Ball Bounces High Experiment
Title: Which ball bounces higher experiment.
Aim: The aim of this experiment is to see which ball is better quality for bouncing and what is a lot
more reasonable for price and size.
Introduction: The experiment being tested is worth conducting as it can help people decide which
ball to get if they want a bouncy one, either it is expensive, cheap, big or small. One fact on balls is
that they are different and they bounce differently and are used differently. A netball has thinner
layers than what a basketball does, and a basketball is more used for bouncing that a netball.
Hypothesis: The basketball will bounce the highest as it has thicker layers, a strong grip and is used
for bouncing. A netball has thinner layers and can only be bounced

TIPS FOR JOINING SOCIAL NETBALL LEAGUE
Opting to play any sport tends to be beneficial not only physically but mentally too. Besides getting
the required exercise your brain is put to work. Netball is one game which caters to the mental and
physical factor in an enjoyable manner. Men or women opting for netball have lower risks of
diabetes, obesity and depression. It has also been found that those who play netball tend to fare well
in academics and learn to deal with adversity through injuries and losses. They tend to be more
efficient in solving problems and push themselves beyond limits.

My Personal Strengths and Weaknesses in Netball Essay
From observing myself in a game situation these are what I consider are my strengths and
weaknesses for Netball and why I think each one is a strength or weakness.
Strengths
Weaknesses
> Shooting
> Shoulder Pass
> Bounce Pass
> Chest Pass
> Pivoting
> Footwork
> High–running Pass
> Reaction Time
> Agility
> Speed
Strengths:
Strength 1: Shooting is one of my strengths as I think I perform it correctly. By correctly I mean
having a balanced position (standing with my feet shoulder width apart and keeping my body
straight), holding the ball above my head (so that the ball is resting on the tips of my fingers and my
thumbs form a W shape), bending my knees as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It's a high pass and should enable you to speed up the game. This pass requires lots of power to
make it travel faster; if it's slow and loopy a defender could intercept it. For me the power comes
from behind the ball. I spread my fingers around the ball, bend my arms and try to keep my elbows
close to my body. I then lift the ball above my right shoulder (as I'm right–handed) and let it drop
back slightly. This gives me extra power when I go to release the ball. To make it go through the air
faster I put one foot forward, this also helps me to lean into the pass. I think when you throw a
shoulder pass it's best to aim for your team–mates head and chest (this will make it easier for them
to catch the ball). In my opinion to master a shoulder pass you have to follow the directions above
and finally when you release the ball I think you should follow through the pass (basically stretching
out your arms and fingertips after releasing the ball.
Strength 3: The bounce pass is a strength of mine and I think it's a really good pass to be good at.
You use it for short distances and I've noticed from observing myself that it works well when you
find defenders are closing in on you and you need to act quickly. It's the best short distance pass to
use when players like the Centre and Wing Attack need to pass the ball into the semi–circle to the

Marketing Australia for the Commonwealth Games
As a part of the marketing team for the commonwealth games hosted in Glasgow in 2014, I have
decided to market in Australia. I have chosen Australia, on account of them winning the event 11
times. Personally, I think they will have a larger a fan base due to the fact they are favourites of
winning the event once again. Another reason to why I chose Australia is by virtue of them having a
longstanding relationship with Scotland. In 2011 a census was carried out and 103,204 citizens
where Scottish Australians and 1,792,600 claimed Scottish ancestry (National Records of Scotland,
2011). Statistics listed in the above will make it more inviting for tourist from Australia to come and
watch the Commonwealth games.
PEST Analysis
POLITICAL
The UK Government (Scotland wise) have a strong tie with the Australian Government. VISA
processes will be easier to obtain, even though Australia is not in the EU. There is an Australian
consulate within Edinburgh. Therefore, families can help other family members back in Australia to
attain the UK Visa. In Australia, the Scottish embassy can be located in Sydney, Canberra and Perth.
As part of my marketing plan, handing out brochures and flyers about the commonwealth games in
Scotland inside all the Consulates and Embassies regarding Scotland and Australia will be
incredibly beneficial in receiving more tourists for the event. A contract stating that during the
Commonwealth games VISA's should not be longer than a month, in order to avoid

Netball And Volleyball Has Been Developed Over Many Years
This essay will look at how Netball and Volleyball have been developed over many years and how
athletes prepare themselves to competitively take part in both of these sports. "Netball traces its
roots back to basketball" which was established by James Naismith in 1891 to fulfill the need for a
"high–spirited" game for men. (International netball, n.d.). Female teachers became captivated by
this game and a version for girls was established with rules that were adapted to accommodate for
social needs, such as; women's participation in sport and the clothing women wore during this time.
During the 1890's women's basketball was played on grass courts and women wore woolen gym
frocks, white long sleeved shirts, a tie, woolen leggings and sandshoes (Netball New Zealand,
2014). By the early 1900's the sport began to grow rapidly yet no official rules had been established,
there were two versions; nine–a–side and five–a–side. Concern grew over the lack of official rules
so during the 1960's formal rules were developed and it was decided that every four years a World
Champion tournament would be held. Women's basketball officially changed names to netball in the
1970's due to being rejected for the Olympics as two different sports with the same name could not
compete. In the 1990's netball became recognized as a sport of the Olympic Games and became part
of the Commonwealth Games which demonstrates how far netball has come (International Netball
Federation, 2014).

