What have you learned from your
audience feedback?
Questionnaire
When showcasing my film trailer I created a questionnaire of seven questions to get
feedback and constructive criticism on my film and to also see the opinions on my film
from my target audience. I gave the questionnaire to 15 people in my target audience. I
have now looked at the responses to this questionnaire and tallied the answers into pie
charts to see the overall view of the trailer much easier.

How much did you enjoy the film trailer on a scale of 1 – 10
(10 being the highest)

For this question I wanted
to start of with an overall
rating of the trailer.
Two people gave the
trailer a 5, three people
ranked it a six, two people
gave it a seven, scoring
the most seven people
ranked the trailer
enjoyment as an eight and
one person ranked it a
nine. The rankings vary
between a five and a nine,
this shows that the
viewing was a success and
was liked overall by my
target audience.
Question 2
Was the genre of the film clear throughout the trailer ?
Yes
No
I then asked if the genre
was clear through the
viewing of my film trailer, in
response to this ten people
answered yes that the
genre was clear and five
people answered no that it
was not. With social realism
being a somewhat unclear
genre or not known in many
cases I see this as the
majority understanding the
genre through the viewing
of my trailer.

Could you understand the storyline of the film from this
trailer?

In my third question I wanted
to find out how well the
audience understood the
storyline of the film through
only seeing the trailer,
through flashbacks and
changes in time throughout
my trailer, making the
storyline clear was of a big
importance to me. On this
the majority voted that they
kind of understood the story
but not completely. 2 voted a
little understanding seven
voted that they kind of
understood the storyline and
six voted that they did
understand the story through
watching my film trailer.

Did the trailer give away too much of the storyline?

I then wanted to find out if too
much of the story was given away
during the film trailer, this I was
worried about as of the horse
riding accident is told prior to the
viewing of the actual film. In
response fourteen of my viewing
audience said no, that too much of
the story was not given away, yet
one person voted yes that too
much was given away from the
viewing of the trailer.

Would you then watch this film after viewing this trailer?

Fourteen people voted yes,

When looking at these
responses, reasons people
gave for not wanting to
watch this film were
reasons such as it not
being the genre of film
they normally watch.

I then lastly asked a
question where the
audience would have to
rank each part of my
trailer such as sound and
editing. I then looked at
how many times each
category was ranked 1st.
Editing was ranked 1st
three times, sound four
times, camerawork six
time and characters
ranked twice, with script
and setting/ lighting
being ranked but never as
1st.
From this feedback from my questionnaires I have
learnt that my film is quite alternative and may not be
for everyone, I have learnt that my trailer may have
been slightly confusing for the audience as to what it
is about but not so much that they have no
comprehension of what its about, nor giving away too
much of the story. I wanted the trailer to be slightly
intriguing by the confusion of what has happened to
the character and I am glad that in my feedback I have
leaned that this has worked the correct amount
without confusing the audience.
