W. Edwards Deming made major contributions to quality management through his book "Out of the Crisis" which transformed American management. He produced his famous 14 points and insights into employee psychology. Deming also analyzed causes of quality failure and classified them as common or special causes. His philosophy of seeing an organization as a system that must be managed with knowledge was outlined in his book "The New Economics".

Deming produced his famous 14 points to guide companies to
how to manage for quality.
It basically consists of management principles and insights into
employee psychology.
Another contribution of Deming was his guide to the barriers
that stand in the way of quality management, he called those
barriers the “seven deadly diseases”
Deming made also an analysis on the causes of quality failure.
He classified them in common and special causes of failure.
His sixth contribution is his book “The new Economics” ; he
states that an organization should be seen as a system which
has to managed with the correct knowledge to function well; he
called this philosophy his “system of profound knowledge”.

Juran´s first main contribution was an
approach called “Strategic Quality
Management”; this approach would help
managers in planning quality.
He also created a road map to quality planning
which consists of nine steps.
4. MAIN CONTRIBUTIONS
Crosby´s first main contribution was his most famous
book called “quality is Free” .
Crosby has also set up Philip Crosby Associates
Incorporated and The Quality Collage in Florida where he
taught organizations how to manage and improve quality.
A third contribution was his idea of “zero defects”; this
idea consists in putting systems in place that ensure that
things are always done in the correct way.
Another contribution of his is the “Crosby´s improvement
programme” which consists of 14 steps to enhance
quality.
5. MAIN CONTRIBUTIONS
Peters´s first main contributions are a string of successful
books called “In search of Excellence, A Passion for
Excellence , Thriving on Chaos and Liberation
Management”.
In his book “A Passion for Excellence” Peters mentions
leadership to be central to quality improvement, so he
developed hands-on leadership styles and called them
“managing by walking about (MBWA)” , these styles allows
leaders to be in close touch with their customers and staff;
this situation generates innovative and creative ideas.
Another contribution is his list of 12 attributes of the
quality revolution that all organizations need to pursue; he
wrote this list in his book “Thriving On Chaos”.
6. MAIN CONTRIBUTIONS
One of his main contributions was his work
on “Quality circles” , a quality circle is
actually a voluntary group of usually five to
a dozen members; they regularly have
meetings and their main goal is to
contribute to the improvement and
development of quality management.
