Christmas Collections
At the end of each our recent Christmas plays and concerts, we held a collection to raise money towards our charity of
the year "Southport Lifeboats" and we are delighted to inform you that we raised £568. Once again this was a superb
gesture and we would like to thank our parents and friends for their wonderful support of this invaluable organisation.
Parents Questionnaires
At our last Parents Evenings in October we had 175 replies to our short questionnaire. We would like to thank everybody
for their time and effort in completing these as this helps us provide a better service to parents and pupils and should help
us to work together even more effectively in supporting the education of Norwood pupils. The main findings were:
1. The Meet the Teacher meetings in September are extremely useful but held at an inconvenient time.
2. The majority of parents felt the end of year reports were very detailed and liked the format. Some suggestions were
offered such as explaining the Foundation Stage Profile scores and a more information about all subjects in the curriculum.
3. Those people who have attended our courses and workshops have found them really enjoyable and beneficial. The most
popular sugestions for future courses were Maths, Art, Behaviour and Family Cooking. Once again the inconvenient time of
these events was identified as an issue.
4. There was alot of support for a more consistent approach across the school with home/school communication books.
5. A large majority of parents found the Parents Evenings very informative, but the main suggestions were about offering
refreshments, being able to look at their children's work and that the meetings were too short.
We intend to address as many of these issues and the suggestions from the recent Time to Talk meeting, as possible before
our next Parents Evening.
Good Punctuality
Can I remind parents and children that the doors open for school at 8.45 am every morning and that the whistle goes at
8.50 am. Please be on the yard for this time as school starts at 8.55 am and the register is taken then. Children arriving
after 8.55 am will receive a 'late' mark in the register. At Norwood we have high expectations of good punctuality as it is an
important skill for children to understand and respect. Please help us to support all children have a calm, relaxed and
undisturbed start to their school day. “Be on time at 5 to 9”
