• The largest holiday in Azerbaijan is
Novruz. Which is the Azerbaijani new
year consisting of a whole month of
celebrations.
4. TEA
• Tea is a very important
custom in Azerbaijan.
• It is served at many
important events from
weddings to funerals.
• The tea is boiled in a
certain way to give it its
unique smell and taste
which is different from
other teas.
5. WEDDING TRADITIONS
• Weddings are very important
and are therefore laden with
many traditions.
• Tea is given by the bride's party
to the groom's party before a
wedding.
• During the wedding, the bride
writes names on her shoes which
ever one is rubbed off is beloved
to be the next to get married.
6. SHAKI
• Is a city in northwestern Azerbaijan.
• The population of this city is around 63,000 persons.
• Throughout the years the city was known with various names.
• The city has a rich history.
• Shaki has one of the greatest density of cultural resources and monuments.
• The city has a lot of houses with red roof and its people have nice sense of humour.
• Shaki has always played a central role in Azerbaijani art and architecture.
• The best-known aspect of Shaki cooking is its rich sweet dishes.
• Many tourists visit this city each year.
8. SUMGAIT
• Sumgait or (Sumgayit) is the
third-largest city in Azerbaijan,
located near the Caspian Sea,
about 31 kilometres (19 miles)
away from the capital Baku.
• The city has a population of
around 298,000, making it the
third-
largest city in Azerbaijan after the
capital Baku and Ganja.

10. BAKU
• Baku is the capital and largest city
in Azerbaijan. Located 28 meters below sea
level, Baku is lowest lying national capital in
the world.
• Baku is divided into twelve main
administrative Baku's and 48 cities, including
the islands of the Baku Archipielago and
the town of 'Oil Rocks'
• Baku consists of a temperate semi-arid climate
that is made up of hot summers and cool
winters and strong winds all year long. In fact
Baku is nicknamed as 'City of Winds'.

amenities such as museums

were celebrated back in 2009
when Baku was designated

12. MAIDEN TOWER
• The Maiden Tower is a 12th-century monument in the Old City, Baku, Azerbaijan.
• It forms a group of historic monuments listed in 2001 under the UNESCO World
Heritage List of Historical Monuments as cultural property, Category III.
• It is one of Azerbaijan's most distinctive national emblems,
• It features on their money.
• The Maiden Tower houses a museum, which presents the story of historic
evolution of the Baku city.

• Started growing tea in 1937
• It is made from special flower in the shape of a
tear.
• It is known all over the world.
• It is mostly drank with lemon.
• Azerbaijani people like to drink it with baklava.

more than 4,500 species of higher
plants have been registered in the
country. Due to the unique climate
in Azerbaijan, the flora is much
richer in the number of species
than the flora of the other
republics of the South Caucasus.
