•I live in Silverton with my Fabulous 5
children!
•I grew up in Stayton.
•I love teaching! This is my 15th
year at
Eugene Field School!
•In May of 2013, I received my Master’s
Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from
Concordia University. I also have my ESOL and
Reading Endorsements.
•When I’m not with your children…you can
find me playing with my children and cheering
them on from the sidelines at football,
soccer, and ballet classes…and I’ve been
known to frequent COSTCO!
•I am very excited about our year in
Kindergarten!
•Ready, Set….Let’s LEARN!
3.
4. AM Session: 8:00am-10:50am
PM Session: 11:50am-2:30pm
Your child’s day will consist of Reading,
Writing, Math, Snack, and Recess. Art and
Science will be integrated within the
curriculum.
Your child will also have Library and PE for
30 minutes each week.
5. We are a nut-free School!
We are implementing a new snack
procedure. All snacks will be provided for
your children.
Each day your child will have 5-10 minutes to
enjoy their snack and listen to a read aloud.
6. It is district policy that all adults
volunteering in the school & attending field
trips must complete and pass a background
check.
Our volunteer coordinator is Lydia Cain. She
will have the background forms available
tonight in the gym.
We encourage volunteering in our classroom!
If you are unable to volunteer in the
classroom, we always have take-home
projects you can help with!
7. In October we will be going to Bauman Farms
to visit the Pumpkin Patch.
Eugene Field’s policy does not allow younger
siblings to attend Field trips or be present
while volunteering at school.
8. Homework will be sent home on Fridays in
Friday Folders and needs to be returned on
Wednesday of each week.
Friday Folders serve as a line of
communication between home and school.
Please check your child’s folder each Friday
for important news and your child’s work for
the week.
The importance of practicing the skills
taught at school through our Kindergarten
homework is essential in your child’s success.

As you can tell from the video, the rigor of
Kindergarten has changed. With the
partnership between school and home, we
can make this happen.
As a final note, Eugene Field Kindergarten
team wants to assure you, that while the
expectations of Kindergarten have risen, it is
our goal to keep the fun in Kindergarten!
10. Bruner Bear loves to travel!
He will come home with
each of my students this
school year. He chooses a
student on Friday and spends
the weekend getting to know
each family!
There is a journal provided
to record all of the
adventures your family
enjoys with this beloved
bear!
11. The last Friday of every month we will
celebrate birthdays for that month. A parent
volunteer from our class will contact you to
arrange birthday snacks for that day.
12. We will be so excited to greet your child for
their first day of Kindergarten!
We will have Kleenex available and
encourage you to give your child a hug and
allow us to take their hand and lead them
into this exciting new adventure.
We will be getting acquainted with our new
classroom, getting to know our new friends,
learning rules and routines, and making
wonderful memories!
Dismissal routine/Destination change
13. If your child is in AM Kinder, when they
arrive they have the choice to eat breakfast,
which begins @ 7:45am or they need to go to
room 22 for morning activities. At 8:00am
when the bell rings, they will be walked
down to their classroom.
If your child is in PM Kinder and you are
dropping them off, they will go and sit on
the stage & listen to stories. When it is time
for class to begin, they will be walked down
to their classroom by a staff member.
14. Tonight you will receive a handout of all of
the early release dates for this year!
On early release days, only one session of
Kinder will attend & it will alternate. If your
child normally attends PM Kinder, they will
come in the morning on their early release
days. (8-10:50am)
In the afternoon on early release days, all
teachers will be collaborating with other
staff in the district and participating in
Professional Development.
