The Superior Parenting Style Of Parenting
The Superior Parenting Style In society, a child's character can often be a direct reflection of his or
her parents. Not the parents themselves, but rather their style of parenting is what is often seen as
wrong or sub par to other parenting styles. An example of this would be the differences between
opposite techniques utilized by Chinese and Western parents. However, neither the Chinese nor the
Western style of parenting provides the maximum amount of happiness and structure in a child's life.
Rather a fusion of the two parenting styles designs an environment where the child has freedom
while still maintaining a level of discipline.
One common question that occurs in the world with parenting, is how do Chinese children almost
always succeed. Well the answer definitely does not lie within the stereotypical assumption of an
average Chinese child's life consisting of ping pong, karate, and casually playing the piano. In
contrast to belief, a leisurely structured childhood is the exact opposite of what most Chinese
children endure during the early stages of their life. Demanding success, Chinese parents expect
nothing but excellence from the time you exit the womb. Chinese parents enforce strict rules and
guidelines for their children to follow, and do not shy away in their punctuality whatsoever.
In contrast to the harsh parenting Chinese children receive, the Western style of parenting offers
freedom. Allowing children to chose their own path in life, Western

Parenting Styles
96% of authoritative parents love their children unconditionally, while permissive parents are at
89% and authoritarians are at 31%. Parenting styles have a enormous say in how your children will
grow up. How you prefer to raise your children basically boils down to three major groups. Those
are the authoritarian, authoritative, and permissive. Although there are five styles of parenting, those
are the most commonly adopted. Authoritarian parents tend to have the "I have complete dominance
over you" thinking. Permissive parents are, the more laid back parents who do not long to upset their
children. The parents who have high standards, but provide their children with the resources they
need to succeed are the authoritative parents.
Authoritarian parents often do not express much love, and do not provide their children's choices.
They have strict rules, and their punishments go without an explanation. This style of parenting is
often considered the most controlling out of the three. They are ... Show more content on

They use bribery, and are usually especially nurturing. They reject the idea of keeping their children
under control. Permissive parents are also thought of as indulgent, or tolerant. "Researchers also
suggest that permissive parenting is linked to other risky behaviors such as drug intake, and other
forms of misconduct." Teens are three times more likely to be involved in heavy drinking if they are
raised by permissive parents. The children regularly lack self discipline, have exceptional social
skills, have a high self– esteem and are genuinely demanding. These kids generate their own
decisions, which are usually not the best. "68% of American parents admitted that their children are
very or somewhat spoiled." Permissive environments most likely don't cause any harm to the
children, and could benefit the children in an enormous

Single parenting
Introduction
Single parenting is one of the most important issues in world. People were not except the idea of
single parenting, that one of the parents has the responsibility to take care of the child. They believe
that one hand cannot clap. They see that the child should live with his parents not one of them.
Nowadays, single parenting become the phenomenon of the time , which mean we can find a lot of
children living with one their parents could be the mother or the father. There several reasons that
cause single parenting such as; death of a partner and divorce of parents. In this paper I am going

Grounding both parents' in the child's life is also important, it's important to involve both parents
equally, even when the child may only be living with one. Communication is key; a parent should
never ignore what their child is saying, because they might be saying something that is very
important to them. Parents need to make sure they communicate with both each other and their
children, about the child's everyday life.
Advantages of single parenting
There are several advantages of single parenting .first, No compromises. You get to be the sole
decision maker. With big decisions, especially if you have an amicable co–parenting relationship,
you may have to occasionally consult the other parent. But, for the most part, you get to decide
.second, less stress when you are not spending your time and energy fighting with your husband you
feel happier .also, you child feel comfortable this create less stress in your home .you finally have
the time and energy to spend with your child and you feel happy. Third, children feel like part of the
team. Since you will be spending much more time with them alone, they will probably have more of
a voice in family decisions. They will learn that what they have to say matters and that willing to
listen to their opinions. Finally, one less "child" to care for taking care of kids is one thing, things do

My Philosophy Of Parenting
As a parent of two toddlers, aged two and four, I found last week's lecture stimulating and
enlightening. Before having children I did not appreciate the genuine difficulty that parenting
propositions. I find a pronounced challenge in pinpointing the ideal parenting viewpoint.
Undoubtedly, my philosophy towards parenting has an opposing impression than before my little
ones came along. Originally, I subscribed to the "don't spoil them" parenting attitude, an old school
approach that I currently oppose. I was familiar with a traditional parenting understanding brewed
from the guidance of trusted friends, family, and personal childhood experiences. My interpretation
of parenting has transformed after becoming a parent and is aided from

Communication And Parenting
What is communication? How does communicating relate to parenting?
Communication is when words or conversations are exchanged by more than two person that are
able to get a mutual understanding. Communicating relates to parenting because when a parent talks
to their child, the child is able to respond, and express about how they feel and such.
Communicating can either be through actions or verbal.
How can financial issues affect parenting?
Financial issues can affect parenting because since they are not financially stable, they may need to
work multiple jobs which means they have less time to spend with their child. Spending less time
with a child, can cause a parent and the child to not form a strong relationship since they're never
present.

Parenting Styles In Grace Based Parenting
My family situation is very positive. My parents have been married for years. They were not able to
have kids till they were years old. In 1997 they had me and four years later in 2001 they had my
younger brother. Both of my parents' parenting styles are different. They both, however have a
combination of parenting styles described in Grace Based Parenting. Grace Based Parenting
addresses seven parenting methods. The seven methods are fear–based, evangelical behavior–
modification, image–control, high–control, herd–mentality, duct–tape, and life–support or 911
parenting. I think at one time or another, either both or one of my parents have exercised the
methods fear–based, high–control, and grace–based parenting. My parents have not always had a
fear–based approach to parenting. I believe when my brother and I were young they took on this
method mainly to protect us. Because my mother has experience in the medical field and more
specifically worked at Scottish Rite, she has seen some terrible things that have happened to
children. Thus, she did not allow us to go over and hang out with just anyone. Our door, however,
was always open to any neighborhood kids and I remember many times that we had almost every
child in the neighborhood in our living room. They did not discourage us from hanging out with
"nonreligious" children in the neighborhood. In fact, they encouraged us to set a good example for
those kids. They, also, encouraged us to invite them to church and most times we had at least one
child going with us to church. When it came to television and the Internet, I did not have television
till I was in 3rd grade and could use the Internet, but it was monitored. My parents implemented
high–control parenting in that they had a lot of control on if I did or did not do something. They did
not push me out of my comfort zone in safe ways. They controlled so much because they wanted me
to be safe and never make any "big mistakes" that I never really got involved in anything that was
outside of a church activity or a sports team which one of my parents were always there to
supervise. I eventually felt that there was no need to try new things because they were always there
to judge or wanting me to

Questions On The Parenting Plan
Alvin,
I have some things that I would like to discuss with you, regarding the parenting plan. I recognize
the two of us have sort of have steered away from a few details and feel we need to get back on
track.
EXCHANGE
Initially, when creating the parenting plan, the two of us agreed to meet half–way for exchange since
you were living in Spring Hill, and I in Palm Harbor. This is why we chose the church. Since you
moved to New Port Richey a few months back, I have not suggested changing the location as I felt
comfortable meeting there. However, since your move, I understand you only live approximately 5
minutes away from the church; making it an exchange location no longer half–way. After this past
Sunday, when I drove 30 minutes out of my way for the switch not to happen, I realized how unfair
that is to me. For this reason, I would like to change the exchange location to be closer to the middle
again. According to Google Maps there is slightly under 30 minutes' drive (with no traffic) between
our addresses, therefore I feel a suitable meeting spot is at Publix in Tarpon Springs. This is still
further of a drive for me than for you, nevertheless I feel that it is an excellent location for a
comfortable swap. Please let me know if this is not plausible, thus an agreement can be made on this
matter.
I would even consider possibly the parent who is getting the children drives the full distance to pick
up, making meeting locations within 5 minutes of the home address (so for

