Middle School Classroom Transition Lesson Plan
Allotted Time: 15-20 minutes
Location: Classroom and Hallway

Objective: Middle level students will be able to transition from one class period to the next in an orderly and systematic fashion
without disrupting the other elementary level students.

Expectations:
                 Be Ready                                  Be Respectful                                Be Responsible
    •   Know your schedule or have it in         •   Use an inside voice                      •   Keep your locker neat and tidy
        an easily accessible place               •   Follow the rules of the building         •   Be punctual to each class period
    •   Pay attention to the time                •   Be mindful that other students           •   Get a late pass for unforeseen
    •   Have your belongings prepared                may be at work                               circumstances
        when the bell rings

Discuss and Model Positive Examples:
•Efficient use of passing time (including locker use)
• Use of an inside voice
• Open and close lockers quietly
• Carry all materials quietly in front of you
• Circumstances for obtaining a late pass
Discuss and Model Negative Examples:
• Use of outside voice
• Horse play in the halls during transition time
• Cutting class and other conduct violations
• Unauthorized use of restricted areas during passing time
*Practice the Positive Behaviors
*Check for Understanding
