2. QUESTION 1: AGE
0-10: 0
11-15: 4
16-18: 17
19-23:8
24-29: 3
When choosing the people I wanted to
interview for my questionnaire I didn’t just
want to ask people within my
demographic. I deliberately interviewed a
few people bellow and above to get a
better rounded view of my film.
Question 2: GENDER
Male Female
Again like with age, I specifically targeted a certain gender. My film is
a romantic comedy and the usual demographic for these films are
females so I picked mainly girls/women to be interviewed. However I
didn’t only ask girls, I wanted to get a males perspective of the film
trailer too.
3. QUESTION 3:WHAT GENRE DOYOUTHINK IT FITS
INTO?

Drama
Social
Realism
Romcom
Comedy
Romance
For this question I was slightly shocked at the results, I
thought that I had made it almost 100% clear what my
genre was. However, when I look at the genres that the
participants chose all of them some way fit into the
genre of Romantic comedy. I think this question shows
that my trailer does correctly represent the genre in the
way that it should.
4. QUESTION 4: DOYOU FEEL I HAVE EXPRESSEDTHE
CODES AND CONVENTIONS OFTHE GENREWELL?
YES NO
This is a mostly positive response to my question with over half
agreeing with the statement. However there is still some room for
improvement, this really should have been 100% yes rather than
mostly yes, I'm going to say that some of the no’s are due to a lack
of media knowledge and the other’s I don’t really mind as for my
trailer I wanted to creatively slightly steer away from the typical
codes and conventions to make it slightly more interesting that just
a boy meets girl trailer.

Because it was an open question I had to
categorise the answers by what they were
most like and these were the four that I
ended up with.These constructive criticism
are things that I was aware of in the back of
mind from self-assessing my film trailer so
there were not any major surprises. I was very
happy that 14 of my viewers thought there
was nothing wrong with it but it did take me
back by how many thought the pace was too
slow.At this stage there is nothing I can do to
amend these but if I was to make another
trailer in the future I would ensure that I took
these criticism into account whilst making as
guidelines.
6. QUESTION 6: DOYOUTHINKTHE STORYLINE IS
COMMUNICATED WELLTHROUGHOUTTHETRAILER?
Yes

No

Overall the feedback for this question is positive with mostly the
participants thinking my storyline was clear. I think it could have been the
layout of the trailer that threw people into confusion; having the rules laid
out one by one. I took a risk by setting my trailer out like that as it did
break the typical conventions of a romantic-comedy but my risk seems to
have paid off so I am happy and stand by my choice.

These results were not surprising to me, the fact that
they answered this questionnaire after just watching my
trailer which had no fancy effects in that effects would be
voted the least important. Personally I agree with what
my participants have voted, I think its very hard to
choose a ‘number 1’ for what’s the most important
convention as without all four of these conventions and a
few others the trailer would be boring and most likely
would not make sense.
8. QUESTION 8:DOYOUTHINKTHE ANCILLARYTASKS LINK
SUCCSESSFULLYTOTHETRAILER INTHEME?
Yes No
I feel like I should have asked why with this question as just
a yes or no doesn’t really help me draw a big conclusion
from it but the fact that the majority of my audience
thought it did then I feel like my work has been as success. I
did try and follow the codes and conventions for the genre
as closely as I could with an artistic license.

YES NO POSSIBLY
Even though these results don’t 100% work in my
favour I do understand them, in this day and age it’s
rare that people do go to the cinemas to watch films
and considering I don’t have any Hollywood stars in
my film and I’m a start up director it would be
amazing but unexpected that people would flock to
see it. My results show that mostly people enjoyed
my trailer and I hope it left them in enough suspense
for them to want to see more which from looking at
my results it mostly has.