Gentle Parenting Vs Gentle Parenting
Early childhood is an incredibly important part of a person's life when they learn critical life lessons.
The way that someone parents can have lasting and far–reaching effects on their children which is
why it is important, especially in the early years of a child's life, to parent in a way that successfully
teaches children to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner. This means that parents should
abandon the traditional reward and punishment system and adopt something known as gentle
parenting. Mainstream parenting focuses heavily on rewards and punishments from past action,
whereas gentle parenting focuses on compassion and instilling discipline for future actions to teach a
child right from wrong. A few key points of gentle parenting include having a strong child–parent
relationship in which the child feels loved, leading by example, and having a symbiotic relationship
between the parent and the child. It is imperative for a child to feel connected to and loved by their
parent. This means that the parent needs to go out of their way to make sure the child feels wanted
and is recognized as important. A lot of times parents can get caught up in work or they may spend a
lot of time on their phone and this could be detrimental to the child. The more love a child feels, the
more love and trust they are going to put back into the relationship. If a parent and child have a
strong relationship and the child feels cherished, they will know that the parent has their best

Overprotective Parenting
Individual children are significantly impacted by the parenting style and behaviours of their
caregivers as it influences the way they perceive the world and life skills they acquire. All parents
aim to shield their children from danger, illness and other harm, although there are some that protect
their offspring excessively. Despite the best intentions of mothers and fathers, overprotective
parenting or 'helicopter' parenting can have adverse effects of the long term wellbeing, growth and
development of children.
The tendencies of unduly protective parents are motivated by their attempt to assist their children.
The overprotective parent may aspire to excessively safeguard their children from any prospect of
harm, hurt, bad experiences, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Children who are subject to overprotective parenting may be more neurotic, dependant, self–
conscious, anxious and immature [Fontaine 2015]. Nemo shows signs of immaturity as he swims off
the "drop off" on his own just to spite his father. Moreover, he is often anxious about himself and
self–conscious about his little fin saying "I can't swim!" and having lower self–esteem. The
characteristics of over–restrictive care–givers can fail to instil virtues and values such as
responsibility, courage, self–esteem, self–respect and confidence [H. Williams 2011]. Personally, I
sometimes feel like I do not have the confidence to make decisions for myself and organise myself
as I am always bombarded with unsolicited help from others. The solutions to helicopter parenting
consist of sanctioning children to make mistakes and resolve their own problems [H. Williams 2011]
as well as to never do anything that they can do for themselves. The reduction of excessive
parenting behaviours can help children to have learn appropriate fear responses, develop social skills
and even intelligence [H. Lents 2018]. An example of appropriately protective parenting is
evidenced when Marlin supports and believes in Nemo as he had decided on a strategy to save the
tuna from being captured by the fishermen. To expand on this, it portrays the changing of Marlin's
parenting style and attitude

The Positives of Single Parenting What comes into your mind when you hear about single
parenting? "Americans attitudes towards single [parenting] were so negative–– by negative I mean,
nearly seven out of ten said that single [parents] raising a child without the benefit of a partner was
bad for society" (Huntington Post). Many assumptions are made towards single parents looking
down on them not knowing all that they go through. They just have that stereotypical mind that
single parents are bad parents. Thoughts like single parents may abandon their kids, and do not care
about them. Single parent may not know how to raise children on their own. What people do not

Which normally causes the parents to split and have the child be under the guidance of one parent..
Although these parents become single parents, they still have the help from the other parent when
they are visiting their child.
Many single parents just never married. They wouldn 't want to get involved into a long
commitment with their partner. Although some may know their child 's father they are still
considered single parents for raising the child as a single parent. Even as young as 15 years old
parents, can be found as single parents. These parents were way too young and choose to not
married the child 's father, choose to bring a child into the world where they would take care of them
on their own.
Lastly and not an uncommon way of being a single parent is being a widow. Mothers could died
while giving birth, leaving the father to raise the child on their own. Fathers or mother could have a
serious illness that keeps them from being in a child 's life as they grown up. As sad as it may be
some child grow up without a father or mother because they died before they could remember any
memories of them. The other parent is held responsible to take care and raise the child on their own
the best they can.
Single parenting is not an uncommon situation. There are many statistics taken to record the number
of single parenting. "According to U.S. census Bureau there are 12 million single parent

Require Parenting Classes
Required Parenting Class:
The One Thing That Could Save Children
"Rock a bye baby in the tree top, when the wind blows the cradle will rock. When the bough breaks
the cradle will fall, down will come baby, cradle and all." A nursery rhyme, created so long ago,
gives insight into unsafe parenting. A child is falling while being outside in unhealthy weather
conditions. A child needs tender love and care in a safe environment, not a place outside in the wind.
Today, gradually people are procreating, but they have no idea how to enter into parenthood. Poor
parenting has been a problem going far back, simply when parents don't know how to care for a
child or what to expect when being a parent.
Before becoming a parent, soon–to–be's should ought to take classes to prepare themselves. The
classes would include what becoming a parent means, what to expect (with real life examples), how
to manage children when they are young and later in life, and finally, how to prepare them for the
next stages in their life. Parenting classes are powerful tools that every mother, father, and soon–to–
be's should take. Parenting classes could help better our society by providing caregivers with the
knowledge needed to be successful. Providing parenting classes could have the potential to ... Show

Parenting Vs Today 's Parenting
Introduction Over the years, everyone has discussed how schooling can be improved and what they
can do to make that happen. They always discuss factors like teachers, curriculums, friends, and
sports but when it comes down to it, a child is made into the person they will be in the future by
their parents or guardians. Dr. Gail Gross, a nationally recognized family, child development, and
human behavior expert, says, "At the end of the day, parents must parent– you must be what you
want to see. From a very young age your child will mimic you and your behavior." (Gail Gross, Par.

In a study conducted by Ronald Riggio, the Henry R. Kravis Professor of Leadership and
Organizational Psychology and former Director of the Kravis Leadership Institute at Claremont
McKenna College, he was able to identify the four main parenting types. This includes
Authoritarian, Neglectful, Indulgent, and Authoritative parenting.
Authoritarian parenting are parents who prefer to have total control of their children. They are
usually very dominant and live their children 's life for them. It's also said that when children with
these types of parents usually grow up to be kind of antisocial and lacking of leadership skills. This
could be and he 's a huge problem in school and after school in work or in just general life (Ronald
Riggio, Par. 1). This parenting style can also be referred to as helicopter parenting. In the article,
"Teen Spirit" which is written about helicopter parenting, Dan Slate, an author through Zinc
Reading Labs, states, "The hardest part of the parents' task is often the quid pro quo, insisting on
getting some things from their kid up front, in return for the privilege–not the inevitability but the
earned privilege–of going to college. Parents have to accept that the narratives are
Akulschin 3 open–ended. One never knows which "failure" will be the tipping point for an
adolescent toward more effort, self–reflection, assuming responsibility, in a word, discovering inner
motivation." (Dan Slate, Par. 14)

