All questions must be completed thoroughly to receive approval for your Senior Project.Some
projects will be submitted to a committee for final approval. This form must be completed and
returned to your senior English teacher by Friday, August 17, 2012. You will not be allowed to
change your topic after October 12, 2012.
The Senior Project is subject to the plagiarism policies set forth by the district and Creekview High
School.
1) Describe the overall topic of your Senior Project.
I will train with the Cherokee County Fire Department and designa course of my own using
the concepts that I have learned and then run create and go through this obstacle course, which will
be designed to simulate a fire rescue.
2) What is your previous experience in this area of study?
I have trained and competed with the Cherokee County Fire Department for several years,
and I am also familiar with various areas of first aid and survival due to several years in the Boy
Scouts of America.
3) To what career will you connect this project (required)?
I will connect this project with the Fire Rescue Career field.
4) Describe what you are proposing to do for your Product step-by-step and in detail. Write on the
back of this sheet if necessary.
In order to complete my product, I will first train with current Cherokee County Fire Fighters
by participating in the Cherokee County Fire Department Explorers Program. This will allow me to
familiarize myself with the various forms of fire rescue and will give me the knowledge I need to
create an effective and realistic course. Next, I will need to create the course, simulating an individual
being rescued from a common scenario in fire rescue. Then I will actually create the course using the
plans I have made, using the necessary materials. I will need to obtain several obstacles, such as a
“tight-squeeze,” which simulates a fire fighter crawling through a small opening in order to retrieve
and rescue the victim. I will also need several sections of hose to create the path along which the
obstacle is meant to be traveled. Additionally, I will need a life-sized dummy to simulate a victim.
Finally, I will prepare and run through the course in full Fire-Fighter’s gear, including an air pack, to
show that I fully understand and have learned the concepts and techniques of proper fire rescue. I
will be able to get all of these from the Cherokee County Fire Department Explorer Program. I will
have various clips taken by others made into a video portfolio of myself creating and completing the
course in a step by step format.
5) How is this projecta “learning stretch” and a challenge for you?

2. This Project is a “learning stretch” because it will require me to learn the basic concepts and
techniques of fire rescue and to apply these concepts to a scenario of my creation. This will be a
challenge to me because it will require me to use all of my abilities, physical and mental, to create this
course while applying all of the required concepts of fire rescue to it.
6) What are your estimated costs for completing the Product, and how will you fund these costs?
There are no estimated costs for this project.
7) Who have you chosen (or are considering choosing) as your Project Facilitator?
I am considering choosing Sgt. Deel of the Cherokee County Fire Department as my Project
Facilitator.
8) What is this person’s expertise in this field?
This person’s expertise in this field includes many years of service in the Fire Department, and
immense leadership experience from it.
