How did you attract/address your
audience?
Credits

Misé-en-scene

The misé-en-scene within the film addresses the
audience in many different ways. One way is that
we chose to locate the scene in a park, we chose
this because it relates to the target audience we
wanted to reach which is 15+ teenagers. The
park is stereotypically the location in which
teenagers tend to meet at, that’s why Ava and
Noah meet here. Ava was wearing feminine
skinny jeans with a hand bag, whilst Noah wore a
masculine leather jacket and jeans with trainers.
This attracts the audience because these are
typical teenagers clothes that you would find
We incorporated the romance element to the film opening teenagers wearing, this addresses the audience
because we feel that in a lot of horror movies they include because they might be able to relate to Noah and
Ava.
this. I think this will attract the female audience because
they stereotypically and statistically watch films with a
romantic element to the story.
The credits within our film opening are a big part of what
attracts our audience. The font style is sharp and the
names are in capitals. We used the right amount of time
for each title so the audience can read it in time, but not
be sitting around waiting for the credits to finish. I also
liked that we used Live Type for the final credit of ‘CLOWN’
This is because it is a good horror style and we also used
a clown nose for the ‘O’ to represent the clowns
stereotypical nose.

Romance

Sound Effects

The sound effects throughout our film opening created an
extremely fearful impact on the target audience. In sync
with the film company logo is a very fierce and spooky
sound which represents our film company, right at the
start this grabs the audiences attention. Straight from this
the sharp and eerie music. At the end of the film opening
you hear Ava screaming of fear, the scream carries on
during the title of the film, this influences the audience to
carry on watching the film this is for two reasons. One
being that it will allow them to question what's going on
whilst you can just hear her screaming but not the action.
Secondly, it will make them want to see what is going to
happen afterwards and leaves the ending on a cliff hanger
and this is the effect we wanted to have.

The enigma code within the film opening
is the fact that the audience do not have
any knowledge about this Clown. Where it
comes from, whether or not its form
England, what happens after he attacks
Ava, but one thing they do know is that he
has been seen before. We know this
because at the beginning of the opening
we decided to record newspaper articles
and pictures of the Clown so that the
audience know that he has got a pass in
doing what he does. We class the Clown as
a he, but the audience just assume this by
his stereotypical male suit.