Single Parenting Effects
Single Parenting and Its Effects on Everyone
According to Custodial Mothers and Fathers and Their Child Support: 2007, which is a report
released by the U.S. Census Bureau, almost 13.7 million single parents had custody of their 21.8
million children under the age of 21. (2009) 21.8 million children make up over 18% of all the
children in the U.S. There are a multitude of effects when single parenting is present. Children that
are involved in a single parent situation usually don't have the same economic or human resources
that are available to children that involved in two parent family homes. The children are more likely
to be high school dropouts, have teen pregnancy or be the cause of it, and to experience divorce in
their own adult lives, when compared to two parent traditional families. Children from single parent
families often have a lower self esteem and usually lack financial stability. Not every effect is
negative though. Some positive effects include, less parental conflicts and more bonding with one
individual parent, faster maturity, and a better sense of responsibility. Why is all of this? Being a
single parent can bring a plethora of problems. It is much harder to maintain a set discipline routine
when there is just one parent in the household. This one parent must play both the good cop and the
bad cop role. It is much harder to discipline when you are the only parent. But the most difficult task
of all while being a single parent is trying to find a

Teen Parenting Essay
Why Teen Parenting should be delayed?
Raising a child isn't an easy thing to do. Raising a child while the parents are still in their teens is
even harder. Dealing with the day to day chores that involves a baby and trying to work and get an
education is very stressful on any teen.
Teen Parenting should be delayed because it is very difficult to handle, some can't handle it. One of
my friends is a teen mom, and she wouldn't wish a teen pregnancy on any teen. Trying to work, go
to school, raise a baby and still having some growing up to do is nowhere near easy. Dealing with a
checkbook, a husband, a newborn, a job and finishing school at sixteen was hard. But she managed,
just like many other teen moms but she do wish things could have ... Show more content on

Often the mom will realize he isn't the best person in the world to be a dad, so she doesn't push the
issue. Child support is a problem, since most young dads, like the mom, are still in school or not
making very much at work. There are some great teen dads out there but unfortunately, they are few
and far between.
If the mom decides to stay with her parents, she deals with relationship issues on this front too. All
to often grandparents want to take over. How can they not? It's extremely hard to step back and let
your teen parent another child while you know they're so young, especially if the parenting styles
they have aren't what the grandparents practiced on their own children. Babysitting, parenting styles,
doubting the ability of the teen. All these can truly affect a teen mom in a negative way.
Finishing school and working to support a baby is also a big problem. In today's world, a college
degree is almost a must for any good paying job. A high school education is even more important. If
a teen mom still has to go to school and work, she has very little time to be a mother. The worst part
of it all, is that usually, that's what a teen mom really wants to be. Most teen moms don't want to be
part of the statistics. They don't want to be looked down on. They do want to take care of their child,
or children, in hopes that they grow up to be strong people. They also want to show the world that
they can be a good parent. It's just too bad that society

tremendously. Also if the child's mother has a conflict with her pregnancy that can lead to her fetus
developing ADHD as well (9).
"If parents are not part of the solution, they are part of the problem." (4, para. 6) There is substantial
evidence that parenting may be related to the development and maintenance of disruptive behaviors
in children with ADHD (7). A highly distressed parent can make their child's behavior worse if their
parenting style is too rigid (4). If the child's family is not stable or supportive of their child then that
can lead to the child developing mental problems. So to have a positive, supportive parenting style

Parenting Reflection
Becoming a more competent communicator and disciplinarian, without escalating conflict is what I
am working on, specifically with my five teenage children, ages 17, 15, 14, 14 and 14. After my
divorce, my children were beginning to exhibit at risk behaviors, such as sneaking out of the home,
disregarding family rules and expectations with regard to homework, chores and their overall safety.
Eventually a friend who is employed with the Department of Children and Family Services referred
me to Youth Services. This resulted in attending weekly classes for ten weeks aimed at reducing
conflict and finding new ways to communicate with my children. The class is structured around the
peer reviewed research of the same name, Strengthening Families, and provides an atmosphere for
me to work with youth counselors who actively assist me in changing my parenting style to adopt a
more collaborative approach.
Through my research and attendance of the Strengthening Families classes, it became glaringly
obvious that the approach I was taking to parenting, was not successful. One of my discoveries
through this project is that overall, my children respond better to a collaborative approach and it is
more meaningful to hold them accountable for their actions when we have all decided ahead of time
what those consequences will be. While I have five children left in my home, I have an older son
who is married and on his own, I have been parenting one way for a very long time and I found

It is interesting how much impact a particular parenting style can have on a child's wellbeing and
development throughout the child's life, including adulthood. According to Kol (2016), the parenting
style can influence children aged 5–6 years and their social skills. The author conducted a study of
231 students in that age group and used two different surveys to identify the parenting style of the

democratic style of parenting, which is similar to that of the authoritative practice, had the best

When it come to raising kids people will never know how to do it correctly. The child will still
throw tantrums, the teen will still give attitude, and the young adult will insists on going to a 4 year

many ways to raise a child. Every person has a way of doing things that they deem right. Looking
deeper in the process of raising a child or teen will reveal so much. "...keep in mind that every
parent child relationship is different, so there is not one sure fire way to go about parenting."(
Rachel Telles, and Bianca Mgbemere.) Parenting is put into 4 general categories. Authoritarian,
permissive, neglectful and authoritative. People fall into these categories, but there are a select few
that don't. The two drastically different ones will be compared and contrasted. When it comes to
parenting trying to find that happy medium between Authoritarian and permissive is the best
possible thing to do for both parent and child.
Each parenting style can drastically alter a child's mood, behavior, actions, and relationships. They
also have positive and negative side effects and depending on how harsh they are implemented it
could have serious effects on a developing child. It is up to the parents to figure out together how
they would want their child raised. Alison Poulsen argues " Often, one spouse allows the other to do

Authoritative Parenting
There are four major parenting styles identified based on the dimensions of support and control–
authoritative, authoritarian, permissive, and neglectful. Authoritative parenting is characterized by
the parents' high responsiveness, high demands of the child, high levels of autonomy granting
(Driscoll et al., 2008; Jabagchourian, Sorkhabi, Quach, & Strage, 2014; Rodriguez, Donovick &

high demands, low autonomy granting (Driscoll et al., 2008; Rodriguez et al., 2009). Permissive

Authoritative parenting is positively related to psychological well–being of children and teens

disengaged parents are at a higher risk of poor mental health outcome and low academic

Styles Of Parenting
There are three different styles of parenting and the level of attachment in relation to the parenting
style. In the course book, it defines attachment as the establishment of a close emotional relationship
between parent and child (Zimbardo, Johnson, and McCann, 2014, p.274). The parenting style my
parents used was the authoritative style. My parents were warm and sensitive to my needs and
interests. Growing up they made reasonable demands, explained the rules and when needed
enforced those rules. Yes, my parents have high expectations for me; however, it is because they
want the best for me. My parents and I have a close relationship and this is reflected in their
parenting style. In the course book, it mentions that researchers have found

Immigrant Parenting Styles
Past research has focused on parenting and child development in minority and immigrant families as
culturally deficient, however Perreria et al. (2006) study shows that among Latino immigrants, the
broader context of reception into their new communities shapes the societal factors that influence
their adaptation and parenting. Driscoll, Russell, and Crockett (2008) study focuses on the four
different types of parenting styles practiced by immigrant parents and their effects on the children.
The first type of parenting is permissive parenting in which parents are flexible with their children
but to a point that children have no major consequences for actions. In this parenting style Driscoll
et al. (2008) found that teens of immigrants who

Western Parenting Vs Western Parenting
To be a parent, by definition, is to be or act as a mother or father to (someone). Success, by
definition, is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. Parents should want their child to succeed,
but the way to do it is very controversial and it can stir many arguments and disputes. Eastern
parenting, or Chinese parenting, is very harsh and strict, while Western parenting is a bit more
relaxed. I believe that the best way to raise a child is by using a combination of the Western and
Eastern parenting styles by letting children pursue their interests, preparing them for the future, and
being strict while still understanding every child's limits. First of all, parents should allow children
to pursue their interests and allow them to choose what they want to do, whether it be a hobby or an
academic career. Parents that use the Eastern parenting style, in this case, highly limit what their
child is allowed to do. On the other hand, parents that use the Western parenting style mostly allow
children to do as they please, but it has to be used in moderation. Amy Chua is a parent that uses the
Eastern parenting style, and she highly limits what her children are able to do, "Here are some things
that [Chua's] daughters, Sophia and Louisa, were never allowed to do: attend a sleepover, have a
playdate, be in a school play, complain about not being in a school play, watch TV or play computer

