2. Baku is the capital and largest city of Azerbaijan, as well as the
largest city on the Caspian Sea and of the Caucasus region. Baku
is located 28 meters (92 ft) below sea level, which makes it the
lowest lying national capital in the world and also the largest city
in the world located below sea level.
Baku is the scientific, cultural, and industrial center of Azerbaijan.
Many sizeable Azerbaijani institutions have their headquarters
there. In recent years, Baku has become an important venue for
international events. It hosted the 57th Eurovision Song Contest
in 2012, the 2015 European Games, 4th Islamic Solidarity Games,
the European Grand Prix in 2016, the Azerbaijan Grand Prix since
2017, hosted the final of the 2018–19 UEFA Europa League, and
was one of the host cities for UEFA Euro 2020.
The city is renowned for its harsh winds, which is reflected in its

10. HIGHLAND PARK
Highland Park Baku is a popular attraction located in the capital of Azerbaijan.
From its highest point, visitors can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of
the city and bay. Both locals and tourists come to the park to appreciate the
view, take a stroll, or simply relax.
Name Highland Park received due to its location. The territory of the parking
zone is located on a hill, so from the observation platforms, a magnificent
view of the nearby attractions opens Baku Boulevard, Baku Bay, the
Shirvanshahs Palace, the Old City of Baku and the Maiden’s Tower.
GOBUSTAN
Gobustan is a settlement and municipality in Baku, Azerbaijan. It has a
population of 14,470.It is also best known for being the home to the famous rock
petroglyphs and mud volcanoes. The area has been settled since the 8th
millennium BC. It is known for hosting thousands of rock engravings spread over
100 square km depicting hunting scenes, people, ships, constellations and
animals. Its oldest petroglyphs date from the 38th millennium BC .

11. MAIDEN TOWER
The Maiden Tower is a 12th-century monument in the Old City, Baku,
Azerbaijan. Along with the Shirvanshahs' Palace, dated to the 15th century, it
forms a group of historic monuments listed in 2001 under the UNESCO
World Heritage List of Historical Monuments as cultural property, Category
III. It is one of Azerbaijan's most distinctive national emblems, and is thus
featured on Azerbaijani currency notes and official letterheads
BAKU FERRIS WHEEL (BAKU EYE)
Baku Ferris Wheel is also known as the Baku Eye and Devil's Wheel is a Ferris
wheel on Baku Boulevard in the Seaside National Park of Baku, capital of
Azerbaijan. The wheel was built by the Dutch company Dutch Wheels. It was
opened 10 March 2014 by Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev and opened to
the public two days later.

12. PALACE OF THE SHIRVANSHAHS
The Palace of the Shirvanshahs is a 15th-century palace built by the
Shirvanshahs and described by UNESCO as "one of the pearls of
Azerbaijan's architecture". It is located in the Inner City of Baku,
Azerbaijan and, together with the Maiden Tower, forms an ensemble of
historic monuments inscribed under the UNESCO World Heritage List of
Historical Monuments.
ATESHGAH OF BAKU
The Ateshgah of Baku often called the "Fire Temple of Baku", is a castle-
like religious temple in Surakhany town, a suburb in Baku, Azerbaijan.
the temple was used as a Hindu, Sikh, and Zoroastrian place of worship.
"Atash" is the Persian word for fire. The pentagonal complex, which has
a courtyard surrounded by cells for monks and a tetrapillar-altar in the
middle, was built during the 17th and 18th centuries.

13. ANZALI DANCE
Anzali is the melody of a dance which was created between 1880
and 1890 in Baku. It is performed slowly and for this reason it is
suitable for older people. "Anzali" is a traditional dance. It is
performed during the beginning of marriage ceremonies. When it
was created, it was intended for older people, although younger
people may perform it as well.
MUGHAM MUSIC PERFORMANCE
Mugham or Mughamat is one of the many classical compositions from
Azerbaijan, contrasting with tasnif and ashik. It is a highly complex art
form that weds classical poetry and musical improvisation in specific
local modes. Mugham is a modal system. Unlike Western modes,
"mugham" modes are associated not only with scales but with an orally
transmitted collection of melodies and melodic fragments that
performers use in the course of improvisation.
ENTERTAINMENT FILLER OPTIONS
14. YALLI
It is a traditional Azerbaijani dance that originated in Zoroastrian
times as a ritual performance in celebration of fire. During the dance,
performers clasp hands and form a circle as their moves accelerate
from slow, deliberate steps to rapid-fire movements.
BAHAR
Bahar is the dance performance performed in Nowruz spring
festivals in Azerbaijan by women. The dance consisted of 3 parts.
This dance was composed by the Azerbaijani dancer and
choreographer Alibaba Abdullayev. The music of this dance was
composed by great Azerbaijani composer Jahangir Jahangirov.
ENTERTAINMENT FILLER OPTIONS
15. CARPETS AND RUGS
The national pride of Azerbaijan and the most expensive gift from
Baku is a carpet. "The traditional art of carpet weaving in Azerbaijan"
is included in the UNESCO Representative list of the Intangible
Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
The cost of the product depends on the size, complexity of weaving,
materials used, and the presence of pile. The price of the most
expensive carpets can start from 3,000 manats.
JEWELLERY
Baku is famous not only for weavers, but also for Jewelers. Ornaments
made in the first technique resemble the finest lace woven from
precious (gold or silver) metal. The technology is extremely
complicated in execution and requires many years of constant
practice from the master. But the result fully justifies itself: the
products are airy, elegant and shining in the sun.
LOCAL SOUVENIR
16. ARMUDS GLASSES
Armudi are the pear-shaped glasses for tea. Thanks to the original
design, they are better than ordinary glasses for tea drinking: the
liquid at the bottom is still hot, and the temperature on the surface is
already comfortable for drinking.The cost of armudi in souvenir
counters starts from about 35 manats. The finer the work of the
master - the higher it is appreciated.
KELAGHAYI
Kelaghayi is the most traditional and simple souvenirs, it is impossible
to miss mentioning women’s national headscarf.
For many centuries, it was an integral part of Azerbaijani women’s
national costume that protects them from both the hot sun and cold
wind as silk is cool in summer and warm in winter.
LOCAL SOUVENIR
17. CRUDE OIL PAINTING
The Land of Fire is one of the birthplaces of the oil industry. The oil
fountain in the Bibiheybat field of Baku in 1848 laid the foundation
for the first industrial production of “black gold” in
Azerbaijan.Azerbaijani artist Sabir Copuroglu creates the oil
paintings, just using his fingers and nails.
CERAMICS
Ceramics appeared in Azerbaijan from extreme antiquity.
A rich collection with simple, unglazed, glazed and decorated
ceramics was discovered during archeological excavations in Old City.
One of the most common ceramic souvenirs of Azerbaijan is chirag.
This ancient oil lamp is used for lighting of medieval homes. Man and
woman salt and pepper shakers are also very popular among tourists.
You can buy them at bazaars and souvenir shops.