Developing A Training Program In Netball
The obligation of a coach is to advance an athlete's technical physical and mental abilities. And their
inclusive goal is to triumph in competition. In netball, the coaching method is extremely important,
to provide the team with the ultimate netball ability. Fitness components including strength,
cardiovascular fitness, power and agility are the main focus of a netball coach when developing a
training program for their team. When the training program has been developed, the coach then
evaluates the program to ensure that it is suitable for the individual, or team. In the case of this
training program, there are five different training phases: general preparation, specific preparation,
pre– competitive, general competitive, and transition. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because all five training phases (general preparation, specific preparation, pre–competitive,
general competitive and transition) all focus on the energy systems required for a netball player. In
the macrocylces in the three phases before the competitive phase, they include interval sprint
training, to increase cardiovascular and aerobic fitness levels. They also prepare the body for long
and short intensity sprinting for competition. These three phases also include weight training, to
enhance the body's muscular mass, and prepare the joints, ligament, and muscles for competition.
Through these three phases, the intensity of the sessions increase, to improve the individuals fitness
components. The interval training focuses on specific fitness components such as speed, agility and
aerobic fitness. The weight training enhances the strength and power fitness components of the
individual. During the competitive phase of the training program, the interval training changes to
suit more specific skill training, such as passing, and shooting drill. However, sprinting is still
included. The weight program remains the same, just less intense, so the injury does not occur. The
last phase, is used as a rest phase, to let the individual's body rest before the next pre–season training

Sports As A Team And The Main Objective Of The Game
For rugby however, there are 15players on a team and the main objective of the game is to use the
ball to have more points than the other team. In this sport a player can run, kick and pass with the
ball but they are not allowed to pass the ball forward. It is a contact sport as the players can tackle
the opponent/opposition in order to get the ball. There are three ways to score points in rugby, which
is by a try, a conversion and a goal kick. A try is worth five points, a conversion is worth two points,
and a goal kick is work three points. Therefore, this sport becomes a high scoring game. Rugby is
played on a grass field with lines on it to outline the boundaries. At each end of the fields there are
goal posts at either end with an in goal area, where players can score their points by placing the ball
over this try line. One team defends and the other is trying to score points, the same as netball.
Rugby consists of eight minutes and is split into forty minute half's. At half time there is a ten–
minute break then teams swap ends of the field. These are the basic rules, regulations and objectives
of this sport rugby.
Physical and mental training is required in both sports of Netball and Rugby. Mental attitude and
focus are essential elements in performance of these two sports. For optimal performance, athletes
within these two sports need to learn mental skills to activate and maintain their level of motivation.
Physical training is also an essential part of being

Hurdball Argumentative Essay
Hurdball is a new fitness game, taking the world by storm! The game is a mix between Netball, hula
hooping, hurdles (hence the name!), soccer and basketball. The game is aimed at children aged from
12–19. It can be played on a netball court or a basketball court. Hurdball improves your fitness and
your sense of self. In this article, I will be taking about Hurdball, its fitness components, how it
improves your fitness and sense of self. Hurdball is a game, newly come into the fitness world. The
game is a mix between Netball, hula hooping hurdles, soccer, football and basketball. The game is
started with 2 teams. The team leaders grab a hula hoop each and stand across from each other in the
middle of the court. The leaders have a face–off hula hooping, while their teams watch on. The team

The team leader who won (the hula hooping stand–off), sprints to the 4 hurdles set up on their side
of the court. The team leader jumps over each one and grabs the netball placed on their end of the
court in a hula hoop. Once the team leader has hold of the ball and is in the middle of the hula hoop,
this signifies that the game has begun. From here on it is basically like a netball game with a few
tweaks. Basketball is incorporated into the game, because you can pass the ball by bouncing it on
the floor to your team member, or throwing it to them. Intercepting is allowed, and if the defending
team is successful in getting the ball, they become the attacking team. When the ball is either thrown

down, practicing skills and various fitness activities linked to netball. This training is an example of
Interval training, as I have to develop my fitness in a short time (5 sessions) by working hard and
gaining fitness quickly.
The appropriate fitness aspects for netball that I am anticipated to improve are listed as the

footwear.
* No Jewellery
* No chewing
* Use the right equipment and set it out appropriately and safely
* Train with the right attitude and with motivation
* Make sure that the types and order of activities in my training session are sensible
The plan of my training programme shows the way equipment is set out and used. I have identified
two potential risks on the plan:
* When doing netball chest passes the person in control of the netball may well lose
control resulting in an injury to the surrounding people/the person doing the chest
passes
* The space between the wall and the equipment around the gym is quite small for
the runners to run in they may run into somebody doing their training. This may
result in somebody being severely injured
I will alter the setting out of the circuit to avoid any risks and injuries.
A warm–up should be carried out in order to prepare the body for activity. The warm up should
include:
* A period of gentle exercise using the whole body, for example light jogging. This will gently
increase both heart rate and breathing rate
* We should then do gentle stretches. Stretching mainly those joints that are most likely to be
stressed during the training session.

Fuel Interplay
Fuel Sources, Energy System and Interplay Assignment
1. Fuel Sources
In Anaerobic Glycolysis, carbohydrates, in the form of glucose or glycogen can be broken down to a
molecule called pyruvate and provide energy in the form of ATP via the "fast glycolytic" pathway.
Carbohydrates are broken down so that when the centre is jogging, shuffling or sprinting the 2580m
that she travels in an elite netball game in total (see Figure 3) or when she is in zone three of the
intensity zone (see figure 2). When the centre is predominantly using the aerobic glycolysis system
she is also predominantly using glycogen as her main fuel source. Once all her glycogen stores are
used up she will run out of energy and 'hit the wall' (see Figure 1) when her heartrate ... Show more

However, it has larger a larger fuel supply and doesn't burn out as quick as the ATP–PC system. The
anaerobic glycolysis system is predominant for 10 seconds to 2 minutes and used mostly at sub
maximal levels of intensity (85%–95% of MHR).The centre spends 45% of playing time at zone
three intensity of 85%–95% of MHR (see figure 2). This is the largest amount of time spent in a
zone in the whole game. If the centre remains at a high intensity for more than 10 seconds or short
efforts are repeated between 85–95%MHR, the Anaerobic Glycolysis system becomes dominant as
the ATP–PC system has not had time to recover. The anaerobic glycolysis system would become the
dominant system when the centre is jogging, shuffling or sprinting at a sub maximal level or when
her ATP–PC system needs time to recover. The centre jogs 1024m at an average distance of 7.4m,
shuffles 904m at an average distance of 3.7 m and when the centre sprints for 11+m (see figure 3.
The anaerobic glycolysis system would be prevalent in these situations because they are sub
maximal intensity and are for more than 10