Parenting Observation
Previously, I was aware that infants require a relationship with their caregiver in order to be healthy.
Infants are not able to provide themselves with their basic needs, but they also require a secure
attachment to be mentally sound. In the past, we theorized that allowing infants to cry without
providing them attention, or only allowing a wet nurse to care for them, increased their ability to be
self–reliant later in life. Now, we understand that individuals who are self–reliant are able to be
independent because they have their emotional and physical needs met. According to Erikson once
children have established trust, they can feel secure enough to develop autonomy. This means that
the Victorian era concept of refusing care for infants is not the most effective parenting tactic.
However, infants and toddlers are not the sole product of their environment. Nature and nurture

Infants require a stable relationship with their parents or caregivers to develop a sense of trust, self–
esteem and autonomy later in life. When it comes to social and emotional development the
relationships that children form with their parents are the primary context for learning (Parlakian, 5.)

developing a sense of self, and learning to communicate. As a toddler she will begin to develop
autonomy, and start testing limits. She has already begun testing some limits by getting into things
she shouldn't, but she is still very attached to her mother. I am glad to know that this is common, as
shown on the "Terrific Two–Year–Olds" slide. Two year olds are in a transitioning stage, and it's

Different approaches will work for different children in your family, and the rules will change as
your children grow.
Understanding why children misbehave
All children test the limits you set and try to cross boundaries some of the time.
This is an inevitable part of growing up, learning and becoming an independent person. Younger
children particularly may test constantly. This is not them being naughty or disobedient – it is the
only way they can learn when you mean what you say and what the limits to their behaviour are.
Attention seeking
Children will do just about anything to get the attention they crave from their parents.
Revenge
Trying to get back at someone they feel has treated them badly – a sibling, parent or friend. Children
may not understand your reasons for insisting on a rule or limit – it helps to recognise their feelings
of anger.
Feeling sad
A child of any age may show that they are feeling sad or anxious by behaving badly and may need
more sympathy and affection. Punishing them will only make matters worse.
Feeling powerless
If a child feels upset at not having control, they may often hit out or get mad at an older sibling or
friend.

Some children are simply not able to do what their parents want because of their age or

Ideas of Parenting
Parenting is different for everyone, but is any one way really better than the other? Amy Chua, a
professor at Yale University, believes that the strict parenting style of Chinese mothers is the way to
go. She believes that her strict and often harsh parenting style contributed to the success of her
daughters. Chinese parents believe that if their children are successful, it is a reflection of the
parents. Hanna Rosin, a contributing editor for the Atlantic, has very different views from Ms. Chua
about the correct parenting style. Ms. Rosin believes that the more relaxed, nurturing, and self–led
style of Western parenting is the better way to raise children. She believes that placing your children
under immense pressure can produce ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Western parent allows the child to show interest in a subject or activity, then allows them to
explore this interest, whereas the Chinese style parent chooses school subjects and activities.
Allowing the children to first show interest in an activity helps to set the child up for success. If the
child likes an activity, they are more likely to practice or develop skills because they enjoy it, and
are not being forced into it. This may help their self–esteem as well, because they will be doing
something they like, instead of being forced to do something that they may not have a natural
aptitude for and run the risk of failing. In addition to the close development choices of the Western
parent, they try to enhance the social development as well. They do this by sending the children to
sleep–away camps, or a friend's house for a sleepover. The Chinese parent doesn't allow the children
to attend sleepovers, school dances, sports events, etc. I think some children of the Western parents
love the way they were raised and allowed to explore and make their own decisions growing up. I
also believe there may be some children of Western parents that wish their parents had been stricter,
or pushed them more when they were younger. There are pros and cons to both parenting styles.
Some pros from both sides are that the children are nurtured, receive all of the education

Four Parenting Styles
When we are discussing parent methods we need to be aware there are many factors that affect how
parent develop their children. There is a social factor that affects how we develop our child. This
different factor affects parents and how they believe a child should act and behave. Mothers and
father both play a huge roll in a child development. How a mother and father choose to parent their
children also affect what kind of person the child will become. There are four different parenting
methods this is authoritative, permissive, authoritarian, uninvolved and passive parenting styles.
This dimension affects a parent and child relationship.

Authoritative parenting styles are when a parent demands and maintain a high level of control over
the children but also warm and receptive. Permissive parenting style is when the parent places few
controls or demand on the child. Authoritarian parenting styles are when the parent is strict, punitive
and not warm. Uninvolved parents give children a lot of freedom and generally stay out of their
way. Some parents may make a conscious decision to parent in this way, while others are less
interested in parenting or unsure of what to do. Uninvolved parenting styles allow the child to do as
they see fit. A parent who due to this parenting style out of lack of information and care. Often the
children lack nurturing and there are few or no expectations of children. When reviewing this four
different parenting styles we can see that due to the diverse parenting styles the child development
may be complex. Mother and father both can use any or all this parenting styles that best fit the

Authoritative Parenting : The Importance Of Authoritative...
Parenting can be challenging for most parents, and we don't always get it right. Parenting takes time,
unconditional love and understanding. Balswick and Balswick, (2014) suggests that "authoritative
parenting" is more efficient. The development of a child is a very important and impacts their life
overall into becoming a mature reciprocating self. I believe that good parenting starts with prayer,
commitment and loving your children unconditionally. Authoritative parents do not let their children
get away with wrong behavior, bad attitudes. These children are responsible and will more likely
succeed in life.
Authoritative parenting is described as having consistent boundaries, clear and appropriate
expectations, healthy communication ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe parenting styles and society play an important role in adolescent rebellion. From my own
experiences I believe rebellion is common today because of peer pressures, negative lyrics in music
that send out wrong messages and neglectful parenting. Rebellion also stems from disengaged
families, because theirs no support.
C. J. Heck quoted that, "we become come a product of our environment" and I feel this is true
statement. Some adolescents seem to follow the crowd, stating "if everybody else is doing it, why
not?" In our readings, Balswick, (2014) finds that "adolescent rebellion is the highest in very
permissive and very restrictive homes." (p. 167. We as parents should have compassion and
understanding when rebellion has begun. Gods discipline for us is done with love, affirmation and
grace and we are to do the same when it comes to parenting.
Because adolescence is one of the most important stages in a child's life, the church community
should be consistently involved. Balswick claiming the church does little in the way of bringing
them into responsible positions. I do agree with this statement because although some churches are
involved, we need more. Hauerwas, (1981) describes the church as the first family of every
Christian by pointing out that we learn, fidelity and love in a community that is sustained by a

