1. Blood on my Hands Matthew Potter, Adam Marshall and Amy Greenwood
2. The Used We chose to do a video by The Used as they currently have 8 videos out with a similar style in which we will be able to analyse and adapt into our own original piece. A lot of the continued themes are reflections on the artists life; break ups between loved ones, death and living in fame, however these are portrayed in a more abnormal way.
4. To help us create our video We will be doing a lot of analysing on each of the videos by The Used, plus other artists who have a similar style in their videos, for example: Muse, Nirvana and Seether. We will take their videos and songs apart to learn all about them from their costume dress to the camera shots. This also is useful for us to do as we can establish similarities between them. We will also look at directors that come up in many of the videos we analyse and look into what gave them the idea of making the video like this. We can look into what the directors
5. Themes and Ideas Post – hardcore genre A young woman has lost her fiancée. She has trouble sleeping and takes medication which forces her into a deep, dark, harlequin nightmare. Our video unveils how her fiancée died. Sticking to the conventions of post – hardcore genre, we will reflect what the band are going through at the time this song was written.
6. Creating the video For the narrative and performance based video we will be using our own props and special effects to create the scenes. Will we do such things as: Building a backdrop (physically and digitally) using Photoshop, and chroma-key to put the characters in and virtual landscape we require. Using a green screen Using a lot of fake blood and make up Special effects such as flames and filters Animation at one point Dust and scratches on the screen
7. Song vs. video The lyrics of the song tell us about the amount of blame put onto someone when they take someone else’s life. We will aim to make our video more personal (between a couple to be married) than the original video by The Used. This makes is more conventional.
8. Music Videos As with most music videos, we will use the lip synch technique to make the band more involved with the video performance. We will also have the cuts between the band performing and the narrative of the story.