Integrated Natural Science Applications Task 3
How many times will a basketball bounce on different surfaces?
By: Sparklees Sykes
Project Design Plan: In this investigation, I will bounce a basketball from the same height on
different surfaces to see how many times the ball will bounce. I am interested in bouncing
basketballs because I have two young sons that love to bounce basketballs everywhere.
Problem statement: As a mother of two sons that are constantly bouncing a basketball around the
house, I wonder if the basketball is bouncy on different surfaces. If the ball is dropped at the same
height and same way on different types of surfaces, how many times will it bounce?
Literature Review: There are different types of balls and different studies done about their use. For
this experiment, we will focus on a basketball and how many times it will bounce on different kinds
of surfaces.
Science Buddies of Scientific American completed an experiment on high a basketball bounced on
at least two different surfaces. The conductor explained the types of energy, kinetic and potential.
They measure a wall up to forty inches high, typing at every eight inches. In the study, the Science
Buddies concluded that when a ball is dropped at the same height and way that it bounced higher on

The balls used were a rubber bouncy ball, a marble, and a ping–pong ball. The balls were dropped
from the same height at three different height levels and then the bounce of the ball was measured.
They concluded that the rubber bouncy ball bounced the highest because it had the most elasticity.
The balls bounced higher when dropped from higher levels, by changing or increasing the potential
energy (the dropping ball), it changed the kinetic energy (the bounce or ball hitting the floor),
causing the ball to bounce higher. (Bjornsson,

Sport 7 Year Study
Is enough emphasis being placed on injury prevention in sports at a junior level in Australia?
The conclusion of a 7–year study in Victoria in 2010, found that children aged 15 and under were
5.4 times more likely to be hospitalised for sports–related injuries than for road–traffic injuries .
This is cause for major concern amongst the junior sporting population of Australia, with a
significant increase in sports–related hospitalisations nationally each year. Eccentric factors such as
overtraining and early specialisation have been linked to this rise. In the absence of a national
sporting injury prevention body and subsequent national injury prevention policy, associations and
sporting clubs may be ill–equipped to deal with this extensive ... Show more content on

"Excess weight, especially obesity, is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease, Type 2 diabetes,

adults are overweight . Yet up to 545,000 Australians have reported to have a long–term health
condition caused by a sport/exercise–related injury ; inhibiting their ability to maintain a healthy
level of physical activity and combat rising obesity rates. It is thought that more than half of these
injuries are linked to a similar injury occurrence in youth. This proves that injuries at a junior level
have long–term consequences that can affect one's physical health and morality in adulthood. The

Sexualization Of Women In Sport Essay
In the 21st century, despite many years of progress, gender inequity still exists in sports, with male
athletes dominating their female counterparts in aspects such as pay, endorsements, media coverage
and participation. Indeed, of the 100 highest paid athletes in the world in 2015, the top 20 were all
males, and none were from any of the so called 'female' sports [1]. Consequently– in an effort to
lessen this disparity– 'the commercial exploitation of sex, sexual attraction and sexually explicit
materials of female athletes in sport [2],' or sexualisation, has become increasingly commonplace,
with netball now under fire.
Currently boasting more than 20 million followers worldwide–and the title of the most popular
female sport in Australia–netball was established in 1891 by James Naismith as a more feminine
alternative to basketball, and is played by two opposing teams of seven on a rectangular court
consisting of three thirds– the objective of the game, in simple terms, to score as many goals as
possible within the 40 minutes of game time [3]. Since its conception, however, despite its
popularity amongst women, the game has always paled in coverage and funding when compared to
others male sports, like basketball. Concerning this disparity, during this presentation I will evaluate
the potential future sexualisation/sexploitation of netball as a solution, and based on the findings,
will delegate an alternative recommendation for the future.

Netball Is A Ball Sport Played By Two Teams Of Seven Players
Netball is a ball sport played by two teams of seven players. Its development, derived from early
versions of basketball, began in England in the 1890s. By 1960, international playing rules had been
standardised for the game, and the International Federation of Netball and Women 's Basketball
(later renamed the International Netball Federation (INF)) was formed. As of 2011, the INF
comprises more than 60 national teams organized into five global regions.
Games are played on a rectangular court with raised goal rings at each end. Each team attempts to
score goals by passing a ball down the court and shooting it through its goal ring. Players are
assigned specific positions, which define their roles within the team and restrict their movement to
certain areas of the court. During general play, a player with the ball can hold on to it for only three
seconds before shooting for a goal or passing to another player. The winning team is the one that
scores the most goals. Netball games are 60 minutes long. Variations have been developed to
increase the game 's pace and appeal to a wider audience.
Netball is most popular in Commonwealth nations, specifically in schools, and is predominantly
played by women. According to the INF, netball is played by more than 20 million people in more
than 80 countries.[12][13] Major transnational competitions take place, including the Netball

Netball Is A Fast And Exciting Team Sport
Part A – Literature Review Introduction Netball is a fast and exciting team sport, which is extremely
popular within the commonwealth in particular the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand,
with more than 20 million athletes participating in the sport (Ashton & Twist, 2015). The sport is
played on a 30.5m x 15.25m court, which is separated into thirds and the object is to score goals
within a defined area (goal circle), by shotting a ball into a ring attached to a 3.05m high post.
Netball has similar movement patterns to basketball and consists of four 15–minute quarters, with
5–minute rest at halftime and 3–minutes rest between other quarters. A team consists of 7 players on
the court at any one time and each position has different court restrictions and roles within match
play, which ultimately affects the physical demands of each position. It is traditionally seen as a
female sport, however it has been noted that more males are becoming increasingly involved. While
there are strict rules to ensure that the game is played without contact, the most unique aspect of the
game is that players are not permitted to run with the ball and must stop after 1 step and off load ball
within 3 seconds. Muscles Used in Netball Netball is an intermittent sport incorporating quick and
repeated changes in direction and movement. The game demands a high level of physical fitness to
cope with the pace and duration of the game, speed to initiate attacking and defensive strategies,