Parenting And Strict Parenting Style
Every single parent around the world has their own parenting style and techniques, but there are two
common base types of parenting anywhere in the world, strict and lenient. Strict parents tend to be
more demanding of their children, while a lenient parent will be more flexible. Which parenting
style is more appropriate for children? I believe there's no right answer to this question. A lack of
strict parenting can lead children to be more irresponsible or indifferent about life choices and
matters regarding their education. A lenient parent can raise a joyful child, but if leniency is too
consistent it can eventually shape a misbehaved or spoiled child, or in the worst scenario, a juvenile
delinquent. Some folks will argue that either way must be picked to raise a child. I believe
otherwise, there should be a with an equilibrium of both parenting styles regardless of their
ethnicity. Any child could be successful without the deprivation of common joyful activities that
children should experience at their age.
Firstly, some parenting styles will prevent children to enjoy from common childhood activities in
order to solely focus on school and extracurricular activities. They would prohibit children to have
playdates, play computer games, watch TV, etc. These parents will prevent the goods of childhood,
they believe that being completely strict will raise a successful child in the future. However, I
believe children shouldn't be deprived for common childhood activities to satisfy those qualities. For
instance, according to Powell's article where he describes his parenting style towards his daughter,
"She goes out to play with the kids in our neighborhood. And she watches movies. In fact, one of the
reasons Abby's English is so good is that she spends time watching The Lion King and Toy Story.
That's more freedom than Chua's kids were allowed, according to her book." Powell believes that
his child can be able to do well in school without the need of depriving his child from things
children do at their age such as watching movies. On the other hand, Chua's remarked about her
daughters that, "Well, I can tell them, because I've done it. Here are some things my daughters,
Sophia and Louisa, were never allowed to

Disadvantages Of Co-Parenting
Co–parenting is the sharing of parental responsibility by divorced parents or joint shared custody of
a child. It involves being interactive, cooperative, and supportive of the child which is important
because it is a factor that determines whether the cognitive adjustment of a child's development is
successful or not. According to Feinberg (2014), co–parenting consists of four dimensions: 1.)
agreement/disagree on issues 2.) work regarding childbearing 3.) supports from both parents and 4.)
interactions in the family. Co–parenting can be stressful after a divorce due to the change of
lifestyle; it is difficult for both the parents and the children. Money, properties, and items can be
divided up but not children because they need love and affection from both parents. When speaking
of children, jealousy between the parents will arise, this will lead them to bad talk and rage about
each other to the children. This affects a child's cognitive development and emotional state
negatively because the two people they love and look up to are messing with their mind. The
opportunities for crucial nurturing activities and access visits may not be provided therefore the
child would lack cognitive and communication skills. (Schmidt, 2016). This can possibly lead to
depression, chronic stress, and anxiety. Ineffective co–parenting can hurt a child because the child
may not get the discipline they need to understand, they would feel confused by conflicting
messages from parents that

During my upbringing, the parenting style that I have experienced would be the authoritarian and
authoritative style. In life, my parents have been strict at times but lenient at most times. My parents
have been the type to let me be free, because I was raised to be respectful towards others. Through
junior high, my parents were very strict about what I did. In my home we had security and cameras.
My parents didn't like many of the people that came over to our home. There were times my parents
let me go out and have fun but I had to have my homework done. I wasn't antisocial in school but
withdrawn. I wouldn't blame it on my parents because I hated hanging around with friends. I

My Philosophy Of Parenting
In the independent model of parenting lots of praise is given. When I become a parent I plan to
praise my child when they do tasks on their own. Praise will give the child confidence and
perseverance to continue to do well. Children who never get praised may end up feeling like a
disappointment or failure to their parents. It's important for children to find their voice and not
always have a parent speak up for them like in the interdependence model. I also believe it's
extremely important for a child to sleep in their own room. "The Academy of Pediatrics does not
recommend co–sleeping because Western beds are not designed for that'd infant deaths are attributed
to parents' rolling over on the child." (Brooks, 2013) Co–sleeping is not only ... Show more content

"An exceptional child is a child who is different in some way from the average typical child. This
could include a gifted child, handicapped, or a learning disability." (HDFS 641 Parenting
Exceptional Children) An exceptional child needs a lot more care and nurture then a child who does
not have a disability. I mentioned earlier that I plan to focus on the independent model of parenting.
For a child with a disability this is unrealistic. They need their parent to constantly be there every
step of the way. The parent–child bond may be affected such as having a child that is very hard to
care for or having a child that provides few social cues. Roles that a parent needs to take on with an
exceptional child are added on to the roles they normally have to take on. If my child happen to have
an exceptionality I would take on the role of being my child's advocate for their entire

Parenting In American Society
Do you think or believe American society provides too much or too little quality education on the
role of parenting and how that shapes our children and generations to come?
What do you suggest as a way to resolve this issue?
I believe American society does not provide enough quality education on the nature of parenting and
the impact of development of our children and the generations ahead. In today's world we face the
challenges of being judged by the aspect of our chosen parenting style. Though we (parents) all have
our own boundaries, standards, and beliefs to the ways of how we parent, society has us in a
"microscope "ready to scull anyone (with judgement) who is different and that doesn't stay in the
mainstream of what society views parenting

Parenting Style Of Parenting Styles
Pin pointing a specific parenting style that I was raised by was quite difficult. I believe that most
parents use different styles throughout the raising of their children. Of course, I do understand that
this paper is to select the dominate style of parenting used for my upbringing, but I was raised in two
different households. Each household had its own dominate parenting style, however most of my
life I was raised by my mother, so I'll focus on her parenting style. As I stated above, I believe
parents use almost all the parenting styles in dealing with different situations. My mother was no
exception to this. She could go from authoritarian to permissive without even blinking an eye, which

Overall, my mother was distant and didn't expect much from my siblings and me. An example of
this parenting style would be when I found out I had received a scholarship from the Heartland
Foundation. When my mother found out she went on multiple social media sites to tell everyone the
good news, but she did not contact me at all. I ended up asking her to be my plus one to the
scholarship dinner; I guess I'm still stuck in the loop of trying to make her proud. On the way to the
dinner the car was filled with silence. No congratulations. No "I'm proud of you" moments. Just
heavy silence. At the dinner we spoke maybe twenty words to each other. Most of these words were
commenting on how nice the Bone Student Center looked and how delicious the meal was. When
the dinner ended, my mother drove me back home and said goodbye. No "I love you". Nothing but
goodbye. Another example of my mother's disengagement would be when my sister was suspended
multiple times and almost expelled. My sister tried to find attention from other people since she was
receiving none at home. Her way of gaining this attention was getting into fights, and sadly, it
worked. It took three incidents to gain the attention of my mother, and this only gained her attention
because she received three different tickets for the fighting from the police

Stereotypes Of Parenting
As teenagers, there is the stereotype that we complain about our parents all the time. And the topic
that most adults would think we complain about is how our parents are controlling or are butting
into our lives too much. Of course, it is normal for a parent to be overprotective from time to time,
but little did I know that there are parents who literally control and or live their child's life. Over–
overprotective parenting – otherwise known as helicopter parenting or coddling – is occurring more
and more frequently. Remember when you were younger and you would participate in a game or
competition? If you won, you got a prize, if you lost, you got nothing. Your parents would tell you,
"try better next time" or "better luck next time." But ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sure, parents want the best for their kid and do not want them to fail. However, it ends up just
making things worse. In her article, Almendrala said, "Their children grow up without knowing
simple skills like cooking, cleaning, or even doing laundry. They also have a higher risk of
depression, are likely to lack self–confidence, and will have less initiative than their peers." Kids
need to learn to do chores and how to help themselves so that they do not have to learn those skills
later in life when they need them. For the older generations, once you left the house, there was no
going back and you were on your own. Today, almost 65% of young adults end up returning home
and 59% of parents provide financial aid, even though their child is no longer in school. While
helping children while they are young is what is expected, you shouldn't help them to the point
where they are dependent on others in the future. Let them rise, let them fall, let them live their lives
without the foam wrapped corners and the bubble–wrap armor. Eventually you have to throw them
in the deep end; and it's better to teach them how to swim when they could still touch the ground,
than to give them floaties their entire lives and having them

first was to determine the different stressors and attitudes given by the parents in a child welfare–

stressors that could cause ineffective parenting to children. The second main purpose was to get a
better understanding of the different issues, so there can be better involvements growth in the

data was also collected from the Adult–Adolescent Parenting Inventory (AAPI–2) to determine
attitudes regarding parenting and child rearing. In this program, it used five categories that specified
child maltreatment risk. These five categories included the inappropriate parental expectations of
children, parental lack of empathy towards children's needs, strong belief in the use of corporal
punishment, and reversing parent–child family roles, and oppressing children's power and
independence. There are two main ways for applicants to be chosen for the interviews. This is either
through a small presentation or through letters delivered to prior applicants. The applicants, no
matter which way they were chosen, could then reach out to the researcher and find a way to contact
them, if they desired an interview. There were a couple of details that could cause a parent not to be

