1. Creekview Senior Project Proposal Form 2012-13
Student Name (please print) _______Jesse Hood______________________________________
Teacher__________Lester____________________ Date _________8-17-12___________________
All questions must be completed thoroughly to receive approval for your Senior Project. Some
projects will be submitted to a committee for final approval. This form must be completed and
returned to your senior English teacher by Friday, August 17, 2012. You will not be allowed to
change your topic after October 12, 2012.
The Senior Project is subject to the plagiarism policies set forth by the district and Creekview High
School.
1) Describe the overall topic of your Senior Project.
The overall topic of my senior project will be to lead and preform with the Creekview High
School Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps Drill and Exhibition team. We will compete in several
meets around the state and preform Color Guard and Exhibition Routines.
2) What is your previous experience in this area of study?
In the field that I have chosen I have over three years of experience. I started Rifle Exhibition
my freshman year of high school and have been drilling in JROTC every year since.
3) To what career will you connect this project (required)?
I will connect this project to my future military career and dreams of becoming a member of
the Blue Ridge Rifles. Leadership plays a key role in the military and the leadership skills I will learn
through this will be beneficial in many ways to my future.
4) Describe what you are proposing to do for your Product step-by-step and in detail. Write on the
back of this sheet if necessary.
The first step of my project will be to find my facilitator. I hope to use Coach Fuller in this
process. My second step will be to create posters to advertise to cadets the team and gain more
members to the standing Drill Team. Once I have the number of cadets and amount in each division
(exhibition and drill) I will begin practice in mid-September. Once practice has begun we will begin to
work towards improving both new and experienced cadets. Once everyone has the rhythm of
exhibition and drill, we will begin work on my product (an 8 man armed drill squad) and practice for
competitions. Once my product is complete the result will be a squad of 8 armed cadets who will
execute a routine of my design.
5) How is this project a “learning stretch” and a challenge for you?
This project will be a learning stretch as it will challenge my leadership and rifle spinning
abilities throughout the year. As I lead my team to victory in competitions and bring honor to the
Corps of Cadets with Color Guards at events around the county, it will demonstrate how much I have
learned not only about how to lead but about myself.
2. 6) What are your estimated costs for completing the Product, and how will you fund these costs?
The estimated costs are little. I will spend around 20 dollars for advertisements to encourage students
to join the team. No more than 150 dollars will be spent on gas driving to and from school and to
competitions, but this is money that will be spent regardless.
7) Who have you chosen (or are considering choosing) as your Project Facilitator?
For my project Facilitator I plan to ask Mr. Fuller, a Spanish teacher. I also could ask Lieutenant
Colonel (RET) James Holly to be my facilitator.
8) What is this person’s expertise in this field?
Coach Fuller attended North Georgia College and State University for four years and was an
honorary member of the elite Blue Ridge Rifles each year, making him an expert in his field by all
standards.