Basketball : The History And History Of Basketball
We can all agree that basketball is almost becoming popular around the world. So many people play
this sport but do people know how basketball started and how it evolute throughout the years since
basketball was borned? So like every other sports and creations, there has to be a inventor and in
basketball there was a man by the name of Dr. James Naismith. "Created in 1891 in a Springfield,
Massachusetts YMCA gymnasium has grown into a game played worldwide by more than 300
million people"(historybits.com). So this game has been out for a very long period of time with
many changing of the rules in basketball throughout the history. When it was first played in the late
1800s, there were different rules and even different looking basketball. As for the rules, originally
there would be 10 people on the court but it first started with 18 people on the court which after
couple of years it changed to only 10 people. Substitution was also different and the rule for this was
at first no one can enter until the next game. "The rule was changed in 1920 to allow a player to re–
enter the game one time. In 1934, the rule was expanded to allow players to re–enter the game
twice, and, in 1945 the rule was finally changed to permit players to return to the game an unlimited
number of times"(hooptactics.com). The first basketball looked very alike a football but round. The
backboards were made out of straight wood and the baskets were made out of peach baskets or

Netball Test
Introduction
Good Morning/Afternoon Mr/Mrs Flynn, My name is Alex Manley and in this assignment I will be
selecting one of the three Fitness tests provided for an elite Netball player and critically evaluating
the effectiveness of the Octorepeater Test in targeting the energy & fitness demands of a Wing
Defence position. I will also propose recommendations to the test to improve the effectiveness of the
test to Netball. Energy Demands
All three energy systems is important to have in a game of netball. Muscles are also need for all
three energy systems in a game of netball. Muscles require energy to work, and all energy is
provided by a chemical in our cells called Adesonine Triphosphate (ATP). ATP is only stored to last
for a couple of seconds. There are three energy systems which make up of anaerobic and aerobic
parts in our body. The anaerobic system is split into 2 energy systems Creatine Phosphate (CP) and
Lactic Acid (LA) System. These two systems do not need oxygen as ana means no and aerobic
meaning air. The ATP–PC (Alactacid) energy system is the predominant 'engine ' used by athletes
competing in short duration, high intensity 'power events (Macmilian et el. 2010 pg.109). If we
suddenly begin sprinting, the ATP has to resynthesise very quickly. The quickest way is a chemical
reaction that uses creatine phosphate (CP) which is found in the muscle cell. There is only enough
CP to resynthesise ATP for about 10 seconds. It takes several minutes of rest or low

Effect Of Air Pressure In Basketball
ABSTRACT
The air pressure inside a basketball has the biggest affect on bounce. The purpose of conducting this
experiment is to determine if a basketball with a greater air pressure (psi) inside the basketball will
bounce higher. The hypothesis for this experiment is 'If air pressure is decreased inside the
basketball, then the bounce height will decrease as well'. I have participated in numerous inflatable
ball sport activities and from personal experience this has enabled me to make an opinion on the
results of the experiment, which is expressed in the hypothesis. A video camera was set up on a
tripod, this was the main means of collecting the information by recording the bounce of the
basketball after being released from a height of 2.7 meters in front of a measuring stick. The
experiment was commenced with the basketball inflated to 12 psi and then the psi was decreased by
one unit until the basket ball was measuring zero psi. It was essential that at each level of psi the
basketball was dropped three times to gather an average resulting in more reliable data. When
conducting this experiment the findings revealed the hypothesis was proven correct. When the
basketball had the greatest amount of psi (12) it bounced the highest with a average height of
186.7cm. When the basketball had the least amount of psi (zero) it bounced the lowest height of
16.7cm. The results of this experiment provide valuable information to basketball players as it
identifies that having the right

How To Perfect The Technique Of Shooting In Netball
As a Goal–Shooter (GS) or Goal–Attack (GA), the most important thing is to perfect the technique
of shooting in order to score points and win the game. Perfecting the technique of shooting in netball
is a lengthy workout, as it can be defined as a complex skill, which means it requires more control
and coordination and it is specifically designed for the sport, netball. When practicing the technique
as a beginner, the athlete needs to stand considerably close to the poll to make it a little easier. The
athlete needs to stand with their feet hip–width apart in order to refrain from losing their balance and
to make movement easier. The shooter's body should be facing anteriorly to the poll and with a
straight back. The athlete must position

Summary Of Portia Vann's Gratification Theory
The author Portia Vann (2014) talks about how social media lacks in coverage and attention by the
mainstream media in Australia? And what they can do as a community to improve the showing of
professional women's sports? Vann (2014) is studying how social media is so involved in everything
in today's world, but lacked in broadcasting women's sports back in 2011 through 2013. So in the
article Vann (2014) used the ANZ netball Championship that is held in Australia as an example
(netball is similar just like basketball and primarily played by women). The communication theory
that Vann (2014) uses is Gratification theory, because he is trying to seek why people do not follow
all women's sports in Australia. And also what makes men sports better than women's. ... Show more

He noticed that people were posting comments of the game more when men played netball than
some women. Someone told Vann (2014) that man sports are a lot more interesting than women
because they show power toughness and the game is played faster than women. Vann (2014) talks
about how the fans and the social media link together and he say "communitive bridge that links
crowds and the sport they follow". He does interviews with fans in person to see why social media is
a great impacted on sports. And also why women sports are not as important has men sports. Vann
(2014) found that the convergences in the media has led to the rise of other "transmedia sports and
experience". He talks about how transmedia plays a significant role in how fans will understand,
react, or even participate in live sports broadcasting. Vann (2014) mentions how social media
provides a live experience and social atmosphere for fans so they can discuss sports online and also
play games. For example, people stream football games online and a lot of fans play fantasy football