The Superior Parenting Style Of Parenting

  • 1. The Superior Parenting Style Of Parenting The Superior Parenting Style In society, a child's character can often be a direct reflection of his or her parents. Not the parents themselves, but rather their style of parenting is what is often seen as wrong or sub par to other parenting styles. An example of this would be the differences between opposite techniques utilized by Chinese and Western parents. However, neither the Chinese nor the Western style of parenting provides the maximum amount of happiness and structure in a child's life. Rather a fusion of the two parenting styles designs an environment where the child has freedom while still maintaining a level of discipline. One common question that occurs in the world with parenting, is how do Chinese children almost always succeed. Well the answer definitely does not lie within the stereotypical assumption of an average Chinese child's life consisting of ping pong, karate, and casually playing the piano. In contrast to belief, a leisurely structured childhood is the exact opposite of what most Chinese children endure during the early stages of their life. Demanding success, Chinese parents expect nothing but excellence from the time you exit the womb. Chinese parents enforce strict rules and guidelines for their children to follow, and do not shy away in their punctuality whatsoever. In contrast to the harsh parenting Chinese children receive, the Western style of parenting offers freedom. Allowing children to chose their own path in life, Western ... • 3. Parenting Styles 96% of authoritative parents love their children unconditionally, while permissive parents are at 89% and authoritarians are at 31%. Parenting styles have a enormous say in how your children will grow up. How you prefer to raise your children basically boils down to three major groups. Those are the authoritarian, authoritative, and permissive. Although there are five styles of parenting, those are the most commonly adopted. Authoritarian parents tend to have the "I have complete dominance over you" thinking. Permissive parents are, the more laid back parents who do not long to upset their children. The parents who have high standards, but provide their children with the resources they need to succeed are the authoritative parents. Authoritarian parents often do not express much love, and do not provide their children's choices. They have strict rules, and their punishments go without an explanation. This style of parenting is often considered the most controlling out of the three. They are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They use bribery, and are usually especially nurturing. Teens are three times more likely to be involved in heavy drinking if they are raised by permissive parents. The children regularly lack self discipline, have exceptional social skills, have a high self– esteem and are genuinely demanding. These kids generate their own decisions, which are usually not the best. "68% of American parents admitted that their children are very or somewhat spoiled." Before having children I did not appreciate the genuine difficulty that parenting propositions. I find a pronounced challenge in pinpointing the ideal parenting viewpoint. Undoubtedly, my philosophy towards parenting has an opposing impression than before my little ones came along. Originally, I subscribed to the "don't spoil them" parenting attitude, an old school approach that I currently oppose. • 11. Parenting Styles In Grace Based Parenting My family situation is very positive. My parents have been married for years. They were not able to have kids till they were years old. In 1997 they had me and four years later in 2001 they had my younger brother. Both of my parents' parenting styles are different. They both, however have a combination of parenting styles described in Grace Based Parenting. Grace Based Parenting addresses seven parenting methods. The seven methods are fear–based, evangelical behavior– modification, image–control, high–control, herd–mentality, duct–tape, and life–support or 911 parenting. I think at one time or another, either both or one of my parents have exercised the methods fear–based, high–control, and grace–based parenting. My parents have not always had a fear–based approach to parenting. I believe when my brother and I were young they took on this method mainly to protect us. Because my mother has experience in the medical field and more specifically worked at Scottish Rite, she has seen some terrible things that have happened to children. Thus, she did not allow us to go over and hang out with just anyone. Our door, however, was always open to any neighborhood kids and I remember many times that we had almost every child in the neighborhood in our living room. They did not discourage us from hanging out with "nonreligious" children in the neighborhood. In fact, they encouraged us to set a good example for those kids. They, also, encouraged us to invite them to church and most times we had at least one child going with us to church. When it came to television and the Internet, I did not have television till I was in 3rd grade and could use the Internet, but it was monitored. My parents implemented high–control parenting in that they had a lot of control on if I did or did not do something. They did not push me out of my comfort zone in safe ways. They controlled so much because they wanted me to be safe and never make any "big mistakes" that I never really got involved in anything that was outside of a church activity or a sports team which one of my parents were always there to supervise. I eventually felt that there was no need to try new things because they were always there to judge or wanting me to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Questions On The Parenting Plan Alvin, I have some things that I would like to discuss with you, regarding the parenting plan. I recognize the two of us have sort of have steered away from a few details and feel we need to get back on track. EXCHANGE Initially, when creating the parenting plan, the two of us agreed to meet half–way for exchange since you were living in Spring Hill, and I in Palm Harbor. This is why we chose the church. Since you moved to New Port Richey a few months back, I have not suggested changing the location as I felt comfortable meeting there. However, since your move, I understand you only live approximately 5 minutes away from the church; making it an exchange location no longer half–way. After this past Sunday, when I drove 30 minutes out of my way for the switch not to happen, I realized how unfair that is to me. For this reason, I would like to change the exchange location to be closer to the middle again. According to Google Maps there is slightly under 30 minutes' drive (with no traffic) between our addresses, therefore I feel a suitable meeting spot is at Publix in Tarpon Springs. This is still further of a drive for me than for you, nevertheless I feel that it is an excellent location for a comfortable swap. Please let me know if this is not plausible, thus an agreement can be made on this matter. I would even consider possibly the parent who is getting the children drives the full distance to pick up, making meeting locations within 5 minutes of the home address (so for ... The way that someone parents can have lasting and far–reaching effects on their children which is why it is important, especially in the early years of a child's life, to parent in a way that successfully teaches children to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner. This means that parents should abandon the traditional reward and punishment system and adopt something known as gentle parenting. Mainstream parenting focuses heavily on rewards and punishments from past action, whereas gentle parenting focuses on compassion and instilling discipline for future actions to teach a child right from wrong. A few key points of gentle parenting include having a strong child–parent relationship in which the child feels loved, leading by example, and having a symbiotic relationship between the parent and the child. It is imperative for a child to feel connected to and loved by their parent. This means that the parent needs to go out of their way to make sure the child feels wanted and is recognized as important. A lot of times parents can get caught up in work or they may spend a lot of time on their phone and this could be detrimental to the child. The more love a child feels, the more love and