2. I believe our Finished product the Hidden fits the codes and conventions of an opening sequence quite well, and doesn't really challenge them. The titles over the film go in the correct order for example (20th centaury fox presents) and the directors name at the very end. We used a range of close ups, medium close ups and long shots. We also used in some senses hand held camera work, giving it a Blaire witch feel to it, this idea originated from when we where we where researching films and Blaire Witch was one of them. For most of the hand held work, they where point of view shots, I felt it gave the audience a chance to see the murders and stalking through the killers perspective, allowing them to see parts of the film through a maniacs eye. We got this idea from the film Halloween ( 1978) where the opening sequence is one continuous shot with no editing and is complete point of view. The music we used is also appropriate for when they are in no danger, its is not scary nor to happy it is simply neutral, and when a scary scene is happing and suspense needs to be built, that music fades out and a dark drone, sometimes with added sound effects for example a heart beat, comes over the top of the video. So overall I think it fits the conventions.
3. Our product is presenting teenagers/young adults. However we do not present them in the stereotypical way, of been care free sex crazed party animals, taking drugs and drinking copious amounts of alcohol. However there is some suggestion of sexual relationships when Jake says “Fancy sharing a sleeping bag” and raises his eyebrows, but this is done in a slightly comical way. We did this to create a sense of innocence especially on Becci’s part, as she is the one that gets murdered. We thought by doing this it would make the audience feel sorry for the couple and empathise, even in jakes position when he realises that his girlfriend has been murdered, the innocence gives off the feeling that it was a relationship and not just a one night mess about. So our product doesn't represent teenagers in the normal fashion, however it has been done purposefully.
4. Our product would be distributed by a institution such as 20th centaury fox. The production of our film will go through a few steps, in our case it was produced by 20th centaury Fox. Once the film is made it will go in distribution. First of all it will go to the cinemas, and once it has run its time at the cinemas. It will eventually go onto DVD, and about at the same time it will be on pay per view (ppv) for example on sky box office. Then once its time has been run on PPV, it will move on to the general satellite and cable providers, such as sky movies. And once the time has been run on this it will eventually be on T.V such as free view, this allows the public to watch our film whenever it is on.
5. Our target audience is the 15-25 year old male, a person who likes violence and chilling films. The film would be most likely certificated at a 15+ rating due to the violence in it. We believe the violence in the film would attract a male audience in the age range. Though the film isn't aimed at the typical girl, girls with non stereotypical views and taste would also fall into our possible audience.
6. We addressed our audience in a variety of different ways. With our audience being mainly male, we caught there attention by building up the suspense of possible violent gory attack. This was done by never letting you really see the killer and allowing the audience to see it through the killers eyes. The use of music and sound effects help to achieve this, by giving the point of view shots a very real and chilling feel to it.
7. When we first did our preliminary task the use of cameras and editing software was pretty new to all of us, but throughout the filming we have done, I have learnt how to use a video camera confidently, on a tripod and free hand. I have become comfortable with editing software, and learnt how to make a video look the best it could. For example steadying shots that where slightly effected, and how to add sound effects and music, dropping them in and out of the film.
8. We worked in a group of three, myself Will Brett, BecciTebb and Elliot Wood. Throughout the filming I feel we all pulled our weight and worked as a team efficiently. I was mainly in charge of the filming of the film however Elliot did help with a few shots. Elliot was our director, he told me what shots he wanted and we would then decide if it was the right thing to do. Becci was our actress she performed in the majority of the shots, I think quite well especially with no dammar background. I acted as the killer but was never really in the picture and i was filming the point of view shots. When the filming was done and we where starting to edit, the whole group took part in this and some point we all edited the film and put forward our own ideas . Each Persons Contribution. Becci was in charge of producing a story board, scrip and evaluating the planning of our product. I was in charge of researching films that could be similar to our own, films that could give us ideas and inspiration. Elliot was in charge of Audience research, so we could get an idea of what are target audience.