Netball, a Special Sport in the Heart of Australians
Netball is a very profound sport in today's society. It is a game of an exciting true team sport and has
special place in the heart of many Australians. Many young children and adults learn to play netball
through a local Netball organisation or have seen the Australian firebirds team in action. Everyone
loves a great competition and team which they rally for. Playing Netball and working together is
considered "Aussie spirit" it brings friends and family together and allows us to enjoy the great gifts
of one of Australia's most popular sports. (Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2009)
Netball first originated in England in 1895, the sport became so popular it spreads quickly all around
the world in particular to Australia; New Zealand. (Government of western Australia department of
sport and recreation,2009) It had become such an exhilarating sport in Australia that it had its first
competition game in the commonwealth games. (Reid, 2013) Ever since then it makes Netball
different from other popular Australian sports such as Rugby and Soccer because netball is now
played by both men and women all around the world. Mixed teams are becoming acceptable,
because the basics of the game allow men and women to compete with each other on fair terms.
(International Netball, 2012) The limits set by netball rules on defence prevent men from gaining an
advantage, in spite of their superior strength and size. It is also a friendlier way of making
friendships and working on team skills

Netball first started in 1895 by James Naismith. It is different from how it is done now because they
would wear long dresses and gloves, they also had a broom with a plastic bag tied on as a hoop.
Women's indoor basketball began exactly two days later when female teachers to the gym were
captivated by the game but it wasn't until 1895 that the current game of netball was well and truly

Netball Advertument Essay
As the director of a Netball Advertisement creating a television advertisement that was specifically
for the CMS Crows Netball Club. My idea was to create an advertisement, which included players
represented from the whole netball association, but that was difficult with the time schedule. My aim
for this was to engage large audiences ranging from children to adults who play netball. Editing my
advertisement I used iMovie. Using tutorials from YouTube to help me with "funky" edits in. These
edits were slow motion that started off the video, also using auto–balance to make the colours stand
out within the video. A challenge faced with this task was getting permission from Wallaroo Netball
Club to film the A grade. This was a challenge due ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I chose these shots to engage the audience from the start. I then used a range of mid shots of the
game throughout the remainder of the video. Each shot went for 5–10 seconds. The reason for this
was to match the tempo of the music with the shot that was on the screen. The music is used had an
upbeat tempo with lyrics and instrumental. This went with the theme of netball. I also liked the
lyrics "give me more. more more." It suited netball really well and also the game that was being
played, and it also demonstrated to the audience that netball is passionate, action packed and
exciting game that will leave the players wanting more. When editing the music with the footage it
flowed well and made the video more captivating for the audience. The target audience for my
advertisement is local sporting people and particularly people who may be thinking about joining
the CMS Crows Netball Club. This means that my advertisement would be viewed from young
children through to adults. Netball is predominantly a female sport, so this advertisement would
target audience more than males. The CMS Crowette is a branded logo and appears on all official
merchandise for the club and is therefore recongised by many people in the Yorke Peninsula

Nature Vs Nurture Criminology
Nature vs. Nurture is a well–known debate across a wide range of subjects, but can mostly be
applied to Criminology and Psychology. There is a belief that criminal behaviour is either pre–
determined through genes or socialisation and upbringing. Through studying Criminology, I hope to
view crime in its broadest form, analysing all social aspects which is thought to cause delinquent
behaviour.
From a young age, I have always wanted to contribute to prevent crime. How crime is portrayed
today and society's response and course of prevention has enticed me to study Criminology and
attempt to better society in any way possible. I hope to use my education to support police
investigations through criminal profiling and forensic psychology.

and John Bowlby's '44 Juvenile Thieves' (1944). I evaluated each case study on factors including
reliability, ethics and relevance, to write my interpretation on which approach explains how
behaviour is created best.
Within school, I have been a Mentor to younger students, offering advice, encouragement and

interested and how to increase their chances of having a good time. The activities I have chosen to
do with my group is a warm up activity called Tag. I will need to split the big group into two smaller
groups. There is a square boundary and one team has to try and get away from the other team. The
team that has the ball has to try and tag the other team using the ball and keeping it in their hands
without throwing it and without stepping. If one person from the other team is tagged then their
team has to tag the other team. In Activity one I have children doing a game called Cross Ball. To
start it children stand in a zigzag pattern, another child stands at one end of the line, the person at the
end has the ball. The child has to go to the middle of the pattern and try to stop the ball from getting
to the other end. Children in the zigzag pattern have to pass the ball to each other without it being

History And The Origin Of The Sport
Highlight the sport that you have chosen (1)
The sport that I am currently playing and am researching for my assignment is netball.
Research the history and the origin of the sport (5)
The game of netball originated back in 1891 in Springfield, Massachusetts, when a 30–year old
Canadian immigrant named Dr James Naismith, was asked to invent a female game of basketball
after inventing the male version of basketball and having success in the male version of the sport.
When the female version of basketball was first introduced, women used broomsticks for goal posts
and http://netball.com.au/wp–content/uploads/2013/09/1_11181l.jpg brown paper paper bags for
nets, playing the game on grassed areas. The rules and game of netball evolved when the women
playing the female version of basketball found that their long skirts, pulled in waists and button up
shoes made running difficult and their long shirts restricted the movement in their arms making
dribbling and their limited amount of strength made long passes challenging. They later adapted the
sports of basketball to accommodate to these restrictions, resulting in the birth of the game of
netball.
Provide a detailed description of how the sport is played (4)
Netball is a game that is played on a court that is 30.5 meters wide and 15.25 meters in length, with
a centre circle (in the centre of the court) and two semi circles called the goal circles. There are 7

We need to practice to perform difficult skills with out any trouble. When we have good skills, it
shows in a positive way in our performance. In Netball good footwork is essential, and quick
reaction, as the maximum time you are allowed possession of the ball is three seconds. We need to
know our ability and how far we can go. A skilful player will have confidence, which can help to
avoid injury. Apart from shooting, the primary skills of netball are throwing and catching. There are
3 different passes that are most commonly made in netball, The Chest pass, The shoulder pass and
The bounce pass, these are all used constantly in a game off netball. A player may step with the
other foot in any direction any number if times, pivoting on the landing foot. The pivoting foot may
be lifted, but the player must throw or should before regrounding their foot. If this rule is broken the
player must then be penalised, the ball is given to the opponent for a 'free pass', because a 'foot fault'
has taken place.

