All questions must be completed thoroughly to receive approval for your Senior Project. Some
projects will be submitted to a committee for final approval. This form must be completed and
returned to your senior English teacher by Friday, August 17, 2012. You will not be allowed to
change your topic after October 12, 2012.
The Senior Project is subject to the plagiarism policies set forth by the district and Creekview High
School.
1) Describe the overall topic of your Senior Project.
To create a documentary film based on my book that I previously wrote and published.
2) What is your previous experience in this area of study?
I have experience in making many short films for YouTube. I have also taken video
production classes in the past.
3) To what career will you connect this project (required)?
I will connect this project to the film producing/film directing/film editing career
4) Describe what you are proposing to do for your Product step-by-step and in detail. Write on the
back of this sheet if necessary.
First I will re-read my book, âOn Moving Moving Onâ and I will take notes and write a rough
draft of the movie script. I will work with my facilitator to then make adjustments to my script. I will
write a schedule after my facilitator and I plan out the dates and locations of where our team we will
be shooting the movie scenes. In these preparation stages of the project I will organize friends, family
members and supporting actors/actresses to act in certain scenes of the movie. Once the actors are
chosen, the days are planned, and the film equipment is all organized, my facilitator and I will begin
shooting the movie. We will most likely be driving up to Massachusetts to shoot some scenes since
that is the main setting of the story. I plan on taking this trip during our November break. After the
scenes are all shot, I will begin the editorial phase of my project. This is where my facilitator and I will
be piecing together and making adjustments to what will ultimately be the finished film. I will be
showing this finished movie at a âfilm festivalâ. The film festival will be sometime in late February.
5) How is this project a âlearning stretchâ and a challenge for you?
This project is a learning stretch and a challenge for me since I have never had any
professional experience with a small movie crew. Being the director, producer, editor, and actor in
this film is a huge responsibility that takes a lot of leadership, dedication, and time management.
6) What are your estimated costs for completing the Product, and how will you fund these costs?
2. A high quality camera can range from hundreds to thousands of dollars. I will most likely be
renting a camera from The Georgia Film Commission Sourcebook. Camera gear and the price to hire out
professional film shooting services can vary depending on how many days it takes to complete the
scenes. The estimated cost will be around $1,000. This is a high cost, but I will be working on a strict
budget and will be funding this through the money I earned working this past summer.
7) Who have you chosen (or are considering choosing) as your Project Facilitator?
I am considering choosing an experienced film editor/producer from The Georgia Film
Commission.
8) What is this personâs expertise in this field?
My hopes are to find somebody with a history of making many short films. This person has to
be close to home and must have experience in high-tech editing programs to help teach me how to
edit my film.
