaval - a
                                               festival of languages at Greenbank High School. Pupils from primary schools
     School Council Donation to                    in Southport were invited to perform on stage before an audience of
          Peterhouse School                      parents, teachers and pupils. Our Year 3 pupils wowed the audience with
                                                               Spanish songs, phrases and a little bit of magic!

                                               Our Spanish stars were: Katie Halsall, Isobel Mills, Ben Potter, Rosie Morgan,
                                                  Liam Hefferan, Oliver Starr, Taylor McKenzie and Rebecca Tomlinson.

          Tournament 2011

Once again Norwood & Holy Family Primary
  Schools hosted the annual ABC Netball
Tournament. It was a successful event with
   14 schools participating. Mrs Kenrick
 was delighted to report that the N Netball
                                                     Lucy Cottier, Elise Bond, Emily     Molly Glinn, Abbie Wilson, Laura
      Team were runners up in the C
                                                        Marshall, Caitlin Healy,          Pendlebury, Georgia Lonsdale,
Tournament, whilst the C Netball team were

     runners up in the Central League.

                                                Junior Sports Day

Last week we enjoyed a lovely morning for the Junior Sports. The children had been
    placed in teams and took part in 10 different activities, set around the field.
  Eventually the points were totalled up for each team & the winners were Greece.
      Then the children went over to the track to cheer on the sprint finalists.
 Congratulations to the winners and well done to everyone else for their wonderful
                                      team spirit!
                                    Sprint Winners

                   Year 3 winners were Emily Berry and Alex Day.
                 Year 4 winners were Emily Hagan and Ollie Rimmer.
                Year 5 winners were Libby Spencer and Tom Lawson.
                Year 6 winners were Amie Blundell and Jamie Hough



                                            Infant Sports Day
                                           With each team of infants being led out by a pair of Y6 children, their sports day
                                          started off and finished under beautiful blue skies. Each child was allocated a team
                                              named after an animals and a range of activites were completed during the
                                         afternoon with the highlights being the soft javelin, the over and under relay and the
                                         hurdles. The animal noises sounded all over the field as the children enjoyed taking
                                         part in the activities and trying to achieve their best scores in every event. Well done
                                         to the children, the Y6 for leading their groups and the parents for their enthusiastic
                                                                        and excellent attendance.


                     Lost Property


   Lost property will be available for collection on the
  playground after school during the next week. After
  which anything not collected by 15th of July will be
                        recycled.


 Please ensure all items of uniform are clearly labelled
            with your child’s name and class.

  • 4. Southport Schools Netball N Netball Team C Netball Team Tournament 2011 Once again Norwood & Holy Family Primary Schools hosted the annual ABC Netball Tournament. Mrs Kenrick was delighted to report that the N Netball Lucy Cottier, Elise Bond, Emily Molly Glinn, Abbie Wilson, Laura Team were runners up in the C Marshall, Caitlin Healy, Pendlebury, Georgia Lonsdale, Tournament, whilst the C Netball team were Sophie Wright, Lucy Berry, runners up in the Central League. Junior Sports Day Last week we enjoyed a lovely morning for the Junior Sports. The children had been placed in teams and took part in 10 different activities, set around the field. Eventually the points were totalled up for each team & the winners were Greece. Then the children went over to the track to cheer on the sprint finalists. Congratulations to the winners and well done to everyone else for their wonderful team spirit! Sprint Winners Year 3 winners were Emily Berry and Alex Day. Year 4 winners were Emily Hagan and Ollie Rimmer. Year 5 winners were Libby Spencer and Tom Lawson. Year 6 winners were Amie Blundell and Jamie Hough Infant Sports Day With each team of infants being led out by a pair of Y6 children, their sports day started off and finished under beautiful blue skies. Each child was allocated a team named after an animals and a range of activites were completed during the afternoon with the highlights being the soft javelin, the over and under relay and the hurdles. The animal noises sounded all over the field as the children enjoyed taking part in the activities and trying to achieve their best scores in every event. Well done to the children, the Y6 for leading their groups and the parents for their enthusiastic and excellent attendance. Lost Property Lost property will be available for collection on the playground after school during the next week. After which anything not collected by 15th of July will be recycled.
