2. One of the conventions of a magazine that is used within my magazine is the house
style. Almost every magazine has there own house style which makes them stick in
peoples brains and can be easily identified once the magazine has become popular with
their audience.
My house style consist of four
main colours which are
continued throughout. Blue
purple yellow and pink. I chose
these colours because they are
bright and are the colours
which will stand out to my
target audience who are young
girls. It is important to have a
house style so that your
magazine is recognisable and
so that the buyer doesn't have
to concentrate to much to see
what magazine it is.
3. These are also two big conventions that again nearly all magazines use. The cell line is a
way of grabbing the buyers attention and for my target audience usually includes free
items or free posters. It lets the buyer just glance at the magazine and will catch their
eye to what the free item is.
The skyline is a line at the top of the magazine that can either include some of the
stories in the magazine or the magazines slogan. Here I have come up with a slogan
which also tells you what the magazine is about. ‘Bringing you the hottest stories from
the world of pop’. Just by reading this the reader knows that the magazine is about
gossip and mostly about pop stars.
4. The image that I have used is a medium long
shot and takes up most of the front cover.
The way he is dressed is also stereotypical of the
genre of the magazine. This is a typical
convention of pop magazines as they usually use
a pop artist who will appeal to the target
audience and who the target audience look up
to as a role model. However as most magazines
usually have the artist smiling and looking at the
camera i decided to have him looking at an angle
instead of into the camera as this made it look
just a bit more sophisticated instead of the
typical “cheesy” smile.
5. My masthead font is big bubble writing and
bold which makes it stand out. This is
conventional as pop magazine usually have a
stand out mast head which isn't too formal .
Again the fonts that are used
throughout my magazine aren't formal
and are quite girly fonts which is who
my magazine is aimed at.
The colours I have used for my fonts
are also girly colours and also are the
colours of my house style.
