2. I will look at this adaptation because I am fond
of the music produced by The Four Seasons and
find the story of them interesting. I have
watched both the film and the live musical. I
also intend on adapting some musical audio into
a TV show so this is somewhat related.

3. The musical ran for several years from 2005-
2017 and gained many awards including various
Tony Awards and a Grammy Award for Best
Musical Show Album. The show runs in a
documentary style which follows the story of
the group The Four Seasons.

4. The Jersey Boys film is based on the musical and
tells the story of the group. It was released in
2014 and produced by Clint Eastwood.
The film was received a rating of 52% from
Rotten Tomatoes and a 54/100 from Metacritic.
The film made a total of $67.6 million worldwide
with an initial budget of $58.6 million

5. Musical Film
It is structured so it has 4 different sections
(Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter) where
different members of the group give a
narrative on how they feel things were in the
group.
One member of the group (Tommy DeVito)
narrates the entire film
Eastwood wanted the cast to be actors from the live musical as he felt these actors would
know the characters the most. This suggests that Eastwood wanted to adapt the musical in a
way that was as accurate as possible.
As the amount of props and costumes on
stage are limited this means there is less
room for errors when it comes to being
accurate with the era is play is portraying
The film has a much bigger cast and has
many more scenes this can add to the film to
make it more interesting and realistic
compared to the musical but it also means it
is less accurate with the era it is portraying.
The cast in both the musical and the film sing live. This would also make them both more
interesting and allows he audience to feel as though they are listening to the original group

6. The film features character Joey who is known
for his role in Goodfellas as Tommy DeVito, who
was based on Tommy DeSimone. Joey is credited
as Tommy DeVito to prevent copyright issues.
The story covers Frankie Valli’s daughters dug
addicted which eventually led to her death. This
is covered briefly and sensitively, preventing
drawing too much attention to it and being
respectful.