Trainers should be worn, if the sole is wider than the ankle it will give your ankles more support and
balance. They must be made of lightweight material. Spiked soles are not allowed in netball.

Netball Research Paper
Netball:
At the elite level, netball is a skilled and fast–paced game. It requires the use of the anaerobic
systems that are assisted by the aerobic system during recovery aster short bursts of play (AIS
Sports Nutrition, 2013). The game consists of seven players on court at any one time, that are
limited to a particular court space, depending on their position. The game consists of four, fifteen–
minute quarters with three–minute breaks between the first and second quarter, then again between
the third and four quarters. A five–minute break occurs at half time.
Nature of the Activity:
Netball is predominately a running sport, with multiple short, explosive sprints incorporated to lose
the defending player and receive the ball from the attacking teammates. However, this solely
depends in the position of the player. As players are limited to particular areas of the court, the
activities and the intensity at which they are performed differ.

This concept is otherwise known as interplay, where one energy system is dominant to the other
systems depending on the intensity and duration of the activity. When considering netball, athletes
may engage in short duration of high intensity efforts in which the ATP–CP system would be the
dominant energy system due to fast rate of ATP production as well as the short period of movement.
However, for repeated high intensity runs and jumps throughout a quarter of netball, in which in
movement lasts longer than 10 seconds, the anaerobic glycolysis pathway energy system would be
considered the dominant system. Conversely, for periods of low intensity such as periods between
points or whilst the ball is away from the player the aerobic energy system would be dominant and