trust they are going to put back into the relationship. • 19. Overprotective Parenting Individual children are significantly impacted by the parenting style and behaviours of their caregivers as it influences the way they perceive the world and life skills they acquire. All parents aim to shield their children from danger, illness and other harm, although there are some that protect their offspring excessively. Despite the best intentions of mothers and fathers, overprotective parenting or 'helicopter' parenting can have adverse effects of the long term wellbeing, growth and development of children. The tendencies of unduly protective parents are motivated by their attempt to assist their children. Children who are subject to overprotective parenting may be more neurotic, dependant, self– conscious, anxious and immature [Fontaine 2015]. Nemo shows signs of immaturity as he swims off the "drop off" on his own just to spite his father. Moreover, he is often anxious about himself and self–conscious about his little fin saying "I can't swim!" and having lower self–esteem. The characteristics of over–restrictive care–givers can fail to instil virtues and values such as responsibility, courage, self–esteem, self–respect and confidence [H. Williams 2011]. Personally, I sometimes feel like I do not have the confidence to make decisions for myself and organise myself as I am always bombarded with unsolicited help from others. The solutions to helicopter parenting consist of sanctioning children to make mistakes and resolve their own problems [H. Williams 2011] as well as to never do anything that they can do for themselves. The reduction of excessive parenting behaviours can help children to have learn appropriate fear responses, develop social skills and even intelligence [H. Lents 2018]. An example of appropriately protective parenting is evidenced when Marlin supports and believes in Nemo as he had decided on a strategy to save the tuna from being captured by the fishermen. "Americans attitudes towards single [parenting] were so negative–– by negative I mean, nearly seven out of ten said that single [parents] raising a child without the benefit of a partner was bad for society" (Huntington Post). Many assumptions are made towards single parents looking down on them not knowing all that they go through. They just have that stereotypical mind that single parents are bad parents. Although these parents become single parents, they still have the help from the other parent when they are visiting their child. Many single parents just never married. Although some may know their child 's father they are still considered single parents for raising the child as a single parent. Even as young as 15 years old parents, can be found as single parents. These parents were way too young and choose to not married the child 's father, choose to bring a child into the world where they would take care of them on their own. • 23. Require Parenting Classes Required Parenting Class: The One Thing That Could Save Children "Rock a bye baby in the tree top, when the wind blows the cradle will rock. When the bough breaks the cradle will fall, down will come baby, cradle and all." A nursery rhyme, created so long ago, gives insight into unsafe parenting. A child is falling while being outside in unhealthy weather conditions. A child needs tender love and care in a safe environment, not a place outside in the wind. Today, gradually people are procreating, but they have no idea how to enter into parenthood. Poor parenting has been a problem going far back, simply when parents don't know how to care for a child or what to expect when being a parent. Before becoming a parent, soon–to–be's should ought to take classes to prepare themselves. The classes would include what becoming a parent means, what to expect (with real life examples), how to manage children when they are young and later in life, and finally, how to prepare them for the next stages in their life. They always discuss factors like teachers, curriculums, friends, and sports but when it comes down to it, a child is made into the person they will be in the future by their parents or guardians. Dr. Gail Gross, a nationally recognized family, child development, and human behavior expert, says, "At the end of the day, parents must parent– you must be what you want to see. From a very young age your child will mimic you and your behavior." (Gail Gross, Par. 6). Kravis Professor of Leadership and Organizational Psychology and former Director of the Kravis Leadership Institute at Claremont McKenna College, he was able to identify the four main parenting types. They are usually very dominant and live their children 's life for them. Parents have to accept that the narratives are Akulschin 3 open–ended. Single Parenting Effects Single Parenting and Its Effects on Everyone According to Custodial Mothers and Fathers and Their Child Support: 2007, which is a report released by the U.S. Census Bureau, almost 13.7 million single parents had custody of their 21.8 million children under the age of 21. (2009) 21.8 million children make up over 18% of all the children in the U.S. There are a multitude of effects when single parenting is present. Children that are involved in a single parent situation usually don't have the same economic or human resources that are available to children that involved in two parent family homes. The children are more likely to be high school dropouts, have teen pregnancy or be the cause of it, and to experience divorce in their own adult lives, when compared to two parent traditional families. Children from single parent families often have a lower self esteem and usually lack financial stability. Not every effect is negative though. Some positive effects include, less parental conflicts and more bonding with one individual parent, faster maturity, and a better sense of responsibility. Why is all of this? Being a single parent can bring a plethora of problems. It is much harder to maintain a set discipline routine when there is just one parent in the household. This one parent must play both the good cop and the bad cop role. It is much harder to discipline when you are the only parent. • 29. Teen Parenting Essay Why Teen Parenting should be delayed? Raising a child isn't an easy thing to do. Raising a child while the parents are still in their teens is even harder. Dealing with the day to day chores that involves a baby and trying to work and get an education is very stressful on any teen. Teen Parenting should be delayed because it is very difficult to handle, some can't handle it. One of my friends is a teen mom, and she wouldn't wish a teen pregnancy on any teen. Trying to work, go to school, raise a baby and still having some growing up to do is nowhere near easy. Dealing with a checkbook, a husband, a newborn, a job and finishing school at sixteen was hard. But she managed, just like many other teen moms but she do wish things could have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Often the mom will realize he isn't the best person in the world to be a dad, so she doesn't push the issue. Child support is a problem, since most young dads, like the mom, are still in school or not making very much at work. There are some great teen dads out there but unfortunately, they are few and far between. If the mom decides to stay with her parents, she deals with relationship issues on this front too. All to often grandparents want to take over. How can they not? It's extremely hard to step back and let your teen parent another child while you know they're so young, especially if the parenting styles they have aren't what the grandparents practiced on their own children. Babysitting, parenting styles, doubting the ability of the teen. All these can truly affect a teen mom in a negative way. Finishing school and working to support a baby is also a big problem. In today's world, a college degree is almost a must for any good paying job. A high school education is even more important. If a teen mom still has to go to school and work, she has very little time to be a mother. The worst part of it all, is that usually, that's what a teen mom really wants to be. Most teen moms don't want to be part of the statistics. They don't want to be looked down on. They do want to take care of their child, or children, in hopes that they grow up to be strong people. They also want to show the world that they can be a good parent. It's just too bad that society ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

