1. Creekview Senior Project Proposal Form 2012-13
All questions must be completed thoroughly to receive approval for your Senior Project.
Some projects will be submitted to a committee for final approval. This form must be
completed and returned to your senior English teacher by Friday, August 17, 2012. You
will not be allowed to change your topic after October 12, 2012.
The Senior Project is subject to the plagiarism policies set forth by the district and
Creekview High School.
1) Describe the overall topic of your Senior Project.
I am going to write my church’s Christmas play for the youth group. I will also co-direct the
play and help pick the music.
2) What is your previous experience in this area of study?
I have been involved with drama at Creekview High School. I have also been in the youth
musicals at my church every year since 6th grade. I also like to write in my spare time. I came in
2nd place in the Georgia Beta Club Conventions Creative Writing Contest.
3) To what career will you connect this project (required)?
I really hope to go into screenplay writing or teleplay writing. Otherwise, I would like to go into
editing novels at a publishing company. Either way, I wish to stay within the English field.
4) Describe what you are proposing to do for your Product step-by-step and in detail. Write on
the back of this sheet if necessary.
- meet with the members of my church’s drama team and discuss ideas and themes for this year’s
play
- write a script based around their ideas and around the music chosen
- edit the script with the help of my facilitator
- provide acting tips during the weeks that the kids don’t have the script
- cast the play
- rehearse the play and work with Chris in directing
- perform the play around the first or second weekend in December
5) How is this project a “learning stretch” and a challenge for you?
I have never had so much responsibility placed on my shoulders. I will have to learn to
balance my time between 4 AP classes and writing this play within a certain amount of time.
Not to mention, I will have to lead others in directing this play, and improve my writing. I am
really hoping for critique on my writing skills from my facilitator so that I can improve. I will
also have to learn to stick with a piece of writing until it is through. In the past, I have had
trouble finishing any writing I start.
2. 6) What are your estimated costs for completing the Product, and how will you fund these costs?
Hopefully zero. The only costs I would foresee in spending would be on props and paper.
7) Who have you chosen (or are considering choosing) as your Project Facilitator?
Chris Campbell
8) What is this person’s expertise in this field?
He has written plays for our church for both adult Christmas plays and for a youth Christmas
play. He has also been the drama leader for the youth for over a year.