Ball Bounces High Experiment

  • 1. Ball Bounces High Experiment Title: Which ball bounces higher experiment. Aim: The aim of this experiment is to see which ball is better quality for bouncing and what is a lot more reasonable for price and size. Introduction: The experiment being tested is worth conducting as it can help people decide which ball to get if they want a bouncy one, either it is expensive, cheap, big or small. One fact on balls is that they are different and they bounce differently and are used differently. A netball has thinner layers than what a basketball does, and a basketball is more used for bouncing that a netball. Hypothesis: The basketball will bounce the highest as it has thicker layers, a strong grip and is used for bouncing. A netball has thinner layers and can only be bounced ... • 5. My Personal Strengths and Weaknesses in Netball Essay From observing myself in a game situation these are what I consider are my strengths and weaknesses for Netball and why I think each one is a strength or weakness. Strengths Weaknesses > Shooting > Shoulder Pass > Bounce Pass > Chest Pass > Pivoting > Footwork > High–running Pass > Reaction Time > Agility > Speed Strengths: Strength 1: Shooting is one of my strengths as I think I perform it correctly. By correctly I mean having a balanced position (standing with my feet shoulder width apart and keeping my body straight), holding the ball above my head (so that the ball is resting on the tips of my fingers and my thumbs form a W shape), bending my knees as ... I then lift the ball above my right shoulder (as I'm right–handed) and let it drop back slightly. This gives me extra power when I go to release the ball. To make it go through the air faster I put one foot forward, this also helps me to lean into the pass. I think when you throw a shoulder pass it's best to aim for your team–mates head and chest (this will make it easier for them to catch the ball). In my opinion to master a shoulder pass you have to follow the directions above and finally when you release the ball I think you should follow through the pass (basically stretching out your arms and fingertips after releasing the ball. Strength 3: The bounce pass is a strength of mine and I think it's a really good pass to be good at. You use it for short distances and I've noticed from observing myself that it works well when you find defenders are closing in on you and you need to act quickly. It's the best short distance pass to use when players like the Centre and Wing Attack need to pass the ball into the semi–circle to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Marketing Australia for the Commonwealth Games As a part of the marketing team for the commonwealth games hosted in Glasgow in 2014, I have decided to market in Australia. I have chosen Australia, on account of them winning the event 11 times. Personally, I think they will have a larger a fan base due to the fact they are favourites of winning the event once again. Another reason to why I chose Australia is by virtue of them having a longstanding relationship with Scotland. In 2011 a census was carried out and 103,204 citizens where Scottish Australians and 1,792,600 claimed Scottish ancestry (National Records of Scotland, 2011). Statistics listed in the above will make it more inviting for tourist from Australia to come and watch the Commonwealth games. PEST Analysis POLITICAL The UK Government (Scotland wise) have a strong tie with the Australian Government. VISA processes will be easier to obtain, even though Australia is not in the EU. There is an Australian consulate within Edinburgh. Therefore, families can help other family members back in Australia to attain the UK Visa. In Australia, the Scottish embassy can be located in Sydney, Canberra and Perth. As part of my marketing plan, handing out brochures and flyers about the commonwealth games in Scotland inside all the Consulates and Embassies regarding Scotland and Australia will be incredibly beneficial in receiving more tourists for the event. A contract stating that during the Commonwealth games VISA's should not be longer than a month, in order to avoid ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Netball And Volleyball Has Been Developed Over Many Years This essay will look at how Netball and Volleyball have been developed over many years and how athletes prepare themselves to competitively take part in both of these sports. "Netball traces its roots back to basketball" which was established by James Naismith in 1891 to fulfill the need for a "high–spirited" game for men. (International netball, n.d.). Female teachers became captivated by this game and a version for girls was established with rules that were adapted to accommodate for social needs, such as; women's participation in sport and the clothing women wore during this time. During the 1890's women's basketball was played on grass courts and women wore woolen gym frocks, white long sleeved shirts, a tie, woolen leggings and sandshoes (Netball New Zealand, 2014). By the early 1900's the sport began to grow rapidly yet no official rules had been established, there were two versions; nine–a–side and five–a–side. Concern grew over the lack of official rules so during the 1960's formal rules were developed and it was decided that every four years a World Champion tournament would be held. Women's basketball officially changed names to netball in the 1970's due to being rejected for the Olympics as two different sports with the same name could not compete. In the 1990's netball became recognized as a sport of the Olympic Games and became part of the Commonwealth Games which demonstrates how far netball has come (International Netball Federation, 2014). Fitness components including strength, cardiovascular fitness, power and agility are the main focus of a netball coach when developing a training program for their team. This is because all five training phases (general preparation, specific preparation, pre–competitive, general competitive and transition) all focus on the energy systems required for a netball player. In the macrocylces in the three phases before the competitive phase, they include interval sprint training, to increase cardiovascular and aerobic fitness levels. They also prepare the body for long and short intensity sprinting for competition. These three phases also include weight training, to enhance the body's muscular mass, and prepare the joints, ligament, and muscles for competition. Through these three phases, the intensity of the sessions increase, to improve the individuals fitness components. The interval training focuses on specific fitness components such as speed, agility and aerobic fitness. The weight training enhances the strength and power fitness components of the individual. During the competitive phase of the training program, the interval training changes to suit more specific skill training, such as passing, and shooting drill. However, sprinting is still included. The weight program remains the same, just less intense, so the injury does not occur. Sports As A Team And The Main Objective Of The Game For rugby however, there are 15players on a team and the main objective of the game is to use the ball to have more points than the other team. In this sport a player can run, kick and pass with the ball but they are not allowed to pass the ball forward. It is a contact sport as the players can tackle the opponent/opposition in order to get the ball. There are three ways to score points in rugby, which is by a try, a conversion and a goal kick. Carbohydrates are broken down so that when the centre is jogging, shuffling or sprinting the 2580m that she travels in an elite netball game in total (see Figure 3) or when she is in zone three of the intensity zone (see figure 2). This is the largest amount of time spent in a zone in the whole game. If the centre remains at a high intensity for more than 10 seconds or short efforts are repeated between 85–95%MHR, the Anaerobic Glycolysis system becomes dominant as the ATP–PC system has not had time to recover. The anaerobic glycolysis system would become the dominant system when the centre is jogging, shuffling or sprinting at a sub maximal level or when her ATP–PC system needs time to recover. The centre jogs 1024m at an average distance of 7.4m, shuffles 904m at an average distance of 3.7 m and when the centre sprints for 11+m (see figure 3. By: Sparklees Sykes Project Design Plan: In this investigation, I will bounce a basketball from the same height on different surfaces to see how many times the ball will bounce. I am interested in bouncing basketballs because I have two young sons that love to bounce basketballs everywhere. Problem statement: As a mother of two sons that are constantly bouncing a basketball around the house, I wonder if the basketball is bouncy on different surfaces. If the ball is dropped at the same height and same way on different types of surfaces, how many times will it bounce? Literature Review: There are different types of balls and different studies done about their use. For this experiment, we will focus on a basketball and how many times it will bounce on different kinds of surfaces. Science Buddies of Scientific American completed an experiment on high a basketball bounced on at least two different surfaces. The conductor explained the types of energy, kinetic and potential. They measure a wall up to forty inches high, typing at every eight inches. In the study, the Science Buddies concluded that when a ball is dropped at the same height and way that it bounced higher on a harder surface than a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The balls used were a rubber bouncy ball, a marble, and a ping–pong ball. The balls were dropped from the same height at three different height levels and then the bounce of the ball was measured. They concluded that the rubber bouncy ball bounced the highest because it had the most elasticity. The balls bounced higher when dropped from higher levels, by changing or increasing the potential energy (the dropping ball), it changed the kinetic energy (the bounce or ball hitting the floor), causing the ball to bounce higher. The conclusion of a 7–year study in Victoria in 2010, found that children aged 15 and under were 5.4 times more likely to be hospitalised for sports–related injuries than for road–traffic injuries . This is cause for major concern amongst the junior sporting population of Australia, with a significant increase in sports–related hospitalisations nationally each year. Eccentric factors such as overtraining and early specialisation have been linked to this rise. In the absence of a national sporting injury prevention body and subsequent national injury prevention policy, associations and sporting clubs may be ill–equipped to deal with this extensive ... It is thought that more than half of these injuries are linked to a similar injury occurrence in youth. This proves that injuries at a junior level have long–term consequences that can affect one's physical health and morality in adulthood. The ASC and Department of Health are both reshaping their current physical activity programs to focus on participation at all ages. • 29. Sexualization Of Women In Sport Essay In the 21st century, despite many years of progress, gender inequity still exists in sports, with male athletes dominating their female counterparts in aspects such as pay, endorsements, media coverage and participation. Indeed, of the 100 highest paid athletes in the world in 2015, the top 20 were all males, and none were from any of the so called 'female' sports [1]. Consequently– in an effort to lessen this disparity– 'the commercial exploitation of sex, sexual attraction and sexually explicit materials of female athletes in sport [2],' or sexualisation, has become increasingly commonplace, with netball now under fire. Currently boasting more than 20 million followers worldwide–and the title of the most popular female sport in Australia–netball was established in 1891 by James Naismith as a more feminine alternative to basketball, and is played by two opposing teams of seven on a rectangular court consisting of three thirds– the objective of the game, in simple terms, to score as many goals as possible within the 40 minutes of game time [3]. Since its conception, however, despite its popularity amongst women, the game has always paled in coverage and funding when compared to others male sports, like basketball. Concerning this disparity, during this presentation I will evaluate the potential future sexualisation/sexploitation of netball as a solution, and based on the findings, will delegate an alternative recommendation for the future. • 31. Netball Is A Ball Sport Played By Two Teams Of Seven Players Netball is a ball sport played by two teams of seven players. Its development, derived from early versions of basketball, began in England in the 1890s. By 1960, international playing rules had been standardised for the game, and the International Federation of Netball and Women 's Basketball (later renamed the International Netball Federation (INF)) was formed. As of 2011, the INF comprises more than 60 national teams organized into five global regions. Games are played on a rectangular court with raised goal rings at each end. Each team attempts to score goals by passing a ball down the court and shooting it through its goal ring. Players are assigned specific positions, which define their roles within the team and restrict their movement to certain areas of the court. During general play, a player with the ball can hold on to it for only three seconds before shooting for a goal or passing to another player. The winning team is the one that scores the most goals. Netball games are 60 minutes long. Variations have been developed to increase the game 's pace and appeal to a wider audience. Netball is most popular in Commonwealth nations, specifically in schools, and is predominantly played by women. According to the INF, netball is played by more than 20 million people in more than 80 countries.[12][13] Major transnational competitions take place, including the Netball Superleague in Great Britain and the ANZ Championship in Australia and New Zealand. • 33. Netball Is A Fast And Exciting Team Sport Part A – Literature Review Introduction Netball is a fast and exciting team sport, which is extremely popular within the commonwealth in particular the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand, with more than 20 million athletes participating in the sport (Ashton & Twist, 2015). The sport is played on a 30.5m x 15.25m court, which is separated into thirds and the object is to score goals within a defined area (goal circle), by shotting a ball into a ring attached to a 3.05m high post. Netball has similar movement patterns to basketball and consists of four 15–minute quarters, with 5–minute rest at halftime and 3–minutes rest between other quarters. A team consists of 7 players on the court at any one time and each position has different court restrictions and roles within match play, which ultimately affects the physical demands of each position. It is traditionally seen as a female sport, however it has been noted that more males are becoming increasingly involved. While there are strict rules to ensure that the game is played without contact, the most unique aspect of the game is that players are not permitted to run with the ball and must stop after 1 step and off load ball within 3 seconds. Muscles Used in Netball Netball is an intermittent sport incorporating quick and repeated changes in direction and movement. The game demands a high level of physical fitness to cope with the pace and duration of the game, speed to initiate attacking and defensive strategies, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