"If parents are not part of the solution, they are part of the problem." (4, para. 6) There is substantial evidence that parenting may be related to the development and maintenance of disruptive behaviors in children with ADHD (7). A highly distressed parent can make their child's behavior worse if their parenting style is too rigid (4). If the child's family is not stable or supportive of their child then that can lead to the child developing mental problems. • 33. Parenting Reflection Becoming a more competent communicator and disciplinarian, without escalating conflict is what I am working on, specifically with my five teenage children, ages 17, 15, 14, 14 and 14. After my divorce, my children were beginning to exhibit at risk behaviors, such as sneaking out of the home, disregarding family rules and expectations with regard to homework, chores and their overall safety. Eventually a friend who is employed with the Department of Children and Family Services referred me to Youth Services. This resulted in attending weekly classes for ten weeks aimed at reducing conflict and finding new ways to communicate with my children. The class is structured around the peer reviewed research of the same name, Strengthening Families, and provides an atmosphere for me to work with youth counselors who actively assist me in changing my parenting style to adopt a more collaborative approach. Through my research and attendance of the Strengthening Families classes, it became glaringly obvious that the approach I was taking to parenting, was not successful. One of my discoveries through this project is that overall, my children respond better to a collaborative approach and it is more meaningful to hold them accountable for their actions when we have all decided ahead of time what those consequences will be. While I have five children left in my home, I have an older son who is married and on his own, I have been parenting one way for a very long time and I found changing ... According to Kol (2016), the parenting style can influence children aged 5–6 years and their social skills. The author conducted a study of 231 students in that age group and used two different surveys to identify the parenting style of the parent and the social skills of the child. Kol (2016) found that children with parents who practice the democratic style of parenting, which is similar to that of the authoritative practice, had the best social skills for that cohort. When it comes to parenting trying to find that happy medium between Authoritarian and permissive is the best possible thing to do for both parent and child. • 49. Western Parenting Vs Western Parenting To be a parent, by definition, is to be or act as a mother or father to (someone). Success, by definition, is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. Parents should want their child to succeed, but the way to do it is very controversial and it can stir many arguments and disputes. Eastern parenting, or Chinese parenting, is very harsh and strict, while Western parenting is a bit more relaxed. I believe that the best way to raise a child is by using a combination of the Western and Eastern parenting styles by letting children pursue their interests, preparing them for the future, and being strict while still understanding every child's limits. First of all, parents should allow children to pursue their interests and allow them to choose what they want to do, whether it be a hobby or an academic career. Parents that use the Eastern parenting style, in this case, highly limit what their child is allowed to do. On the other hand, parents that use the Western parenting style mostly allow children to do as they please, but it has to be used in moderation. Amy Chua is a parent that uses the Eastern parenting style, and she highly limits what her children are able to do, "Here are some things that [Chua's] daughters, Sophia and Louisa, were never allowed to do: attend a sleepover, have a playdate, be in a school play, complain about not being in a school play, watch TV or play computer games, choose their own extracurricular activities, get any grade less than an A, not be ... Infants are not able to provide themselves with their basic needs, but they also require a secure attachment to be mentally sound. In the past, we theorized that allowing infants to cry without providing them attention, or only allowing a wet nurse to care for them, increased their ability to be self–reliant later in life. Now, we understand that individuals who are self–reliant are able to be independent because they have their emotional and physical needs met. According to Erikson once children have established trust, they can feel secure enough to develop autonomy. This means that the Victorian era concept of refusing care for infants is not the most effective parenting tactic. However, infants and toddlers are not the sole product of their environment. If the child likes an activity, they are more likely to practice or develop skills because they enjoy it, and are not being forced into it. This may help their self–esteem as well, because they will be doing something they like, instead of being forced to do something that they may not have a natural aptitude for and run the risk of failing. In addition to the close development choices of the Western parent, they try to enhance the social development as well. They do this by sending the children to sleep–away camps, or a friend's house for a sleepover. The Chinese parent doesn't allow the children to attend sleepovers, school dances, sports events, etc. I think some children of the Western parents love the way they were raised and allowed to explore and make their own decisions growing up. • 64. Parenting And Strict Parenting Style Every single parent around the world has their own parenting style and techniques, but there are two common base types of parenting anywhere in the world, strict and lenient. Strict parents tend to be more demanding of their children, while a lenient parent will be more flexible. Which parenting style is more appropriate for children? I believe there's no right answer to this question. A lack of strict parenting can lead children to be more irresponsible or indifferent about life choices and matters regarding their education. A lenient parent can raise a joyful child, but if leniency is too consistent it can eventually shape a misbehaved or spoiled child, or in the worst scenario, a juvenile delinquent. Some folks will argue that either way must be picked to raise a child. I believe otherwise, there should be a with an equilibrium of both parenting styles regardless of their ethnicity. Any child could be successful without the deprivation of common joyful activities that children should experience at their age. Firstly, some parenting styles will prevent children to enjoy from common childhood activities in order to solely focus on school and extracurricular activities. They would prohibit children to have playdates, play computer games, watch TV, etc. These parents will prevent the goods of childhood, they believe that being completely strict will raise a successful child in the future. However, I believe children shouldn't be deprived for common childhood activities to satisfy those qualities. For instance, according to Powell's article where he describes his parenting style towards his daughter, "She goes out to play with the kids in our neighborhood. And she watches movies. In fact, one of the reasons Abby's English is so good is that she spends time watching The Lion King and Toy Story. That's more freedom than Chua's kids were allowed, according to her book." Powell believes that his child can be able to do well in school without the need of depriving his child from things children do at their age such as watching movies. On the other hand, Chua's remarked about her daughters that, "Well, I can tell them, because I've done it. Here are some things my daughters, Sophia and Louisa, were never allowed to ... • 66. Disadvantages Of Co-Parenting Co–parenting is the sharing of parental responsibility by divorced parents or joint shared custody of a child. It involves being interactive, cooperative, and supportive of the child which is important because it is a factor that determines whether the cognitive adjustment of a child's development is successful or not. According to Feinberg (2014), co–parenting consists of four dimensions: 1.) agreement/disagree on issues 2.) work regarding childbearing 3.) supports from both parents and 4.) interactions in the family. Co–parenting can be stressful after a divorce due to the change of lifestyle; it is difficult for both the parents and the children. Money, properties, and items can be divided up but not children because they need love and affection from both parents. When speaking of children, jealousy between the parents will arise, this will lead them to bad talk and rage about each other to the children. This affects a child's cognitive development and emotional state negatively because the two people they love and look up to are messing with their mind. The opportunities for crucial nurturing activities and access visits may not be provided therefore the child would lack cognitive and communication skills. (Schmidt, 2016). This can possibly lead to depression, chronic stress, and anxiety. Ineffective co–parenting can hurt a child because the child may not get the discipline they need to understand, they would feel confused by conflicting messages from parents that ... No congratulations. No "I'm proud of you" moments. Just heavy silence. At the dinner we spoke maybe twenty words to each other. Most of these words were commenting on how nice the Bone Student Center looked and how delicious the meal was. When the dinner ended, my mother drove me back home and said goodbye. No "I love you". Nothing but goodbye. Another example of my mother's disengagement would be when my sister was suspended multiple times and almost expelled. My sister tried to find attention from other people since she was receiving none at home. Her way of gaining this attention was getting into fights, and sadly, it worked. It took three incidents to gain the attention of my mother, and this only gained her attention because she received three different tickets for the fighting from the police ... • 76. Stereotypes Of Parenting As teenagers, there is the stereotype that we complain about our parents all the time. And the topic that most adults would think we complain about is how our parents are controlling or are butting into our lives too much. Of course, it is normal for a parent to be overprotective from time to time, but little did I know that there are parents who literally control and or live their child's life. Over– overprotective parenting – otherwise known as helicopter parenting or coddling – is occurring more and more frequently. Remember when you were younger and you would participate in a game or competition? If you won, you got a prize, if you lost, you got nothing. Your parents would tell you, "try better next time" or "better luck next time." But ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sure, parents want the best for their kid and do not want them to fail. However, it ends up just making things worse. In her article, Almendrala said, "Their children grow up without knowing simple skills like cooking, cleaning, or even doing laundry. They also have a higher risk of depression, are likely to lack self–confidence, and will have less initiative than their peers." Kids need to learn to do chores and how to help themselves so that they do not have to learn those skills later in life when they need them. For the older generations, once you left the house, there was no going back and you were on your own. Today, almost 65% of young adults end up returning home and 59% of parents provide financial aid, even though their child is no longer in school. While helping children while they are young is what is expected, you shouldn't help them to the point where they are dependent on others in the future. Let them rise, let them fall, let them live their lives without the foam wrapped corners and the bubble–wrap armor. Eventually you have to throw them in the deep end; and it's better to teach them how to swim when they could still touch the ground, than to give them floaties their entire lives and having them ... The first was to determine the different stressors and attitudes given by the parents in a child welfare– parenting program. Program files and interviews were used to conclude the statistics of the different stressors that could cause ineffective parenting to children. The second main purpose was to get a better understanding of the different issues, so there can be better involvements growth in the parenting. Sample The participants in this study are parenting dyads that have completed the Nurturing Parents Program (NPP) between July of 2008 and October of 2010. The participants included 124 individuals. These individuals came from 62 couples. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The data information also included the component of the data collection, the operational definition, the type of analysis, and the location in the program file. Along with the Nurturing Parents Program, data was also collected from the Adult–Adolescent Parenting Inventory (AAPI–2) to determine attitudes regarding parenting and child rearing. In this program, it used five categories that specified child maltreatment risk. These five categories included the inappropriate parental expectations of children, parental lack of empathy towards children's needs, strong belief in the use of corporal punishment, and reversing parent–child family roles, and oppressing children's power and independence. There are two main ways for applicants to be chosen for the interviews. This is either through a small presentation or through letters delivered to prior applicants. The applicants, no matter which way they were chosen, could then reach out to the researcher and find a way to contact them, if they desired an interview. There were a couple of details that could cause a parent not to be chosen, including if they do not speak or are not at ease with speaking in English, if the parents were not involved with the services, or if they were not of ...