So many people play this sport but do people know how basketball started and how it evolute throughout the years since basketball was borned? So like every other sports and creations, there has to be a inventor and in basketball there was a man by the name of Dr. James Naismith. "Created in 1891 in a Springfield, Massachusetts YMCA gymnasium has grown into a game played worldwide by more than 300 million people"(historybits.com). So this game has been out for a very long period of time with many changing of the rules in basketball throughout the history. When it was first played in the late 1800s, there were different rules and even different looking basketball. As for the rules, originally there would be 10 people on the court but it first started with 18 people on the court which after couple of years it changed to only 10 people. Substitution was also different and the rule for this was at first no one can enter until the next game. "The rule was changed in 1920 to allow a player to re– enter the game one time. In 1934, the rule was expanded to allow players to re–enter the game twice, and, in 1945 the rule was finally changed to permit players to return to the game an unlimited number of times"(hooptactics.com). Netball Test Introduction Good Morning/Afternoon Mr/Mrs Flynn, My name is Alex Manley and in this assignment I will be selecting one of the three Fitness tests provided for an elite Netball player and critically evaluating the effectiveness of the Octorepeater Test in targeting the energy & fitness demands of a Wing Defence position. I will also propose recommendations to the test to improve the effectiveness of the test to Netball. Energy Demands All three energy systems is important to have in a game of netball. Muscles are also need for all three energy systems in a game of netball. Muscles require energy to work, and all energy is provided by a chemical in our cells called Adesonine Triphosphate (ATP). ATP is only stored to last for a couple of seconds. There are three energy systems which make up of anaerobic and aerobic parts in our body. The anaerobic system is split into 2 energy systems Creatine Phosphate (CP) and Lactic Acid (LA) System. These two systems do not need oxygen as ana means no and aerobic meaning air. The ATP–PC (Alactacid) energy system is the predominant 'engine ' used by athletes competing in short duration, high intensity 'power events (Macmilian et el. 2010 pg.109). If we suddenly begin sprinting, the ATP has to resynthesise very quickly. The quickest way is a chemical reaction that uses creatine phosphate (CP) which is found in the muscle cell. There is only enough CP to resynthesise ATP for about 10 seconds. It takes several minutes of rest or low ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. Effect Of Air Pressure In Basketball ABSTRACT The air pressure inside a basketball has the biggest affect on bounce. The purpose of conducting this experiment is to determine if a basketball with a greater air pressure (psi) inside the basketball will bounce higher. The hypothesis for this experiment is 'If air pressure is decreased inside the basketball, then the bounce height will decrease as well'. I have participated in numerous inflatable ball sport activities and from personal experience this has enabled me to make an opinion on the results of the experiment, which is expressed in the hypothesis. A video camera was set up on a tripod, this was the main means of collecting the information by recording the bounce of the basketball after being released from a height of 2.7 meters in front of a measuring stick. The experiment was commenced with the basketball inflated to 12 psi and then the psi was decreased by one unit until the basket ball was measuring zero psi. It was essential that at each level of psi the basketball was dropped three times to gather an average resulting in more reliable data. When conducting this experiment the findings revealed the hypothesis was proven correct. When the basketball had the greatest amount of psi (12) it bounced the highest with a average height of 186.7cm. When the basketball had the least amount of psi (zero) it bounced the lowest height of 16.7cm. The results of this experiment provide valuable information to basketball players as it identifies that having the right ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Conversely, for periods of low intensity such as periods between points or whilst the ball is away from the player the aerobic energy system would be dominant and is an essential part of removal of lactic acid in the muscle and repairing the creatine phosphate ...
